  I am using UrlRewriteFilter to redirect to SSL. I am running Glassfishv2. My rule looks something like this now. It's in my urlrewrite.xml in WEB-INF of my war folder. Is there any other glassfish setting that needs to be set? <rule> <condition name="host" operator="notequal">https://abc.def.com</condition> <condition name="host" operator="notequal">^$</condition> <from>^/(.*)</from> <to type="permanent-redirect" last="true">https://abc.def.com/ghi/$1</to> </rule> But FF keeps saying that the URL redirect rule is in a way that it will never complete. I am not exactly sure whats happening here. any ideas?

• What's the benefit of calling new on an object instance?

  I'm reading [Programming Perl][1], and I found this code snippet: sub new { my $invocant = shift; my $class = ref($invocant) || $invocant; my $self = { color => "bay", legs => 4, owner => undef, @_, # Override previous attributes }; return bless $self, $class; } With constructors like this one, what's the benefit of calling new on an object instance? I assume that it's what it's for, right? My guess is that if anyone would want to write such a constructor, he would have to add some more code that copies the attributes of the first object to the one about to be created.

• iOS iPad Master Detail template can't interact with detail view

  I have an iPad app generated from the Master-Detail template in XCode. The iPad Storyboard has under the Detail View Controller a View that holds a ScrollView which holds an ImageView. In the DetailViewController.m file I added the following code to allow the ScrollView to move and zoom the image: -(UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return self.comicImage; } This works great on the iPhone (it's a universal app) but not the iPad; I can scroll and zoom the image on the iPhone no problem, but on the iPad it's like the ScrollView isn't responding to the touches, and I can't figure out how to pass the touches on to the ScrollView. I've already deactivated the popover controller from appearing with a right swipe like this: self.splitViewController.presentsWithGesture = NO; How do I make it so the user can interact with the ScrollView in the DetailViewController?

I created virtual directory of my silverlight project in IIS for application hosting. 4. When I browse MainPage.xaml in loaclhost, it is not running. I think I shoul run the .xap file to host my application but I dont know haw??? OR Is it necessary to host a silverlight application from a .aspx page??

• UIActionSheet Cancel button keeps crashing my app

  I am really puzzeled by this one. I have set up two UIActionSheets in my application. They work perfectly fine until you use the cancel button in the UIActionSheets.   I'm using zend framework. currently everytime I need to use the db I go ahead and connect to the DB: function connect(){ $connParams = array("host" => $host, "port" => $port, "username" => $username, "password" => $password, "dbname" => $dbname); $db = new Zend_Db_Adapter_Pdo_Mysql($connParams); return $db } so I would just call the connect() function everytime I need to use the db My question is...suppose I want to reuse $db everywhere in my site and only connect once in the very initial stage of the site load and then close the connection right before the site gets sent to the user, what would be the best practice to accomplish this? Which file in Zend should I save $db in, what method should I use to save it (global variable?), and which file should I do the connection closing in?

We're using some asynchronous encryption and he is using the ruby OpenSSL bindings for that: key = OpenSSL::PKey::RSA.generate(4096) self.public_key = key.public_key self.private_key = key What I'm looking for is a simple API which is compatible to OpenSSL and runs on the JVM. I need it to create key-pairs and to encrypt and sign our payload. Do you have any suggestions?

• Why does UIActionSheet cancel crahes my App?

  I try to use the UIActionSheet within my iPhone App but have the following problem. When I tap the cancel button "I don't", the app crashes. When I remove the NSLog statement from the actionSheet:clickedButtonAtIndex: it does not. The "Yes, do it" button works just fine and I see the log statement in the console. • How do I dynamically update an instance array to hold a list of dynamic methods on instantiation?

  I am trying to dynamically define methods based on xml mappings. This works really well. However I want to create an instance variable that is a array of the dynamically defined methods. • Weird Animation when inserting a row in UITableView

  I have tableview which holds a list of data, when users press "Edit" i add an extra row at the bottom saying "add new" - (void)setEditing:(BOOL)editing animated:(BOOL)animated { [super setEditing:editing animated:animated]; NSArray *paths = [NSArray arrayWithObject: [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:1 inSection:0]]; if (editing) { [[self tableView] insertRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } else { [[self tableView] deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:paths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationTop]; } } and of course the UITableView transform with animation, but weird thing is the row before the row that i just added, has different animation than all others. all rows perform "slides in" animation, but that 2nd last one did a "fade in" animation. and i didnt set any animation on the 2nd last row (or any other row), and if i didnt add the new row in, the animation slides in as normal when i switch to editing mode. somehow i cant find an answer, i check with contact app on my phone, it didnt have that weird animation as i have, when they adding a new row on editing mode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• Cannot connect via HTTPS in Java app on MacOSX (Certificate validation issue)

  I have a java application that connects to a webservice over https. The domain where i host the webservice has a valid Goddaddy issued SSL certificate. The application works fine on Windows but on MacOSx i receive the following exception when attempting to connect to the webservice via https. sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target I've tested it on two machines running Mac OS X 10.7.2 with the latest java runtime updates. I understand this is usually a problem with self signed certificates that need to be added manually, but i have a valid Godaddy issued certificate. In webbrowsers (safari & firefox) on mac os the certificate is recognized and seems ok. I even tried adding the certificate to the key chain manually like in the gase of a self signed one but to no result.

