• Spring MessageSource not being used during validation

  I can't get my messages in messages.properties to be used during Spring validation of my form backing objects. app-config.xml: <bean id="messageSource" class="org.springframework.context.support.ResourceBundleMessageSource"> <property name="basename" value="messages" /> </bean> WEB-INF/classes/messages.properties: NotEmpty=This field should not be empty. Form Backing Object: ... @NotEmpty @Size(min=6, max=25) private String password; ... When I loop through all errors in the BindingResult and output the ObjectError's toString I get this: Field error in object 'settingsForm' on field 'password': rejected value []; codes [NotEmpty.settingsForm.password,NotEmpty.password,NotEmpty.java.lang.String,NotEmpty]; arguments [org.springframework.context.support.DefaultMessageSourceResolvable: codes [settingsForm.password,password]; arguments []; default message [password]]; default message [may not be empty] As you can see the default message is "may not be empty" instead of my message "This field should not be empty". I do get my correct message if I inject the messageSource into a controller and output this: messageSource.getMessage("NotEmpty", new Object [] {"password"}, "default empty message", null); So why isn't the validation using my messages.properties? I'm running Spring 3.1.1. Thanks!

• Upload file using jquery dialog not working

  i want to upload file using jquery dialog. I have created a partial view and showing that partial view in the dialog. The problem is, when I directly browse the partial view and upload a file, it works perfect. BUT when I put the partial view inside a jquery dialog, it submits the form, but don't submits the file. So i have null value. I really dont understand what is the difference here!! • WinForms: How to determine if window is no longer active (no child window has focus)?

I would expect GetActiveWindow to return the handle of the new active window when called from the Deactivate handler. Instead it always returns the handle of my application window. How is this possible? Is the Deactivate event handled "too soon"? (while the main form is still active?). How can I detect that my application has lost focus (my application window is not the active window) and another application gained it without running GetActiveWindow on a timer?

• Handling row selection from a simple grid using jquery and asp.net mvc

  Using a simple table and jquery, how would you manually handle selection using jquery? So far, I've managed to add a gridrowselected class on the tr when the click event is called so that I'll know which row is currently selected. But I don't know how to pass the selected data back to the controller (or at least an index I placed on the row). • How to define default values optional fields in play framework forms?

  I am implementing a web api using the scala 2.0.2 play framework. I would like to extract and validate a number of get parameters. And for this I am using a play "form" which allows me to define optional fields. Problem: For those optional fields, I need to define a default value if the parameter is not passed. The code is intended to parse correctly these three use cases: /test?top=abc (error, abc is not an integer) /test?top=123 (valid, top is 123) /test (valid, top is 42 (default value)) I have come up with the following code: def test = Action { implicit request => case class CData(top:Int) val p = Form( mapping( "top" -> optional(number) )((top) => CData($top.getOrElse(42))) ((cdata:CData) => Some(Some(cdata.top))) ).bindFromRequest() Ok("all done.") } The code works, but it's definitely not elegant. There is a lot of boiler plate going on just to set up a default value for a missing request parameter. Can anyone suggest a cleaner and more coincise solution?

• How do I determine whether calculation was completed, or detect interrupted calculation?

  I have a rather large workbook that takes a really long time to calculate. It used to be quite a challenge to get it to calculate all the way, since Excel is so eager to silently abort calculation if you so much as look at it. To help alleviate the problem, I created some VBA code to initiate the the calculation, which is initiated by a form, and the result is that it is not quite as easy to interrupt the calculation process, but it is still possible. (I can easily do this by clicking the close X on the form, but I imagine there are other ways) Rather than taking more steps to try and make it harder to interrupt calculation, I'd like to have the code detect whether calculation is complete, so it can notify the user rather than just blindly forging on into the rest of the steps in my code. So far, I can't find any way to do that. I've seen references to Application.CalculationState, but the value is xlDone after I interrupt calculation, even if I interrupt the calculation after a few seconds (it normally takes around an hour). I can't think of a way to do this by checking the value of cells, since I don't know which one is calculated last. I see that there is a way to mark cells as "dirty" but I haven't been able to find a way to check the dirtiness of a cell. And I don't know if that's even the right path to take, since I'd likely have to check every cell in every sheet. The act of interrupting calculation does not raise an error, so my ON ERROR doesn't get triggered. Is there anything I'm missing? Any ideas? Any ideas?

