  • Avoid richfaces to send back javascript libraries in the ajax responses

    I'm using JSF 1.2 with Richfaces, and for every ajax request, the server is sending back the response, whichi is good, but it also contains all the links to the javascript files. I want to improve the performance so I just want the <body> to be returned, because all the javascript files are already loaded in the browser when the user logs in (my app is not restful). How can i do that?     Hello! I have two UserControls ("UserControlParentView" and "UserControlChildView") with MVVM pattern implemented in both controls. Parent control is a container for Child control and child control's property should be updated by data binding from Parent control in order to show/hide some check box inside Child control. Parent Control Description UserControlParentViewModel has property: private bool isShowCheckbox = false; public bool IsShowCheckbox { get { return isShowCheckbox; } set { isShowCheckbox = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("IsShowCheckbox"); } } UserControlParentViewModel - how I set DataContext of Parent control: public UserControlParentView() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = new UserControlParentViewModel(); } UserControlParentView contains toggle button (in XAML), bound to UserControlParentViewModel's property IsShowCheckbox <ToggleButton Grid.Column="1" IsChecked="{Binding IsShowCheckbox, Mode=TwoWay}"></ToggleButton> Also Parent control contains instance of child element (somewhere in XAML) <local:UserControlChildView IsCheckBoxVisible="{Binding IsShowCheckbox}" ></local:UserControlChildView> so property in child control should be updated when user togggle/untoggle button. Child control contains Boolean property to be updated from parent control, but nothing happened! Breakpoint never fired!   • Overlay WPF controls

    Hello I've written an 'auto-suggest' textbox user control in WPF. It behaves a little bit like the 'To' list in Hotmail, allowing the user to enter a list of items, offering suggestions when it is able. The main controls are a a text box, a wrap panel and a list box. The text box captures user input. The wrap panel contains the text box and shows previous entries. The list box is used to show suggestions. Most of the time, the list box is hidden. I'm using multiple instances of my control in a stack panel. My problem is that when the list box is shown, it is included in the measurement of the height of the control. This forces the following controls in the stack panel to be shifted down, as these pictures demonstrate: I've tried overriding the measurement of my control so not to include the list box, but this just results in the list box not being visible. What I want to do is make the list box overlay any subsequent controls in the stack panel, like a combo box's drop down would do. However, I really don't know how to do this. Any ideas? Thanks Sandy

Basically, every row has a 'Check Out' button that if clicked should be able to send a post back to the server and update a shopping cart and then change the button text to 'Undo Check Out'.   • Need to override drawrect if your UIView is merely a container?

    According to Apple's docs, "Subclasses need not override -[UIView drawRect:] if the subclass is a container for other views." I have a custom UIView subclass that is indeed merely a container for other views. Yet the contained views aren't getting drawn. Here's the pertinent code that sets up the custom UIView subclass: - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if ((self = [super initWithFrame:frame])) { // Consists of both an "on" light and an "off" light. We flick between the two depending upon our state. self.onLight = [[[LoyaltyCardNumberView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; self.onLight.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; self.onLight.on = YES; [self addSubview:self.onLight]; self.offLight = [[[LoyaltyCardNumberView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; self.offLight.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; self.offLight.on = NO; [self addSubview:self.offLight]; self.on = NO; } return self; } When I run the code that displays this custom UIView, nothing shows up. But when I add a drawRect method... - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { [self.onLight drawRect:rect]; [self.offLight drawRect:rect]; } ...the subviews display. (Clearly, this isn't the right way to be doing this, not only because it's contrary to what the docs say, but because it -always- displays both subviews, completely ignoring some other code in my UIView that sets the hidden property of one of the views, it ignores the z-ordering, etc.) Anyway, the main question: why don't my subviews display when I'm not overriding drawRect:?   • jquery Ui Dialog box opacity / alpha filter broken in IE7/8 when using jquery.effects.fade.js

