  • Reporting Services 2005 Model using WCF Service for data

    - by Stu
I am trying to use WCF Services as models for SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 reports. I can do this if I design the reports in the designer but cannot do it for a Reporting Model project which I think I need to make reports in the Report Builder. My full requirement is to have a report builder that the users can use building reports based on DTOs supplied from my WCF service. Thanks

  • How can I get a distinct list of elements in a hierarchical query?

    - by RenderIn
I have a database table, with people identified by a name, a job and a city. I have a second table that contains a hierarchical representation of every job in the company in every city. Suppose I have 3 people in the people table: [name(PK),title, city] Jim, Salesman, Houston Jane, Associate Marketer, Chicago Bill, Cashier, New York And I have thousands of job type/location combinations in the job table, a sample of which follow. You can see the hierarchical relationship since parent_title is a foreign key to title: [title,city,pay,parent_title] Salesman, Houston, $50000, CEO Cashier, Houston, $25000 CEO, USA, $1000000 Associate Marketer, Chicago, $75000 Senior Marketer, Chicago, $125000 ..... The problem I'm having is that my Person table is a composite key, so I don't know how to structure the start with part of my query so that it starts with each of the three jobs in the cities I specified. I can execute three separate queries to get what I want, but this doesn't scale well. e.g.: select * from jobs start with city = (select city from people where name = 'Bill') and title = (select title from people where name = 'Bill') connect by prior parent_title = title UNION select * from jobs start with city = (select city from people where name = 'Jim') and title = (select title from people where name = 'Jim') connect by prior parent_title = title UNION select * from jobs start with city = (select city from people where name = 'Jane') and title = (select title from people where name = 'Jane') connect by prior parent_title = title How else can I get a distinct list (or I could wrap it with a distinct if not possible) of all the jobs which are above the three people I specified?

  • javascript return function's data as a file

    - by Dennis
I have a function in javascript called "dumpData" which I call from a button on an html page as **onlick="dumpData(dbControl);"* What it does is return an xml file of the settings (to an alert box right now). I want to return it to the user as a file download. Is there a way to create a button when click will open a file download box and ask the user to save or open it? (sorta of like right-clicking and save target as)... Or can it be sent to a php file and use export();? Not sure how I would send a long string like that to php and have it simple send it back as a file download. Dennis

  • Case insensitive duplicates SQL

    - by hdx
So I have a users table where the user.username has many duplicates like: username and Username and useRnAme john and John and jOhn That was a bug and these three records should have been only one. I'm trying to come up with a SQL query that lists all of these cases ordered by their creation date, so ideally the result should be something like this: username jan01 useRnAme jan02 Username jan03 john feb01 John feb02 jOhn feb03 Any suggestions will be much appreciated

  • What are the reasons to store documents into DBMS when using Alfresco CMS

    - by Julia
Hello guys! I have interview for an internship with company that wants to implement document management system and they are considering on the first place open source solutions, their top choice being Alfresco, but decision is still not final, part of my work there would be to investigate is Alfresco the best solution. What I have seen from project description, is that they would implement Alfresco with MySQL database, and not to use DBMS just for document metadata and indexing, but they actually want to store documents inside. By company profile, type of documents would be mostly PDF and .doc, not images. I have researched a bit, and I have read all the topics here related to storing files into the database, not to duplicate a question. So from what I understand, storing BLOBS is generally not recomendable, and by the profile of the company and their legal obligations with archiving, I see they will have to store larger amount of docs. I would like to be ready as much as I can for the interview and that is why I would like your opinion on these questions: What will be your reasons for deciding to store documents into the DBMS, (especially having in mind that you are installing Alfresco, which stores files in the FS)??? Do you have any experiences with storing documents into the MySQL database specifically??? All the help is very much appreciated, I am really excited about interview and really want this internship, so this is one of things i really want to understand before!! Thank you!!!!

  • Cloud computing?

