  • Load balancing with rsync

    i have 2 server with public ip: SERVER A - 10.10.10.11 SERVER B - 10.10.10.12 both of them are centos 6 in OS, installed nginx with php-fpm, 2 exact same website stored at: /var/www/html. Domain with: myxdomain.com and dns hosted with cloudflare ( since cloudflare do support round robin ) to point the domain to A record of 10.10.10.11 and 10.10.10.12. I know that round robin dns does not cover the failover or fallover, but it does not matter, what i need is: How do i sync the both content of /var/www/html server A and server B to be exactly same? Lets say: 1) user uploaded their file to server A, the file content will be sync to server B as well. 2) user uploaded their file to server B, the file content will be sync to server A as well. rsync will be good choice here? Any example of command line and cronjob time that suitable? thanks

  • How can I delete virtual networks from command line?

    I have Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 (without GUI) running at my colo for a week. I was connected via RDP and could use the menu interface and command line. I figured out how to connect Hyper-V Manager from my Win7 laptop (THANK YOU HVREMOTE!), and created and installed my VM. I created a virtual network that didn't work (no connectivity from my VM) so I created another using different settings, and now have lost access to the Hyper-V host. No ping, no RDP. Since I don't have console access, I cannot troubleshoot. I believe if I deleted the Virtual Networks I'd regain access, but I need a command line instruction for this, that the staff onsite could enter to accomplish this. I find no help anywhere obvious (MSDN, etc), the keywords are too general. Can anyone refer me to simple steps how to do this over command line or with the menu based interface on the console?

  • Very poor SCSI hd performance on IBM x336 with LSI 1030 RAID1

    I'm experiencing very poor performance on an IBM x336 server with dual 73GB 15k hard drives on a U320 controller, LSI 1030. We're getting maybe 3.5MB/sec max (per HD Tune utility). It should be over 100MB/sec at least, I would think (another x335 box is running 70-80MB/sec). The server was recently setup and didn't really notice the problem, but may have been there from the beginning, so not sure. I have installed the IBM ServerRAID Windows utility. The server is running Windows 2008 R2 Web edition (if that matters). I thought maybe one of the drives was bad, so far I have removed one of the drives out of the array and tested again, but still the same results. I'm waiting for the RAID1 to resync and I will try pulling the other drive next. I've also used the ServerRAID utility but haven't noticed anything in there that might indicate a problem. Not sure if I'm on the right path here. So looking for some advice to track this down.

  • Using Apache / Kerberos / Keytab to Authenticate Redmine Users Against Active Directory

    Please bare with me, as I am still fresh to these technologies. We have a Debian (squeeze) server to which I have root access. It is running Apache, and Redmine is deployed to the server (currently using a local MySQL database for authentication). Apache is configured to use Kerberos and a keytab file to authenticate users against Active Directory. With the current configuration, as soon as a user attempts to access anything over https, the user is prompted for a username / password, which is successfully authenticated against Active Directory. I understand (somewhat) that Redmine has its own LDAP configuration that can be used to authenticate users against an existing Active Directory, but this would require the user to enter their credentials one time for Apache and then a second time for Redmine. I am wondering, Can I somehow configure Redmine to share the Apache authentication method as opposed to requiring the user to enter their credentials a second time? (Using Apache to authenticate against Active Directory is a requirement for a separate application on the server)

  • Bad certificate error with RabbitMQ using SSL

    I am trying to get RabbitMQ working with SSL on a couple of Gentoo servers. I get the following error in /var/log/rabbitmq/[email protected] when I try to connect to the management console using https: SSL: certify: ssl_connection.erl:1641:Fatal error: bad certificate I followed the instructions here: http://www.rabbitmq.com/ssl.html The annoying thing is that I have 2 cloned servers and it is working on one and not the other. As far as I can tell the machines are configured identically. I wrote a script to generate the certs etc. and have run it on both. I am not using client certificates. Anyone know how I can figure out whats wrong with my certificate(s)? I am using Erlang 15.2, RabbitMQ 2.7.9, OpenSSL 0.9.8k.

  • Paste string of date format mm/dd/yy to Numbers

    I have trouble to paste a list of strings in the format of 'mm/dd/yy' into Numbers. For example: 04/01/10 04/03/10 04/13/10 The result will be: 2004-01-10 2004-03-10 04/13/10 It looks like that Numbers convert the mm into year, then month and last day. Is there any way to paste whatever as they are? Do I have to change settings in Numberers or System preference?

  • Computer Comparison - which is "better"

    A company I work with recently replaced their old server and gave it to me. Their old server is a Dell PowerEdge 2600. I've been playing with the machine and even installed Windows Server 2008 on it...and it seems to run it pretty well. Here are the specs for the two machines: Dev Machine: AMD Athlon64 3000+ 2.38 GHz (overclocked from 1.8GHz [@ 280x8.5] - it is stable-ish) Memory (RAM): 1x1GB OCZ PC3200 (Dual-Channel) 300GB HD OS: Windows XP Pro (32bit) SuperPi 1M digit test: 40 seconds Dell PowerEdge 2600 Server: Intel Xeon CPU 2.8GHz 2.8GHz Memory (RAM): 512MBx2 (PC2700, not dual channel) 68GB HD (RAID 5) OS: Windows Server 2000 (32bit) SuperPi 1M digit test: 56 seconds [using 1 processor] (Themes and Aero-Flass UI turned off, of course) I use my computer to regularly run Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS5, Flash CS5, 5 browsers (Chrome, FF, IE, Safari, Opera), iTunes, Visual Studio 2010, and Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 [sometimes simultaneously :-) ]. The SuperPi test has my dev machine coming in about 30% faster than the Server machine...though this could be due to the server running "Vista" with background processes prioritized. Do you think it would be realistic/advantageous for me to move from my dev machine to the Dell PowerEdge 2600? Is it possible to install additional DVD drives/burners on the server? Can I install my internal 300 GB hard drive on the server? Can I add some USB 2.0 ports? Note: I'll probably install Win XP Pro on the dev machine if I do switch. If not, are there any creative and useful way for me to take advantage of this server (with the goal of faster computing)?

