  • Compressing an uncompressed MSI file

    We have a setup project that produces an uncompressed MSI file and no Setup.exe at all, to be later compressed by NSIS. In a special build setting, I want to copy that MSI before it's being wrapped by NSIS, change the copy, and keep it. I would also like to compress it, after it has been created by the msbuild. Is there a simple way (command line tool of some kind, maybe?) I can use to just compress an already created msi file?

  • How do i keep my DB and lucene in sync?

    So i can have a transaction in sql. But i am sure its not a good idea to wait in the middle of a transaction for lucene to finish also i am unsure if lucene is permanently saved in the DB until i do something there. Whats the best way to keep my DB and lucene in sync? I am thinking of adding a lucene_queue in my sql db and everytime i make a change i add it into the queue (removing older queue if any) and delete it once it is done. Is this the best way? Also i am unsure how to make lucene permanently keep the changes i made and how frequent i can/should do it.

    Hey folks I'm trying to prepend a gzip script at the beginning of every file using php_value auto_prepend_file gzip_start.php in my .htaccess. The problem is that I've already got a document called combine.php that gzips it contents. What I need to know is, how I can exclude combine.php from the files who get the gzip prepended. I thought about using filesmatch, but can only figure out how to do it on just that one file, and not the exact opposite. Any ideas?

    Hi guys, I've made a library which I'd like to compile to an SWC file, I've tried to do this in FDT by choosing FDT AS3 Library as Run settings, but all I end up with is a 0kb .swc file. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I can't find much when I google it either, if anybody has a quick walkthrough on how to do it saved in your bookmarks or something, that would be great!     A friend and I were debating about whether he should use MySQL or a flatfile database for his website's backend. I told him to go with MySQL because it was structured, held records well, and was consistent. He on the other hand said that he would rather go for speed. Reading files is a lot quicker than connecting to MySQL and it made me wonder whether he was right. For example, why not just create a folder for each table, like so: users/ groups/ posts/, within the folders have the files named by ID (1, 2, 3) and then for the data use a format like so: username: John\npassword: e2fc714c4727ee9395f324cd2e7f331f\nemail: [email protected]? In other words, what are the advantages of MySQL over flatfiles?

    I find a similar post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/58510/using-net-how-can-you-find-the-mime-type-of-a-file-based-on-the-file-signature and it is the same result I want, I tried to use it but I received always application/octet-stream instead of video/x-flv or video/x-msvideo. I think I miss something, have you any suggest for me? Should I add some kind of information on my workspace?

    I've recently been migrated to windows 7, and upon re-installing VS2010, it seems to want to treat .mk files differently than it used to. For whatever reason, it insists on opening a new instance of visual studio to edit these files. It doesn't for .c, .h, etc. I've tried using types, a freeware association manager, to change how it is associated. I've deleted the association, recreated, etc. but it still seems to want to treat these separately. Anybody know how to beat this thing into submission?