    - by Shawn H
I'm an analyst and intermediate programmer working for a consulting company. Sometimes we are doing some intensive computing in Excel which can be frustrating because we have slow computers. My company does not have enough money to buy everyone new computers right now. Is there a cloud computing service that allows me to login to a high performance virtual computer from remote desktop? We are not that technical so preferrably the computer is running Windows and I can run Excel and other applications from this computer. Thanks

  • Creating a dataframe in pandas by multiplying two series together

    - by Aoife
Say I have two series in pandas, series A and series B. How do I create a dataframe in which all of those values are multiplied together, i.e. with series A down the left hand side and series B along the top. Basically the same concept as this, where series A would be the yellow on the left and series B the yellow along the top, and all the values in between would be filled in by multiplication: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/computer/multiplication-tables/times-table-12x12.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/computer/multiplication-tables.htm&h=533&w=720&sz=58&tbnid=9B8R_kpUloA4NM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=122&zoom=1&usg=__meqZT9kIAMJ5b8BenRzF0l-CUqY=&docid=j9BT8tUCNtg--M&sa=X&ei=bkBpUpOWOI2p0AWYnIHwBQ&ved=0CE0Q9QEwBg Thanks!

  • NSPredicate acting strange in NSFetchedResultsController

    - by Scott Langendyk
I feel as if this should be very simple, but it's behaving strangely. I have 3 entities, with a relationship as such Entity A <-- Entity B <<-- Entity C I have an NSFetchedResults controller and I'm trying to filter the results of Entity A using the following predicate. [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"NONE entityB.entityC == %@", self.entityC]; When I try and run the app, the output shows no results. I can alter the predicate slightly to: [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"ANY entityB.entityC == %@", self.entityC]; And it shows me only the results that I want it to filter out. Why is this happening?

  • Pipe data from InputStream to OutputStream in Java

    - by Wangnick
Dear all, I'd like to send a file contained in a ZIP archive unzipped to an external program for further decoding and to read the result back into Java. ZipInputStream zis = new ZipInputStream(new FileInputStream(ZIPPATH)); Process decoder = new ProcessBuilder(DECODER).start(); ??? BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader( decoder.getInputStream(),"us-ascii")); for (String line = br.readLine(); line!=null; line = br.readLine()) { ... } What do I need to put into ??? to pipe the zis content to the decoder.getOutputStream()? I guess a dedicated thread is needed, as the decoder process might block when its output is not consumed.

  • Is there a PHP library that performs MySQL Data Validation and Sanitization According to Column Type

    - by JW
Do you know of any open source library or framework that can perform some basic validation and escaping functionality for a MySQL Db. i envisage something along the lines of: //give it something to perform the quote() quoteInto() methods $lib->setSanitizor($MyZend_DBAdaptor); //tell it structure of the table - colnames/coltypes/ etc $lib->setTableDescription($tableDescArray); //use it to validate and escape according to coltype foreach ($prospectiveData as $colName => $rawValue) if ( $lib->isValid($colName, $rawValue)) { //add it to the set clause $setValuesArray[$lib->escapeIdentifier($colName);] = $lib->getEscapedValue($colName,$rawValue); } else { throw new Exception($colName->getErrorMessage()); } etc... I have looked into - Zend_Db_Table (which knows about a table's description), and - Zend_Db_Adaptor (which knows how to escape/sanitize values depending on TYPE) but they do not automatically do any clever stuff during updates/inserts Anyone know of a good PHP library to preform this kind of validation that I could use rather than writing my own? i envisage alot of this kind of stuff: ... elseif (eregi('^INT|^INTEGER',$dataset_element_arr[col_type])) { $datatype='int'; if (eregi('unsigned',$dataset_element_arr[col_type])) { $int_max_val=4294967296; $int_min_val=0; } else { $int_max_val=2147483647; $int_min_val=-2147483648; } } (p.s I know eregi is deprecated - its just an example of laborious code)

I have this problem where after a field (say Field3 in table MyTable) is updated on the database, MyTable.Field3 (in C#) is still returning the old value. I suspect there is some caching...? How do I force it to: Read the value from the database? OR Update the value in the MyTable class? Or is there anything I miss? Thank you in advance.

  • How to use DAOs with hibernate/jpa?

