• Squid refresh_pattern won't cache "Expires: ..."

  Background I frequent the OpenGL ES documentation site at http://www.khronos.org/opengles/sdk/1.1/docs/man/. Even though the content is completely static, it seems to force a reload on every single page I visit, which is very annoying. I have a squid 3.0 proxy set up (apt-get install squid3 on Ubuntu 10.04), and I added a refresh_pattern to force the pages to cache: refresh_pattern ^http://www.khronos.org/opengles/sdk/1\.1/docs/man/ … 1440 20% 10080 … override-expire ignore-reload ignore-no-cache ignore-private ignore-no-store This is all on one line, of course. While this appears to work for the XHTML documents (e.g., glBindTexture), it fails to cache the linked content, such as the DTD, some .ent files (?) and some XSL files. The delay in fetching these extra files delays rendering of the main document, so my principal annoyance isn't fixed. The only difference I can glean with these ancillary files is that they come with an Expires: header set to the current time, whereas the XHTML document has none. But I would have expected the override-expire option to fix this. I have confirmed that documents have the same base URL. I have also truncated the pattern to varying degrees, with no effect. My questions Why does the override-expire option not seem to work? Is there a simple way to tell squid to unconditionally cache a document, no matter what it finds in the response headers? • Integrating HP Systems Insight Manager into an existing environment

  I'm working with an environment that spans multiple data centers/sites and consists primarily of HP ProLiant servers (G5-G7) running Linux. The mix is 30% RHEL/CentOS, the rest are Gentoo :(. I also have a few dozen virtual machines running back-office and Windows servers on VMWare ESX hosts. I run OpenNMS to pull SNMP data from the various server nodes and networking devices. While OpenNMS works wonderfully for up/down, thresholds and notifications, it's native handling of traps is a little rough and the graphs are not particularly pretty. I use Orca/RRD graphs for performance trending and nice graphs. I'm tasked with inventorying the environment and wanted to come up with a clean way to organize server information. Since my environment is mostly HP, I've been playing with HP Systems Insight Manager as a way to extract server data and to deploy HP health/monitoring packages and firmware. The Gentoo systems eventually have to be converted to CentOS, so getting a quick assessment of what hardware is where would be great. Although I've read through a few hundred pages of HP manuals, I'm having a difficult time understanding how to get HP SIM to do what I want, though. My main problems are: I have about 40 subnets to deal with; 98% connected with private lines to facilities across the globe. I don't want to initiate an HP SIM discovery only to pull back every piece of intermediate networking hardware and equipment from all of the locations. I'd like this to focus on the servers. I have OpenNMS configured to accept traps. I don't want HP SIM to duplicate that effort. It seems like the built-in software deployment tool wants to overwrite the trapsink parameters for the systems it encounters during discovery. I have about 10 administrative username/password combinations in use across this infrastructure. Is there a more efficient way to get HP SIM to do the discovery or break discovery into manageable chunks? In terms of general workflow, do people typically install the HP Management Agents during the initial OS deployment (e.g. kickstart post script) or afterwards from HP SIM? Is HP SIM too thick/fat to be an inventory tool? I can't tell if it's meant to be used standalone or alongside other monitoring products. Since the majority of the systems I'm trying to track are those running Gentoo (in order to plan the move to CentOS), is there any way for HP SIM to extract system model information from them ( like dmidecode)? I have systems here where I may have an SSH key established, but not direct user or login access. Is there a way for me to import an SSH private/public key pair into HP SIM to reach out to the servers that can't accept standard credentials? There are a handful of sites where I have inconsistent access or have a double-NAT situation. I may be able to poke a server, but it may not be able to find its way back to the management system. Is there a workaround for this? The certificate configuration for HP SIM seems complicated. What is the preferred setup for trust between systems? I'd also appreciate any notes or recommendations to using this product. Or if there's a better way to do this, I'd like to know.

• Apache reverse proxy POST 403

  I am trying to get Jira and Stash to talk to each other via a Trusted Application link. The setup, currently, looks like this: Jira - http - Jira Proxy -https- stash proxy -http- stash. Jira and the Jira proxy are on the same machine. The Jira Proxy is showing 403 Forbidden for POST requests from the stash server. It works (or seems to ) for everything else. I contend that since we're seeing 403 forbiddens in the access log for apache, Jira is never seeing the request. Why is apache forbidding posts,and how do I fix it? Note that the IPs for both Stash and the Stash Proxy are in the "trusted host" section. • bind9 DNS Ubuntu names pingible on server, but not on Windows Machines?

