• SQL Server Import table keeping default values

  I am importing a table from one database to another in SQL Server 2008 by right-clicking the target database and choosing Tasks Import Data... When I import the table I get the column names and types and all the data fine, but I lose the primary key, identity specifications and all the default values that were set in the source table. So now I have to set all the default values for each column again manually. Is there any way to get the default values with the import, or even after with a Query? I am VERY new to this and flailing in the dark, so forgive me if this is a really stupid question...

• Using [delphi] MadExcept errorhandling with MS Echange Server 2007

  I currently use madExcept.MailAsSmtpClient to send my bug reports. However a couple of large clients have upgraded to Exchange Server 2007 and we can't get the SMTP support for our app configured (the app runs on individual workstations so the messages aren't all coming from one IP. We can configure an authenticated account in exchange and access it via SMTP from other clients but it rejects madExcept for some reason). So I have two questions 1) has anyone successfully configured that combo ? or 2) is there an example somewhere of how to use the madExcept.UploadViaHTTP option?

  Hello, I am not a SQL Expert. I’m trying to elegantly solve a query problem that others have had to have had. Surprisingly, Google is not returning anything that is helping. Basically, my application has a “search” box. This search field will allow a user to search for customers in the system. I have a table called “Customer” in my SQL Server 2008 database. This table is defined as follows: Customer UserName (nvarchar) FirstName (nvarchar) LastName (nvarchar) As you can imagine, my users will enter queries of varying cases and probably mis-spell the customer’s names regularly. How do I query my customer table and return the 25 results that are closest to their query? I have no idea how to do this ranking and consider the three fields listed in my table. Thank you!

  I'm creating an application that I want to run on either MySQL or SQL Server (not both at the same time) I've created two PHP classes DatabaseMySQL and DatabaseSQLSVR and I'd like my application to know which database class to use based on a constant set up at install. define(DB_TYPE, "mysql"); // or "sqlsrv" I'm trying to think of the best way to handle this. My thought is to do an "if else" wherever I instantiate the database: $db = (DB_TYPE == "mysql") ? new DatabaseMySQL : new DatabaseSQLSVR; I know there has to be a better way of doing this though. Suppose I want to add a third database type later; I'll have to go and redo all my code. Yuk!! Any help would be much appreciated. Thank

  I want to alter a table to add a constraint during upgrade on a SQL Server database. This table is normally indexed on a filegroup called 'MY_INDEX' - but may also be on a database without this filegroup. In this case I want the indexing to be done on the 'PRIMARY' filegroup. TableA and TableB. ***TableA - Columns*** TableA_ID INT VALUE VARCHAR(100) ***TableB - Columns*** TableB_ID INT TableA_ID INT VALUE VARCHAR(100) For every single record in TableA there are always 2 records in TableB. Therefore TableA has a one-to-many relationship with TableB. How could I write a single sql statement to join these tables and return a single row for each row in TableA that includes: a column for the VALUE column in the first related row in table B a column for the VALUE column in the second related row in table B? • "Cleanly" Deploying an ASP.NET Application with LINQ to SQL Server

  In my development environment, my SQL Server is PHILIP\SQLEXPRESS. In testing, it's ANNIE, and the live environment will have a third name yet to be determined. I would have assumed that updating the following statement in web.config would have been enough: <add name="MyConnectionString"providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" connectionString="Data Source=PHILIP\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=MyDtabase;Integrated Security=True" /> When using SqlConnection, SqlCommand, SqlDataReader and friends, that's all it took. Using LINQ, it doesn't seem to work that nicely. I see the servername repeated in my .dbml file as well as in Settings.settings. After changing it in all of those places, I get it to work. However if I'm doing a few deployments per day during testing, I want to avoid this regimen. My question is: is there a programmatic solution for LINQ to SQL that will allow me to specify the connection string once, preferably in web.config, and get everybody else to refer to it?

