• Can you pass parameters for OnAction in MS Project VBA?

  The way I can define a method to be executed with OnAction in VBA with Microsoft Project is as follows (and works correctly): .OnAction = "Macro ""DoSomething""" ... where DoSomething is the method to execute. I would like to pass a parameter to that method but can't find a way to pass it with this syntax. Does anybody have an idea how to do this? I'm getting the feeling that this is an impossible task, but maybe there's some VBA secret I'm not aware of. Please note that VBA in MS Project seems to have its quirks and is slightly different than VBA for Excel or Access. This seems to be the case for the OnAction property which needs the extra Macro keyword to work correctly. If I'm wrong here please enlighten me.

  Some XML::LibXML methods return arrays instead of references to arrays. Instead of doing this: $self->process_items($xml->findnodes('items/item')); I want to do something like: $self->process_items(\$xml->findnodes('items/item')); So that in process_items() I can dereference the original array instead of creating a copy: sub process_items { my ($self, $items) = @_; foreach my $item (@$items) { # do something... } } I can always store the results of findnodes() into an array and then pass the array reference to my own method, but let's say I want to try a reduced version of my code. Is that the correct syntax for passing the method results or should I use something different? Thanks!

  Hi, I'm trying to build an XML tree of some data with a parent child relationship, but in the same table. The two fields of importance are CompetitionID ParentCompetitionID Some data might be CompetitionID=1, ParentCompetitionID=null CompetitionID=2, ParentCompetitionID=1 CompetitionID=3, ParentCompetitionID=1 The broken query I have simply displays results in a flat format. Seeing that I'm working with XML, some sort of recursive functionality is required. I can do this using recursion, but would like to see the linq version. Is there any difference between var name = function() {} & function name() {} in Javascript? in javascript (and other scripting languages) what is the 'real' difference between these two syntax: a) function myFun(x) { yadda yadda } b) myFun(x) = function { yadda yadda } to a casual observer - no 'real' difference - you still call either as myFun()...and they still return the same thing, so if reference and return are identical - is it a preference or is there some difference in the code parsing engine that treats these two differently - and if so - when would you use one over the other???

  In MSBuild it's straightforward to define, say, a PropertyGroup which depends on the value of a property Foo: <PropertyGroup Conditional="'$(Foo)'=='Bar'" /> Is it also possible for the conditional to depend on a task parameter? For example, I'd like to use the value of the Link task's SubSystemparameter roughly like this: <PropertyGroup Conditional="'$(Link/SubSystem)'=='Console'" /> but don't know if it is possible, and if it is, what the correct syntax is. I'm pretty new to MSBuild though, so it's perfectly possible that I've missed something.

  There are 2 Models: Project & Category that are bind with HABTM relationship. I would like to perform a search from projects controller that can do the following: FIND all DISTINCT Project.scedule WHERE Category.slug != 'uncategorised' Apologies for the syntax, I'm no sequel expert. What I have managed to do is to retrieve all projects that do not belong to Category uncategorised into an array however I'm not sure as to how to search again the array result for DISTINCT Project.schedule values (needed to fill out a form drop down) I hope I made myself clear.

• What's the silliest programming mistake you've ever done? [closed]

  Despite not being a professional programmer, i use python or c to accomplish simple tasks. Once I needed a nasty equation to use with various data for physics lab. I thought that it would take a few hours if i used some mechanic calculator. Then i've written a python script to make things easier but something was wrong. After finding my mistakes one of which was forgetting to put ":", i realized that it had already took 2-3 hours, not to mention inventing satanic arithmetic techniques since i thought the errors was caused by my math :) Sometimes when you don't see it, you don't see it! Now i can find the syntax errors without thinking for a moment :) Any similar annoying mistakes that you've experienced?

  Hi, I have a script and I'm almost done but I get this error and frankly I have no idea what is wrong here. I'm rather new to Javascript so I suspect I did something wrong in the syntax somewhere. • trouble setting up TreeViews in pygtk

  I've got some code in a class that extends gtk.TreeView, and this is the init method. I want to create a tree view that has 3 columns. A toggle button, a label, and a drop down box that the user can type stuff into. The code below works, except that the toggle button doesn't react to mouse clicks and the label and the ComboEntry aren't drawn. (So I guess you can say it doesn't work). • Tutorials for an experienced C# user to learn C++