  I setup a DNS server today on Ubuntu, following this tutorial. My intent was to setup my network for dns-name resolving on the private LAN within a single zone (nothing fancy I just want name resolution). I've tested the setup on the DNS server machine itself, and I can ping all the machines listed in the configuration file. I've also configured the Windows Machines on my network, and for some reason they are incapable of pinging by names as was possible on the DNS Server itself. I've tried running nslookup on the Windows DNS clients and I receive and error mentioning the address of the DNS server. DNS forwarding works fine, I'm not having any trouble accessing the internet, the problem only lies within accessing names within the private LAN. • Duplicate GET request from multiple IPs - can anyone explain this?

  We've seen a pattern in our webserver access logs which we're having problem explaining. A GET request appears in the access log which is a legitimate, but private, url as part of normal e-commerce website use (by private, we mean there is a unique key in a url form variable generated specifically for that customer session). Then a few seconds later we get hit with an identical request maybe 10-15 times within the space of a second. The duplicate requests are all from different IP addresses. The UserAgent for the duplicates are all the same (but different from the original request). The reverse DNS lookup on the IPs for all the duplicates requests resolve to the same large hosting company. Can anyone think of a scenario what would explain this? In a class, and type $class- it gives me about a zillion options, so not only from the class itself but also from php, all globals ever created, in short: a mess. I only want to have the options from the class itself (or the parent subtype class it extends from), so context or scope sensitive code completion, just like Netbeans for example. How can I do that? • Pushing DNSSEC updates with offline keys

  In a non-professional capacity, I look after the DNS of some 18 domains: mostly personal/vanity domains for immediate family. I outsource the whole shebang to an inexpensive managed hosting provider with a web interface through which I manage the zones; since the provider also offers DNSSEC, I have successfully deployed that too. These domains are so unimportant that an attack targetted against them seems much less likely than a general compromise of my provider's systems, at which point the records of all their customers might be changed to misdirect traffic (perhaps with extremely long TTLs). DNSSEC could protect against such an attack, but only if the zone's private keys are not held by the hosting provider. So, I wonder: how can one keep DNSSEC private keys offline yet still transfer signed zones to an outsourced DNS host? The most obvious answer (to me, at least) is to run one's own shadow/hidden master (from which the provider can slave) and then copy offline-signed zonefiles to the master as required. The problem is that the only machine I (want to*) control is my personal laptop, which usually connects from a typical home ADSL (behind NAT over a dynamically-assigned IP address). Having them slave from that (e.g. with a very long Expiry time on the zone for periods when my laptop is offline/unavailable) would not only require a Dynamic DNS record from which they can slave (if indeed they can slave from a named host rather than a static IP address), but would also involve me running a DNS server on my laptop and opening both it and my home network up to the incoming zone transfer requests: not ideal. I would prefer a much more push-oriented design, whereby my laptop initiates transfer of offline-signed zonefiles/updates to the provider's servers. I looked into whether nsupdate could fit the bill: documentation is a little sketchy, but my testing (with BIND 9.7) suggests it can indeed update DNSSEC zones, but only where the server holds the keys to perform the zone signing; I have not found a way to have it take an update including the relevant RRSIG/NSEC/etc. records and have the server accept them. Is this a supported use-case? If not, I suspect the only solutions which could fit the bill will involve non-DNS-based transfer of the zone updates and would welcome recommendations that are supported by (hopefully inexpensive) hosting providers: SFTP/SCP? rsync? RDBMS replication? Proprietary API? Finally, what would be the practical implications of such a setup? Key rotation is jumping out at me as being an obvious difficulty, especially if my laptop is offline for extended periods. But the zones are extremely stable, so perhaps I could get away with long-lived ZSKs**...? * Whilst I could run a shadow/hidden master on e.g. an outsourced VPS, I dislike the overhead of having to secure / manage / monitor / maintain yet another system; not to mention the additional financial costs of so doing. ** Okay, this would enable a concerted attacker to replay outdated records—but the risk and impact of such are both tolerable in the case of these domains.

