• Package <blah> does not exist error - NetBeans 6.8 & Windows 7

  I'm using NetBeans 6.8 on Windows 7. I upgraded from WinXP and NetBeans 6.7. Now my existing java web app project is no longer able to import/find the packages I've developed - I receive a 'Package ,blah. does not exist' and yet the packages do exist, worked fine in NetBeans 6.7 and the project still compiles and runs OK. I've tried changing the Java Platform/JDK from 1.6.0_10 back to JDK 1.5.0_22 but I still receive errors package does not exist. All other 'standard' libraries and packages are able to be imported and used OK ... eg Struts, Hibernate

• TFS no release folder in build folder

  I have a tfs build that works fine on the client, but when executed on the server, no actual binaries get created. When I go to the folder: \[MyServer]\builds[BuildName], I see BuildLog.txt ErrorsWarningsLog.txt Release.txt I expect to see a big \Release folder full of my dlls, but I get nothing. The error log reports no problems up until we ask the build to copy the binaries to our staging server. If I comment those out, I get no errors. CustomizableOutDir is true, DropLocation is set to something sensible BuildDirectoryPath is set to something sensible But no matter what, I just don't get any dlls built. Our local TFS guy is baffled too. Any suggestions?

• iphone: repeating a transformation

  Hi I'm trying to represent a view that rotates on the iphone screen. I have a button and when you press it, the view rotates 180 degrees. My problem is that this only works the first time.   I want to create a proc file under /proc/driver directory. I would like to use a macro like proc_root_driver (or something else provided) rather than use "driver/MODULE_NAME" explicitly. I use create_proc_entry : ... struct proc_dir_entry *simpleproc_fops_entry; simpleproc_fops_entry = create_proc_entry(MODULE_NAME, 0400, NULL /* proc_root_dir */); ... After googling, I found suggestion to use proc_root_driver, but when I use it, error "proc_root_driver undeclared in this function". And also, proc_root_driver is not available in linux/proc_fs.h. I have tried to declare structure like this: struct proc_dir_entry proc_root; struct proc_dir_entry *proc_root_driver = &proc_root; Errors gone, but proc file didn't exist under /proc/driver or /proc Anyone here can help me?   I have a super class like this: class Parent { public: virtual void Function(int param); }; void Parent::Function(int param) { std::cout << param << std::endl; } ..and a sub-class like this: class Child : public Parent { public: void Function(int param); }; void Child::Function(int param) { ;//Do nothing } When I compile the sub-class .cpp file, I get this error warning C4100: 'param' : unreferenced formal parameter As a practise, we used to treat warnings as errors. I know how to display custom error messages on a form i.e. You cannot go any further until the following errors are fixed : login name not known! I want to display a message which will say: your email has been sent! after I send an email. I have been told that I should display this message through the flash. • Implicit declaration when using a function before it is defined in C, why can't the compiler figure this out?

  As the title says, I know what causes this error but I want to know why the compiler gives it in this circumstance. Eg : main.c void test(){ test1(); } void test1(){ ... } Would give an implicit declaration warning as the compiler would reach the call to test1() before it has read its declaration, I can see the obvious problems with this (not knowing return type etc), but why can't the compiler do a simple pass to get all function declarations, then compile the code removing these errors? It just seems so simple to do and I don't believe I've seen similar warnings in other languages. Does anyone know if there is a specific purpose for this warning in this situation that I am overlooking?

• how do i set up a load balanced Rails web server using mongrel, lighttpd and iis on windows 2003

  I understand that this is not the perfect environment for doing this but please stick with me and help if you can... The set up I want to achieve is to have my rails application running on a windows 2003 server, using a pack of mongrels with lighttpd acting as the load balancer and IIS in front of it all passing client requests to lighttpd. first of all i've followed these instructions: deploying to iis on windows And I've managed to get the application to run, BUT if the client clicks on a link button the app bombs out with a 500 server error. If I just run against one of the mongrel servers, the the app behaves ok, so I think its lightpd. Its almost as if the lighttpd gets confused with multiple GET requests (i.e. multiple clicks) and bombs out. Any help on why i'm getting 500 errors would be helpful, thanks.