    - by Ari
Assuming the DAO structure and component interaction described below, how should DAOs be used with persistence layers like hibernate and toplink? What methods should/shouldn't they contain? Would it be bad practice to move the code from the DAO directly to the service? For example, let's say that for every model we have a DAO (that may or may not implement a base interface) that looks something like the following: public class BasicDao<T> { public List<T> list() { ... } public <T> retrieve() { ... } public void save() { ... } public void delete() { ... } } Component interaction pattern is -- service DAO model

  • Finding values from a table that are *not* in a grouping of another table and what group that value

    - by Bkins
I hope I am not missing something very simple here. I have done a Google search(es) and searched through stackoverflow. Here is the situation: For simplicity's sake let's say I have a table called "PeoplesDocs", in a SQL Server 2008 DB, that holds a bunch of people and all the documents that they own. So one person can have several documents. I also have a table called "RequiredDocs" that simply holds all the documents that a person should have. Here is sort of what it looks like: PeoplesDocs: PersonID DocID -------- ----- 1 A 1 B 1 C 1 D 2 C 2 D 3 A 3 B 3 C RequiredDocs: DocID DocName ----- --------- A DocumentA B DocumentB C DocumentC D DocumentD How do I write a SQL query that returns some variation of: PersonID MissingDocs -------- ----------- 2 DocumentA 2 DocumentB 3 DocumentD I have tried, and most of my searching has pointed to, something like: SELECT DocID FROM DocsRequired WHERE NOT EXIST IN ( SELECT DocID FROM PeoplesDocs) but obviously this will not return anything in this example because everyone has at least one of the documents. Also, if a person does not have any documents then there will be one record in the PeoplesDocs table with the DocID set to NULL. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide, Ben

  • find(:all) and then add data from another table to the object

    - by Koning Baard XIV
    I have two tables: create_table "friendships", :force => true do |t| t.integer "user1_id" t.integer "user2_id" t.boolean "hasaccepted" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" end and create_table "users", :force => true do |t| t.string "email" t.string "password" t.string "phone" t.boolean "gender" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" t.string "firstname" t.string "lastname" t.date "birthday" end I need to show the user a list of Friendrequests, so I use this method in my controller: def getfriendrequests respond_to do |format| case params[:id] when "to_me" @friendrequests = Friendship.find(:all, :conditions => { :user2_id => session[:user], :hasaccepted => false }) when "from_me" @friendrequests = Friendship.find(:all, :conditions => { :user1_id => session[:user], :hasaccepted => false }) end format.xml { render :xml => @friendrequests } format.json { render :json => @friendrequests } end end I do nearly everything using AJAX, so to fetch the First and Last name of the user with UID user2_id (the to_me param comes later, don't worry right now), I need a for loop which make multiple AJAX calls. This sucks and costs much bandwidth. So I'd rather like that getfriendrequests also returns the First and Last name of the corresponding users, so, e.g. the JSON response would not be: [ { "friendship": { "created_at": "2010-02-19T13:51:31Z", "user1_id": 2, "updated_at": "2010-02-19T13:51:31Z", "hasaccepted": false, "id": 11, "user2_id": 3 } }, { "friendship": { "created_at": "2010-02-19T16:31:23Z", "user1_id": 2, "updated_at": "2010-02-19T16:31:23Z", "hasaccepted": false, "id": 12, "user2_id": 4 } } ] but rather: [ { "friendship": { "created_at": "2010-02-19T13:51:31Z", "user1_id": 2, "updated_at": "2010-02-19T13:51:31Z", "hasaccepted": false, "id": 11, "user2_id": 3, "firstname": "Jon", "lastname": "Skeet" } }, { "friendship": { "created_at": "2010-02-19T16:31:23Z", "user1_id": 2, "updated_at": "2010-02-19T16:31:23Z", "hasaccepted": false, "id": 12, "user2_id": 4, "firstname": "Mark", "lastname": "Gravell" } } ] I thought of a for loop in the getfriendrequests method, but I don't know how to implement this, and maybe there is an easier way. It must also work for XML. Can anyone help me? Thanks

  • Access data returned from server

    - by Vinodh Ramasubramanian
I am looking to access the actual value returned from the server.getRowData returns the value after unformat applied to the value. This results in loss of information. For instance, if a double value is rounded to two decimal places and if I want to populate the form for edit with the original value returned from the server with 6 decimals, how can I get the value returned. for eg: Value returned from server : 12.345678 formatter option for column : formatter: 'number', formatoptions: {thousandsSeparator: ",", decimalPlaces: 2} Value displayed in grid : 12.35 How do I retrieve the value 12.345678 returned from the server. getRowData returns 12.35

  • FluentMigrator tutorials

Are there any tutorials for FluentMigrator? Some "Getting Started..." tutorial would be just awesome. All I was able to find was FluentMigrator.Tests (unit tests), inside FluentMigrator source, which are not as helpful as "Getting Started..." would be.
