  • What causes this error? "CALayer position contains NaN: [240 nan]"

    - by Kevlar
    I've seen this happen whenever i rotate a screen that has a UITableView on it. I've found out that it happens inbetween the willRotate and didRotate method calls in UIViewController My co-workers have seen it in other spots as well, usually around rotation. It hadnt started happening until very recently, and we're stumped as to how we should deal with it (google searches don't turn up the error message in its exact form). Has anyone else encountered this that knows what to do about it?

  • How to load a UIView from a NIB?

    - by Winder
    I have been using UIViewControllers and initWithNibName with much success, basically using them as a convenient way to design the view with Interface Builder. Unfortunately I have built a hierarchy of views before noticing this line in the UIViewController documentation: Note: You should not use view controllers to manage views that fill only a part of their window My question is this: Having a very simple NIB that only has a UIView in addition to the default First Responder and Owning Object, what is the simplest way to load the UIView into my code? I have not been able to get loadNibNamed:owner:options: to work at this point, but suspect the answer will involve it somehow.

  • UItabBarItem highlight state image

    - by Paul Solomon
    I'd like to be able to change the highlighted state image on an UITabBarItem when it is selected? Is it possible to subclass and access this? or do I need to roll my own navigation code? - start edit I didn't articulate what I was looking for earlier. I am looking for the semi-transparent white overlay reference that the device adds to the selected state/image of the UITabBar. See image! http://solomon71.com/images/UITabBarItem.png

  • Strings in Objective-C++

    - by John Smith
    I just switched my code from Objective-C to Objective-C++. Everything goes swimmingly except for two lines. NSString * text1=[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%.2f",ymax] UTF8String]; This line complains that error: cannot convert 'const char*' to 'NSString*' in initialization The second error related to the first is from the line: CGContextShowTextAtPoint(context, 2, 8, text1, strlen(text1)); It complains that error: cannot convert 'NSString*' to 'const char*' for argument '1' to 'size_t strlen(const char*)' Is there something I missed in the differences between ObjC and ObjC++?

  • UINavigationBar height

    - by kpower
    In my app I work with an UINavigationController. I've added it to the window (MainWindow.xib, with IB) and simulated on my main view (in IB: Simulated User Elements / Top Bar / Navigation Bar). Navigation bar is displayed, but its height isn't standard. At least in IB it is bigger than in launched app. What's wrong? And how can I restore height to the initial state (as in IB)? P.S.: I know that I can set it directly from code. But this way looks like a "crutch".

  • MapKit internal calls causing crash

    - by Ronnie Liew
    I have a MKMapView in the view of a UIViewController. The app will crash randomly when the I pop the UIViewController off from the UINavigationController. In the dealloc method of the UIViewController, I have already assigned the MKMapView delegate to nil as below: - (void)dealloc { mapView.delegate = nil; [_mapView release]; _mapView = nil; [super dealloc]; } The crash log are also attached as follows: Crash log #1: Thread 0 Crashed: 0 libobjc.A.dylib 0x000026f6 objc_msgSend + 18 1 MapKit 0x0005676c -[MKUserLocationPositionAnimation animationDidStop:finished:] + 64 2 QuartzCore 0x00015a26 run_animation_callbacks(double, void*) + 282 3 QuartzCore 0x000158dc CA::timer_callback(__CFRunLoopTimer*, void*) + 100 4 CoreFoundation 0x00056bac CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 2112 5 CoreFoundation 0x00056356 CFRunLoopRunInMode + 42 6 GraphicsServices 0x00003b2c GSEventRunModal + 108 7 GraphicsServices 0x00003bd8 GSEventRun + 56 8 UIKit 0x00002768 -[UIApplication _run] + 384 9 UIKit 0x0000146c UIApplicationMain + 688 10 Refill 0x00002aea main (main.m:14) 11 Refill 0x00002a60 start + 44 Crash log#2 Thread 0 Crashed: 0 libobjc.A.dylib 0x000026f4 objc_msgSend + 16 1 MapKit 0x0005a20e -[MKUserLocationViewInternal userLocationViewAccuracyDidUpdate] + 42 2 MapKit 0x0005676c -[MKUserLocationPositionAnimation animationDidStop:finished:] + 64 3 QuartzCore 0x00015a26 run_animation_callbacks(double, void*) + 282 4 QuartzCore 0x000158dc CA::timer_callback(__CFRunLoopTimer*, void*) + 100 5 CoreFoundation 0x00056bac CFRunLoopRunSpecific + 2112 6 CoreFoundation 0x00056356 CFRunLoopRunInMode + 42 7 GraphicsServices 0x00003b2c GSEventRunModal + 108 8 GraphicsServices 0x00003bd8 GSEventRun + 56 9 UIKit 0x00002768 -[UIApplication _run] + 384 10 UIKit 0x0000146c UIApplicationMain + 688 11 Refill 0x00002aea main (main.m:14) 12 Refill 0x00002a60 start + 44 Seems like the MapKit is trying to update the MKMapView on the user location but the delegate has already been deallocated.   • Reload UItabbar view when using selectedIndex

    - by Hetal Vora
    Hi, In my application I have 4 tabs in my tab bar. There is a navigation where if i click on a button on tab bar 2 view, it should take me to tab bar 3 view. I am doing this by using setting the selectedIndex property of tab bar like appDelegate.tabBarController.selectedIndex = 2; However, this doesn't reload the view of tab bar 3. It simply shows the tab bar 3 view that was last accessed (which may be down the navigation hieararchy in tab bar 3). Please help as to how can i reload the root view of tab bar 3. I tried having the delegate method of tabbar as below: - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { [viewController.navigationController popToRootViewControllerAnimated:FALSE]; } but this works only if I click on a tab to go to the view and doesn't work with selectedIndex.Please help.

