  • How to extend an 'unloadable' Rails plugin?

    I'm trying to write a plugin that will extend InheritedResources. Specifically I want to rewrite some default helpers. And I'd like it to "just work" once installed, w/o any changes to application code. The functionality is provided in a module which needs to be included in a right place. The question is where? :) The first attempt was to do it in my plugin's init.rb: InheritedResources::Base.send :include, MyModule It works in production, but fails miserably in development since InheritedResource::Base declared as unloadable and so its code is reloaded on each request. So my module is there for the first request, and then its gone. InheritedResource::Base is 'pulled' in again by any controller that uses it: Class SomeController < InheritedResource::Base But no code is 'pulling in' my extension module since it is not referenced anywhere except init.rb which is not re-loaded on each request So right now I'm just including the module manually in every controller that needs it which sucks. I can't even include it once in ApplicationController because InheritedResources inherites from it and so it will override any changes back. update I'm not looking for advice on how to 'monkey patch'. The extension is working in production just great. my problem is how to catch moment exactly after InheritedResources loaded to stick my extension into it :) update2 another attempt at clarification: the sequence of events is a) rails loads plugins. my plugin loads after inherited_resources and patches it. b) a development mode request is served and works c) rails unloads all the 'unloadable' code which includes all application code and also inherited_resources d) another request comes in e) rails loads controller, which inherites from inherited resources f) rails loads inherited resources which inherit from application_controller g) rails loads application_contrller (or may be its already loaded at this stage, not sure) g) request fails as no-one loaded my plugin to patch inherited_resources. plugin init.rb files are not reloaded I need to catch the point in time between g and h

    Hi, Is there any code example teaching how to zoom in and out in a UIImageView by user taps? I know it is possible to do it with UIScrollView and with UIWebView, but these solutions both need a lot of changes in the code, and I'm working on schedule (bad teachers). I wanted basically an example on how to manipulate directly the UIImageView. Thanks a lot!

  • Weird Facebooker Plugin & Pushion Passenger ModRails Production Error

    I have an application (Rails 2.3.5) that I'm deploying to production Linux/Apache server using the latest Phushion Passenger/Apache Module 2.2.11 version. After deploying my original application, it returns a 500 error with no logging to production log. So I created a minimal test rails application, with some active record calls to the database to print out a list of objects to the home controller/my index page. I also cleared out all plugins. That works fine in the production environment. Then I one by one introduced each plugin that I'm using one at a time. Every plugin works fine EXCEPT facebooker. Every time I load the facebooker plugin into my app/vendor/plugins directory (via script git etc) my test application break (500 error - no error logging). Everytime I remove the facebooker plugin my test application works. Has anyone seen this before/ have any solutions? I saw this solution but didn't see it in the facebooker code.

    Does anyone know if there is a way I can dynamically load and unload a TinyMCE plugin after TinyMCE has already been loaded? Specifically, I'm thinking about asking the user whether or not they wish to load the fullpage plugin using perhaps a radio button or something above TinyMCE: <input type="radio" name="fullpage" value="enabled" /> Enable Fullpage Plugin<br /> <input type="radio" name="fullpage" value="disabled" /> Disable Fullpage Plugin<br /> <textarea name="tinymce" id="tinymce">...</textarea> I suppose I could destroy the original instance and load a new config (one for enabled / one for disabled), but it seems as though there should be a more elegant way of loading and unloading plugins.

