  I had a List<myClass> myList for storing a list of items. When I had to clip this (discard any amount of items above some threshold) I used: myList.RemoveRange(threshold, myList.Count - threshold); where threshold is the max amount of things the list can contain Now I've upgraded the datatype to a Dictionary<key, myClass> myDictionary How can I basically do the same: Discard all entries above some threshold. (It doesn't matter which ones are discarded) I guess I could foreach through the keys collection and manually delete all keys/value pairs. But I was hoping there was a more elegant solution.

My only problem is I want the new record at the TOP of the list, not the bottom. Is there an elegant and easy way to do this, or am I going to have to do the new element separately, or loop through the list manually?

I have, for example, the following list, each item separated by comma: monkeys, dogs, cats pineapple, banana, orange yellow, red, blue, green silver, gold, platinum delphi, java, c++, visual basic I want to sort each line alphabetically, WITHOUT changing line order. My desired result would be: cats, dogs, monkeys banana, orange, pineapple blue, green, red, yellow gold, platinum, silver c++, delphi, java, visual basic My target list has got 3000+ lines, so it should be an automated process.   I have a TableViewController which display a list of NewsItem objects: @interface NewsItem : NSObject { NSString *feedID; NSString *title; NSDate *published; } I'm trying to implement a Table View Controller (multiple sections) that can display the list in two ways: One divide News Items into sections which based on Published Date The other would be based on FeedID (News source). And I don't know how to structure the data source so that the code is easy to maintain. I tried to put the list of News Items into a 2 dimension Array in this case is a NSMutableArray of NSArray objects. However I got some objc_exception_throw and I don't think this is flexible enough. Could you guys give me some ideas?

  This might be a dupe. I did not find enough information on this. I was discussing memory allocation for collections in .Net. Where is the memory for elements allocated in a collection? List<int> myList = new List<int>(); The variable myList is allocated on stack and it references the List object created on heap. The question is when int elements are added to the myList, where would they be created ? Can anyone point the right direction?

  I have a list of strings (company names, in this case), and a Java program that extracts a list of things that look like company names out of mostly-unstructured text. I need to match each element of extracted text to a string in the list. Caveat: the unstructured text has typos, things like "Blah, Inc." referred to as "Blah," etc. I've tried Levenshtein Edit Distance, but that fails for predictable reasons. Are there known best-practices ways of tackling this problem? Or am I back to manual data-entry?

  I am using jQuery Autocomplete on my jQUeryMobile application. It works perfect. Now I'm trying to use iScroll.js to scroll through the list of looked up items. Here is what I'am doing, http://jsfiddle.net/uXbKY/39/ The problem is, iscroll is applying only for the first item of the suggestion box, where as I'm not able to scroll through entire list.Please help me if I'm missing anything in my code.Please help me to acheive this using iScoll. • Filtering subsets using Linq

  Hi All, Imagine a have a very long enunumeration, too big to reasonably convert to a list. Imagine also that I want to remove duplicates from the list. Lastly imagine that I know that only a small subset of the initial enumeration could possibly contain duplicates. The last point makes the problem practical. Basically I want to filter out the list based on some predicate and only call Distinct() on that subset, but also recombine with the enumeration where the predicate returned false. Can anyone think of a good idiomatic Linq way of doing this? I suppose the question boils down to the following: With Linq how can you perform selective processing on a predicated enumeration and recombine the result stream with the rejected cases from the predicate?

I couldn’t figure out how to bind to a table at all. I have built the inline sql that would do this for me but it would destroy my shared pool (not using binds). So a General question how do I bind to complex/composite types using Nhibernate?

  I'm using wajig to install packages, however when i've changed my shell to zsh it turned out that zsh doesn't list all packages in completion list, for ex. apt-get install octave[TAB] (about 70 completions) but when i try wajig install octave[TAB] or aptitude install octave[TAB] zsh shows only 19 completions other shells i've tested (bash, fish) shows all ~70 completions in all 3 cases. So is there any way to 'fix' this completion in zsh?

  I have a list management appliaction that stores its data in a many-to-many relationship database. I.E. A note can be in any number of lists, and a list can have any number of notes. I also can export this data to and XML file and import it in another instance of my app for sharing lists between users. However, this is based on a legacy system where the list to note relationship was one-to-many (ideal for XML). Now a note that is in multiple lists is esentially split into two identical rows in the DB and all relation between them is lost. Question: How can I represent this many-to-many relationship in a simple, standard file format? (Preferably XML to maintain backwards compatibility)

  I have a database that communicates with webservices with my Model (own thread) and exposes Data Objects. My UI application consists of different Views and ViewModels and Custom Controls. I'm using ServiceProvider (IServiceProvider) to access the Model and route the events to the UI thread. Communication between the ViewModels is handeled by a Messenger. Is this way to go? I was also wondering what is the best way to strucutre the DataObjects At the moment i have the DataObjects that have a hierarchy structure but does not support INotifyProperty though the children list are of type of ObservableCollection. I have no possiblity to implement notifypropertychange on the properties. I was wondering the best way of making them MVVM friendly. Implementing a partial class and adding all the properties or commands that are necessary or wrapping all the DataObjects and keep the Model list and MVVM list in sync. All thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
