• Releasing Excel after using Interop

The idea is this: If a User has Excel Open, if he has the file I'm interested in open... get that Excel instance and do whatever I want to do... But I don't to close his File after I'm done... I want him to keep working on it, the problem is that when he closes Excel... The process keeps running... and running... and running after the user closes Excel with the X button... this is how I try to do it This piece is used to know if he has Excel open, and in the For I check for the file name I'm interested in. • Very strange Application.ThreadException behaviour.

  I'm using the Application.ThreadException event to handle and log unexpected exceptions in my winforms application. Now, somewhere in my application, I've got the following code (or rather something equivalent, but this dummy code is enough to reproduce my issue) : try { throw new NullReferenceException("test"); } catch (Exception ex) { throw new Exception("test2", ex); } I'm clearly expecting my Application_ThreadException handler to be passed the "test2" exception, but this is not always the case. Typically, if another thread marshals my code to the UI, my handler receives the "test" exception, exactly as if I hadn't caught "test" at all. Here is a short sample reproducing this behavior. • Can not make the settings from the sidebar gadget get applied

  Hey guys, OK, I am not an expert at Sidebar Gadgets, but I have this project I will have to make for school. Have tried to solve it on my own but I got really stuck. I will have to use the Cirip API (Cirip.ro being a kind of Twitter), and for the use of the API I have to input the username. I do so by means of the Settings, but when closing the settings there is no effect. Here is the code, but it's pretty messy.   Hello, im building a asp.net web site with 2.0 framework. I've been "fighting" with web.config, i've changed it quiet some times. I've created the users for the login and the role to access the "Members" folder. But in my host company, it doesnt work. I have the aspnet database from my computer in that databese "jsilvaqqc.mdf". When i try to log on pops up box requiring autentication. But i've alreadu given that in the log in form. Do i need aspnet "authentication" tag? Why dont i need it in my machine if i access the same database? Thanks for you help.

• Websphere CE issue in Eclipse EE

  I have downloaded the Websphere 2.1 App Server and verified that it works fine. I now wanted to use eclipse EE to manage it by adding the server to the server tab.   I'm trying to get the weighted average of a few numbers. Basically I have: Price - 134.42 Quantity - 15236545 There can be as few as one or two or as many as fifty or sixty pairs of prices and quantities. I need to figure out the weighted average of the price. Basically, the weighted average should give very little weight to pairs like Price - 100000000.00 Quantity - 3 and more to the pair above. The split is being done to allow a single service to be modified and deployed without impacting the entire system. This reduces the need to QA the entire system - just need to QA the interaction with the service being changed. For inter service communication we use a combination of REST, an MQ system bus, and database views. What I don't like about this: REST means we have to marshal data to/from XML DB views couple the systems together which defeats the whole concept of separate services MQ / system bus is added complexity There is inevitably some code duplication between services You have set up n JBoss server configurations, we have to do n number of deployments, n number of set up scripts, etc, etc. Is there a better way to structure an internal application to allow modular development and deployment while allowing the app to run in a single JVM (and achieving the associated benefits)?

Upon reading the name of the class, it will automatically and dynamically (!) generate that class and call its writeout method. If that class is not read from input, it will not be initialized. • Broken console in Maven project using Netbeans

  Hi, I have strange problem with my Neatens+Maven installation. It just ignores my input. It's look like infinitive loop in System.out.println(param);. However this project works fine when it's compiled as "Java Aplication" project. It also works O.K. if I build and run it from cmd. System info: Os: Vista IDE: Netbeans 6.8 Maven: apache-maven-2.2.1 //edit Built program (using mavean from Netbeans) works fine. I just can't test it using Net beans. And I think I forgot to ask the question ;). So of course my first question is: how can I fix this problem? And second is: Is it any workaround for this? For example configuring Netbeans to run external commend line app instead of using built in console.

• ASP.NET MVC : Good Replacement for User Control?

  I found user controls to be incredibly useful when working with ASP.NET webforms. By encapsulating the code required for displaying a control with the markup, creation of reusable components was very straightforward and very, very useful. While MVC provides convenient separation of concerns, this seems to break encapsulation (ie, you can add a control without adding or using its supporting code, leading to runtime errors). Having to modify a controller every time I add a control to a view seems to me to integrate concerns, not separate them. I'd rather break the purist MVC ideology than give up the benefits of reusable, packaged controls. I need to be able to include components similar to webforms user controls throughout a site, but not for the entire site, and not at a level that belongs in a master page. These components should have their own code not just markup (to interact with the business layer), and it would be great if the page controller didn't need to know about the control. Since MVC user controls don't have codebehind, I can't see a good way to do this.
