• How to right-justify icon in a JLabel?

  For a JLabel with icon, if you setHorizontalTextPosition(SwingConstants.LEADING), the icon is painted right after text, no matter how wide the label is. This is particularly bad for a list, as the icons would be all over the place depending on how long the text is for each item. I traced the code and it seems to be that in SwingUtilities#layoutCompoundLabelImpl, text width is simply set to SwingUtilities2.stringWidth(c, fm, text), and icon x is set to follow text without considering label width. • Using a Generic Repository pattern with fluent nHibernate

  I'm currently developing a medium sized application, which will access 2 or more SQL databases, on different sites etc... I am considering using something similar to this: http://mikehadlow.blogspot.com/2008/03/using-irepository-pattern-with-linq-to.html However, I want to use fluent nHibernate, in place of Linq-to-SQL (and of course nHibernate.Linq) Is this viable? How would I go about configuring this? Where would my mapping definitions go etc...? This application will eventually have many facets - from a WebUI, WCF Library and Windows applications / services. Also, for example on a "product" table, would I create a "ProductManager" class, that has methods like: GetProduct, GetAllProducts etc... Any pointers are greatly received.

• MFMailComposeController crashing non-deterministically

What's happening is that the program crashes (long stack-trace below) upon clicking the SEND button. However, this is non-deterministic - sometimes it works immediately, sometimes after a long delay, and most often, it crashes.   I am trying to get the membership of a group in WSS 3.0. I am doing this in an elevated permissions block. The group exists. The identity of the application pool for the web application is in the dbo role in the content database. The code works on my development server, but not on another server, which leads me to believe there is something wrong with the permissions or configuration on this server, maybe something in dcomcnfg? Here are some lines from the SharePoint log that seem to be related: PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x08000000, have 0x00000000 Unknown SPRequest error occurred. I need it to be able to: Allow scrolling of the contents of the UIScrollView to see the other text fields once the keyboard is brought up Automatically "jump" (by scrolling up) or shortening I know that I need a UIScrollView. I've tried changing the class of my UIView to a UIScrollView but I'm still unable to scroll the textboxes up or down. Do I need both a UIView and a UIScrollView? Does one go inside the other? [EDIT: I now know that you want a UIView inside of a UIScrollView, and the trick is to programatically set the content size of the UIScrollView to the frame size of the UIView.] Then what needs to be implemented in order to automatically scroll to the active text field? Ideally as much of the setup of the components as possible will be done in Interface Builder. I'd like to only write code for what needs it. Note: the UIView (or UIScrollView) that I'm working with is brought up by a tabbar (UITabBar), which needs to function as normal. Edit: I am adding the scroll bar just for when the keyboard comes up. Even though it's not needed, I feel like it provides a better interface because then the user can scroll and change textboxes, for example. I've got it working where I change the frame size of the UIScrollView when the keyboard goes up and down.   I seem to be having a problem with using ItemizedOverlay and OveralyItems in it. I can get the first overlayItem to appear on the map but not any items after that.   After doing a light search on the Lazarus site I've come to the conclusion that this question has been asked some times but I haven't found an answer, so I'll ask my SO peers. Is there a a way to create a Makefile to replicate the action of the Lazarus IDE when it compiles a project. If so I really don't mind if it's makefile.fpc or just plain makefile, I just want some pointers on how to get to it. BTW, I've tried the option to enable the Makefile on the Lazarus options. Doesn't work.

• Why does navigationItem.titleView align left when presentmodalviewcontroller called?

  I'm using a UILabel for the titleView of a navigation bar (I'm making simple in-app web browser). It works fine, except that when I present a modal view controller, the titleView shifts from the center of the navbar to the far left (underneath the back button). I've tested in 3.0 and up.   I need a blob file field as part of a content type in plone. plone.app.blob's BlobField should provide this, but I can't find how to get a URL to download the file including the original filename (e.g. http://plone.site/plone/obj/orig-file-name.avi). Is there a way to do this using plone.app.blob? Alternately, there are a few pointers on the web pointing to plone.namedfile to do this. plone.namedfile seems to rely on z3c.blobfile. How does z3c.blobfile differ from plone.app.blob? Is one of these methods better than the other? vik

• Usercontrol losing Viewstate across Postback

  I have a user control which uses objects as inner properties (some code is below). I am having trouble with setting the attribute of the Step class programmatically, when set programmatically it is being lost across postback which would indicate something to do with Viewstate (?). When setting the property of the Step class declaratively it's working fine. • How can I extract similarities/patterns from a collection of binary strings?

  I have a collection of binary strings of given size encoding effective solutions to a given problem. By looking at them, I can spot obvious similarities and intuitively see patterns of symmetry and periodicity. Are there mathematical/algorithmic tools I can "feed" this set of strings to and get results that might give me an idea of what this set of strings have in common? By doing so I would be able to impose a structure (or at least favor some features over others) on candidate solutions in order to greatly reduce the search space, maximizing chances to find optimal solutions for my problem (I am using genetic algorithms as the search tool - but this is not pivotal to the question). Any pointers/approaches appreciated.

• How does the recursion here work?

I've been able to understand using recursion in other cases like this: code two: class two { public static void two (int n) { if (n>0) { System.out.println (n) ; two (n-1) ; } else { return ; } } public static void main (String[] arg) { two (12) ; } } In the case of code 2 though n will eventualy reach a point at which it doesnt satisfy n0 and the method will stop calling itself recursivly. in the case of code 2 though i don't see how it would be able to get itself from 1 if n=1 was the starting point to 2 and 3 and 5 and so on. Also i don't see how the line `return fibonacci (n-1) + fibonacci (n-2) would work since fibbonacci n-2 has to contain in some sense fibonacci n-1 in order to wrok but it isn't there yet. I know my question is worded poorly but looking at this is making my mind explode. the book i'm looking at says it will work. how does it work? `

Does it go into an mxml file or does it need to be compiled into a Flash application. Where do I put it and how do I include it into the html document ? • How to render Asian characters in a PDF using xhtmlrenderer

  I was wondering what steps were needed to render Asian characters using the java based xhtmlrenderer (flying saucer) library? I am wanting to render the following: <html> <body>????????</body> </html> Without any font settings being added to the HTML this renders fine in normal browsers, but I can't find anyway to render this to PDF using the iTextRenderer portion of xhtmlrenderer. After following various threads on the mailing list, I see lots of posts talking about adding .TTF files from the c:\windows\fonts directory, and I have modified the examples to run on linux ( https://gist.github.com/643173745182c9becc57 ), which shows me various fonts being displayed, but I don't see any Asian glyffs. Does anyone have any decent pointers, or clean solutions to this problem? Or am I looking at the wrong problem with a really simple solution elsewhere?

• sharp architecture question - no strongly typed views

  Hi, I am trying to get my head around the sharp architecture and used the visual studio template as described on the web: http://wiki.sharparchitecture.net/VSTemplatesAndCodeGen.ashx This is all cool. Unfortunately, I cannot add a strongly typed view as easily as I am used to ‘under’ asp.net mvc. What can I do to ‘enable’ this in VS 2008 Prof? I have also installed asp.net mvc 2.0 and would like to reflect this in my ‘vs studio sharp environment’. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Best wishes, Christian

  I am a beginner in C. What does release_pack_memory does and I can't find this functions implementation in the whole source code. What does the #ifdef XMALLOC_POISON memset(ret, 0xA5, size); does? I am planning to reuse this function on my project. Is this a good wrapper around malloc? Any help would be great.