• C#: Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture not working consistently

  I've been working on a pet project on the weekends to learn more about C# and have encountered an odd problem when working with localization. To be more specific, the problem I have is with System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture. I've set up my app so that the user can quickly change the language of the app by clicking a menu item. The menu item in turn, saves the two-letter code for the language (e.g. "en", "fr", etc.) in a user setting called 'Language' and then restarts the application. Properties.Settings.Default.Language = "en"; Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); Application.Restart(); When the application is started up, the first line of code in the Form's constructor (even before InitializeComponent()) fetches the Language string from the settings and sets the CurrentUICulture like so: public Form1() { Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = new CultureInfo(Properties.Settings.Default.Language); InitializeComponent(); } The thing is, this doesn't work consistently. Sometimes, all works well and the application loads the correct language based on the string saved in the settings file. Other times, it doesn't, and the language remains the same after the application is restarted. At first I thought that I didn't save the language before restarting the application but that is definitely not the case. When the correct language fails to load, if I were to close the application and run it again, the correct language would come up correctly. So this implies that the Language string has been saved but the CurrentUICulture assignment in my form constructor is having no effect sometimes. Any help? Is there something I'm missing of how threading works in C#? This could be machine-specific, so if it makes any difference I'm using Pentium Dual-Core CPU.

• The Function Works But Reports this.refresh() is not a function

  I get this.refresh() is not a function in the error log every time I use this function but it works fine. Also, when I click on this function for the first time, this.value=undefined. When I click the function again in this form and every other form, the value populates just fine with the previous value. What could I be doing wrong? How do I write this function more efficiently? I still don't quite understand how to use this.value to capture and store a value within an array. • How would I go about letting a user add and associate a comma separated list of categories while add

  I've been struggling for quite a while to get this feature working: I want my user to be able to select categories when uploading a photograph, but additionally be able to specify a comma-separated list of categories to create/find and associate with the photograph. I've had this working by using an attr_accessor :new_categories on the photographs model, but having that there without the column existing breaks both Paperclip and Exifr. Obviously, image upload and EXIF data retrieval are pretty important for a photography website, but not being able to add categories while uploading a photograph is a pain in the arse. Methods I've tried so far: Using attr_accessor to add a field for new_categories. Breaks gems. Using an Ajax sub-form to add categories. Formtastic can't handle it. Adding a column for new_categories to the photograph model. It works, but it's horrific. I haven't tried using a nested form, but I'd need to intercept it and stop it from processing it as normal. I don't understand why in my WebTestCase, I can access to the new Entity Manager...

• Keeping user data persistent after validates_presence_of

  I'm designing a question-and-answer Ruby on Rails application. After a user logs in, you can see a list of questions posed by other users. I have a link next to each of the questions to /answers/new?question_id=someNumber. That links to a page that displays the question (to remind the "answerer") above a standard form for submitting your answer. In order to display the question, I call @question = Question.find_by_id(params[:question_id]) and reference @question in the Haml view file: Question details %h2 #{h @question.title} #{h @question.description} %br/ %br/ %h1 Your answer - form_for(@answer) do |f| = f.error_messages %p = f.label :description, "Enter your response here" %br = f.text_area :description = f.hidden_field "question", :value => @question.id %p = f.submit 'Answer' The problem is that if I check validates_presence_of :description in Answer.rb, then I lose question_id if the user did not input anything into the description field when the page reloads, so I can't re-display the question for which the user is answering. How should I fix this? Is there a better way of storing the question the user is trying to answer so that I can display it above the form for entering a new answer (and perhaps in other views in the future)? If you need to see more code, please let me know.

