    I have a ASP .NET load balanced application (webservice and website). It runs on SQL server. I need to be able to provide large files for download. However, because of the load balancing situation, the files are stored in the SQL database as opposed to the file system. BITS seems to be the best approach. I have full control of the client. However, i don't know how to configure BITS to read the file from the database. I know how to write the C# code for that, but i don't know how to get BITS to hook into it as opposed to reading the file from the file system. Any ideas?

  • How to save bytes to an image and access it from Bottle

    I'm working on an API wrapper for Snapchat using Python and Bottle, but in order to return the file (retrieved by the Python script) I have to save the bytes (returned by Snapchat) to a .jpg file. I'm not quite sure how I will do this and still be able to access the file so that it can be returned.   • Wanting to edit a google maps info bubble

    I have to edit an info bubble on a website to help someone out. The site is already online and i dont have the ftp login details so i cant download the files and use them locally to test it. So im having some issues with inserting a logo on the top of the bubble, like a header. Im also having problems with the code needed to add 'to here' and 'from here' directions at the bottom of the bubble. Everything else is plain text in the middle of these 2 objects, so thats easy. Can anyone help me with the header pic and directions code?

    In your experience, what kinds of things have turned away users and prospective users from using your programs? Also, what kinds of things turn you away from using someone else's programs? For example, one thing that really bugs me is when someone provides free software, but requires you to enter your name and email address before you download it. Why do they need my name and email address? I just want to use the program! I understand that the developer(s) may want to get a feel for how many users they have, etc, but the extra work I have to do really makes me think twice about downloading their software, even if it does really great things.

  • Bitmap in ImageView is cropped off the screen

    I'm working on an Android application that needs to download an image and display it inside an image view. The Bitmap is passed to the main java file and added to the image view like this: comic = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.comic); comic.setImageBitmap(c.getImageBitmap()); This works, except that the left side of the image disappears off the screen. The ImageView is in a ScrollView and the scroll view maintains the correct size. This means that there is black space to the right in the ScrollView and the image is cut off to the left. The XML for the ImageView is this: <ScrollView android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" Any idea why my image is being cut off? Thanks!

    I am trying to install on a VM that is offline. I have downloaded eclipse. I have downloaded the android sdk and pointed to it in eclipse. I still cannot see any target platforms in order to create an android project. What am i missing? I need to set this up without using the android sdk/avd manager to download the platforms.     My goal is to debug my programm, that uses java mail library(including javax.mail and com.sun.mail). So i decided first to download java mail sources and compile it with option -g. I go to the java mail sources and binaries , downloaded them. Somehow sources store in jar but not just zip. Ok. Then i decided to decompile jar into zip with JAD plugin in eclipse. After decompiling i receive empty directory. I downloaded jad.exe and run it , but it throwed a message : JavaClassFileParseException: Not a class file. It says it decompiles only classes, but what about jars? Is it so hard just store sources in fu** zip ???!!!!

    I have an iOS enterprise app that we are wirelessly distributing to our devices. Currently the app polls our server once a day to see if there is an app update. If there is, we try to install it by having the app call the following code: NSURL *installUrl = [NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=%@", plistUrl]]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:installUrl]; This causes the app to prompt the user with an alert dialog to install the update. If they click install, the app closes and the update is downloaded and installed. I am wondering if there is anything for enterprise apps for iOS 7 similar to the AppStore's automatic updates? I would like to be able to update our app without the user having to press an update button and be able to update at a time when the user won't have to wait for it to install.

    Well, I reinstalled Visual Studio 2008 and did not have a backup of my vssetting file. I did not think it was that important as I had barely customised it, however it just doesn't feel right! The general windows feel correct but When I switch between views (source code, Windows forms, web editor), all the toolbars get muddled up. In the past few years, I have seen so many "post your desktop" type items and I could swear there there would be some "post your IDE", but after looking on Google and several other programming sites, I just can't find one! I don't want this turning in to a post your IDE unless others want to, but can anyone point me to a site where they have done this, or even better - are there any vssetting sharing places where you can download ones made by others?

  • Limitation of Attachment size when using SMTP

    Hi, I wrote a C++ program to send a mail using SMTP. But when I attach any files I notices that a single file's size always is limited to 808 bytes. As an example if I send a text file with 10 KBs, when I download the attachment it has only text worth 808 bytes. If the large file is a zip file, it gets corrupted in unzipping obviously due to CRC failure. I used a MAPI library to send larger files without a problem. Is this a network limitation of SMTP? Can someone please explain why this is happening?? Thank You!!!

    I'm writing a backbone.js app. I have multiple js, css and html template files. I also have a script to crunch them into a single file so it is faster to download. How should I work during development: Add a listener to the file system and after every change compile the files so I can see it in a browser. This implies a 1-2 seconds overhead before I can see what I did, which is annoying for html fine-tuning. Somehow browse using the multiple files during development and only crunch before going to production. This means I need to have a separate index.html for dev and prod. What's your take?

    I have a Visual Studio Setup project and have followed the steps mentioned in this link to load the Shared Add-in Support Update for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002) to the prerequisites list. The entry appears but there is this following warning shown No 'HomeSite' attribute has been provided for 'Shared Add-in Support Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB908002)', so the package will be published to the same location as the bootstrapper. I use the Download component from the component vendor's website option. How do I set a homesite for this update so that the update is directly downloaded and installed. I do not want to distribute the update along with my setup. Thanks

    Hi, I need to give one client the ability to convert some videos to f4v h264 before loading it up to an AIR app. I normally doing with the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 but that only ships with adobe products (you can't download it as a free standalone app - which, start rant is odd, you'd think they would push the format - Microsoft's competing expresssion encoder is free end rant) Anyway, I need to get a (hopefully not too expensive, but willing to pay for it) good 3rd part app that can take any video and convert it to an f4v. Can you suggest any? Everything i've found is horrible or jammed with ads and crap. What would you use? Any suggestion? (please don't just say ffmpeg - I know it can do it but we need to good simple GUI) Thanks!

I'd like to see what options are out there, but most of all the easiest to learn with fastest results... wondering if anyone had experience.   • Is GAE Really GZipping My Content? Slow Response Times with GAE as CDN

    I am testing out Google App Engine as a free Content Delivery Network and it feels like it's taking a long time to serve up my content. Why does this gae page take a say a half a second to download, while your typical stack overflow page downloads much faster even with a ton more content? What am I missing here? All I have done is create an app and uploaded an image according to that tutorial, but content is being served very slowly it seems. Any suggestions? (Not considering Amazon or other CDNs right now, just looking for help with GAE). Note: I am using Safari when I visit those links, maybe safari is causing problems?

    I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael).     hi, i just have a few weeks programming with vc# (2008) and i'm trying to build an application (winforms) and i have the following problem... i need my application to work with and without connection to the mssql database, this sounds like piece of cake for our friend DataSet right? i can persist the data as XML or binary until i can reach the database and the DataSet will magically sync; all without bothering the user. The problem is... the few books i have read just mention that logic like a fairy tale but dont give any practical example of how to do it, can you point me to one example/demo/whatever i can read or download of an application with (equal or) similar logic?

This application is currently available on app store as paid application, I want to update this paid application to free application with this In App purchase feature, where users can download it freely and have to pay for few features to unlock them. But the problem is that, if I update the existing paid application as free application (with few features locked and user has to buy it to unlock it), what about the users who have already purchased this application. Because when they will update to new free application, few features will be locked and they have to pay again to unlock them (why should they pay, if they have already purchased whole application previously).
