• Can't connect my school laptop to my homegroup

  Well I've been trying quite a lot of things, it worked to connect through my other laptop which is not given by my school so there's nothing wrong with the homegroup itself. But I need a way to connect this "domain owned laptop" into my homegroup. It has IPv6 working, all the services are started and I've also deleted idstore.sst without success. EDIT: The error that comes up is "Windows cannot set up homegroup on this computer" Checking through this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee617166(v=ws.10).aspx

• USB Wireless adapter that works with Windows 7 (32 and 64bit)

  Can anybody recommend a USB wireless network adapter, that has Windows 7 drivers for both 32 and 64 bit? It also needs to reconnect to the network when the computer is brought out of sleep. I have three of these from earlier (from Allnet, trendnet and linksys), and just one of them has working drivers for Win7 64bit - but fail to return from sleep in a working state.

  I get this error when installing any network adapter on my computer: The device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) I have tried many different adapters and many different drivers. Any ideas? • Tunneling traffic through a proxy using SSH - what does the proxy server see?

  If I am accessing information (in a browser or via bittorent) through an SSH tunnel, what info will then be possible to obtain on the SSH/proxy server itself? As far as I have understood, the information between the proxy server and my computer is encrypted, but is it not possible for the SSH server admin to obtain info about the traffic? The SSH session requires my credentials, so my guess would be that the server admin would be able to obtain any information about my network usage.

I was wondering if it's possible to have the PC or notebook or any other computer-like device using a USB-USB cable and make the bluray player detects this as an external drive.   Hi, I got a print server on our old printer. I have a problem, because Vista has its own queue. I want to bypass this queue and send everything straight away to printer so the print server deals with queue and not vista. Problem is, when second document is being printed from the same computer after first one. Vista is still waiting for info on finishing the first job even 5 minutes after it was REALLY finished.

I just purchased a Windows 7 64-bit as an ISO download upgrade version which I promptly burned to DVD and attempted to perform an upgrade installation. Here is the error message I am getting: Firstly, where are these "Setup log files" located? • Does informing your destination hardware impact on ebook convertion on Calibre?

  If I connect my Kindle Fire to the computer, Calibre gives me an option to convert to Kindle Fire mobi format. Is this different from just asking to convert to mobi? I don't want to connect my Kindle anymore, I want to send to the cloud, but I'm not willing to lose conversion quality because of lack of ebook reader information. Of course, I couldn't find the convert to Kindle option without it being connected.

  Hi so i was doing some research in the library so i could use some pictures later on my Desktop computer in my room. I have space on my Lab account which i usually SSH into, and i was wondering if URL's can be directly transferred over to a remote machine and saved on the hard disk. • LAN connection loses network access randomly

  Hi, Windows 7 is a great OS but there are some problems which should be solved from Microsoft as fast as possible. On my Computer the LAN connection randomly loses its connection. I don't know why but I think this problem depends on my network driver which is only available for Windows XP (where it always worked perfectly). I can not reproduce this issue. Has anybody here had the same problem?

  My sister still has Win XP. She tried to print a document on her USB printer and now it's stuck in the printing queue. I tried the following: Restart the computer Restart the printer Delete the entry from the printing queue From the printing queue choose Printer\Cancel All Documents Right click the print job and choose Pause The status of the printing job now reads "Deleting - Paused - Printing". Nothing I do seems to get rid of this stuck printing job. What should I do?

  I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) on a Windows Vista SP2 box. Every day in the 4 PM hour MSE updates itself: The green fortress icon in the notification area displays an animated download arrow, and my computer becomes unusably sluggish for five minutes (or more). I'm generally forced to take a coffee break or read a magazine. How can I control the time of day when this update occurs? Sometime after 9 PM would be ideal. Thanks.

• Outlook 2010 says "File is in use by another application or user" while closing

  Outlook opens, gets new emails and everything but when I close it, it gives me the following error and then opens up a Save a File window after I cancel this error message. There's no other computer that may be using Outlook under this User Name because I just set-up a brand new User Name. • Virtual Box for everyday use?

  I was just thinking about how nice virtual machines are...and how even "rebooting" is less painful, because at the very least, you don't have to wait for your physical computer to turn off and on with all the mobo shannanigans at the start... so, what if I ran everything in a virtual machine? Then I wouldn't really need a primary OS, I just need something than can run VirtualBox or what have you. So what's the lightest weight OS I could install, that supports a good virtual machine?

  The reason I want to do this is most of the time I have the computer plugged into a 52" LCD in another room displaying information. Occasionally I need to update the software and to do so I need to see what I am doing so I plug a monitor in locally. Problem is that it automatically adopts the device capabilities of the new monitor and thus changing the settings for the large screen. • Ubuntu on VirtualBox can only show resolution of 800x600 - how to change it?

  My monitor is 1920 x 1200 and the computer is running Windows 7. Using VirtualBox and Ubuntu 10.04, the screen of the Ubuntu can only be 800 x 600 or 640 x 480. Is there a way to change that. I resized the VirtualBox window and Ubuntu still thinks the max is 800 x 600.