  • I would like to prevent these entries from being added to the eventlog.

    Our client's application EventLog is getting filled up with warnings due to a bug in the Microsoft SQL Server report viewer control, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973219. They have thousands of users running reports so this is making their eventlog hard to use and they want them removed on a frequent basis. I tried using PowerShell to remove the events, but that does not seem possible. Is there a way to prevent these entries from being written to the event log in the first place? I'm thinking I would like to filter out events where event source="ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0", eventId ="1309" and Message contains "Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd"

  • How do I connect to MySQL when it's setting behind 2 layers of ssh?

    I have a MySQL server sitting behind a bastion server that I wish to connect to from my local machine. Ideally I want to port-forward the MySQL port (3316 in this case) to a local port on my machine. I've tried plink -ssh -L 3306:my.sql.ip.address:3316 my.bastion.server ,but this is not working. I've got one ssh login for the bastion server and another login for the machine mysql server is running on.

  • Copy Network Volume configuration among Linux systems

    I have several standalone Debian Linux (Lenny) systems. As it stands now, all of the systems are configured with a generic login account. This login account has a network volume that connects to a Windows share on a Windows server. I need to create a batch of user accounts on all of the systems (this part I figured out). After I create all of the user accounts, I need all of them to have the same network volume mapping as the current generic account. Is the network volume configuration saved somewhere, where I could copy that configuration across all of the user accounts?

  • Intel D2500HN Atom D2500 Doesn't turn on

    I recently bought parts from Amazon to build an embedded PC, and have assembled everything. I have: Intel D2500HN Mini-ITX Motherboard Mini-Box Pico-PSU 80 M350 Universal Min-ITX Enclosure 2GB DDR3 Memory Kinamax AD-LCD12 LCD Monitors 12V 6A 72W AC Adapter Power Supply The motherboard gets a light (on the motherboard, not on the Pico-PSU) when I plug it into the power adapter. Furthermore, I see the power switch light come on when I press the power button. However, the display doesn't turn on, and it doesn't seem that the PC is actually turned on. Since I'm seeing these lights, I know that the motherboard is getting power. Furthermore, the display VGA port is embedded into the motherboard, so that's not the issue. I'm just trying to figure out what COULD be the issue aside from a faulty motherboard. I have a diagram of the D2500HN motherboard which labels everything, and have ensured that the power LED as well as the On/Off cables are plugged into the right spots, although to be sure I've tried flipping these two cables around, and also plugging 1 cable into the other cable's spot & vice-versa. Is there anything else you folks think I may be missing, or anything else I can do to try to troubleshoot this issue before sending the motherboard back?

  • Monitor HTTP usage on network from Linux free

    I manage a small office network. I am looking to start monitoring/logging internet usage (website requests) for each user on a small network. All the windows clients are running through a switch to a BT router. I also have a linux (centos) machine which is connected as a client to the BT router as well. Is there any free software I can install on the linux box (or my own machine) to allow me to log and monitor websites requested by users kind of like browser history.     We are moving our websites to a new server, and in the process, have found that our current version of cPanel 11.24 doesn't have a maximum number of characters for a MySQL Database Username, like cPanel 11.25 does (it's set to 7). However, we have MySQL users whose names are longer than 7 characters. 1) Will something disastrous happen if we upgrade cPanel on our current server? 2) How can I change this setting in the new version of cPanel / WHM?

  • 403 Forbidden When Using AuthzSVNAccessFile

    I've had a nicely functioning svn server running on windows that uses Apache for access. In the original setup every user had access to all repositories, but I recently needed the ability to grant a user only access to one repository. I uncommented the AuthzSVNAccessFile line in my httpd.conf file and pointed it to an accessfile and setup the access file, but I get a 403 Forbidden when I go to mydomain.com/svn . If I recomment out this line then things work again. I also made sure I uncommented the LoadModule authz_svn_module and verified that it was point to the correct file. Below is the Location section of my httpd.conf and my svnaccessfile httpd.conf (location section only) <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath C:\svn SVNListParentPath on AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion repositories" AuthUserFile passwd Require valid-user AuthzSVNAccessFile svnaccessfile </Location> (I want a more complex policy in the long run but just did this to test the file out) svnaccessfile [svn:/] * = rw I have also tried just the below for the svnaccessfile.   • Mounting an attached ebs volume in EC2

    I've created an EC2 instance, created an EBS volume, attached it to the running instance, and successfully ssh'ed into my instance. The drive is attached as /dev/sdf Next, I tried mounting the drive by running: mkdir /testName mount -t ext3 /dev/sdf /testName But then I get the error message: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdf, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so What am I doing wrong?