  • Animating a custom property of CALayer subclass

    - by jemmons
    I have a CALayer subclass, MyLayer, that has a NSInteger property called myInt. I'd really like to animate this property via CABasicAnimation, but it seems CABasicAnimation only works on so-called "animatable" properties (bounds, position, etc). Is there something I can override to make my custom myInt property animatable?

  • Can I center a UIToolbar item?

    - by Ben
    I am putting a label on a UIToolbar (per this tip: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/333441/adding-a-uilabel-to-a-uitoolbar). But the toolbar has a button on the left side, and so flexible spaces throw the label off the center, which is where I'd like it to be. Can I somehow center this toolbar item so that it remains centered in the toolbar? (Already tried balancing the button with a dummy fixed space, no dice.) Thanks!

  • iPad popover textfield - resignFirstResponder doesn't dismiss keyboard

    - by mosdev
    I have two text fields email and password. The following code works fine when the fields are presented on a regular view but when they are on a popover, the resignFirstResponder does not work (becomeFirstResponder works). textFieldsShouldReturn was called for both fields. Any idea if I am missing something? Thanks! - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)theTextField { if (theTextField == email) { [password becomeFirstResponder]; return NO; } [theTextField resignFirstResponder]; return NO; }

  • UISearchBar in a UITableView

    - by petert
    I'm trying to mimic the behaviour of a table view like one in the iPod app for Artists - it's a sectioned table view with a section index on the right and with a search bar at the top, but initially hidden when view shown. I am using sdk 3.1.2 and IB, so simply dragged a UISearchDisplayController in to my NIB - it does wire everything up ready for searching. The problem starts because I'm adding the UISearchBar in to the first section of the UITableView, because if I understand correctly I must do this so I can jump to the search bar by touching the search icon in the section index directly? When the table view appears I see the search bar but it has resized and I now have a white block behind the section index at the top. It does'nt take the color of the UISearchBar's surround which interestingly is different to that shown in Interface Builder. Searching around, I did find a tip to add a small navigation bar and a UISearchBar in a UIView, then add this to the table view cell - this works.. BUT the color of the navigation bar's background is what you'd expect normally (gray), not the different color as noted above?! More interesting, if I click the search bar to start a search, then click Cancel, all is fixed!!! The background along the whole tableview cell when the search bar is, is the same!!?! Thanks for any tips.

Therefore i want to crop UIImage (Only middle part of image i.e. removing/croping bordered part of image).I have the develop code are, - (NSInteger) processImage1: (UIImage*) image { CGFloat width = image.size.width; CGFloat height = image.size.height; struct pixel* pixels = (struct pixel*) calloc(1, image.size.width * image.size.height * sizeof(struct pixel)); if (pixels != nil) { // Create a new bitmap CGContextRef context = CGBitmapContextCreate( (void*) pixels, image.size.width, image.size.height, 8, image.size.width * 4, CGImageGetColorSpace(image.CGImage), kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast ); if (context != NULL) { // Draw the image in the bitmap CGContextDrawImage(context, CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, image.size.width, image.size.height), image.CGImage); NSUInteger numberOfPixels = image.size.width * image.size.height; NSMutableArray *numberOfPixelsArray = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:numberOfPixelsArray] autorelease]; } How i take(croping outside bordered) the middle part of UIImage?????????

  • "Instance variable 'xxx' accessed in class method....why?

    - by Michael Levy
    So please forgive me as I am very new to stackoverflow and to ios programming in general. I am attempting to change the text of a button i have, replacing current text with a date string (dateStringForInput) I am passing in from another class. The button is called myTodayButton and is declared in my .h file for my class inputMilesViewController... @property (strong, nonatomic) IBOutlet UIButton *myTodayButton; Below is the code from my .m. +(void) changeButtonText:(NSString*) dateStringForInput{ NSLog(@"we got to changebuttontext"); [_myTodayButton setTitle:dateStringForInput forState:UIControlStateNormal]; } I am getting the following error "Instance variable "_myTodayButton" accessed in class method. I understand that this is written in a class method rather than an instance method but i cant figure out how to get this change to happen. the button which prompts this call to changeButtonText is in the other class which is creating dateStringForInput. please help! thanks so much! be gentle with me....a bit overwhelmed . :-)

  • UITextField valueDidChange-Event

    - by Infinite
    Is there a way to catch a "valueDidChange"-Event for a Textfield? oO I've got a modalView with an UITextField. When the UITextField is empty, the "Done"-Button in the NavigationBar should be disabled and when there is Text entered, it should become enabled. Right now the only way to accomplish this by using the "textFieldShouldReturn"-Method. This works but is simply horrible for usability. Isn't there a way to check the requirements every time a letter is being entered or removed?

