  • Writing an upstart file which allows the user to input username and password

    I'm trying to write an upstart file for OpenConnect. The task is pretty simple, but I'm stuck because I don't want to provide the username and password in a config file, but prompt the user to provide them each time. The upstart file, placed in /etc/init/openconnect.conf is exec /usr/sbin/openconnect --script=/etc/vpnc/vpnc-script my-gw.example.com However, when I execute start openconnect the process is backgrounded immediately and I get no chance to provide input. How can I make this upstart job ask the user for input?

    I'm trying to record some of my work process in Camtasia using the stereo mix input. However, my headset microphone is quiet at the best of times, and no matter what combination of input and output volume settings I use, my voice is consistently inaudible. Know of a good fix for this? Should I be looking for a decent audio mixer--and if so, do you know of one that's as effective as it is free?

I can manually set it (System Preferences - Language & Text - Input Sources), and there's a nice option that lets me use different input sources for different documents, but I'd like to bind it to a key under zsh to easily swap between Qwerty and Dvorak layouts (I'm learning Dvorak, and having the option to switch easily would be sensational).

  • Losing sessions with window.open and cakephp redirection in PHP with cakephp

    Hi guys, Ok, here goes a very strange problem... Our team is using cakephp to develop a large application. Everything session related is working properly so far. The only issues we've had so far are related to iframes and opening windows in other subdomains. I'll explain: User opens up site A and logs into it, creation a User in a session. Cookies are set, everything works as expected. The user clicks a link that opens up Site B via Javascript. When they go to that site, they are automatically logged in by a backend mechanism and infrastructure. Site B is a subdomain of Site A. On that site there is another mechanism to go back to the first page (a link rather) that logs them back in to site A. The fun part about this whole process is the following, and that on step 3, when we click on the link, the session on Site A has been lost. I know it's lost because it is forcing login again. I am a bit lost, as the rest of the application that work with AJAX and uses iframes and stuff works flawlessly, just this one item does not work as one would expect.   • Redirection on the last Slideshow-Element with Jquery

    Hi, I'm very new to Jquery and want to realize a manual slideshow with a page-redirect on the last "next"-button. I detect the last Slide-Element with CSS-Classes and then I want to add a Class to the next button to declare that it is the last next-button of the whole Slideshow. The half of my Code works :) – If I navigate to the last Slide-Element, Jquery adds the Class "last" to the button and if I click on the button with this Class, I'm redirected to the next page – that's what I want. But if I navigate to the last Slide-Element, then click a few times the "prev"-button and then again the next button, I'm instantly redirected although the Class "last" was removed.     Hello, I have a Rails app where I set a set a session variable the moment a user lands on my site with the referer and the page they hit. Additionally, I have Google Optimizer sending traffic from my homepage to various landing pages. The problem is that I think Google Optimizer is sending users away before the cookie is set. Is that even possible? I believe that the cookie is set from the HTTP Header, which must have fully loaded before Google's Javascript has even loaded. Thanks, Jason

  • PHP Regex to remove nested form elements but not input elements

    I'm modifying a PHP script that I have and it is currently outputting a nested form. Something like: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <p>stuff here here, this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <div>stuff here possibilly</div> Username: <input type="text" name="user" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> <p>otherstuff this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> </form> Nested form's are a no-no (IE hates them and basically causes the form to stop working), so I need to remove the nested form lines, but not the form items. I need to remove the nested: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> and </form> but not the outer <form and </form> or the input or submit stuff. Is this possible to do with regex? Note, the reason I just want to regex out the form rather than find the problem is because I know it will take some significant re-working to get rid of the double form... the regex solution is quick for now.

    When displaying data from DB usually I'm in this situation I'm in page A.php that shows data from DB, user performs some action (like edit/delete etc) and page B.php is loaded to perform the action, once page B performed the action, it redirects browser to page A, page A is auto reloaded during step (3) therefor it shows an updated situation of the data In order to make page B to redirect to page A i use a simple PHP header("Location: " . "A.php", TRUE, 302); This works well in all situations, except when pages A.php is displaied into an <iframe>: in such a case it does not reload (step 4 does not get done). This seems to happen only in IE7 (don't know about IE8), it works perfectly on FF/Safari. And only when using an <iframe>, if page A.php is not in <iframe> it gest refreshed also in IE7. In order to solve this I simply added a couple of headers in page A.php to set it to not be cached: header("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate"); // HTTP/1.1 header("Expires: Sat, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT"); // Date in the past But I was curious if you migt have exeperienced the same issue too in the past, and if you good give me some advises about this. Should I say that this redirect responce from my server is generated automately (most probaby my facebook php lib) I have no more ideas why this happends. Any ideas?

    I'm having difficulties in the making the logout code for php to work. When I click on the logout button, it will go back to the home page, but when I click on the back button in the browser. I can still access the previous page, wherein the user must be logged on to access it. So I'm thinking of redirecting to the login page when the user clicks on the back button on the browser.     I have a big application covered by more than a thousand tests via rspec. We just made the choice to redirect any page like : / /foo /foo/4/bar/34 ... TO : /en /en/foo /fr/foo/4/bar/34 .... It's breaking a lot of my tests, ex : it "should return 404" do Video.should_receive(:failed_encodings).and_return([]) get :last_failed_encoding response.status.should == "404 Not Found" end To fix this test, I should do : get :last_failed_encoding, :locale => "en" But ... seriously I don't want to fix all my test one by one ...     Hi guys, I've been trying to do the following with mod_rewrite on the server there is a file about.htm (which is found in the root directory of the domain) I need to redirect about.htm to about/ On the server still keep about.htm, hence when about/ is called, it actually loads up about.htm I tried something like this: RewriteRule ^about/$ about.htm [L] RewriteRule ^about\.htm$ about/ [R=302] I also tried changing it a bit and see what happends, but I always end up with an infinite loop of redirection or a 500 server error. Any idea why it's not working as intended? Thanks in advance!

  • Inconsistent height of text input elements between Firefox and WebKit

    OK, I realize that this is something of an eternal question, but here goes: I've got a single text input, <input type="text" name="whatever" /> and I've specified its font-family, font-size and padding. Yet, even on the same machine (my Mac, let's say), the input has a different height in Firefox (3.6) than it does in Chrome or Safari. Specifically, Firefox adds a little bit more padding below the text. And no, specifying height in pixels doesn't achieve consistency either. Is there any way to achieve text input height consistency across Gecko- and WebKit-based browsers (let alone IE and Opera) without resorting to JavaScript? And if I must use JavaScript, has someone already devised a jQuery plugin or something to easily do this? Update: Here's what not to do. The jqTransform plugin lets you skin form elements and promises that they'll look the same across browsers. Here's how the demo input looks in Chrome 5 on my Mac: and here's how the same input looks in Firefox 3.6.4: I haven't altered these screenshots in any way, just cropped them. Now, my first reaction is, "Ugh, I don't want to support Firefox." But there are currently more Firefox users than Safari and Chrome users combined, so that's not an option. Someone, please help! I just want my forms to look the same across modern, standards-compliant browsers! And by "look the same," I'm not talking about the outline on selection or anything like that; I'm just talking about having the same width, height, and text placement!
