• How do I get the executing program's directory in C using a plataform independent method?

  I develop my app in linux for both unix and win32(cross compile at each build) plataforms, so a ready to use function would be nice :). I'm using glib that has the 'gchar* g_get_current_dir(void)' function and it returns the current directory, but what I really need is the executable's dir. I'm inexperienced in C programming so any sugestions are welcome.

• Should I use Java for a custom Swing component designed for a clojure app?

  I want a simple timeline component (like in video editing software) for a clojure/seesaw app and I am wondering if it is a good approach to implement this directly with clojure and seesaw or if I should write it in java and make my clojure wrapper around it. Or more generally: is a functional programming language optimal for writing UI widgets? I cannot imagine doing that without a lot of state involved. And wasn't OO invented for UI-development in the first place?

• Parsing Range Expressions

  I have a string (R(46 - 9900)) AND ( NOT (R(48 - 9900))) where R denotes Range . If you evaluate the expression it results in R(46-47) , considering the logical operators (AND,NOT). I have a requirement where I need to parse such a string and evaluate it to a correct result . I have to use C++ as a programming tool to achieve this result .   The term has several definition according to Wikipedia, however what I'm really interested in is creating a program that has all its needed dependencies included within the source folder, so the end user doesn't need to install additional libraries for the app to install.   Hi everyone, I'm reading O'reilly's Learning iPhone Programming and on page 79 it says I have to create a new file (UIViewController subclass) and thick the checkbox to ask Xcode to generate an associated NIB file.   Hi, looking at a database dump file, and I see many records in various tables with their version number set in values other than 0 (even 94 in one case). I understand it has to do with hibernate locking strategy, but my concern is that today is Sunday, and the site has almost no visitors so is: is this normal ?
