• Drag-n-Drop on contentEditable elements

  There are numerous WYSIWYG editors available on the internet, but I'm yet to find one that implements some form of drag-n-drop implementation. It is easy to create one's own editor, but I want to the user to be able to drag elements (ie. tokens) from outside the editable area and have them drop it at a location of their choice inside the editable area. It is easy to inject html at a specific location of an editable element, but how do one determine where the caret should be when the user is dragging a DIV over some element in the editable area. To better illustrate what I'm trying to explain, see the following scenario. The editable area (either an IFRAME in edit mode or a DIV with its contentEditable attribute set to true) already contains the following text: "Dear , please take note of ...." The user now drags an element representing some token from a list of elements, over the editable area, moving the cursor over the text until the caret appear just before the comma (,) in the text as shown above. When the user releases the mouse button at that location, HTML will be injected which could result in something like this: "Dear {UserFirstName}, please take note of ...". I do not know if anyone has ever done anything similar to this, or at least know of how one would go about doing this using JavaScript. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  I have a TableView controller class that uses a fetched results controller to display a list of 'patient' entities taken from a Core Data model. The sections of this table are taken from a patient attribute called 'location'. Here is the sort descriptor for the fetch request: NSSortDescriptor *locationDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"location" ascending:YES]; NSSortDescriptor *lastNameDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"lastName" ascending:YES]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:locationDescriptor, lastNameDescriptor, nil]; Here is the initialisation code for the FRC: NSFetchedResultsController *aFetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:managedObjectContext sectionNameKeyPath:@"location" cacheName:@"List"]; When I want to add a new 'patient' entity - I click an add button which then pushes an 'add new patient' view controller to the navigation stack. The first patient I add works fine. If I add a second patient - the app will sometimes crash with the following error: 2010-03-22 14:42:05.270 Patients[1126:207] Serious application error. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1) with userInfo (null) 2010-03-22 14:42:05.272 Patients[1126:207] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '** -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1)' This only seems to happen if the patient's have a location added (if none is added then the location defaults to 'unknown'). It seems to have something to do with the sorting of the location too. For instance, if the first patient location = ward 14 and the second = ward 9 then it crashes without fail. I'm wondering if this is something to do with how I am asking the fetched results controller to sort the section names?? This bug is driving me nuts and I just can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  I'm stuck on a Django ORM issue that is bugging me. I have a set of models linked by a foreign key but the requirements are a bit odd. I need to list items by their relation's relation. This is hard to explain so I've tried to depict this below, given: Work ManyToMany(Award) Award ForeignKey(AwardCategory) AwardCategory I need to list work items so they are listed by the award category. Desired output would be: Work Instance A Award Instance A that belongs to Award Category Instance A Award Instance C that belongs to Award Category Instance A Award Instance G that belongs to Award Category Instance A Work Instance A (same instance as above, but listed by different award__category) Award Instance F that belongs to Award Category Instance B Award Instance R that belongs to Award Category Instance B Award Instance Z that belongs to Award Category Instance B Work Instance B Award Instance B that belongs to Award Category Instance A Award Instance A that belongs to Award Category Instance A Essentially I want to list all work by the award category. I can get this to work in part but my solution is filthy and gross. I'm wondering if there is a better way. I considered using a ManyToMany and a through attribute but I'm not certain if I'm utilizing it correctly.

• Media Kind in iTunes COM for Windows SDK

  I recently found out about the awesomeness of the iTunes COM for Windows SDK. I am using Python with win32com to talk to my iTunes library. Needless to say, my head is in the process of exploding. This API rocks. I have one issue though, how do I access the Media Kind attribute of the track? I looked through the help file provided in the SDK and saw no sign of it. If you go into iTunes, you can modify the track's media kind. This way if you have an audiobook that is showing up in your music library, you can set the Media Kind to Audiobook and it will appear in the Books section in iTunes. Pretty nifty. The reason I ask is because I have a whole crap load of audiobooks that are showing up in my LibraryPlaylist.   Im using c# .net windows form application. I have created a database which has many tables. In one of the tables I have entered data. In this table I have 4 columns named key, name,age,value. Here the name "key" of the first column is a key word. Now I am trying to get these column names into a combo box. I am unable to get the name "key". • SL 3 navigation not working!

