  • How can I prevent cron from filling up my syslog?

    I have a script which needs to be executed each minute. The problem is that cron is logging to /var/log/syslog each time it executes. I end up seeing something like this repeated over and over in /var/log/syslog- Jun 25 00:56:01 myhostname /USR/SBIN/CRON[1144]: (root) CMD (php /path/to/script.php /dev/null) btw- i'm using debian My questions is- Is there any way I can tell cron not write this information to syslog every time?

  • Reg Query Issues

    I have a batch script that does reporting on our systems and part of it queries the registry for information. The script fails to get the key's value when its ran by the system, but whenever I run the script myself, it works perfectly the command: REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion" /v PatternStringFormatted > current1.tmp should return: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TrendMicro\ScanMail for Exchange\CurrentVersion PatternStringFormatted REG_SZ 6.645.00 This script is failing on a Server 2008 R2 machine, but runs fine on Server 2003 R2 machines.

    This is my first time running a postfixadmin, so in my setup.php, I'm getting this error DEBUG INFORMATION: Invalid query: Unknown column 'create_date' in 'mailbox' I'm running it with MySQL. So if i'm right, my guess is that i need to create a column? under mailbox table on the postfix database? but how or whats the right syntax into creating a timedate column? My knowledge with mysql and postfix are very minimal btw. Thanks in advance.

    I recently purchased a Acer Aspire TimelineU M5-481TG-6814, only to discover that the sound isn't working. Through my research, it seems that the most probable cause is that the onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS. However, the option to enable the onboard audio just isn't present in the BIOS.     VMWare tools not installing on Ubuntu 12.04. I'm using Chef to manage the installation, but the Apt commands fail if run manually. I'm using the VMWare tool Debian repo.     I am trying to reference my .asmx webservices in .NET but my server is not exposed to the internet. When I put on the following address I get the message mentioned below. What's the reason for not being able to see the directory? Am I missing something in my IIS configuraction? Am I missing anything in my permissions? Just as reference I have other folders with webservices and I have the same issue. When I login to the server I am doing it with my windows user and password (I am using windows authentication). It's necessary to mention that when I put the URL I am getting a popup screen to put in my userid and password but it seems that's not able to validate since keeps asking me a couple of times.   • Can I see the SMTP session log when Mail.app connects to an SMPT server?

    Problem: I've set up a mail server using SASL authentication, and have given Mail.app (on Mac Os 10.4) the login information it needs to connect. I wrote a test message for it to deliver to my server: the Activity window shows that it tries to deliver the message, but then it simply stops, with no indication of error, except that the test message is left in the Outbox. How can I find out what went wrong? Is there some log file I don't know about?

I mean they advertise 28.8Mb/Sec for the 3G Data but in reality if a lot of people use it say 10 , it wont give 288Mb/Sec bandwidth. I didn't find anywhere where such information is published so I thought to ask here. Don' know why the cell operators keep it such a secret :)