• High level audio crossfading library for python

  I am looking for a high level audio library that supports crossfading for python (and that works in linux). In fact crossfading a song and saving it is about the only thing I need. I tried pyechonest but I find it really slow. Working with multiple songs at the same time is hard on memory too (I tried to crossfade about 10 songs in one, but I got out of memory errors and my script was using 1.4Gb of memory). So now I'm looking for something else that works with python. I have no idea if there exists anything like that, if not, are there good command line tools for this, I could write a wrapper for the tool.

• Usercontrol access javascript from a Content's Page's Master Page

  Hello all I have a problem. I have a masterpage that all of my Content pages inherit from. Within this masterpage I have a script tag pointing to the javascript file folder "~/Scripts/validation.js" On my content pages I use different usercontrols that require the use of many of the functions within the validation.js file however if I dont put the tag and the javascript functions within a contentholder on the contentpage the usercontrols do not see these functions and I get errors like "OnNameValidation" is not defined. Of course I can copy the javscript code into all of the pages but that's 30+ pages and a maintenance nightmare if I find a bug in one of the javscript functions. So the question (if you haven't already figured out from my long dissertation) is how can I declare the script tag with the path to the validation.js file so that contentpages and their usercontrols etc. can access the functions/code. I was trying to avoid having to set the connection string for all applications that user my code library. The location of the database is different for each project that uses the library. I have code that can determine the correction string, but was wanting run it during compile time. Is this even possible?

• javax.servlet import cannot be resolved after moving web servlet

  I have written a small web servlet to run under Tomcat, using Eclipse Helios. In its old, non-source-controlled location, everything was fine, but now I need to add this to our source control system. Moving the old files out of the way, creating a new workspace, setting up the server connection and copying and importing the existing projects into the new workspace all worked fine once I figured out how to do it, but I can't get the servlet to build. Instead, I get a whole bunch of cannot be resolved to a type errors talking about various servlet class types; HttpServlet, HttpServletRequest, ServletException, etc. Another error that is almost certainly related is The import javax.servlet cannot be resolved. I am obviously missing something very basic, but I'm new to this (and not having the terminology really down pat probably doesn't help me Google for an answer). Any suggestions as to what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated.

• Zero KB SQLite File created by Core Data on application start up

  I'm developing an iPhone application using Core Data. I had everything working and had to make an adjustment to the database schema and change the relationships through the xcdatamodel file. I deleted the my project's sqlite file in Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.1.3//Documents. Build and run the application, it creates the sqlite file, but its empty with a file size of 0 KB. At a minimum the table information should be in there. There are no errors/warning in the console. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

• Getting Started with Fluent NHibernate

  I'm trying to get into using Fluent NHibernate, and I have a couple questions. I'm finding the documentation to be lacking. I understand that Fluent NHibernate / NHibernate allows you to auto-generate a database schema. Do people usually only do this for Test/Dev databases? Or is that OK to do for a production database? If it's ok for production, how do you make sure that you're not blowing away production data every time you run your app? Once the database schema is already created, and you have production data, when new tables/columns/etc. need to be added to the Test and/or Production database, do people allow NHibernate to do this, or should this be done manually? Is there any REALLY GOOD documentation on Fluent NHibernate? (Please don't point me to the wiki because in following along with the "Your first project" code building it myself, I was getting run-time errors because they forget to tell you to add a reference. • Trying to catch integrity error with sqlaclhemey

  I'm having problems with trying to catch a error. I'm using pyramid/sqlalchemy and made a sign up form with email as the primary key. The problem is when a duplicate email is entered it raises a IntegrityError, so I'm trying to catch that error and provide a message but no matter what I do I can't catch it(the error keeps appearing). try: new_user = Users(email, firstname, lastname, password) DBSession.add(new_user) return HTTPFound(location = request.route_url('new')) except IntegrityError: message1 = "Yikes! Your email already exists in our system. Did you forget your password?" I get the same message when I tried except exc.SQLAlchemyError (although I want to catch specific errors and not a blanket catch all). Is there something wrong with my python syntax? or is there something I need to do special in sqlalchemy to catch it?

