• Getting DateTimeOffset value form SQL 2008 to C#

  I have a SQL 2008 table with a field called RecDate of type DateTimeOffset. For a given record the value is '2010-04-01 17:19:23.62 -05:00' In C# I create a DataTable and fill it with the results of "SELECT RecDate FROM MyTable". I need to get the milliseconds, but if I do the following the milliseconds are always 0: DateTimeOffset dto = DateTimeOffset.Parse(dt.Rows[0][0].ToString()); What is the proper way to get the value in the RecDate column into the dto variable? • Help with concept - filters and number of items

  Please check http://www.alibaba.com/catalogs/cid/702/Laptops.html they have nice filter here with number of items for each. Note one detail - they have locations here. Same thing on olx.com - location and number of items for each category. Now imagine I have tables: [products] (Id, Name, CategoryId, LocationId) [Categories] (Id,Name) [Location] (Id, Name) My question how can I do the same, cause count things even with caching looks expensive? And they give results pretty fast... Please advice with possible ways to do that in ASP.NET, C#, MVC, MS SQL, but avoice simple answers like "count and change" Thank you in advance.

  HI there I am hoping for some help with a query I have. I have this query var group = from r in CustomerItem group r by r.StoreItemID into g select new { StoreItemID = g.Key, ItemCount = g.Count(), ItemAmount = Customer.Sum(cr => cr.ItemAmount),RedeemedAmount = Customer.Sum(x => x.RedeemedAmount) }; I am returning my results to a list so I can bind it listbox. I have a property called EntryType which is an int. There are 2 available numbers 1 or 2 Lets say I had 3 items that my query is working with 2 of them had the EntryType = 1 and the 3rd had EntryType2. The first records had a ItemAmount of 55.00 and the 3rd had a ItemAmount of 50.00 How can I group using something simlar to above but minus the ItemAmount of 50.00 from the grouped amount to return 60.00? Any help would be great!!

  Hi. I'm working in a iphone view-based application. The application works this way: First view is a welcome view with buttons for load other views. Second view is a map that shows the location using gps. Third view is a search engine that loads some information to show on the map and on a list (This has two button to load map or table). Fourth view is a table view that shows the results and then loads the detail on another view and load a web site on another view. My problem is with this view, because i don't know how can implement a navigation bar in this view that loads the detail and the web view. Thanks for your help. Byron H.

  I'm writing an application in C# for a smart device running Windows Mobile 6.1. It's pretty basic. Just querying a database and getting results. Nothing too fancy. This program is only going to be deployed internally, but we still want to be secure with our SQL connection info. What's the best way I should go about encrypting/securing my connection string in the program? I've seen examples for .NET programs using AppSettings, but I'm not seeing a Setting stab in my Solution properties. This is my first time developing an application in C#/Visual Studio 2008, so there might be some kind of setting I'm missing. Thanks for the help.

• Performance hit from C++ style casts?

  I am new to C++ style casts and I am worried that using C++ style casts will ruin the performance of my application because I have a real-time-critical deadline in my interrupt-service-routine. I heard that some casts will even throw exceptions! I would like to use the C++ style casts because it would make my code more "robust". However, if there is any performance hit then I will probably not use C++ style casts and will instead spend more time testing the code that uses C-style casts. Has anyone done any rigorous testing/profiling to compare the performance of C++ style casts to C style casts? What were your results? What conclusions did you draw?

• Problem with dependencies in m2eclipse

  Hi, I have a problem with m2eclipse and Nexus. Normally, when you create a new Maven Project in Eclipse, you can select an Archetype like maven-archetype-quickstart from the Nexus Indexer. Unfortunately, the Nexus Indexer doesn't show anything at all. But the worst part about all this is, that the "Add Dependency" menue doesn't work. (For a better understanding: By clicking on the "Dependencies" tab, you can usually click on a button in order to enter a groupId or artifactId. That's the menue what I am talking about. If I enter for example "junit", it shows no search results.) Does anybody know this issue? How could I fix it? Thanks a million in advance for any help.

For my code, what i wish to do is permutation count. it will count from top to bottom 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2,3 output to 111 = 1 112 = 1 113 = 1 121 = 1 122 = 1 123 = 1 133 = 1 211 = 1 212 = 1 213 = 1 333 = 1 and continue till all number is count and also store to the array which can check how many count after all code will check the input number and count how many outcome and show the results with how many outcome and each have how many after permutation count.   I have a ~300.000 row table; which includes technical terms; queried using PHP and MySQL + FULLTEXT indexes. But when I searching a wrong typed term; for example "hyperpext"; naturally giving no results. I need to "compansate" little writing errors and getting nearest record from database. How I can accomplish such feaure? I know (actually, learned today) about Levenshtein distance, Soundex and Metaphone algorithms but currently not having a solid idea to implement this to querying against database. Best regards.   I'm interested in the computational power of neural nets. It is generally accepted that recurrent neural nets are Turing complete. Now I was searching for some papers which proofs this. What I found so far: Turing computability with neural nets, Hava T. Siegelmann and Eduardo D. Sontag, 1991 I think this is only interesting from a theoretical point of view because it needs to have the neuron activity of infinite exactness (to encode the state somehow as a rational number). S. Franklin and M. Garzon, Neural computability This needs an unbounded number of neurons and also doesn't really seem to be that much practical. (Note that another question of mine tries to point out this kind of problem between such theoretical results and the practice.) I'm searching mostly for some neural net which really can execute some code which I can also simulate and test in practice. Of course, in practice, they would have some kind of limited memory. Does anyone know something like this?

