  • What response should be made to a continued web-app crack attempt?

    I've issues with a continuous, concerted cracking attempt on a website (coded in php). The main problem is sql-injection attempts, running on a Debian server. A secondary effect of the problem is being spidered or repeatedly spammed with urls that, though a security hole has been closed, are still obviously related attempts to crack the site, and continue to add load to the site, and thus should be blocked. So what measures can I take to: A: Block known intruders/known attack machines (notably making themselves anonymous via botnet or relaying servers) to prevent their repeated, continuous, timed access from affecting the load of the site, and B: report & respond to the attack (I'm aware that the reporting to law enforcement is almost certainly futile, as may be reporting to the ip/machine where the attacks are originating, but other responses to take would be welcome).

  • Eclipse: How to convert a web project into an AspectJ project and weave and run it using the AJDT pl

    What I want to do: I want to use the @Configured annotation with Spring. It requires AspectJ to be enabled. I thought that using the AJDT plugin for compile time weaving would solve this problem. Before installing the plug in the dependencies which were supposed to be injected into my @Configured object remained null. What I have done: Installed the AJDT: AspectJ Development Tools plug in for Eclipse 3.4. Right clicked on my web project and converted it into a AspectJ project. Enabled compile time weaving. What doesn't work: When I start the Tomcat 6 server now, I get an exception*. Other information: I haven't configured anything in the AspectJ Build and AspectJ Compiler parts of the project properties. JDT Weaving under Preferences says weaving is enabled. I still have Java build path and Java Compiler under project properties. And they look like I previously configured them (while the above two new entries are not configured). The icon of my @Configured object file looks like any other file (i.e. no indication of any aspect or such, which I think there should be). The file name is MailNotification.java (and not .aj), but I guess it should still work as I'm using a Spring annotation for AspectJ? I haven't found any tutorial or similar which teaches: How to turn a Spring web application project into an AspectJ project and weave aspects into the files using the AJDT plugin, all within Eclipse 3.4. If there is anything like that out there I would be very interested in knowing about it. What I would like to know: Where to go from here? I just want to use the @Configured annotation of Spring. I'm also using @Transactional which I think also needs AspectJ. If it is possible I would like to study AspectJ as little as possible as long as my needs are met.     Hi all, I've installed NCover 3.4 on my CruiseControl 1.5 and after some tinking, I've got the coverage reports shown in my cleanly installed CC. I can't see the test results however (and never could after installing CC Net 1.5, as I recall 1.4 it 'just worked'). How do I get the unit test results from NCover displayed in CC.net?     Early versions of Windows 8 had this amazingly useful feature: Hit the Windows Key Type the first few letters of an application name Hit Enter to activate it (make it frontmost) If the application was not already running, it would launch it. This still happens, even in Windows 8.1. But if the application was already running, it would still be brought to the front. This is broken in Windows 8.1 (It was also broken in later versions of Windows 8.) Has anyone found a fix for this? So that the application is always brought frontmost, whether or not it is already running?

  • How should I load a xib into a detail view for a split view iPad objective app?

    I've got a split view iPad app with table view in the master pane. After drilling down several levels, each time loading a new .xib, I'd like one of the cells to trigger a web page load in the detail pane. Right now I can only get the web page .xib to load in the master pane side -- which is a master pain in my side. The basic load call where "URLWindow" is a class loaded with initWithNibName: [[self navigationController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; I want to do this, but it doesn't seem to work: @interface @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet DetailViewController *detailViewController; ... @implementation [[self detailViewController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; How should I be loading the URLWindow .xib into a detail view for a split view detail pane?

  • How to get the same UITableViewCell layout as in the Address Book app?

    Hi, I currently have a custom UITableViewCell which contains a few labels, and an image. The "main" label is used to display people's names. Currently, I'm styling it in bold text. What I'd like to do (to gain some space and readability), is to mimic the Address Book app cell style, that is: first name in light text, and family name in bold text. Is there a way to do this using the same UILabel? Or, should I use 2 different UILabels? How should I layout them, without knowing their sizes? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

  • How can I deploy my .NET app to Amazon EC2?

    I have a .NET Windows service and a .NET Web Application that I would like to deploy to my Amazon EC2 Windows 2008 instances. At this point, all I need to do is to copy the zipped files across to the EC2 box and remote desktop to the EC2 instance and finish the deployment. In order to do this, I have tried LogMeIn Hamachi2 to create a P2P VPN and use RoboCopy to copy the files, however it seems Hamachi doesn't work on Windows EC2. What is your solution for deploying your .NET apps to Windows EC2 instances? I want to avoid running an FTP server on the box just to get my files up on the server and don't have a VPN server (like OpenVPN) running to run a cloud based VPN solution. Perhaps I can find a simple way of using Amazon S3 as a strategy? Any ideas? Suggestions?

