  • Bootstrap inline button dropdown within <p> jumbotron

    - by C.B.
Currently I have a jumbotron setup with some paragraph text, and I would like to stick a button dropdown inline with the text. Dropdown button <span class="btn-group"> <button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown"> Button... <span class="caret"></span> </button> <ul class="dropdown-menu" role="menu"> <li><a href="#">Opt 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Opt 2</a></li> </ul> </span> Jumbotron <div class="jumbotron"> <h1>Hello!</h1> <p>Welcome</p> <p>Another paragraph <!-- dropdown is here --> </p> </div> <!-- jumbotron --> If the dropdown is within the <p> tag, it does not "dropdown" (but renders). If it is outside of the <p> tag it functions fine, but I would like it to be inline with the text and need the text to be in the <p> tag to get the style. Any ideas? Things to note -- If I replace the <span> tags with <div> tags, it will work fine within the <p> tags, but won't be inline.

Negative margin works a treat in FF but no joy in IE? <p>a multiline title here<p><p style="margin: -7px 0px 10px 0px;">-----------------------------------------------------------------------------</p>

  • How to code verticle button on webpage

    - by sam bell
Can someone explain how to code the feedback button seen on foursquare.com? It's a vertical button on the side of the webpage and it opens a new window and dims out the background. I've seen this on some other sites as well. Thanks in advance.

  • How to align checkboxes and their labels consistently cross-browsers

    - by One Crayon
This is one of the minor CSS problems that plagues me constantly. How do folks around StackOverflow vertically align checkboxes and their labels consistently cross-browser? Whenever I align them right in Safari (usually using vertical-align: baseline on the input), they're completely off in Firefox and IE. Fix it in Firefox, and Safari and IE are inevitably messed up. I waste time on this every time I code a form. Here's the standard code that I work with: <form> <div> <label><input type="checkbox" /> Label text</label> </div> </form> I usually use Eric Meyer's reset, so form elements are relatively clean of overrides. Looking forward to any tips or tricks that you have to offer!

  • How does one validate an entire site?

    - by American Yak
I realize there's the W3C validator, which works great for one page. There's also the perl install they provide, but it seems to not work on a Mac or it's buggy. Given that 1) I have an entire set of local files How do I a) Validate the entire set b) do it behind a firewall c) do it simply without installing anything on my computer? (i.e., is there a web service?) Or is this just futile?

  • Why the input and the select do not get the same width?

    - by Bytecode Ninja
    I have a table with two rows. The first row contains an input and the second row contains a select. Even though I have set their widths to be 100%, the select box is a few pixels smaller than the input. Any ideas why is this so and how can I set their widths to be equal to each other and as big as possible (e.g. %100) in a way that works across all (A-grade) browsers? <table width="100%" style="margin-top: 5px;"> <tr> <td width="35"><label for="desc">Description</label></td> <td> <input type="text" style="width: 100%;" name="desc" id="desc" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="35"><label for="group">Group</label></td> <td> <select id="group" name="group" style="width: 100%; line-height: 17px;"> <option value="val">name</option> </select> </td> </tr> </table>

  • Browser, upload large file

    - by Mike
I'm looking for a way to allow a user to upload a large file (~1gb) to my unix server using a web page and browser. There are a lot of examples that illustrate how to do this with a traditional post request, however this doesn't seem like a good idea when the file is this large. I'm looking for recommendations on the best approach. Bonus points if the method includes a way of providing progress information to the user. For now security is not a major concern, as most users who will be using the service can be trusted. We can also assume that the connection between client and host will not be interrupted (or if it is they have to start over).