  As the title says: What techniques are available for filtering objects when using zodb? The equivalent in SQL terms would be something like filtering results by a date range. Or only returning rows with a particular value set in a column. If I had a series of blog posts and only wanted ones done in the past month, what would I have to do? Is there any way to optimize these kinds of "queries"? My gut tells me iterating over all the objects in a relationship simply to perform a test is less than optimal.

• How to skip interstitial in a django view if a user hits the back button?

  I have an application with an interstitial page to hold the user while an intensive operation runs in the background (takes anywhere from 30 secs to 1 minute). Once the operation is done, the user is redirected to the results page. Once on the result page, typical user behavior is to hit the 'back' button to perform the operation on a different input set. However, the back button takes them to the interstitial, not the original form. The desired behavior is to go back to the original form, skipping the interstitial entirely. I'd like this to be default behavior if the user goes to the interstitial page from anywhere but the original form. I thought I could create this by using the @never_cache function decorator in my view for the interstitial, and logic based on request.META['HTTP_REFERER'], however the page doesn't respect these. The browser's back button still trumps this behavior. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

  I'm using .NET 4 System.Numerics.BigInteger Structure and I'm getting results different from the documentation. In the documentation of BigInteger.ToString() Method It says: The ToString() method supports 50 decimal digits of precision. That is, if the BigInteger value has more than 50 digits, only the 50 most significant digits are preserved in the output string; all other digits are replaced with zeros. I have some code that takes a 60 decimal digits BigInteger and converts it to a string. The 60 significant decimal digits string didn't lose any significant digits: const string vString = "123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890"; Assert.AreEqual(60, vString.Length); BigInteger v = BigInteger.Parse(vString); Assert.AreEqual(60, v.ToString().Length); Assert.AreEqual('9', v.ToString()[58]); Assert.AreEqual('1', v.ToString()[0]); Assert.AreEqual(vString, v.ToString()); All the asserts pass. What exactly does the quoted part of the documentation mean?

  Hi, I have a model Transaction for which I need to display the results of many calculations on many fields for a subset of transactions. I've seen 2 ways to do it, but am not sure which is the best. I'm after the one that will have the least impact in terms of performance when data set grows and number of concurrent users increases. data[:total_before] = Transaction.where(xxx).sum(:amount_before) data[:total_after] = Transaction.where(xxx).sum(:amount_after) ... or transactions = Transaction.where(xxx) data[:total_before]= transactions.inject(0) {|s, e| s + e.amount_before } data[:total_after]= transactions.inject(0) {|s, e| s + e.amount_after } ...   I need to create a script to search through just below a million files of text, code, etc. to find matches and then output all hits on a particular string pattern to a CSV file. So far I made this; $location = 'C:\Work*' $arr = "foo", "bar" #Where "foo" and "bar" are string patterns I want to search for (separately) for($i=0;$i -lt $arr.length; $i++) { Get-ChildItem $location -recurse | select-string -pattern $($arr[$i]) | select-object Path | Export-Csv "C:\Work\Results\$($arr[$i]).txt" } This returns to me a CSV file named "foo.txt" with a list of all files with the word "foo" in it, and a file named "bar.txt" with a list of all files containing the word "bar". Is there any way anyone can think of to optimize this script to make it work faster? Or ideas on how to make an entirely different, but equivalent script that just works faster? All input appreciated!

  I'm a PulseAudio noob, and I'm not sure if I'm even using the correct terminology. I've seen that PulseAudio can perform echo cancellation, but it needs a source and a sink to filter from, and a new source and sink. I can provide my mic and my audio-out as the source and sink, right? Now, here's my situation: I have two video streams, say, rtmp streams, or consider two flv files, say at any given moment, stream X is the input stream that's coming from another computer's webcam+mic and stream Y is the output stream that I'm sending, (and it's coming from my computer's webcam+mic). Question: Back to the first paragraph - here's the thing, I don't want to use my mic and my audio-out, instead, I want to use these two "input" and "output" streams as my source and sink so to speak (of course, I'll use xuggler maybe, to extract just the audio from X and Y). It may be a strange question, and I have my reasons for doing this strange this - I need to experiment and verify the results to see.

  While working on an existing Drupal site I've noticed a strange glitch that causes any PHP operator with in it to act like a ? tag. This is happening in in Drupal pages that I create that have a 'Input Format' of 'PHP code'. For example this line of code foreach($array as $key = $value){ results in a very broken page that prints out $value){ Does any one know what could be causing this? My Dev environment is XAMPP. Drupal version is 6.15. PHP version is 5.2.9.

• Ubuntu 8.04 LTS MySQL port remote access

  Hi! I have tried everything I know, but still no solution to this problem. MySQL works perfectly on localhost, but it seems port 3306 is blocked from the outside... I have commented out "bind-address" in /etc/mysql/my.cnf, and there is no iptables rules that deny this port. (I have even opened the port in iptables just to be sure) Still I can`t connect to the server from a remote connection (telnet or portscan returns negative results). Where is the problem?
