  I cannot see this behavior in JBoss 4.2.3. If I try to call addCookie() on HttpServletResponse and my cookie value has accented characters in it (ex. ç) I get this exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Control character in cookie value, consider BASE64 encoding your value Does anyone know what change in JBoss 5.1.0 could be causing these problems?

Debugging with firebug, firecookie, firequery. No cookie for instrument or anything along the lines is found. Onload I'll hit the "<a href="page.html">projects</a>" but not the "$.cookie(name, value, { expires: 365 });" at all.

• Easier way to populate form data and validation data in Code Igniter?

  I'm new to code igniter. I'm following the form validation tutorial found at: http://www.codeignitor.com/user_guide/libraries/validation.html I find I am typing too much in the view to get the form to re-populate. For example, here's what one of my INPUT fields look like: <input type="text" name="email" value="<?=$this->validation->email ? $this->validation->email : $array_db_values['email'] ?>" /> Basically, when the form first loads, it should show a value from the database. If the user alters the value and it fails validation, then the form should post the erroneously submitted value. Does code igniter have a "cleaner" way of rendering this kind of output? Otherwise, I'm going to do something like this in my controller: $array_db_values = getdbresults(); if($_POST['submit']) foreach($_POST as $key=>$val) $array_db_values[$key] = $val; That way, if postback data exists, it will always override database values. Then input fields in my view can simply be: <input type="text" name="email" value="<?=$array_db_values['email'] ?>" /> Is there a better/native CI way to handle this scenario?

  I have a search form where several checkboxes are checked by default. When the form submits, as a GET, the url will only contain the list of checkboxes that were left checked. http://www.example.com/page/?checkbox1=yes&checkbox2=yes It is difficult with this scenario to determine the difference between when a user first arrives at this search page and when they submit the form with all checkboxes unchecked because the querystrings look the same. To combat this problem I have started injecting a hidden field before the checkbox with the same name and a 'no' value. When the checkbox is unchecked the browser will send the hidden field's no value and when the checkbox is set then the browser is overriding the hidden field with the checkbox's 'yes' value. <input type="hidden" name="checkbox1" value="no" /> <input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="yes" /> when the user submits the form with all checkboxes unchecked I get this querystring: http://www.example.com/page/?checkbox1=no&checkbox2=no This seems to work on ff, chrome, ie5.5+ so I'am I safe in using this method or is there a better way to make checkboxes submit like inputs and selects?

  I have Eclipse configured to use an external maven instance. Nonetheless I have an integration test that runs fine from the command line, but fails from within Eclipse. • Getting jQuery to recognise .change() in IE

  I'm using jQuery to hide and show elements when a radio button group is altered/clicked. It works fine in browsers like Firefox, but in IE 6 and 7, the action only occurs when the user then clicks somewhere else on the page. To elaborate, when you load the page, everything looks fine. In Firefox, if you click a radio button, one table row is hidden and the other one is shown immediately. However, in IE 6 and 7, you click the radio button and nothing will happen until you click somewhere on the page. Only then does IE redraw the page, hiding and showing the relevant elements.   I'm using a simple jquery code that grabs html code form a tag and then puts this content into a form input <td class="name_cat" ><span class="name_cat">It&#039;s a &quot;test&quot; </span> (5)</td> jquery gets the content into span.name_catand returns it as It's a "test". So when I print this into an input it becomes <input value="It's a "test"" /> which as you can imagine will only show as It's a , the following double quote will close the value tag. What's the trick here to keep the original string while not showing utf8 code in the input?   UPDATE: I've changed the wording of the question. Previously it was a yes/no question about if a base class could be changed at runtime. I may be working on mission impossible here, but I seem to be getting close. I want to extend a ASP.NET control, and I want my code to be unit testable. Also, I'd like to be able to fake behaviors of a real Label (namely things like ID generation, etc), which a real Label can't do in an nUnit host. Here a working example that makes assertions on something that depends on a real base class and something that doesn't-- in a more realistic unit test, the test would depend on both --i.e. an ID existing and some custom behavior.   I am using a .Jar file containing a .properties file in my CF code, however it seems unable to find the .properties file when run from CF. My CF code is simply: propTest = CreateObject("java","package.class"); testResults = propTest.main2(); Is there a special way to reference the .properties file so CF can access it, or do I need to include the file outside the .jar somewhere?
