    I'm working on a software project and I am researching text-to-speech products to use. Does anyone know what are the current state of the art text-to-speech systems? Ideally the speech should be indistinguishable from a native American or English speaker. I'm looking for products with SDK or API that I can easily hook into. Just to clarify and iterate on my question - I'm not looking for things like Microsoft's free text-to-speech synthesis program, I'm looking for a high quality professional product.

  • How to boot linux direct to application on console with no login

    I have a need to start an application on bootup on the linux console and I do not have a need for any type of login or security. I do not need any ALT-F1,F2,etc virtual consoles but I would like to allow SSH access via the network port for debugging, loading, etc. The application is a SDL graphics program running with fbcon as the SDL_VIDEODRIVER if that matters. I'm currently using Fedora 10 and 12 but any distro that supports SDL using the fbcon framebuffer would be acceptable.

  • How to get httrack to work with SSL on mac os x? (libssl.so not found)

    I'm trying to use httrack website copier but the program is running and reporting "no-ssl" (ie: it does not have the capability to copy secure sites). From looking over this thread, it seems that the problem is either when I make & configure the program, or when I run the program, it is not finding the lib-ssl / open-ssl that I have installed. I think it is looking for /var/root/lib/libssl.so.1.0 The user on that forum states that he created a symlink which allowed httrack to find the ssl library in the non-default location. Perhaps that's what I need to do - but where do I create the link from and to? I'm not seeing that I have any libssl.so files installed on my system. Do I need the development package? If so, how do I install that? I used macports to install the current version of openssl that I have. I'm running OS X 10.6.     I'm getting the below error message while trying to browse to a local share on a Windows Server 2003 machine: Windows cannot find ### this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an Association in the folder options control panel The server is on the network, has an assigned IP address, can access the internet and is otherwise functioning normally. I realise this message can occur when opening a document or file which has no application associated with it, but I'm trying to access a share. What's going on here?

    In one column I have a bitstring encoded as a string type. In a different column I wish to have the same bits (potentially starting with a leading 0), but as a binary value type. Ultimately, I want to have it in hex representation (string or hex type, doesn't matter) in a third column. How is this done? Do I have to program something for it or is there a faster way?     when viewing a television program using Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome/SeaMonkey/Safari it constantly pauses unless I have some kind of activity with either the mouse or the keyboard. The browser with the least amount of problems is SeaMonkey, the one with the most is Internet Explorer. Annie idea of what is causing this or how to prevent it?   • Apache HTTPd - rotatelogs not working

    I've edited my conf.d/ssl.conf file and changed the TransferLog directive from: TransferLog logs/ssl_access_log to TransferLog "|/usr/sbin/rotatelogs logs/ssl_access_log.%Y-%m-%d.log 60" (I am using 60 seconds for testing) Since that change and an httpd restart my original ssl_access_log is not updating and a new log was not generated. What am I missing? in my error log, I am receiving this message Could not open log file 'logs/ssl_access_log.2014-05-30.log' (No such file or directory) piped log program '/usr/sbin/rotatelogs logs/ssl_access_log.%Y-%m-%d.log 60' failed unexpectedly

    I have attempted to install and run Sara, but it seems that the software is broken. I could get it to run on 127.0.0.1, but it seems that no network packets ever leave the current computer that it is installed on. It tests for known security holes in a network. It was based on an older software SATAN. Is there another free alternative to this program? I did not see anything listed in this thread.

    If one switches users (i.e. user one switches off, and then another users logs in) and there is sound playing on the first user, that sound will continue to play for the second user. If the second user has admin rights, they can guess what program is causing the sound and then kill it, but that is very clumsy, and far more than what "needs" to be done. When I open the mixer, it just shows that sound is playing. How can I stop it?

    I have IIS7 on my computer. It can display html files. But if I put a PHP program in the corresponding folder and then try to open it with the Chrome browser I do not see the expected page. Instead Chrome "downloads" this file. Is it beacuse IIS7 cannot display the PHP files?

  • Surfing the internet while downloading becomes painful

    When I try to surf the internet while downloading files (http based, torrent etc.), it becomes painful to open web pages since download traffic is mostly allocated for downloads. Is there a program that can manage this process so that when I surf the weight will be given to internet browser, and when the browser is idle, the weight will be on the download side? I'm using Firefox 3.6.2 on Win7, so any good Firefox addons or Windows based freewares are acceptable.

  • Getting Squid to authenticate with kerberos and Windows 2008/2003/7/XP

    This is something I setup recently and was quite a big pain. My environment was getting squid to authenticate a Windows 7 client against a Windows 2008 Server invisibly. NTLM is not really an option, as using it requires a registry change on each client. MS have been recommending Kerberos since Windows 2000, so it's finally time to get with the program. Many, many thanks to Markus Moeller of the Squid mailing lists for helping to get this working.

  • How can access files on shared drive from Windows 2008 server configured with SFTP

    I have installed OpenSSH on my windows 2008 server by following the user guide here . Now I have some files on windows network share with UNC path as \\corp\test\testdata I want map this file system on network share to my windows 2008 server which is configred with SFTP so that I can access these files from my Java Program by doing SFTP to windows 2008 server.Is there anyway I can map the network share to C or other drive in server so that all the files on the share will be available as local files on the server?