  Hey Guys I converted all my existing Silverlight app UserControls to Pages so I could use the Navigation Framework. Anyway so I created a UserControl called MyFrame, which would host all the pages. In my App.xaml.cs I have the following to make sure that MyFrame is loaded when the App loads: private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { this.RootVisual = new MyFrame(); } My UriMapper class resides in App.xaml and looks like the following: <navcore:UriMapper x:Key="uriMapper"> <navcore:UriMapping Uri="Login" MappedUri="Login.xaml"> </navcore:UriMapper> Within my 'MyFrame' class, I have the following <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"> <HyperlinkButton Tag="Login" Content="Login" Click="HyperlinkButton_Click" /> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Orientation="Vertical"> <navigation:Frame x:Name="ContentFrame" Style="{StaticResource ContentFrameStyle}" /> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> And within the callback for my HyperlinkButton's event handler, I have the following: private void HyperlinkButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { ContentFrame.Navigate(new Uri((sender as HyperlinkButton).Tag.ToString(), UriKind.Relative)); } The Login.xaml file is in my root folder (right under Project). This navigation does not seem to work! The exception I get reads like so: Navigation is only supported to relative URIs that are fragments, or begin with '/', or which contain ';component/'. Parameter name: uri The Login page does not load. There is no problem with Login.xaml as when I set this.RootVisual = new Login(); the page loads just fine. • Create combined client side and server side validation in Symfony2

  I think it would be very useful to create client side form validation up on the symfony2 Form and Validator components. The best way to do this would be to pass the validation constraints to the form view. With that information it would be possible to make a template that renders a form field to something like this: <div> <label for="form_email">E-Mail</label> <input id="form_email" type="text" name="form[email]" value="" data-validation-constraints='["NotBlank":{},"MinLength":{"limit":6}]' /> </div> The JavaScript part then would be to find all <input> elements that have the data-validation-constraints attribute and create the correct validation for them. To pass the validation constraints to the form view i thought the best way would be to create a form type extension. That's the point of my Question: Is this the correct way? And how is this possible? • Is android's motion event handling accurate??

  Bug I have a weird bug in my piano app. Sometimes keys (and thus notes) hang. Shouldn't I definitely get a ACTION_MOVE first? As shown in the end of the log, it's definitely not an error in region detection, since the ACTION_UP event is clearly in the B4 region. Logging Implementation details Every onTouchEvent() call is logged, so the log is accurate. The relevant pseudo-code for the ACTION_MOVE logging is: Key oldKey = Key.get(event.getHistoricalX(), event.getHistoricalY()); Key newKey = Key.get(event.getX(), event.getY()); Question Is this normal behaviour for Android (the jumping in coordinates)? Am I missing something?

• Getting values from DataGridView back to XDocument (using LINQ-to-XML)

  Learning LINQ has been a lot of fun so far, but despite reading a couple books and a bunch of online resources on the topic, I still feel like a total n00b. Recently, I just learned that if my query returns an Anonymous type, the DataGridView I'm populating will be ReadOnly (because, apparently Anonymous types are ReadOnly.) Right now, I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to: Get a subset of data from an XML file into a DataGridView, Allow the user to edit said data, Stick the changed data back into the XML file. Upon doing a Step-thru trace of my code, I'm finding that the changes to the values made in DataGridView are not bound to the XDocument object and as such, do not propagate back. How do we take care of Step 3? (getting the data back to the XML) Is it possible to Bind the XML directly to the DataGridView? Or do I have to write another LINQ statement to get the data from the DGV back to the XDocument? Suggstions?

  Hi everyone, here's my very simple question: merge() only takes two data frames as input. I need to merge a series of data frames from a list, using the same keys for every merge operation. Given a list named "test", I want to do something like: do.call("merge", test). I could write some kind of loop, but I'm wondering if there's a standard or built-in way to do this more efficiently. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!   I'm trying to implement a model for private messages between two or more users. That means I've got two Entities: User PrivateMessage The User model shouldn't be edited, so I'm trying to set up an unidirectional relationship: @Entity (name = "User") @Table (name = "user") public class User implements Serializable { @Id String username; String password; // something like this ... } The PrivateMessage Model addresses multiple receivers and has exactly one sender. So I need something like this: @Entity (name = "PrivateMessage") @Table (name = "privateMessage") @XmlRootElement @XmlType (propOrder = {"id", "sender", "receivers", "title", "text", "date", "read"}) public class PrivateMessage implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = -9126766942868177246L; @Id @GeneratedValue private Long id; @NotNull private String title; @NotNull private String text; @NotNull @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP) private Date date; @NotNull private boolean read; @NotNull @ElementCollection(fetch = FetchType.EAGER, targetClass = User.class) private Set<User> receivers; @NotNull @OneToOne private User sender; // and so on } The according 'privateMessage' table won't be generated and just the relationship between the PM and the many receivers is satisfied. I'm confused about this. Everytime I try to set a 'mappedBy' attribute, my IDE marks it as an error. It seems to be a problem that the User-entity isn't aware of the private message which maps it. What am I doing wrong here? I've solved some situation similar to this one, but none of those solutions will work here. Thanks in advance!