  Hi! I am making a flash app that demonstrates potensial traffic injuries when driving at different speeds. I want the user to be able to share this information on facebook. However this demands that i can customize the text that will appear on facebook in some manner. I am making an url that is opened in a blank window (from the flash app itself). I specify the u and t parameters, putting the generated message as the t parameter. But this seems to always be overridden by the pages title. I am aware that I can use meta tags on the html page to specify the thumbnail image, title and description, but some of this content has to be based on calculations inside the flash app. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction? I placed a breakpoint at the start of the onCreate() method but I discovered it didn't even reach there. • Reset scale/width/zoom of Safari on iPhone using JavaScript/onorientationchange

  I am displaying different content depending on how the user is holding his/her phone using the onorientationchange call in the body tag. This works great - I hide one div while making the other visible. The div in portrait mode looks great on first load. I use this to get the right scale/zoom: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;" /> Even if the content in portrait mode run over, the width is correct and the user can scroll down. The display in landscape mode is perfect too. However, if content in landscape mode requires the user the scroll down, then when the user returns to portrait mode, the screen is "zoomed out" so to speak. This happens whether or not the user scrolled down while in landscape mode. I've tried many different things to try to get the scale/zoom/width of the screen right, but no luck. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

I'm not looking for a way to get the forms auto-generated from models (that's nice but not the most important) - is there a way to construct a form that will let you add 'rows' of data like django-admin does?

• NHibernate: Mapping different dynamic components based on a discriminator

  My domain entities each have a set of "fixed" properties and a set of "dynamic" properties which can be added at runtime. I handle this by using NHibernate's dynamic-component functionality. public class Product { public virtual Guid Id { get; } public virtual string Name { get; set;} public virtual IDictionary DynamicComponents { get; } } Now I have the following situation public class Customer { public virtual Guid Id { get; } public virtual string Type { get; set;} public virtual IDictionary DynamicProperties { get; } } Where a CustomerType is something like "Online" or "InPerson". Furthermore an Online customer has dynamic properties "Name" and "IPAddress" and an InPerson Customer has dynamic properties "Name" and "Salesman". Which customer types are available and the extra properties on them are configured in meta-data which is used to generate hbm files on application start. I could figure out some way to knock this together using an intermediate DTO layer, but is there any support in NHibernate for this scenario? The only difficulty seems to be that all the different "types" of customer map to the same Customer class.

For the purposes of this example lets use these models: class Comic(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=20) desc = models.CharField(max_length=100) volume = models.IntegerField() ... <50 other things that make up a Comic> class Meta: abstract = True class InkedComic(Comic): lines = models.IntegerField() class ColoredComic(Comic): colored = models.BooleanField(default=False) In the view lets say we get a reference to an InkedComic id since the tracer, err I mean, inker is done drawing the lines and it's time to add color. Once the view has added all the color we want to save a ColoredComic to the db. Obviously we could do inked = InkedComic.object.get(pk=ink_id) colored = ColoredComic() colored.name = inked.name etc, etc. But really it'd be nice to do: colored = ColoredComic(inked_comic=inked) colored.colored = True colored.save() I tried to do class ColoredComic(Comic): colored = models.BooleanField(default=False) def __init__(self, inked_comic = False, *args, **kwargs): super(ColoredComic, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) if inked_comic: self.__dict__.update(inked_comic.__dict__) self.__dict__.update({'id': None}) # Remove pk field value but it turns out the ColoredComic.objects.get(pk=1) call sticks the pk into the inked_comic keyword, which is obviously not intended. (and actually results in a int does not have a dict exception) My brain is fried at this point, am I missing something obvious, or is there a better way to do this?

• How do I handle the browser's "share page" intent in android?

  I read here ( http://androidlittle.blogspot.com/2009/08/intent-filter-for-share-link.html ) what intent-filter is required to handle the "share link" intent that the android web browser sends. I have placed this inside an block in my AndroidManifest.xml like so: <activity android:name=".ShareLink"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.SEND" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" /> <data android:mimeType="text/plain" /> </intent-filter> <meta-data/> </activity> I cannot for the life of me get this to be triggered though. When I share a link in the android browser, the emulator log shows it's creating a chooser intent, but doesn't give the details of the intent the chooser is acting on. No chooser window pops up, and the intent gets handled by the SMS application. I have also tried kicking off the intent manually: adb shell am start -D -a android.intent.action.SEND -c android.intent.category.DEFAULT -t text/plain -d http://google.com/ but the response I get is: Starting: Intent { act=android.intent.action.SEND cat=[android.intent.category.DEFAULT] dat=http://google.com/ typ=text/plain } Error: Activity not started, unable to resolve Intent { act=android.intent.action.SEND cat=[android.intent.category.DEFAULT] dat=http://google.com/ typ=text/plain flg=0x10000000 } Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? My main (launcher) activity works fine, so I assume there is no issue with installation on the emulator.