I think my problem may be within how I am referencing the input field names, with brackets (I'm taking results from this form as an array so I'm already used to working with the results as a multi-dimensional array).   Cenario: I have a GridView bound to a DataSource, every column is sortable. my main query is something like: select a, b, c, d, e, f from table order by somedate desc i added a filter form where i can define values to each one of the fields and get the results of a where form. As a result from this, i had to do a custom sorting so that when i sort by a field, i am sorting the filtered query and not the main one. Now i have to do custom paging, for the same reason, but i don't understand the philosophy of it: I want to guarantee that i can: filter the results sort by a column when i click on page 2, i get page two of the filtered and sorted results I don't know what i have to do, so i can bind the GV with this. • Mysterious double execution of Click handler after change to Windows 2008 Server

  After moving a Delphi 2009 application from a Windows 2003 / Citrix environment to a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 environment (users now use RDP instead of Citrix), there are frequent runtime errors which are caused by a double exection of a menu item click handler. • comparing value with array value problem Javascript

  This code is what I use now, it dos not work when I trie to use an array to compate values. • .NET - Unable to get values from Value property of HtmlInputHidden

  I have a custom control that inherits from .NET's CompositeControl class. This control overrides the CreateChildControls in order to build its child controls dynamically. I need the page to post back after a couple different javascript events occur on the client side. In order to accomplish this, I create two hidden controls on the page so I can set their values with javascript, submit the page, and read the values out on server side. Here's is the code I use to create these two hiddens: Protected Overrides Sub CreateChildControls() hdEventName = New HiddenField() Controls.Add(hdEventName) hdEventName.ID = "hdEventName" hdEventArgs = New HiddenField() Controls.Add(hdEventArgs) hdEventArgs.ID = "hdEventValue" ' other controls ' ... End Sub When a javascript event occurs I set the value attribute of the two hiddens and submit the page, like so: hdEventName.value = 'EventName'; hdEventArgs.value = 'arg1,arg2'; document.forms[0].submit(); In the OnLoad method of my control, I attempt to check the Value property of the hdEventName and hdEventArgs controls, but it is always empty. However, Page.Request.Form(hdEventName.UniqueID) and Page.Request.Form(hdEventArgs.UniqueID) return correct values. The actual HTML in the markup also shows correct values after the page posts back. Why is the Value property of the HtmlInputHiddens disconnected from the actual value that appears on the client?

• JSF2: Re-render all components on page that have a given ID, without absolute paths

  Is there any way in JSF 2.0/PrimeFaces of re-rendering all components (using the PrimeFaces update="id1 id2..." attribute or the <f:ajax render="..."/> tag) that have got a given ID, regardless of whether they are in the same form that contains the button triggering the AJAX re-render or not? For example, I want my button to re-render all sections on a page that visualize the user's current shopping basket. Right now, I always have to specify the absolute path to the components that I want to get updated, e.g. update=":header:basket :left-sidebar:menu:basket" which is rather impractical if the structure of the page changes (besides, I have not been able to figure out the correct path for one of these components). I already tried to implement a custom EL function like this, which traverses the component tree: update="{utilBean.findAllComponentsMatchingId('basket')}" but at the time that function is evaluated, apparently not the entire component tree has been set up as it doesn't contain the components I am looking for. How can I deal with this? There certainly must be an easy way of doing AJAX-based updates of sections of the page that are not part of the current <h:form>? Thanks!

• Seperating two graphs based on connectivity and coordinates

  I would like to separate existing data of vertices and edges into two or more graphs that are not connected. I would like to give the following as example: Imagine two hexagons on top of each other but are lying in different Z. Hexagon 1 has the following vertices A(0,0,1), B(1,0,2), C(2,1,2), D(1,2,1), E(0,2,1), F(-1,2,1). The connectivity is as following: A-B, B-C, C-D, D-E, E-F, F-A. This part of Graph 1 as all the vertices are connected in this layer. Hexagon2 has the following vertices A1(0,0,6), B1(1,0,7), C1(2,1,7), D1(1,2,8), E1(0,2,7), F1(-1,2,6). The connectivity is as following: A1-B1, B1-C1, C1-D1, D1-E1, E1-F1, F1-A1. This is part of Graph 2 My data is in the following form: list of Vertices and list of Edges that i can form graphs with. I would like to eliminate graph 2 and give only vertices and connectivity of graph 1 to polygon determination part of my algorithm. My real data contains around 1000 connected polygons as graph 1 and around 100 (much larger in area) polygons as graph 2. I would like to eliminate graph 2. I am programming this in python. When I replace <%=String.Format(getuser())% with an actual userid, I get the value in my flex application. But this code returns nothing. What am I doing wrong?