  • Can you force a MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification ?

    - by Jonathan
    Hi, I have several movies that are played and presented using this code. As you can see I also have removed the default movie controls and have added a custom overlay which essentially just stops the video. Here is my problem... When I stop the movie with my custom overlay button, I don't seem to be getting the 'MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification' Note: everything works normal if I let the movie play through and it stop by itself. Is the any way of 'forcing' the PlaybackDidFinish notification? Can I do something like this [self moviePlayBackDidFinish:something]; ? Thank You! - (void) playMovie { NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"movie_frog" ofType:@"m4v"]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:path]; MPMoviePlayerController *mp = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:url]; if(mp) { self.myMoviePlayer = mp; [mp release]; //movie view [self.view addSubview:myMoviePlayer.view]; myMoviePlayer.view.frame = CGRectMake(0.0,0.0,480,320); self.myMoviePlayer.controlStyle = MPMovieControlStyleNone; [self.myMoviePlayer play]; //videoNav _videoNav = [[videoNav alloc] initWithNibName:@"videoNav" bundle:nil]; [self.view addSubview:_videoNav.view]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(moviePlayBackDidFinish:) name:MPMoviePlayerPlaybackDidFinishNotification object:nil]; } }

  • How to use NSMutableDictionary to store and retrieve data

    - by TechFusion
    I have created Window Based application and tab bar controller as root controller. My objective is to store Text Field data values in one tab bar VC and will be accessible and editable by other VC and also retrievable when application start. I am looking to use NSMutableDictionary class in AppDelegate so that I can access stored Data Values with keys. //TestAppDelegate.h extern NSString *kNamekey ; extern NSString *kUserIDkey ; extern NSString *kPasswordkey ; @interface TestAppDelegate :NSObject{ UIWindow *window; IBOutlet UITabBarController *rootController; NSMutableDictionary *outlineData ; } @property(nonatomic,retain)IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property(nonatomic,retain)IBOutlet UITabBarController *rootController; @property(nonatomic,retain) NSMutableDictionary *outlineData ; @end //TestAppDelegate.m import "TestAppDelegate.h" NSString *kNamekey =@"Namekey"; NSString *kUserIDkey =@"UserIDkey"; NSString *kPasswordkey =@"Passwordkey"; @implemetation TestAppDelegate @synthesize outlineData ; -(void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication)application { NSMutableDictionary *tempMutableCopy = [[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:kRestoreLocationKey] mutableCopy]; self.outlineData = tempMutableCopy; [tempMutableCopy release]; if(outlineData == nil){ NSString *NameDefault = NULL; NSString *UserIDdefault= NULL; NSString *Passworddefault= NULL; NSMutableDictionary *appDefaults = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: NameDefault, kNamekey , UserIDdefault, kUserIDkey , Passworddefault, kPasswordkey , nil]; self.outlineData = appDefaults; [appDefaults release]; } [window addSubview:rootController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; NSMutableDictionary *savedLocationDict = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObject:outlineData forKey:kRestoreLocationKey]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] registerDefaults:savedLocationDict]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; } -(void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:outlineData forKey:kRestoreLocationKey]; } @end Here ViewController is ViewController of Navigation Controller which is attached with one tab bar.. I have attached xib file with ViewController //ViewController.h @interface IBOutlet UITextField *Name; IBOutlet UITextField *UserId; IBOutlet UITextField *Password; } @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *Name @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *UserId; @property(retain,nonatomic) IBOutlet UITextField *Password; -(IBAction)Save:(id)sender; @end Here in ViewController.m, I am storing object values with keys. /ViewController.m -(IBAction)Save:(id)sender{ TestAppDelegate appDelegate = (TestAppDelegate)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [appDelegate.outlineData setObject:Name.text forKey:kNamekey ]; [appDelegate.outlineData setObject:UserId.text forKey:kUserIDkey ]; [appDelegate.outlineData setObject:Password.text forKey:kPasswordkey]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] synchronize]; } I am accessing stored object using following method. -(void)loadData { TabBarAppDelegate *appDelegate = (TabBarAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Name = [appDelegate.outlineData objectForKey:kNamekey ]; UserId = [appDelegate.outlineData objectForKey:kUserIDkey ]; Password = [appDelegate.outlineData objectForKey:kPasswordkey]; [Name release]; [UserId release]; [Password release]; } I am getting EXEC_BAD_ACCESS in application. Where I am making mistake ? Thanks,

  • Segmented Control to change views

    - by Goods
    I have created an up/down arrow segmented control button on the right side of the navigation bar in my detail view. In a table based application, how can I use these up/down arrows to move through cells in the parent table? The apple "NavBar" sample code has an example of this but the controls are not functional. The iBird program has this functionality as well and it is very nice. Download the "iBird 15" program for free. Any thoughts? Thanks!
