• TinyMCE editor dislikes being moved around

  Hello guys, On a page I have, I need to move TinyMCE editors in the DOM tree once in a while. However, for some reason, the editor doesn't like it: it clears itself completely and becomes unusable. As far as I can see, this behavior is consistent between Safari 4 and Firefox 3.6, but not Internet Explorer 7/8. Here's an example. It truly is pissing me off to do something that works in Internet Explorer but not with more appreciable browsers. Is there something I missed in the docs about never trying to move an editor in the DOM tree? Is there some kind of workaround?

• asp.net rangevalidator for calendar extender entries gives problems in safari

  Hi there, I have the following scenario: arrival and departure dates have to be selected on a form, through 2 textboxes with a calendar extender each. I validate the entries to check that no date before today is selected and to check that the departure is after the arrival. I used a rangevalidator and a comparevalidator. In IE, Firefox and Opera it is working fine, in Safari (on windows) however both the validators go off even on entries that should be accepted. It makes me suspect that the date format dd/MM/yyyy causes trouble for Safari. (the dd/MMMM/yyyy also gave the same troubles in the other browsers, probably due to the dependency on UIculture) The code is:   The range validator gets its values in code behind on Page_load RangeValidator1.MinimumValue = DateTime.Now.AddDays(1).ToShortDateString(); RangeValidator1.MaximumValue = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(12).ToShortDateString(); Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve this problem with safari? best regards, Robin

• jQuery ajax callback function not working

  I am using Symfony PHP Framework to create web application, and using symfony Forms to create the HTML forms. I am trying to load the data in Select element using Ajax, for that i am using jQuery's Ajax functions. It is working fine as it sends and gets the response correctly(status as 200), but not calling the Callback function in some browsers such as IE,Chrome and Safari.It works fine in Firefox and Opera. the Code that is not working, $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: function(jsonData){ alert("ok go"); } }); the alert "OK Go" is not called in Chrome,IE and Safari But $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: alert("ok go"); }); this works, but as per the project i want the JSON data to load in my Select element. is there any thing wrong in the return JSON format or the bug in the jQuery Ajax functions, please help.

• How to remove accent characters from an InputStream

  I am trying to parse a Rss2.0 feed on Android using a Pull parser. XmlPullParser parser = Xml.newPullParser(); parser.setInput(url.open(), null); The prolog of the feed XML says the encoding is "utf-8". When I open the remote stream and pass this to my Pull Parser, I get invalid token, document not well formed exceptions. When I save the XML file and open it in the browser(FireFox) the browser reports presence of Unicode 0x12 character(grave accent?) in the file and fails to render the XML. What is the best way to handle such cases assuming that I do not have any control over the XML being returned? Thanks.

• jQuery form wizard - named anchor links

  Hi Team, Using: http://home.aland.net/sundman/ to split a complex form in to 4 steps. As well as as the 'next, back and submit' form buttons, I have created a menu above the form: step 1, step 2, step 3, step 4 linking to the hash tags #: #, #1, #2, #3 so the visitor can decide which step they want to view / edit. This works fine in firefox, but in IE and Chrome it does not seem to work. Anyone have experience with hte jQuery history plugin that can tell me the best way to accomplish this? I would like to link to the form but it is in a password protected area and subject to our NDA. If need be I could try and replicate the issue with a form on our server and link here. Thanks, Jack

  I'm working on a script, and a small part of that involves taking a canvas and converting it to a downloadable image. To do this, I do: var thumb_jpeg = thumbnail.toDataURL("image/jpeg"); $("#" + options.dest).attr('src',thumb_jpeg); ...where thumbnail is a canvas tag and options.dest is the name of an img id. This code works perfectly in Chrome, but when I try it in Firefox, Firebug throws up this error: Security error" code: "1000 var thumb_jpeg = thumbnail.toDataURL("image/jpeg"); I would link to the whole script, but everything is hosted on my computer. • PHP Include Windows XP Notepad++ Editor - Nav Include Not Working - Nav Disappears

  I am creating a website, and have a tabbed horizontal menu. In order to cut back on the number of files I have to edit when I have to make changes to the menu I want to put the navigation in a separate file that I can call using a PHP include statement. When I do this, however, the nav disappears entirely from the page. The rest of the content remains, and there are no error messages. I have been looking for answers for this for weeks, and have tried every version of the PHP include statement that I could find. None of them worked. This was the last attempt. I have the file "nav.php" in a folder named "includes" in a main dir called "testsite" I use Windows XP, use NotePad++ as my text editor, and have been testing in Firefox. I can't find an answer anywhere - any help would be appreciated. Lorianna

