I have a Width and Height parametr. I have been given an array of colors in such format: [r, g, b, a, r, g, b, a, r, g, b, a... etc] Data can be acsessed by something like this for(var y = 0; y < height; y++) { for(var x = 0; x < width; x++) { r = data[y*width + x + 0] g = data[y*width + x + 1] b = data[y*width + x + 2] a = data[y*width + x + 3] } } I want to paint that data on some sprite. How to do such thing? BTW: I use Flash Builder for mxml+actionscript coding. So if it is easy for you you can give example using MXML (not todraw on some sprite but on some MXML component).

Virtualization of Legacy API and co-existence with more modern API?

I don't mean for this question to be a flame bait but I'll be using Microsoft and their win32 API as a example of a legacy API. Now what I am wondering here is Microsoft is spending a lots of their money and energy in maintaining their legacy API, including all of the "glitches/bugs/workaround" that are needed to keep the API functioning the same. Now I'm aware that in Windows 7 they are providing a way for the customer to run their application in a "Windows XP" VM which would be one such way for them to start cleaning up their win32 API because they could then push all of the application into the "Windows XP" VM. So now what I am wondering is, is it possible to virtualization a legacy API in such way that an customer/program can still access and use it, yet at the same time be able to take advantage of the newer version/API? Because as far as I understand it, if the application is ran in the "Windows XP" VM, it won't be able to access any of the newer API/feature of Windows 7.

GDI+, using DrawImage to draw a transperancy mask of the source image

Is it possible to draw a transperancy mask of an image (that is, paint all visible pixels with a constant color) using Graphics::DrawImage? I am not looking for manually scanning the image pixel-by-pixel and creating a seperate mask image, I wonder if it's possible to draw one directly from the original image. My guessing is that it should be done with certain manipulations to ImageAttributes, if possible at all. The color of the mask is arbitrary and should be accurate, and it would be a plus if there can be a threshold value for the transparency.

Installing SharePoint 2010 on a dev machine with an external database

I've been following Microsoft's guide for installing a dev environment on Windows 7: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869.aspx In order for it to not run like a dog I've created a SQL Server 2008 instance on our database server specifically for this dev machine. The article does mention that you might be wanting to use an external database in regard to making sure the database cumulative update is installed. It doesn't make any other mention of configuring it to use a external database. I was hoping that the configuration wizard would then prompt about which database to use but annoyingly it just set-up the configuration database locally. How do I go about installing SharePoint on a dev environment with an external database, and will I need to reformat this machine and do it all again?

Which libraries use the "We Know Where You Live" optimization for std::make_shared?

Over two years ago, Stephan T. Lavavej described a space-saving optimization he implemented in Microsoft's implementation of std::make_shared, and I know from speaking with him that Microsoft has nothing against other library implementations adopting this optimization. If you know for sure whether other libraries (e.g., for Gnu C++, Clang, Intel C++, plus Boost (for boost::make_shared)) have adopted this implementation, please contribute an answer. I don't have ready access to that many make_shared implementations, nor am I wild about digging into the bowels of the ones I have to see if they've implemented the WKWYL optimization, but I'm hoping that SO readers know the answers for some libraries off-hand. I know from looking at the code that as of Boost 1.52, the WKWYL optimization had not been implemented, but Boost is now up to version 1.55. Note that this optimization is different from std::make_shared's ability to avoid a dedicated heap allocation for the reference count used by std::shared_ptr. But I can't catch context menu event every time I click right mouse button. How to Get SharePoint PowerShell to use .NET 2

I'm having a couple of problems with PowerShell. First, the PS configuration installed by SharePoint 2010 keeps popping this message: The local farm is not accessible. Cmdlets with FeatureDependencyId are not registered. I've googled that, and given everybody and their second cousin Sharepoint_Shell_Access to the config DB, with no luck. So, I wanted to try some of the PS commands. In this case, however, I'm getting a different error: Microsoft SharePoint is not supported with version 4.0.30319.17929 of the Microsoft .Net Runtime. I get that SP can't use .NET 4.0 or 4.5, but I can't find any suggestions on how to get PS to use the "right" version of .NET. I've found some references for something called PowerGUI, and changing the psgui.exe.config, but I don't have that. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to solve the .NET version problem? How to modify the Title Bar text for SQL Server Management Studio?

Sometimes I keep multiple instances of SQL Server Management Studio 2005 open. I might have the dev database open in one, and the production database open in another. These appear in the Windows task bar with the text "Microsoft SQL Serve...", which means it's impossible to differentiate between them unless I open the window and scroll the Object Explorer up to see what server the window is actually connected to. Is ther any way that I can get the window to display the server name first, and then the name of the application? Like "Dev-DB.database_name - Microsoft SQL Serve..." or whatever?