  Are there any good resources for learning C++ that a C# user could use, which don't require knowledge of C? I have quite a good knowledge of C# via courses in my University's game development program (in a 300 level course right now) but now I need to use C++ for a project. I would use a beginner tutorial but they are so hard for me to follow and learn the basic syntax because they start so slowly. I found a few of tutorials for switching from C++ to C#, but none in the other direction. I do have a little bit of Objective C practice from iPhone programming as well.

  we have a lot of tests that uses Myfaces Test Framework for JSF 2.0. http://myfaces.apache.org/test/index.html Problem is we can't get it to work with JSF 2.1. Does anyone know a workaround or a way to solve this? When we run the tests we get the following error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Application was not properly initialized at startup, could not find Factory: javax.faces.application.ApplicationFactory It works fine with jsf 2.0 though. A typical use case in our code: // code block; assertFalse("Error message not expected. ", facesContext .getMessages().hasNext()); JSF 2.1 has a few syntax changes so my guess would be that's the problem.

• Renamed MySQL table not renamed for INSERT queries?

  After renaming one of my MySQL MyISAM tables from test_tablename to tablename, I have found that if I try to execute an INSERT (or REPLACE) query, I get the following message: 1146: Table 'dbname.test_tablename' doesn't exist I have triple-checked my database abstraction code, and verified this by running the query directly on the server. According to the MySQL server, the CREATE TABLE syntax is tablename, as expected, and when I run SHOW TABLES, it lists tablename as expected. Is there any reason for this to happen? More importantly, is there an easier way to fix this than dumping, dropping, re-creating, and reloading the table?

• A tool to determine jar dependencies based on existing code?

  Is there a tool that can determine .jar dependencies given a directory of .jar files and a separate directory of java source code? I need to generate Eclipse .classpath files based on an existing code base that doesn't have any dependencies defined. To be more specific, I've been given a large codebase consisting of a dozen or so J2EE-style projects and a single directory of jar files. My client uses a custom development and build framework that is just too arcane for me to use and get any real work done. The projects do not have any information about their dependencies, either between projects or to jar libraries. I would expect this tool would have to spin through each jar file, indexing the classes available in that file and then go through each file in the project source code tree and match up the dependencies, possibly writing out a .classpath file with the required jar files. I realize this is a rather simplistic view of the operation, as duplicate classes among the jar files and such might make things more difficult.

• Optional URL fragment in Codeigniter?

  This is maybe a simple syntax question or possibly a best-practices question in terms of codeigniter. I should start by saying I'm not a PHP or Codeigniter person so trying to get up to speed on helping on a project. I've found the CI documentation fairly good. The one question I can't find an answer to is how to make part of a URL optional. An example the CI documentation uses is this: example.com/index.php/products/shoes/sandals/123 and then the function used to parse the URI: function shoes($sandals, $id) For my example, I'd like to be able to modify the URL as such: example.com/index.php/products/shoes/all So, if no ID is passed, it's just ignored. Can that be done? Should that be done? A second question unrelated to my problem but pertaining to the example above, why would the variable $sandals be used as in the example, the value is 'sandals'? Shouldn't that variable be something like $shoetype?

• How do I "merge" two separate git repositories of the same website without losing commit data?

  I have two separate git repositories for the same version of a single website. domain.com-1.0 domain.com-2.0 Version 2.0 was completely redone from the ground up. There is no bridge between the two repositories. I would now like to merge the two into a single repository, but maintain the separation. I have already tagged domain.com-1.0 in it's repo and now want to clean the working tree and move domain-2.0 and all it's commit history into 1.0's repo. Is this possible or is there a better way of accomplishing this? Note: domain.com-1.0 will not be developed on anymore and is "being retired".

  Hi, on one of my web pages I want my manager user to view all activities assigned to them (personally). In order to do this, I need something like this: $sql = "SELECT * FROM activities WHERE manager = $_SESSION['SESS_FULLNAME']"; Now obviously this syntax is all wrong, but because I am new to this stuff, is there a way I can call up the full name from the user's session within a query? This is so that when I call up the database values to be displayed within the web page, only the activities for the manager who is logged in is displayed. For example, the activities table has a manager column of a full name entry. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

• Infinite recursion trying to check all elements of a TreeCtrl

  I have a TreeCtrl in which more than one Item can be assigned the same object as PyData. When the object is updated, I want to update all of the items in the tree which have that object as their PyData. I thought the following code would solve the problem quite neatly, but for some reason the logical test (current != self.GetFirstVisibleItem()) always returns true leading to infinite recursion.