• JW Player: cross-browser "display:none" player behavior

  Is there a simple, upfront method to have FF and IE treat hidden JW Players the same? I am placing different instances of the player dynamically in jQuery generated tabs. In effect, switching tabs hides the parent div of each player. In FireFox, the tab switch and accompanying "display" change stops the player. This doesn't happen in IE. I would like it to. What is the easiest way to have both browsers act the same? I am hoping for a CSS/HTML solution, either thorough the way the players are embedded or a style rule Otherwise I suppose I will need to add an item listener that compares the currently selected tab id to currently active players... but I'd rather not go that route. Thanks for your tips! EDIT: So, I'd rather be able to change the player CSS or markup on tab change than send stop events to all the players but the player in the currently active tab.

• IE7 float/clear bug

  I am having the weirdest behavior in IE7 on this page. I have a clear: left on #moored that makes sure that #content-container will expand to the height of the float: left'd #content. Of course, Firefox and IE8 do it right. The weird thing though, is in IE7, it appears that #content-container is automatically expanding to contain the #secondary-content, which it shouldn't. Even weirder is when I view with IE8 with developer tools, the boundary boxes seem to show the that the #content-container is the expanding to the height of the #secondary-container, even though the background: #fff tells a different story. The background goes to where it should, and the void is now black. I've Googled a bit and came across heaps of similar float bugs, but I don't think I've found one which offers a fix yet for this circumstance. Can anyone please help me?

• Setting borders around tbody, thead and tfoot with IE8

  Hi, I've designed a table in html that uses tbody, tfoot and thead. I would like to put a border-bottom and border-top on my tbody. Which works perfectly well with Firefox and Google Chrome. However Internet Explorer 8 does not display the borders at all. After searching on the internet I haven't found any solution that did not involve some javascript; which I am not keen on using for that task. Has anyone faced this problem before and came up with a solution that does not require javascript? Ideally I wouldn't want to start messing around with the html too much, a solution just with css would be awesome. Thanks for that.

• Javascript incapable of getting element's max-height via element.style.maxHeight

  I am making a simple accordion menu in javascript. I'd like to be able to set the compact and expanded heights for the elements via the css max-height and min-height values. For some reason, when I try to retrieve the min-height and max-height of the elements in javascript for animation purposes, I get an empty string rather than, for instance, "500px" like it should. The max-height value is set in css, e.g. #id { min-height: 40px; max-height: 500px; } is all set up, but when I put a debugging mechanism in my javascript such as alert( item.style.minHeight ); it pops up an empty alert box. This happens in Firefox 3.6.2 and IE 8. Does anybody know why javascript refuses to be able to get an element's minHeight and maxHeight?

Is there another way to wrap text around an image? Or is that just not possible for IE yet?... • CSS Margin/Padding Issue on Browser Zoom

  I am having difficulty getting my page to show up correctly at various browser zoom settings. http://andstones.ca/newsite The content is aligned if the user is zoomed out on the page, but once they zoom too far out and refresh the page, or if they are too zoomed in and the page loads, then the content pane is shifted. This does not seem to be an issue in firefox, but it is a very serious issue in chrome/safari/iexplore and on the iPad. For example Seesmic or the upcoming Firefox 3.7 Searching in the internet most time it looks like you need a hack to realize this. But seriously: I don't think big software development teams use hacks to roll out their huge used products. So my question is: Windows Aero Glass Areas - How to do? Is it only possible with a hack? Maybe it's just one property, i don't know. I'm WinForms developer so I never tested out WPF. But my Google search didn't look like It is easier with WPF.

In IE6 and IE8 under XP, the whole image is indented, not text, so the image is not shown. What should be the right behavior? Is there a workaround?

• Problem with DWR and Android-Browser

  Hello everyone, I am experiencing a problem with accessing an application from the Android-browser. The application uses DWR to persist connections to the clients that are connected with it. Everything works fine for me, except that if the application does not send any data to the client on the Android-phone for 2 minutes, the connection seems to be lost and no data arrive at the client. The same scenario works just fine on Firefox, Opera and Chrome. If the pause between two data transfers is less than 2 minutes, it works just fine. So, now my question: Is there some timeout setting for the android browser that I am missing? Or is this some built-in bug/feature/whatever that I cannot circumvent? I know that I could prevent this from happening with some sort of heartbeat, I would just like to why this is happening. • How can I disable Ctrl+A (select all) using jquery in a browser?

  I'm trying to prevent information to be copied from a page (for non-technical users of course). I know how to disable selecting text using the mouse.