  I'm trying to get the def wfsc_pod1 and wfsc_ip into the same def. I'm not quite sure how to approach the problem. I want wfsc_pod1 to display all the information for name, subnet and gateway. Then wfsc_ip shows the ip addresses below it. I also get a None value when I run it as it. Not sure why. • Spring Framework HttpRequestHandler failure

  We have an application which communicates via REST requests made by clients. The REST requests contain "region name" and a "ID" as parameters So, a request would look something like this (for a DELETE) http://host:port/regionnameID These REST requests between regions in a federation are properly URL encoded I find that these request fail if the region name has a slash ("/") in it. Then, the request would look like so http://host:port/region/nameID This is due to incorrect interpretation of the Rest URL by HttpRequesthandler when there is a '/' in the region name. Now, we have no control over clients sending REST request with "/" in the Region name. Is there any method / configuration / workaround that can be done to prevent the HttpRequestHandler from returning 404

I created some apps, some of those are related to User model, for instance, I have a feeds app that handles user feeds, and another app that deals with extra user data like age, contacts, and friends. for each of these, I created a table that should be connected to the User model, which I using for storing and authenticating users. I found two ways to deal with this issue. One, is through extending User model to be like this: ModelName(User): friends = models.ManyToMany('self') ..... Two, is through adding a foreign key to the new table like this: ModelName(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) friends = friends = models.ManyToMany('self') ...... I can't decide which to use in which case. in other words, what are the core differences between both?

  So I have my rails application and I have blog posts in my application. For starters I am on rails 2.3.5 and Ruby 1.8.7 For the show page, I am required to give a prev/next link to the prev/next blog post. The catch is that I need to find the next blog where the language column in the database is equal to 'eng'.   In a xhtml, i want to highlight the text between two self closing tags s1 and s2 whose attribute value is the same. Eg. <s1 ind="1"/> and <s2 ind="1" /> Eg. <html> <body> <a> <b>Some <s1 ind="1"/> text</b> <c>data <s2 ind="1"/>here</c> </a> </body> </html> I want "text data" to get highlighted. Is is possible to achieve using javascript/jquery? I could have many such self closing tag pairs s1 and s2 with a unique value for "ind" for the pair indicating that the text within them needs to be highlighted.

• Interrupting `while loop` with keyboard in Cython

  I want to be able to interrupt a long function with cython, using the usual CTRL+C interrupt command. My C++ long function is repeatedly called inside a while loop from Cython code, but I want to be able, during the loop, to send an "interrupt" and block the while loop. The interrupt also should wait the longFunction() to finish, so that no data are lost or kept in unknown status.   Hey all. I know this question's been asked but I still don't have a clear picture of memory management in Objective-C. I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of it, but I'd still like some correct answers for the following code. I have a series of examples that I'd love for someone(s) to clarify. Setting a value for an instance variable. Say I have an NSMutableArray variable. In my class, when I initialize it, do I need to call a retain on it? Do I do fooArray = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] init] retain]; or fooArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; Does doing [[NSMutableArray alloc] init] already set the retain count to 1, so I wouldn't need to call retain on it? On the other hand, if I called a method that I know returns an autoreleased object, I would for sure have to call retain on it, right? Like so: fooString = [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d items", someInt] retain]; Properties. I ask about the retain because I'm a bit confused about how @property's automatic setter works. If I had set fooArray to be a @property with retain set, Objective-C will automatically create the following setter, right? - (void)setFooArray:(NSMutableArray *)anArray { [fooArray release]; fooArray = [anArray retain]; } So, if I had code like this: self.fooArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; (which I believe is valid code), Objective-C creates a setter method that calls retain on the value assigned to fooArray. In this case, will the retain count actually be 2? Correct way of setting a value of a property. I know there are questions on this and (possibly) debates, but which is the right way to set a @property? This? self.fooArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; Or this? NSMutableArray *anArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; self.fooArray = anArray; [anArray release]; I'd love to get some clarification on these examples. Thanks!