  • Phonegap bluetooth plugin not working

    First time poster here , so I'm sorry if this question is asked incorrect or if there are any issues. I'm working on a phonegap app for which I need to be able to set up a bluetooth connection between a tablet (android in this case) and a Win CE PC. Currently i'm trying to get the bluetooth part to work on the tablet and i'm using the plug in you can find at https://github.com/tanelih/phonegap-bluetooth-plugin And for the momemt I'm just trying to enable and disable the Bluetooth on the device. In my bluetoothpage.js file i'm using the following method window.bluetooth.prototype.enable(bluetoothTestSucces(),bluetoothTestFail()); The bluetoothTestSucces and bluetoothTestFail functions just show an alert, nothing else. And if i understand the working of phonegap plugins correctly this uses the following code in my bluetooth.js file Bluetooth.prototype.enable = function(onSuccess, onError) { exec(onSuccess, onError, "Bluetooth", "enable", []); } which calls private void enable(JSONArray args, CallbackContext callbackCtx) { try { _bluetooth.enable(); callbackCtx.success(); } catch(Exception e) { this.error(callbackCtx, e.getMessage(), BluetoothError.ERR_UNKNOWN); } } in my BluetoothPlugin.java file. And if the java file returns Succes bluetoothTestSucces() is used and if the java file returns an error bluetoothTestFail() is used. But for some reason it runs both and does not turn on bluetooth on my device. I'm almost certain I've forgotten a link to a file or have linked it wrong somewhere. But I've followed the instructions that were included in the plugin. What property on the entity should I check the value of? and What should I look for the value of this entity to be so I can determine if the plugin execution should continue?     Hello, I have an iPhone app that loads the following URL: http://maps.google.com?q=Apple Stores&ll=37.331689,-122.030731&z=3 As expected, the google maps app loads on the phone, but zooms to the entire US. It does not appear to be respecting the z= parameter, or at least, not allowing a zoom level that shows stores in the area.

    Hi, I need to implement browser plugin which can register it's own protocol (like someprotocol://someurl ) and be able to handle calls to this protocol (like user clicking on 'someprotocol' link calls function inside my plugin). As far as I undesrtand Skype does something simmilar, except I need to handle links within page context and not in separated app. Any advices on how this can be done? Can this be done without installing my own plugin, with help of flash/java?

    Hi, I searched a lot around the web but I couldn't find any specific sollution to this. In CakePHP 1.3, different from 1.2, if you had a controller inside a plugin, and both had the same name, you could access through "<plugin>/<action>", and it would call the 'default' controller. But in 1.3, according to this: http://cakeqs.org/eng/questions/view/setting_up_magic_routes_for_plugins_in_cakephp_1_3 It was removed, and only the 'index' action in the default plugin controller can be accessed this way. I thought about adding extra code in my routes.php file, and loop through all the plugins in my app, making such routes for every action in the controllers named after the plugin, but it doesn't seem like it's the right thing to do... any other suggestions to make this work in 1.3? or at least some very specific code documentation of this particular change? I've already read something in the 1.3.0-RC4 annoucement, but it was not clear enough.. thanks

But if the new value si null, it is just ignored. This works: Incident caseTarget = ((Entity) localContext.PluginExecutionContext.InputParameters["Target"]).ToEntity<Incident>(); caseTarget.ProductSerialNumber = "new value"; After the execution of the plugin, the ProductSerialNumber field has value "new value". This doesn't work: Incident caseTarget = ((Entity) localContext.PluginExecutionContext.InputParameters["Target"]).ToEntity<Incident>(); caseTarget.ProductSerialNumber = null; After the execution of the plugin, the ProductSerialNumber field has still its old value. How can I set the target's field to null?

  • Compiling gstreamer plugin in windows

    Hello all, My question: What is the correct way to compile a gstreamer plugin in windows, so that it will be accepted by gstreamer (actually Songbird on top of gstreamer). My setup: I have downloaded the songbird sources following the steps described here and I have a trunk/dependencies/windows-i686-msvc8 directory within my svn sources with all the gstreamer binaries. I have created a gstreamer empty plugin skeleton following the steps detailed in the GStreamer Plugin Writer's Guide, and compiled it against the gstreamer binaries in the Songbird dependencies folder. The compilation was done with VS2010 RC1 (Visual Studio 2008 yelded the same results), using an empty DLL project with the .h and .c files generated using the GStreamer Plugin Writer's Guide. The DLL was lined with libcpmt.lib, libcmt.lib, ws2_32.lib, gobject-2.0.lib, gthread-2.0.lib, gstreamer-0.10-0.lib, glib-2.0.lib, kernel32.lib, nspr4.lib and ignoring all default libraries. I have compiled the files as both .c and .cpp with the same results. Testing: I have installed the Songbird binaries corresponding to the correct svn version, then installed Songbird Developer Tools addon and used it to create an addon for testing my gstreamer plugin. Songbird will not load the pluggin. I have also tried to load it with gst-launch.exe from the trunk/dependencies/windows-i686-msvc8/[...] directory and that generated runtime error R6034: An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Most resources I found for this problem recommended restarting or reinstalling windows :(.