    Greetings! Goal: transparant ui dialog box in IE7/8 with fade in/out effect upon open/close. Opacity was set in css and works just fine (safari, chrome, ff ie7/8) using native effects blind / explode etc. But when using efects.fade.js on the dialog box the opacity does not work on ie7/8 We want fade in/out because that looks awesome. Anyway here is my code. Any help much appreciated. Maybe something to do with filter or cleartype.   • Mimicking the UltraGridColumnChooser's drag & drop ability

    (Infragistics 2008 Vol. 3, CLR 2.0) Infragistics's UltraGrid comes with a column chooser user control, which is simply a vertical arrangement of columns with checkboxes that toggle a column's hidden state. In addition, it allows you to pick a column and drag it directly to the grid so you don't have to manually position it afterwards. (This is particularly handy when you already have a lot of visible columns and have no clue where the new one ended up.) I'm building my own column chooser based on an UltraTree. Getting the checkboxes to behave the same wasn't an issue, but I haven't found a way to drag a column from the tree to the grid and have it accept it. In my tree, each UltraTreeNode has a Tag with the following struct: Private Structure DraggableGridColumn Public NodeKey As String Public NodeName As String Public ParentKey As String Public Column As UltraGridColumn End Structure I then have an event as follows: Private Sub columnsTree_SelectionDragStart(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles columnsTree.SelectionDragStart If columnsTree.SelectedNodes.Count <> 1 Then Return End If If Not TypeOf columnsTree.SelectedNodes(0).Tag Is DraggableGridColumn Then Return End If Dim column As UltraGridColumn = CType(columnsTree.SelectedNodes(0).Tag, DraggableGridColumn).Column columnsTree.DoDragDrop(column, DragDropEffects.All) End Sub In the DoDragDrop call, neither column (of type UltraGridColumn) nor column.Header (of type ColumnHeader) get accepted by the grid. I assume I'm sending the wrong type, and/or that the grid expects a special struct with some additional information. Unfortunately, I've also failed to catch an event (both on the column chooser side as well as on the grid side) where Infragistics's normal column chooser does this properly; the normal drag & drop events never seem to fire.

  • Forcing UIInterfaceOrientation changes on iPhone

    I'm strugging with getting an iPhone application which requires just about every push or pop in the Nav Controller Stack to change orientation. Basically the first view is portrait, the second landscape the third portrait again (Yes I know this is less than ideal, but that's the design and I've got to implement it). Setting to link against 3.1.2 my reading of the linked articles above seems to indicate that if my portrait view pushes a view with - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return ((interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) ); } Then then that view should appear rotated to landscape. What happens is it appears in its "broken" portrait form, then rotates correctly as the device is turned. If I pop the controller back to my portrait view (which has an appropriate shouldAutoRotate...) then that remains in broken landscape view until the device is returned to portrait orientation. I've also tried removing all the shouldautorotate messages, and instead forcing rotation by transforming the view. This kind of works, and I've figured out that by moving the status bar (which is actually hidden in my application) [UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation = UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight; the keyboard will appear with the correct orientation when desired. The problem with this approach is that the status bar transform is weird and ugly when you don't have a status bar - a shadow looms over the page with each change. So. What am I missing. 1) Am I wrong in thinking that in 3.1.2 (or possibly earlier) shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation should provide the desired orientation simply by pushing controllers ? 2) Is there another way of getting keyboards to appear in the correct orientation. 3) Are the undocumented API calls the way to go (please no!)