But once data is inserted , one stored procedure is reading the data from that "xxx table "and inserting/updating into other two tables and updating back the status into the same "xxx" table. Now, client says that multiple deadlocks are occuring on that "xxx" table . please kindly anyone sdvice me the resolution steps to be taken to resolve this deadlock issue and how to identify it step by step............. So I need from a scripting engine: Maximum Java interoperability (i.e. Spring framework) Script reloading and recompiling Easy DB access from scripting language Clear and simple syntax (some DSL capabilities would be nice to have), easy learning curve for non-hardcore developers Performance and stability I had some experience in the similar project with Rhino and it was pretty good. But I want to see if there is something better. Currently I'm looking into Groovy. JRuby and Jython are a bit more complex than I need for this task. Any other suggestion? What to take into consideration?

  I'm having difficulty getting full-text search working in SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services. I have a table loaded with .DOCX files as varbinary(MAX) data that I want to use for a full-text catalog, but it doesn't seem to recognize the .DOCX format. Here are the steps that I've taken... Installed the latest Filter Pack 2.0 Exec sp_fulltext_service 'load_os_resources', 1 Exec sys.sp_help_fulltext_system_components 'all' (NOTE: .DOCX is not shown as a filter) Building the full-text catalog fails to identify any key words I initially thought there might be a conflict between x86 SQL Express and x64 Filter Pack on my Windows 7 machine, but I just tried it with everything x86 in a Windows XP virtual machine and got the same result.

• Why does SQL Server keep throwing exceptions?

  I have my project in .NET that uses a database in SQL Server. I'm using Linq-to-SQL, sometimes when the project throws me an exception (Constraint) in a part of the project this same error keeps showing in other part of the project when I do another thing with the database. Like when I do an insertion and I had before an exception on delete the insertion throws me the delete exception, and it remains this way until I close and open again the project. My major problem is when this happen in my online project, this error in my project causes me problems in the project I'm testing online (I use the same database). I don't know if this exception is on the memory or something but its have been causing me a lot of headaches.

I know it will based on the TABLEC but what is the other one? Is it the result of the first inner join or the TABLEB specified in the left join condition?   In Oracle there is a mechanism to generate sequence numbers e.g.; CREATE SEQUENCE supplier_seq MINVALUE 1 MAXVALUE 999999999999999999999999999 START WITH 1 INCREMENT BY 1 CACHE 20; And then execute the statement supplier_seq.nextval to retrieve the next sequence number. How would you create the same functionality in MS SQL Server ? Edit: I'm not looking for ways to automaticly generate keys for table records. I need to generate a unique value that I can use as an (logical) ID for a process. So I need the exact functionality that Oracle provides.

  Hi everybody, I've a question for you. We have built a software that has a single database for each customer. These databases are managed by SQL Server 2008. Now the problem is that when we build our software we, sometimes, need to change something on the schema (like adding table, modifying existing ones etc) and migrate these updates on all the customers' databases. Now this task is accomplished by hand: we generate update scripts and then, using T-SQL, we update each database. This is ok for a small set of customer, but we are now becoming bigger and bigger and we really don't know how to face it. We found Wizardby and it seems interesting, but quite difficult for us to learn in this exact moment. Do you have any other trick? Thanks a lot, Marco

  I want to write a SQL 2005 script to create a new login that uses Windows authentication. The Windows user is a local account (not a domain one). A local account with the same name exists on many SQL Server machines and I want to run the same script on all of them. It seemed simple enough: CREATE LOGIN [MyUser] FROM WINDOWS However, that doesn't work! SQL returns an error, saying Give the complete name: <domain\username>. Of course, I can do that for one machine and it works, but the same script will not work on other machines.

On the other hand I use pictures instead of texts for password and each picture has a code (4 digit) and a password include 4 picture that produce 16 digit. This query i supposed to insert two different passengers in a database on two different flights. I'm sure both seats aren't taken, but i can't figure out why the trigger is giving me the error. • SQL Server, Generate scripts, unencrypted stored procedures only

  I have a SQL Server database with 3195 stored procedures. Most (approx 90%) of the stored procedures are encrypted (it's a 3rd party app) but there are many that are not encrypted (added by consultants later). I need to get an overview of the unencrypted stored procedures created by consultants and then apply fixes so that they can work with UTC time. I use Generate Scripts and select only stored procedures but that fails. I assume that is because the first stored procedure that it tries to write out is encrypted. Is there a way to write out the approx 300 stored procedures that are not encrypted?
