• Automatically enable Xcode "Developer Mode" on computer lab workstations

  After reimaging a computer lab workstation, the first time a user tries to build and run an Xcode 4 application, Xcode pops up the "Enable 'Developer Mode' on this Mac?" prompt, requesting an administrator password. How can I automate this process (via a script), so that I don't have to go around to every workstation, create a new Xcode project, build and run it, and enter the admin password each time the workstations are reimaged?

  When you set an application to install from by creating an advertisment, is there a way to force the process to occur quicker? I know that on the client you can initiate the machine policy and the user policy but I dont want to have to touch the client machine. Is there a settings that has a value for wait time etc? Thanks

• What can I use to monitor which IP address w/name resolution is connected to each PID?

  This would be for under Linux particularly. Is there a tool out there, or a script that I could use to monitor IP connections--with name resolution--and, see which process they're connected to? Right now I'm using this: watch -d netstat -peeW --numeric-hosts --inet But that doesn't give me host resolution. I was thinking of writing up a script with sed or something, but that seemed like more work than it needed to be.

• Program to write for you?

  I need a program that can write what you input in it, and "writing" it back on another process, letter by letter, not copying and pasting it back. Basically, I have a insanely huge file that would take me about a month of non-stop keyboard typing and I can't simply control-C to the other program because it doesn't allow pasting text (go figure). I do realize it's quite an unusual question, but I need this to be done by a machine and not myself. Is there any way to be done?

• Retrieving a virtual box vdh that has been deleted from within Virtual box itself

  I had a MS Virtual machine that I imported to virtual box to see how it worked. I decided that in this case MS Virtual machine worked just as good so removed the virtual machine from Virtual Box. In the process I accidently removed/deleted the vhd file that MS Virtual machine uses. Can I get this back from somewhere within virtual box or the recycle bin or do I have to use a undelete utlilty?

  I am trying to get postfix working, and when I test it using mail user I enter the subject, message, ect and get the following error: mail: /usr/sbin/sendmail: No such file or directory Can't send mail: sendmail process failed Why is it talking about sendmail? I deleted that a long time ago and am using postfix. Is it still hanging around somewhere and the mail command thinks it should be using sendmail?

On Win2008, the resmon utility allows this type of drilldown, but none of the Linux utilities I have found do this (iostat, iotop, dstat, nmon). My interest in monitoring IO bottlenecks on database servers. With MSSQL, I have found it an informative diagnostic to know which files / filespaces are getting hit the hardest.

I can't put the definitions into .profile or similar because the users I log in as are often shared with others who use the same systems and I don't have control of this.   Hello, I just found out by using TCPView that one of my svchost.exe had an http connection in "CLOSE_WAIT" to a strange ip address, although no other visible program was running. With the help of Process Explorer I discovered that this svchost was using the WebClient windows service. I'm wondering how I can figure out what program used WebClient to connect to this ip, in order to determine if it's malware.

  I am examining a high-volume Apache prefork site and noticing that many log entries such as: CustomLog '|/foo/bar/cronolog -foo -bar' RewriteLog '|/foo/bar/cronolog -bar -foo' When apache logs the request or the rewrite is cronolog spawned for EACH request or is the pipe opened and written-to for the lifetime duration of the preforked apache process?   I want to interrupt a running resync operation on an ubuntu 10.04 software raid. (This is the regular scheduled compare resync) How to stop it while it is running? Another raid array is "resync pending", I want a complete stop of all resyncing. [Edit: "sudo kill -9 1010" doesn't do anything, 1010 is the PID of the md2_resync process] I would also like to know how I can control the intervals between resyncs and the remainig time till the next one.

  So, when I'm browsing in firefox, some letters look grainy or glowing, does anyone know what might be causing this? It doesn't show on all website, only some. It almost looks like Firefox is trying to render different font colours on top of eachother and blends them in the process somehow.   I'm trying to set up per-user trac instances, using fcgid. The problem is that trac requires rw access to the trac instance, so I need the fcgi process to run under the respective user. I have the suexec, fcgid, and userdir Apache modules installed (on Debian). I put up vhost directive ScriptAliasMatch /~(.*)/trac /home/$1/public_html/trac.fcgi This works insofar as trac.fcgi is run, but unfortunately, under the www-data user. How can I make fcgid launch it under the $1 user?