    I'm looking for the string "foo=" (without quotes) in text files in a directory tree. It's on a common Linux machine, I have bash shell: grep -ircl "foo=" * In the directories are also many binary files which match "foo=". As these results are not relevant and slow down the search, I want grep to skip searching these files (mostly JPEG and PNG images): how would I do that? I know there are the --exclude=PATTERN and --include=PATTERN options, but what is the pattern format? manpage of grep says: --include=PATTERN Recurse in directories only searching file matching PATTERN. --exclude=PATTERN Recurse in directories skip file matching PATTERN. Searching on grep include, grep include exclude, grep exclude and variants did not find anything relevant If there's a better way of grepping only in certain files, I'm all for it; moving the offending files is not an option, I can't search only certain directories (the directory structure is a big mess, with everything everywhere). Also, I can't install anything, so I have to do with common tools (like grep or the suggested find).     I have a view with a textbox and a search button, eg CustomerTextBox and CustomerSearchButton. The list of customers is too long to display in a dropdown, and there has to be advanced search functions anyway. What is the best practice in MVC to handle this case? When the user clicks on the search button, should it: A. Load another view into a modal popup (eg /customers/search)? How would you do this in MVC, just set popupWindow.location.href = '/customers/search'? How would you return the value to the main view? B. Have the search form in a hidden div that expands when the search button is clicked? How would be done? a partial view maybe? C. Redirect the user to a search page by means of RedirectTo("/customers/search")? How would you return the value to the main class? I've only been doing MVC for 3 days so thanks to those who answer my questions that might have quite obvious answers that I cant see yet. :)

  • In Asp.Net MVC 2 is there a better way to return 401 status codes without getting an auth redirect

    I have a portion of my site that has a lightweight xml/json REST API. Most of my site is behind forms auth but only some of my API actions require authentication. I have a custom AuthorizeAttribute for my API that I use to check for certain permissions and when it fails it results in a 401. All is good, except since I'm using forms auth, Asp.net conveniently converts that into a 302 redirect to my login page. I've seen some previous questions that seem a bit hackish to either return a 403 instead or to put some logic in the global.asax protected void Application_EndRequest() that will essentially convert 302 to 401 where it meets whatever criteria. Previous Question Previous Question 2 What I'm doing now is sort of like one of the questions, but instead of checking the Application_EndRequest() for a 302 I make my authorize attribute return 666 which indicates to me that I need to set this to a 401. Here is my code: protected void Application_EndRequest() { if (Context.Response.StatusCode == MyAuthAttribute.AUTHORIZATION_FAILED_STATUS) { //check for 666 - status code of hidden 401 Context.Response.StatusCode = 401; } } Even though this works, my question is there something in Asp.net MVC 2 that would prevent me from having to do this? Or, in general is there a better way? I would think this would come up a lot for anyone doing REST api's or just people that do ajax requests in their controllers. The last thing you want is to do a request and get the content of a login page instead of json.

For each user they enter, there's a client script coupled with ajax that creates an <input type="hidden" name="data.Editors[0].Id" value="userId" /> for each user entered (enumeration index is therefore not always 0 as written here), so default model binder is able to consume and bind the form without any problems. a text box where users enter the title Since I'm using Asp.net MVC 2 RTM which does model validation instead of input validation I don't know how to avoid validation errors. The thing is I have to use BindAttribute on my controller action. I would have to either provide a white or a black list of properties. It's always a better practice to provide a white list. It's also more future proof. The problem My form works fine, but I get validation errors about user's FullName and Email properties since they are not provided. I also shouldn't feed them to the client (via ajax when user enters user data), because email is personal contact data and is not shared between users. If there was just a single user reference on MyModel I would write [Bind(Include = "Title, Editor.Id")] But I have an enumeration of them. How do I provide Bind white list to work with my model?

    I've a created a simple scrollviewer (pnlDayScroller) and want to have a separate horizontal scrollbar (associated scroller) to do the horizontal scrolling. All works with the below code accept I need to bind the visibility of the associated scroller. I can't simply bind this to the visibility property of the horizontal template part of the scroll viewer as I've set this to be always hidden. The only way I can think to do this is to bind the visibility of the associated scroller to a function such that If associatedScroller.scrollableWidth > 0 then associatedScroller.visibility = visibility.visible else associatedScroller.visibility = visibility.collapsed end if Is this possible to do and if so how do I do it?   • jQuery hiding a div on click outside

    Hi All I would like to build a simple menu for each list element clicked on but hide this div once you click outside it.   • How to hide UIStatusBar and show UINavigationBar at the top when UIView changes to LandscapeOrientat