Checking for null : if (termStore.Groups[groupName] == null) seems like a logical (clean) approach, but if the Groups collection is empty then an exception is produced. using the termStore.Groups.Contains is not an option either because this expects a strong type i.e: .Contains(Group)... not .Contains(GroupName as string) Can someone recommend a clean / generic way I can check for if an item exists in collection . I was wondering if there was a tool to convert a path data like "M 0 0 l 10 10" to it's equivalent line/curve segment code. However converting a lot of paths by hand is very tedious.

flipping 2d components in java

i am trying to flip a pentahex (5 hexagons joined at their sides). Is it possible to do so in Java? I mean suppose 2 of the 3 hexagons are in one quadrant can I change their quadrant? It is similar to what we do to flip images in Paint. The same utility I am trying to perform in Java. I have heard about Affine transform wherein it makes use of a bit called TYPE_FLIP, but I am not sure how to use it. Any small example would be of great help. Note: I do not want to flip images, but actual 2D objects.

C# Get video file duration from metadata

I am trying to read metadata from a file. I only need the Video - Length property, however I am unable to find a simple way of reading this information. I figured this would be fairly easy since it is visible by default in Explorer, however this looks to be way more complicated than I anticipated. The closest I came was using: Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video video = new Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Video(str); double duration = video.Duration; However this throws a LoaderLock exception, and I don't know how to deal with it. Any ideas?

Are ASCII diagrams worth my time?

Are ASCII diagrams within source code worth the time they take to create? I could create a bitmap diagram much faster, but images are much more difficult to in line in a source file (until VS2010). Why do Java and C# not have implicit conversions to boolean?

Since I started Java it's been very aggravating for me that it doesn't support implicit conversions from numeric types to booleans, so you can't do things like: if (flags & 0x80) { ... } instead you have to go through this lunacy: if ((flags & 0x80) != 0) { ... } It's the same with null and objects. Every other C-like language I know including JavaScript allows it, so I thought Java was just moronic, but I've just discovered that C# is the same (at least for numbers, don't know about null/objects): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/c8f5xwh7(VS.71).aspx Microsoft changed it on purpose from C++, so why? Clearly I'm missing something. Why change (what I thought was) the most natural thing in the world to make it longer to type? What on Earth is wrong with it?

Different versions in manifest on different machines

Hi guys, Have two machines, both with VS2005 SP1 installed and with the WinSXS showing the same things installed. When one machine builds a particular C++ .dll .vcproj it ends up with <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.MFC' version='8.0.50727.762' processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> in its manifest file. But on the other machine it ends up with <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.MFC' version='8.0.50608.0 processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> even though this machine does not have '8.0.50608.0' libraries listed in its WinSXS. The .dll built on this machine with the older version referenced has some problems. I have ensured both machines have the same latest source code and references etc.. What could be causing it to build with the different reference? Thanks! Terry

Hello, I can't seem to find the "Build" option under "Configuration Properties" folder in the Property Pages of my project. I've been looking everywhere trying to figure out how to do it. I followed the direations here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc302121.aspx More specifically here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azt1z1eh.aspx ("To build the XML Documentation sample within Visual Studio" section) I want to generate XML comments for my project in the build, but my "Configuration Properties" window does not have "folders" or a "Build" option under it. I'm using Visual Studio Team System 2008, any ideas? EDIT - This is a website [project-less] and it is written in both C# and VB.NET. Do I need to download any tools? I found GhostDoc but that's not helping me very much.

Looking for a managed image parser library (JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF)

I am writing a discussion board software that will have "avatar" images for the users. I want to resize any picture that gets uploaded to a reasonable size. I could easily do that with System.Drawing but that is relying on GDI+ which has hat security problems before. The problem is that the images are untrusted. So I thought of using a fully managed lib to solve that problem because managed code cannot escape the sandbox (of course it can, but only if the code is user-supplied which it is not in my case). So does anybody know of a managed image parser library for JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF? If some format is missing than I will have to live with that. Edit: Paint.NET also relies on GDI+. You might be interested in the discussion below, too.

They mention something about uniqueidentifier and ROWGUID but I have not been able to make it work. How do I download an attachment from an annotation using client-side JScript?

I'm trying to provide a link to the attachment of a note through the client-side JScript. The standard MS-made Notes component does this through the following url: [serverurl]/[appname]/Activities/Attachment/download.aspx?AttachmentType=5&AttachmentId={blahblahblah}&IsNotesTabAttachment=1&CRMWRPCToken=blahblahblah&CRMWRPCTokenTimeStamp=blahblahblah The problem is that I don't know how to get the Token or TokenTimeStamp, so I'm receiving an Access Denied error ("form is no longer available, security precaution, etc"). The only other way I can think of doing this is through the OData endpoint, but that would at best get me a base64 string that I still would have translate into a filestream to give to the browser (all of which seems like it would take forever to implement/figure out). Animate a e.Graphics.DrawLine with arrowhead

I need to "animate" an arrow. It can go in any direction (up, down, left, right and diagonals) and the arrowhead will be at the end. It needs to appear as if it is growing from orgin to the end. To make matters more complicated it has to be in a user control so it is possible to add to the controls collection in the forms and remove it to delete it from the screen, and its background is really transparent (no color.transparent) so i can't paint the background to "clear" the previous line. I have it static already (drawn from origin to end) but i can't animate it. I tried to add a timer in the user control but I fail to get a correct algorithm to calculate the intermediate ends of the line while it is growing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