• Asp.Net MVC 2: How exactly does a view model bind back to the model upon post back?

  Sorry for the length, but a picture is worth 1000 words: In ASP.NET MVC 2, the input form field "name" attribute must contain exactly the syntax below that you would use to reference the object in C# in order to bind it back to the object upon post back. That said, if you have an object like the following where it contains multiple Orders having multiple OrderLines, the names would look and work well like this (case sensitive): This works: Order[0].id Order[0].orderDate Order[0].Customer.name Order[0].Customer.Address Order[0].OrderLine[0].itemID // first order line Order[0].OrderLine[0].description Order[0].OrderLine[0].qty Order[0].OrderLine[0].price Order[0].OrderLine[1].itemID // second order line, same names Order[0].OrderLine[1].description Order[0].OrderLine[1].qty Order[0].OrderLine[1].price However we want to add order lines and remove order lines at the client browser. Apparently, the indexes must start at zero and contain every consecutive index number to N. The black belt ninja Phil Haack's blog entry here explains how to remove the [0] index, have duplicate names, and let MVC auto-enumerate duplicate names with the [0] notation. However, I have failed to get this to bind back using a nested object: This fails: Order.id // Duplicate names should enumerate at 0 .. N Order.orderDate Order.Customer.name Order.Customer.Address Order.OrderLine.itemID // And likewise for nested properties? Order.OrderLine.description Order.OrderLine.qty Order.OrderLine.price Order.OrderLine.itemID Order.OrderLine.description Order.OrderLine.qty Order.OrderLine.price I haven't found any advice out there yet that describes how this works for binding back nested ViewModels on post. Any links to existing code examples or strict examples on the exact names necessary to do nested binding with ILists? Steve Sanderson has code that does this sort of thing here, but we cannot seem to get this to bind back to nested objects. Anything not having the [0]..[n] AND being consecutive in numbering simply drops off of the return object. Any ideas?

  Hello I'd like to build a "Rails Brick" using a Sheevaplug from Marvell (O.S. is Ubuntu out of the box but You can install other distributions on It). It will be a home server and a silent, low cost (99$) low energy development machine. I'd like to add rails RVM, lot of gems, git-based heroku like deployment, passenger + nginx. This way I could have a portable server with a complete development environment and maybe I could find a hosting company where I can co-locate a grid of this devices or I can sell It as a simple little server for 10 or less users offices, with some centralized rails services (I think to a CMS, a BLOG, a WIKI, calendar or whatever this little jewel could afford). The usb port could make It a print server too or a UMTS link to the web via HUAWEI like usb UMTS keys. Can you give me some hint about: Is this project a crazy-close-to-failure idea? Why? which gem would You include? which rails open source app would you suggest? I have already an Excito Bubba Server at home, I saw the TonidoPlug so It came up in my mind to build something similiar but Rails based (Bubba is PHP based, TonidoPlug I don't know but It does not seems a Rails thing).

  There are a lot of questions relating to license keys asked on stackoverflow. But they don't answer this question. Can anyone provide a simple license key algorithm that is technology independent and doesn't required a diploma in mathematics to understand ? The license key algorithm is similar to public key encryption. I just need something simple that can be implemented in any platform .Net/Java and uses simple data like characters. Preferably no byte translations required. So if a person presents a string, a complementary string can be generated that is the authorisation code. Below is a common scenario that it would be used for. Customer downloads s/w which generates a unique key upon initial startup/installation. S/w runs during trial period. At end of trial period an authorisation key is required. Customer goes to designated web-site, enters their code and get authorisation code to enable s/w, after paying :) Don't be afraid to describe your answer as though you're talking to a 5 yr old as I am not a mathemtician. Just need a decent basic algorithm, we're not launching nukes... NB: Please no philosophy on encryption nor who is Diffie-Hellman. I just need a basic solution.