    I am using two views (portraitView and landscapeView) loaded from xib in a viewcontroller for different InterfaceOrientation each for Portrait and Landscape mode. The view in portrait mode has statusbar and navigationbar and other one has just the navigationbar. The problem is that even i made statusbar hidden programatically the view in Landscape mode has blank space left at the position of statusbar and below is navigationbar which is for sure looking embarrassing. Is it possible to put the navigationbar at the top - replacing the statusbar position. I tried many options like. if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:NO]; self.navigationController.navigationBarHidden = NO; [[self view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 480, 320)]; self.navigationController.wantsFullScreenLayout = YES; self.view = self.landscapeView; } But despite all this efforts it only lefts the same 20x480 pixels blank space and below it navigationbar. But here there is no end to trouble when I switch back to portraitView, the navigation bar hides behind the statusbar mere showing remaining 320x(44-20)px on top. Please help and thanks in advance.

  • UISearchBar in a UITableView

    I'm trying to mimic the behaviour of a table view like one in the iPod app for Artists - it's a sectioned table view with a section index on the right and with a search bar at the top, but initially hidden when view shown. I am using sdk 3.1.2 and IB, so simply dragged a UISearchDisplayController in to my NIB - it does wire everything up ready for searching. The problem starts because I'm adding the UISearchBar in to the first section of the UITableView, because if I understand correctly I must do this so I can jump to the search bar by touching the search icon in the section index directly? When the table view appears I see the search bar but it has resized and I now have a white block behind the section index at the top. It does'nt take the color of the UISearchBar's surround which interestingly is different to that shown in Interface Builder. Searching around, I did find a tip to add a small navigation bar and a UISearchBar in a UIView, then add this to the table view cell - this works.. BUT the color of the navigation bar's background is what you'd expect normally (gray), not the different color as noted above?! More interesting, if I click the search bar to start a search, then click Cancel, all is fixed!!! The background along the whole tableview cell when the search bar is, is the same!!?! Thanks for any tips.

From what I've read online and in the Language Patterns book, I should be able to modify the grammar like this: assignment : IDENT ':=' expr ';' -> ^(':=' IDENT expr) ; expr : factor ('*' factor)* -> ^('*' factor+) ; factor : primary ('+' primary)* -> ^('+' primary+) ; primary : NUM | '(' expr ')' -> ^(expr) ; But it does not work. Although it compiles fine, when I run the parser I get a RewriteEmptyStreamException error. Here's where things get weird. If I define the pseudo tokens ADD and MULT and use them instead of the tree node literals, it works without error. tokens { ADD; MULT; } expr : factor ('*' factor)* -> ^(MULT factor+) ; factor : primary ('+' primary)* -> ^(ADD primary+) ; Alternatively, if I use the node suffix notation, it also appears to work fine: expr : factor ('*'^ factor)* ; factor : primary ('+'^ primary)* ; Is this discrepancy in behavior a bug?

  • How to require fullscreen mode in a jQTouch application?

    I'm using jQTouch to develop a version of a website optimized for safari on the iphone. The jQTouch demo helpfully shows how to show an "install this" message for users not using full screen mode and hide it for those who are. When in fullscreen mode, the body should have the class "fullscreen." So you can hide the "install this" message for people who have already added your app to their home page by adding this css rule to your stylesheet: body.fullscreen #home .info { display: none; } What I'd like to do is require users to use the app in fullscreen mode only. When viewed from the regular browser, they should only see a message asking them to install the app. That message should of course be hidden otherwise. This ought to be really, really easy, so I must just be missing something obvious. I thought one way to do this would be to simply test for the class "fullscreen" on the body: if it's not there, use goTo to get to another div, or hide the other divs, or something like that. Strangely, however, this doesn't work. As a test, I've still got the original "info" message, as in the jQTouch demo, and it doesn't show up when I launch in fullscreen mode. So the body must have the fullscreen class. And yet I can't find any other trace of it: when I put this alert to test things after the document has loaded, I get nothing when launching in fullscreen mode: alert($("body").attr("class")); I also thought I might test for fullscreen mode by checking for the value of the fullScreen boolean. But this doesn't seem to work either. What am I missing? What is the best way to do this?
