I am now writing a report about MS Access and I can't find any information about its performance speed in comparison to other alternatives such as Micorsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc... It's obvious that MS Access is going to be the slowest among the rest, but there is no solid documents confirming this other than forums threads, and I don't have the time and resources to do the research myself :( Hoping for your help, V.S.

    I was hoping someone could help me out. I'm building a CRM application and need help modifying the .htaccess file to clean up the URLs. I've read every post regarding .htaccess and mod_rewrite and I've even tried using http://www.generateit.net/mod-rewrite/ to obtain the results with no success. Here is what I am attempting to do. Let's call the base URL www.domain.com We are using php with a mysql back-end and some jQuery and javascript In that "root" folder is my .htaccess file. I'm not sure if I need a .htaccess file in each subdirectory or if one in the root is enough. We have several actual directories of files including "crm", "sales", "finance", etc. First off we want to strip off all the ".php" extensions which I am able to do myself thanks to these posts. However, the querying of the company and contact IDs are where I am stuck. Right now if I load www.domain.com/crm/companies.php it displays all the companies in a list. If I click on one of the companies it uses javascript to call a "goto_company(x)" jQuery script that writes a form and submit that form based on the ID (x) of the company. This works fine and keeps the links clean as all the end user sees is www.domain.com/crm/company.php. However you can't navigate directly to a company. So we added a few lines in PHP to see if the POST is null and try a GET instead allowing us to do www.domain.com/crm/company.php?companyID=40 which displays company #40 out of the database. I need to rewrite this link, and all other associated links to www.domain.com/crm/company/40 I've tried everything and nothing seems to work. Keep in mind that I need to do this for "contacts" and also on the sales portion of the app will need to do something for "deals". To summarize here's what I am looking to do: Change www.domain.com/crm/dash.php to www.domain.com/crm/dash Change www.domain.com/crm/company.php?companyID=40 to www.domain.com/crm/company/40 Change www.domain.com/crm/contact.php?contactID=27 to www.domain.com/crm/contact/27 Change www.domain.com/sales/dash.php to www.domain.com/sales/dash Change www.domain.com/sales/deal.php?dealID=6 to www.domain.com/sales/deal/6 (40, 27, and 6 are just arbitrary numbers as examples) Just for reference, when I used the generateit.net/mod-rewrite site using www.domain.com/crm/company.php?companyID=40 as an example, here is what it told me to put in my .htaccess file: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^crm/company/([^/]*)$ /crm/company.php?companyID=$1 [L] Needless to say that didn't work.

  • Perl Script to search and replace in .SQL query file with user inputs

    I have a .SQL file containing a large number of queries. They are being run against a database containing data for multiple states over multiple years. The machine I am running this on can only handle running the queries for one state, in one year, at a time. I am trying to create a Perl script that takes user input for the state abbreviation, the state id number, and the year. It then creates a directory for that state and year. Then it opens the "base" .SQL file and searches and replaces the base state id and year with the user input, and saves this new .SQL file to the created directory. The current script I have (below) stops at open(IN,'<$infile') with "Can't open [filename]" It seems that it is having difficulty finding or opening the .SQL file. I have quadruple-checked to make sure the paths are correct, and I have even tried replacing the $path with an absolute path for the base file. If it was having trouble with creating the new file I'd have more direction, but since it can't find/open the base file I do not know how to proceed. #!/usr/local/bin/perl use Cwd; $path = getcwd(); #Cleans up the path $path =~ s/\\/\//sg; #User inputs print "What is the 2 letter state abbreviation for the state?   • Query to work out possible destinations on a set of routes using SQL Server 2008

    I'm writing an application that models train routes, which are stored in the database table [TrainStop] as follows: RouteId StationCode StopIndex IsEnabled So a given route consists of several rows with the StopIndex indicating the order. The problem I am trying to solve is to say which stations a user can get to from a given starting station. This would be relatively straightforward BUT it is also possible to disable stops which means that a user cannot get to any destinations after that stop. It is also possible that multiple routes can share stations e.g.: Route 1: A, B, C, D, E Route2: P, Q, B, C, D, R So if a user is at B they can go to C, D, E and R but if station D is disabled they can get to C only. Solving this problem is fairly straightforward within C# but I am wondering whether it can be solved elegantly and efficiently within SQL? I'm struggling to find a way, for each route, to rule out stations past a row that is not enabled.

    Hi there guys! Hope your all enjoying your hollydays. Ive run into a pretty funny problem when trying to insert rows into a really really simple database table. The basic idea is pretty simple. The user selects one/multiple users in a multiselect which are supposed to be added to a group. This piece of code will insert a row into the user_group_relationships table, but the users id always @group = Group.find(params[:group_id]) params[:newMember][:users].each do |uid| # For debugging purposes. puts 'Uid:'+uid @rel = @group.user_group_relationships.build( :user_id => uid.to_i ) @rel.save end The user id always gets inserted as null even though it is clearly there. You can see the uid in this example is 5, so it should work. Uid:5 ... SQL (0.3ms) INSERT INTO "user_group_relationships" ("created_at", "group_id", "updated_at", "user_id") VALUES ('2010-12-27 14:03:24.331303', 2, '2010-12-27 14:03:24.331303', NULL) Any ideas why this fails?

    I've been reading all the questions on here but I still don't get it I have two identical tables of considerable size. I would like to update table packages_sorted with data from packages_sorted_temp without destroying the existing data on packages_sorted Table packages_sorted_temp contains data on only 2 columns db_id and quality_rank Table packages_sorted contains data on all 35 columns but quality_rank is 0 The primary key on each table is db_id and this is what I want to trigger the ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE with.     I have three tables, Customers, Sales and Products. Sales links a CustomerID with a ProductID and has a SalesPrice. select Products.Category, AVG(SalePrice) from Sales inner join Products on Products.ProductID = Sales.ProductID group by Products.Category This lets me see the average price for all sales by category. However, I only want to include customers that have more than 3 sales records or more in the DB. I am not sure the best way, or any way, to go about this. Ideas?

    First of all apologies for the below question. Am from a Testing background for the past 8 years and very novice to Jmeter. I went through the Jmeter site, and ran a sample recording using the jmeter.apache.org site and it went fine. I want to test my knowledge and understanding. So, I did the following way. Created a thread group. Added a config element HTTP Default Requests with server name as mail.google.com. Added a Sampler as HTTP request, set the METHOD to POST and gave the username and password, and i ran the test. When i see the Results Viewer, i could see the login page of gmail, I need to know how to pass my username and password and simulate the clicking of Submit button and getting the next page. Please help, am very new and will really appreciate if it's explained as simple as possible.

    I see various topics on this around stack overflow but none that fit the contect of MS-Access... Given a starting date and an ending date, is there a way through SQL to return records for each given month within the time frame? EG: Between #1/1/2010# and #12/31/2010# results #1/4/2010# #1/11/2010# ..... #12/27/2010# Restrictions MS-Access 2003 :No Case/Loops inside the SQL (IIF statements are good) This is a view only, NO VBA will be used since the data will not be tampered with. Disconnected recordset is my last option. I would prefer to find out theres some way to call your customized functions in the SQL to help return these values... some class stored on a global scope while you iterate through this date range maybe... Is this possible? I see many no's, but if there was a way to pass a value into a function I could find a way to make this work. Sad that I don't have a way to simulate a stored procedure without using a d/c recordset, at least that I know of... any experts out there know a way?