• Decrypting a string in C# which was encrypted with openssl in php 5.3.2

  maybe someone can clear me up. I have been surfing on this a while now. I used openssl from console to create a root certificate for me (privatekey.pem, publickey.pem, mycert.pem, mycertprivatekey.pfx). See the end of this text on how. The problem is still to get a string encrypted on the PHP side to be decrypted on the C# side with RSACryptoServiceProvider. Any ideas? PHP side I used the publickey.pem to read it into php: $server_public_key = openssl_pkey_get_public(file_get_contents("C:\publickey.pem")); // rsa encrypt openssl_public_encrypt("123", $encrypted, $server_public_key); and the privatekey.pem to check if it works: openssl_private_decrypt($encrypted, $decrypted, openssl_get_privatekey(file_get_contents("C:\privatekey.pem"))); Coming to the conclusion, that encryption/decryption works fine on the php side with these openssl root certificate files. • Implementing A Static NSOutlineView

  I'm having a hard time scraping together enough snippets of knowledge to implement an NSOutlineView with a static, never-changing structure defined in an NSArray. This link has been great, but it's not helping me grasp submenus. I'm thinking they're just nested NSArrays, but I have no clear idea. • SSL HandShakeException: No_Certificate. Using IBM's J9 JVM and Apache Tomcat

  I am developing a mobile application that is to run on a Windows Mobile PDA. The application is written in Java and to run it we are using the J9 JVM from IBM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP and we are trying to set it up now to use SSL. I have generated public/private keys for both the client and the server, exported their self signed certificates and imported them into the respective keystores. Initially I tried to just get it working using only server side authentication and that was successful. But I am now trying to get mutual authentication by setting clientAuth="true" in the server.xml file in the apache conf directory. I have enabled the SSL logging on the server and when the client connects the server reports an SSLProtocolException: handshake alert: no_certificate. • String length differs from Javascript to Java code

  I've got a JSP page with a piece of Javascript validation code which limits to a certain amount of characters on submit. I'm using a <textarea> so I can't simply use a length attribute like in a <input type="text">. I use document.getElementById("text").value.length to get the string length. I'm running Firefox 3.0 on Windows (but I've tested this behavior with IE 6 also). The form gets submitted to a J2EE servlet. In my Java servlet the string length of the parameter is larger than 2000! I've noticed that this can easily be reproduced by adding carriage returns in the <textarea>. I've used Firebug to assert the length of the <textare> and it really is 2000 characters long. On the Java side though, the carriage returns get converted to UNIX style (\r\n, instead of \n), thus the string length differs! Am I missing something obvious here or what ? If not, how would you reliably (cross-platform / browser) make sure that the <textarea> is limited.

• Access and modify attributes/objects which are not part of the form backing bean

  I use Spring MVC (via Spring Roo) to build a small web application for administering persons. In the page for creating a person the bean Person is used as form backing object (key "person" in the model map). <form:form action="${form_url}" method="POST" modelAttribute="person"> I would like to add some attributes to the model map which can be altered by the user in the creation form. Basically, I try to add a Boolean, so that I can control which page is displayed next after the user presses the submit button. I try to modify the Boolean (key "myBoolean" in the model map) using a simple checkbox: <form:checkbox id="_myboolean_id" path="myBoolean"/> However, as I am new to Spring MVC I have some difficulties here. The Boolean object is not an attribute of the form backing object. So if I try to access it the following exception is thrown (of course): Invalid property 'myBoolean' of bean class [de.cm.model.Person]: Bean property 'myBoolean' is not readable or has an invalid getter method: Does the return type of the getter match the parameter type of the setter? Is there are way to access a value of the model map directly? The only solution I can imagine right now is a kind of wrapper object around the class Person and my additional attributes which is used as a new form backing object. However, this is more work for a IMHO simple task. Do you have a better solution?

• Databinding question: DataGridView <=> XDocument (using LINQ-to-XML)

  Learning LINQ has been a lot of fun so far, but despite reading a couple books and a bunch of online resources on the topic, I still feel like a total n00b. Recently, I just learned that if my query returns an Anonymous type, the DataGridView I'm populating will be ReadOnly (because, apparently Anonymous types are ReadOnly.) Right now, I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to: Get a subset of data from an XML file into a DataGridView, Allow the user to edit said data, Stick the changed data back into the XML file. Upon doing a Step-thru trace of my code, I'm finding that the changes to the values made in DataGridView are not bound to the XDocument object and as such, do not propagate back. How do we take care of Step 3? (getting the data back to the XML) Is it possible to Bind the XML directly to the DataGridView? Or do I have to write another LINQ statement to get the data from the DGV back to the XDocument? Suggstions?

The problem is this ModelForm is that each field defined in the model will be displayed on the template. I would like to remove them from the form if they are not needed: exemple : if the user has no right on the model Company, it won't be used it in the rendered form in the template. The problem of that is you have to put the list of fields in the Meta class of the form with fields or exclude attribute, but i don't know how to manage them dynamically. Any Idea??
