• Page upload data again on page refresh in ASP.NET

  For some reason when the user click on the submit button and he re-fresh the page the same data get's uploaded again to my SQL Server 2005 database. I do not what this to happen...........   Hello, My user model has three relations for the same message model, and is using raw SQL :/ Is there a better more rails way to achieve the same result? Could the foreign key be changed dynamically? e.g User.messages.sent (foreign key = author_id) and User.messages.received (foreign key = recipient ) I have been trying to move some of the logic into scopes in the message model, but the user.id is not available from the message model... • How do I read Unicode characters from an MS Access 2007 database through Java?

  In Java, I have written a program that reads a UTF8 text file. The text file contains a SQL query of the SELECT kind. The program then executes the query on the Microsoft Access 2007 database and writes all fields of the first row to a UTF8 text file. The problem I have is when a row is returned that contains unicode characters, such as "?". These characters show up as "?" in the text file. I know that the text files are read and written correctly, because a dummy UTF8 character ("?") is read from the text file containing the SQL query and written to the text file containing the resulting row. The UTF8 character looks correct when the written text file is opened in Notepad, so the reading and writing of the text files are not part of the problem. • Variable font height via tables in LaTeX

  I've been looking for a more elegant solution to the following typesetting problem. Consider those banners found in print media where the text is aligned like: B I G T E X T small text small text small text m o r e m e d i u m t e x t The font sizes are adjusted so that the height is scaled down for longer lines of text such that each line has equal width. I've written a small script that runs each line separately, compiles, crops the resulting pdf and then \includegraphics each in a table. This gives the desired effect but requires an both an outside script and pdfcrop (which only crops to a white bounding box). Since much of LaTeX is self-aware, I imagine it would be possible to have it recognize the width of a box and scale it appropriately so that any text fits exactly into the desired width. Any thoughts or ideas on how a pure LaTeX implementation might work?

  Hi All, I need some guidance with one of my project requirements, I am developing an application which has to deal with various time zones. Scenario: User 1 is from India, so his time zone would be GMT+05:30 User 2 is from UK, so his time zone would be GMT+01:00 If the User 1 sends a message to User 2, I want to show the Message Sent/Received Time as per the user’s time zone. For example User 1 sends a message at 6:30 Indian time, when User 2 would view the message it would show as 2:00 UK time. Here goes my question, whenever I save the message should I convert it to GMT+00, so all my base times stamps are the same and then later when I display the message, I convert it back to User specific time zone. Would this be complex? Is this the best way of doing this? I like to get views for both saving and displaying, also when I should do the time conversion from optimization point of view. I would need do deal with any/all timezones. I am developing this application with PHP and MySQL and I am aware of timezone conversion method come with both PHP and MySQL. I am just trying to figure out the best way of doing this. Look forward to have all valuable suggestions. Note : As of now I am not much worried with day/light savings. Thanks Ravi

• Exception Handling in ASP.NET MVC and Ajax - [HandleException] filter

  All, I'm learning MVC and using it for a business app (MVC 1.0). I'm really struggling to get my head around exception handling. I've spent a lot of time on the web but not found anything along the lines of what I'm after. We currently use a filter attribute that implements IExceptionFilter. We decorate a base controller class with this so all server side exceptions are nicely routed to an exception page that displays the error and performs logging. I've started to use AJAX calls that return JSON data but when the server side implementation throws an error, the filter is fired but the page does not redirect to the Error page - it just stays on the page that called the AJAX method. Is there any way to force the redirect on the server (e.g. a ASP.NET Server.Transfer or redirect?) I've read that I must return a JSON object (wrapping the .NET Exception) and then redirect on the client, but then I can't guarantee the client will redirect... but then (although I'm probably doing something wrong) the server attempts to redirect but then gets an unauthorised exception (the base controller is secured but the Exception controller is not as it does not inherit from this) Has anybody please got a simple example (.NET and jQuery code). • How can I avoid properties being reset at design-time in tightly bound user controls?

Then, I have my MainForm, which has UserControl 'B' on it. Each time I do a build or run, the Text property of UserControl 'A' is reset to its default value. I suppose this is because since I am doing a rebuild, it rebuilds both UserControl 'A' and 'B', thus causing the problem. How can I go about a better approach to design pattern to avoid this type of behavior when working with tightly bound controls and forms in a application?

• jQuery inconsistent .remove by class on element with multiple classes

  I've got a page where messages and associated elements (responses, forwards, etc) all share a class based on the database id of the parent. For example this is a message this is another message this is a comment this is another comment tim posted a new message sara forwarded a message to john at times I need to remove all elements with the same id, so I originally had jQuery('div#'+id).remove(); but that would sometimes not remove all the ids because ids are supposed to be unique. So I added the id as a class. now I use jQuery('div.'+id).remove(); but this seems to be about 80% effective, and sometimes the divs aren't being removed. I'm not sure if the issue is because the div has more than one class, but I need the classes because that is how I refer to the elements when somebody clicks. For instance, jQuery('div.message').click(function(){ get the id, send it to the server and get the message }); is there something wrong I'm doing here? or is there a better way to do this?