• MonoDevelop seems to hang (not unresponsive) when building csprojs

  Building a solution from Visual Studio in mono develop seems to have some issues. I'm hoping someone else has experienced this and has some suggestions. The actual dcms process goes pretty quickly, but in between projects it hangs after printing: Building: XXX.YYY.ZZZ (Debug) After a few minutes (been 10 so far on this current run), it jumps to: Performing main compilation... /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/2.10.1/bin/dmcs /noconfig "/... Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings Building: XXX.YYY.ZZZ (Debug) Then hangs again for another few minutes. This is a sln file with 29 csproj projects in it that was originally created in Visual Studio 2010. I'm wondering if there is a better way to set this up - potentially a native MD file format?

• Setting ID to a control inside repeater itemtemplate

  Inside repeater's itemtemplate I have a Panel server control. I need to assign special Id for it, because I need to work with some javascript functions that use this Id. In repeater ItemDataBound event I have this: pnlButtonsPanel.ID = pnlButtonsPanel.ID + DataBinder.Eval(e.Item.DataItem, "ID"); But this solution is not good because after a postback the page is re -rendered and I lose the new ID. (And I don't want to rebind repeater after every postback) I tried to set the ID on aspx page like that: <asp:Panel id='<%# Eval("ID") %>' and some other variations but always get compile errors.

• Making OR/M loosely coupled and abstracted away from other layers.

  Hi all. In an n-tier architecture, the best place to put an object-relational mapping (OR/M) code is in the data access layer. For example, database queries and updates can be delegated to a tool like NHibernate. Yet, I'd like to keep all references to NHibernate within the data access layer and abstract dependencies away from the layers below or above it. That way, I can swap or plug in another OR/M tool (e.g. Entity Framework) or some approach (e.g. plain vanilla stored procedure calls, mock objects) without causing compile-time errors or a major overhaul of the entire application. Testability is an added bonus. Could someone please suggest a wrapper (i.e. an interface or base class) or approach that would keep OR/M loosely coupled and contained in 1 layer? Or point me to resources that would help? Thanks.

  I'm a front end Flex developer peeking over the wall at html. One of the things I have a hard time with is weak typing in Javascript. I know many developers say they prefer it. How do I stop worrying and learn to love the weak typing? Are there best practices for variable naming that help make var types human readable? Another thing I have trouble with is getting by without my trusted compiler errors and warnings. I'm getting along with firebug. Is there anything else I should have in my toolkit?

• Getting Postfix to process the mail queue on Mac OS X

  I'm in the process of getting Sendmail/Postfix setup so that I can send and test my PHP scripts when using the mail() function. I've got to the point that when I run the mail() function in PHP, the script executes without any errors and the mail is sent to my mailq but it then does not get processed and simply times-out with a message of: Operation timed out. • Sharing some info with all DLLs pulled into a process

  Hi all, We've got an Enterprise system which has many processes (EXEs, services, DCOM servers, COM+ apps, ISAPI, MMC snapins) all of which make use of many COM components. We've recently seen failures in some of the customer deployments, but are finding it hard to troubleshoot the cause. In order to track down the problem, we've augmented the entire source with logging statements where errors occur. In order to identify which logs came from what processes, the C++ logging code (compiled into all components) uses the EXE name to name the log. This is good for some cases, but not all - COM+ apps, ISAPI and MMC snapins all have system EXE names and the logs end up interleaved. I saw this post about shared data sections which might help, but what I don't understand is who decides what goes in the shared section. Is there any way I can guarantee that a particular piece of code writes into the shared section before anyone else reads it? Or is there a better solution to this problem?