    AFAIK, ngen turns MSIL into native code (also reffered to as pre-JIT), however I never payed too much attention at it's startup performance impact. Ngen'd applications still require the .NET base class libraries (the runtime). Since the base class libraries have everything our .NET assemblies need (correct?) would it be possible to ship the framework's DLLs with my ngen'd application so that it does not require the runtime to be installed? (e.g., the scenario for most Windows XP machines) Oh, and please don't bother mentioning Remotesoft's Salamander Linker or Xenocode's Postbuild. They are not for my (and many's) current budget (and they seem to simply bundle the framework in a virtualized enviroinment, which means big download sizes and slow startup times I believe) EDIT: I know now, ngen doesn't do what I thought it did. But is it possible to bundle the .NET files with an application, without using a VM?

    I know that memory alloced using new, gets its space in heap, and so we need to delete it before program ends, to avoid memory leak. Let's look at this program... Case 1: char *MyData = new char[20]; _tcscpy(MyData,"Value"); . . . delete[] MyData; MyData = NULL; Case 2: char *MyData = new char[20]; MyData = "Value"; . . . delete[] MyData; MyData = NULL; In case 2, instead of allocating value to the heap memory, it is pointing to a string literal. Now when we do a delete it would crash, AS EXPECTED, since it is not trying to delete a heap memory. Is there a way to know where the pointer is pointing to heap or stack? By this the programmer Will not try to delete any stack memory He can investigate why does this ponter, that was pointing to a heap memory initially, is made to refer local literals? What happened to the heap memory in the middle? Is it being made to point by another pointer and delete elsewhere and all that?

When app is stared, it will play some mp3 file using AVFramework. And also initializes Audiotoolbox. In simulator, I'm able to record and play. But when I'm testing it on iPhone, I'm getting following error for initializing AudioToolBox. 2009-12-11 22:25:51.599 StoryBook[807:207] AudioRecorder init AudioSessionInitialize failed with error: 1768843636 Can some one tell me whether we can use both AV as well as Audio Toolbox frame works in one application? Why I'm getting that error?

    We're using an F5 for load balancing and SSL proxying. Behind it we're serving up java applications with Tomcat instances. These are fairly small applications - hundreds of concurrent users. I'd like to compress some of the content, and I'm looking for advice on choosing to configure compression on the F5, or on the tomcat instances. Any big factors in the decision, or is it 6-of-one half-dozen of the other?

  • Problem running a simple EJB application

    I am currently running a simple EJB application using a stateless Session Bean. I am working on NetBeans 6.8 with Personal Glassfish 3.0 and I have installed on my system both the Java EE and the Java SE. I don't know whether it is relevent but I am running Windows7 64-bit version. The Session Bean I implemented has just one method sayHello(); which just prints hello on the screen.     Hello, I am trying to create a file that contains all of the code of an app. I have created a file called catlist.txt so that the files are added in the order I need them. A snippet of my catlist.txt: app/controllers/application_controller.rb app/views/layouts/* app/models/account.rb app/controllers/accounts_controller.rb app/views/accounts/* When I run the command the files that are explicitly listed get added but the wildcard files do not. cat catlist.txt|xargs cat > fullcode I get cat: app/views/layouts/*: No such file or directory cat: app/views/accounts/*: No such file or directory Can someone help me with this. If there is an easier method I am open to all suggestions. Barb

Choices are: <lists model fields> I can do it in raw SQL like this SELECT WEEK(date) as week, COUNT(WEEK(date)) as count FROM games_game WHERE player_id = 3 GROUP BY week Is there a good way to do this without executing raw SQL in Django?

    I am using the DropBox Core API in my app and therefore, I must include the XCTest framework, because, when I haven't added the XCTest framework, my app can't connect to dropbox, however when I do add the framework, I get an error while building for the simulator. There is nothing wrong with my code!     I'm using Windows 7 on my HP ProBook 4250s. The problem I face is that my system halts for a fraction of second after every 2-3 seconds. These jerks are not letting me concentrate or work properly. This happens even when I'm just typing in notepad while no other application is running. I tried to install every driver from HP's website and there's no item in device manager marked with yellow icon.