• design time usercontrols - I can't see anything!

  newbie question, please forgive... I'm developing a Wpf UserControl that will eventually be bound to a business object. The usercontrol is little more than a series of laid out TextBlocks, and perhaps (later) an image or two. As I'm laying out the usercontrol, I can put dummy text into all the TextBlocks so I can see what the usercontrol will look like, but as soon as I change the text property to contain the Binding information: <TextBlock Margin="0,12.8,42,0" Name="lblLastName" FontSize="8" Height="19" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay, Path=LastName}"/> Then I can no longer see the textbox, or any "placeholder" text. This makes it very difficult to adjust the location and sizes of all the controls on the UserControl. In WinFormas programming, you could set binding information independently of the Text property, so you could at least see the Placeholder text during design time development. It's going to be pretty hard to visually arrange a bunch of invisible TextBlocks! What's the standard solution for this?

• Zend_Validate_Abstract custom validator not displaying correct error messages.

  I have two text fields in a form that I need to make sure neither have empty values nor contain the same string. The custom validator that I wrote extends Zend_Validate_Abstract and works correctly in that it passes back the correct error messages. In this case either: isEmpty or isMatch. However, the documentation says to use addErrorMessages to define the correct error messages to be displayed. in this case, i have attached ->addErrorMessages(array("isEmpty"=>"foo", "isMatch"=>"bar")); to the form field. According to everything I've read, if I return "isEmpty" from isValid(), my error message should read "foo" and if i return "isMatch" then it should read "bar". This is not the case I'm running into though. If I return false from is valid, no matter what i set $this-_error() to be, my error message displays "foo", or whatever I have at index[0] of the error messages array. If I don't define errorMessages, then I just get the error code I passed back for the display and I get the proper one, depending on what I passed back. How do I catch the error code and display the correct error message in my form? The fix I have implemented, until I figure it out properly, is to pass back the full message as the errorcode from the custom validator. This will work in this instance, but the error message is specific to this page and doesn't really allow for re-use of code. Things I have already tried: I have already tried validator chaining so that my custom validator only checks for matches: ->setRequired("true") ->addValidator("NotEmpty") ->addErrorMessage("URL May Not Be Empty") ->addValidator([*customValidator]*) ->addErrorMessage("X and Y urls may not be the same") But again, if either throws an error, the last error message to be set displays, regardless of what the error truly is. I'm not entirely sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?

• Shift+Tab not working in TreeView control

  I cannot get backwards navigation using Shift+Tab to work in a TreeView that contains TextBoxs, forward navigation using Tab works fine and jump from TextBox to TextBox inside the TreeView. Anytime Shift+Tab is used when one of the TextBoxes inside the TreeView, then the focus is move to the previous control outside the TreeView, instead of the previous control inside the TreeView. Also its only Shift+Tab navigation that are not working correctly, Ctrl+Shift+Tab work as expected and in the correct order. Any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong?   Hi all, I was testing Zend Gdata 1.10.1 in my localhost. I downloaded Zend Gdate from this link: http://framework.zend.com/download/webservices Inside the Zend Gdata zip file, there was a folder called demos. I extracted it and used the YouTudeVideoApp to upload a sample video to Youtube. But every time after I logged into Youtube, before it redirected me to my localhost, I received a warning message like this warning message: localhost: This website is registered with Google to make authorization requests, but has not been configured to send requests securely. We recommend that you continue the process only if you trust the following destination: localhost:8080/youtube/operations.php So I googled on how to resolve the problem of getting this warning message when I saw some people suggesed changing the value of $secure to True in operation.php. • Can you use back references in the pattern part of a regular expression?

  I there a way to back reference in the regular expression pattern? Example input string: Here is "quoted text" some quoted text. Say I want to pull out the quoted text, I could create the following expression: "([^"]+)" This regular expression would match quoted text. Say I want it to also support single quotes, I could change the expression to: ["']([^"']+)["'] But what if the input string has a mixture of quotes say Here is 'quoted text" some quoted text. I would not want the regex to match. Currently the regex in the second example would still match. What I would like to be able to do is if the first quote is a double quote then the closing quote must be a double. And if the start quote is single quote then the closing quote must be single. Can I use a back reference to achieve this?

• Can I perform a search on mail server in Java?

  I am trying to perform a search of my gmail using Java. Of course I can cache all the results, but this becomes a storage concern with large gmail boxes and also would be very slow (I can only imagine how long it would take to search through gigabytes of text...). So my question is, is there a way of searching through mail on the server, a la gmail's search field? Maybe through Microsoft Exchange? Hours of Googling has turned up nothing.

• SaveFileDialog problem (C#) (VS2008)

  Hi all, I am having an issue with SaveFileDialog for some reason. All I want to do is extract data from a text box line by line and write it to a text file, then save that text file to the desktop. The first bit of code works fine (though it doesn't save to the desktop). The second bit of code is what I want to use, but when it creates the text file the text file is empty. What did I do wrong in my second bit of code? • NSTextField and hidden property

  Hi, I have an NSTextField that I hide when the user presses a button. I hide the text field using [textField setHidden:YES]; The problem is that is the user is typing in the text field (i.e. the text field is first responder) and the user presses the return key (which is the key equivalent for the button that hides the text field) the user can keep typing in the text field even though its not visible. How do I correctly remove a text field without actually deallocating it? Thanks.

• fileinfo and mime types I've never heard of

  I'm not a stranger to mime types but this is strange. Normally, a text file would have been considered to be of text/plain mime but now, after implementing fileinfo, this type of file is now considered to be "text/x-pascal". I'm a little concerned because I need to be sure that I get the correct mime types set before allowing users to upload with it. Is there a cheat sheet that will give me all of the "common" mimes as they are interpreted by fileinfo? Sinan provided a link that lists all of the more common mimes. If you look at this list, you will see that a .txt file is of text/plain mime but in my case, a plain-jane text file is interpreted as text/pascal.
