Google search results are invalid

I'm writing a program that lets a user perform a Google search. When the result comes back, all of the links in the search results are links not to other sites but to Google, and if the user clicks on one, the page is fetched not from the other site but from Google. Can anyone explain how to fix this problem? Unity Dash and top toolbar won't open after updating to 12.10

Today, I updated to Ubuntu 12.10. After re-starting, like the updater suggested, the toolbar on the top of the screen, and the dash won't load. I seem to be missing other features, as well, like alttab to switch windows, etc. I am able to access the Terminal, by typing CtrlAltT, which is how I was bale to access Firefox. How can I improve the battery life under 12.04 on my Inspiron 14z? [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here: Tips to extend battery life for laptops and notebooks 24 answers How do I improve the battery life of my Inspiron 14z under Ubuntu 12.04? This laptop gets 4-5 hours of battery life using Windows (e.g. here). I've removed Windows, installed Ubuntu 12.04 and the initial battery life was only 2 hours. With some tweaks (described below) it's still only ~2.5 hours. For reference, the laptop is the latest model of the 14z: i5-3337U processor 32GB MSATA, 500GB HDD (5400rpm) AMD Radeon HD7570M graphics card I have put ext4 partitions on both the SSD and the HDD, and have mounted / to the SSD and /home to the HDD. I also put a 24gb linux swap partition at the start of the HDD, though I figure this won't be used all that much (the laptop has 8gb of RAM). After googling around and reading Ask Ubuntu and other sites extensively, I have done the following steps, and they have improved the battery life ~30 minutes (exact improvement not clear, but battery life is still nowhere near 4-5 hours). Installed Jupiter (and set Performance to "Power Saving") Installed laptop-mode-tools cat /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode now outputs 5 (previously it output 0) But it's not clear that this will help: AskUbuntu question Turned down the brightness of my screen from full to 1/3 Other things I have heard about but have not tried for fear of frying the laptop or my linux install: Add "pcie_aspm=force" at the end of the line with "quiet splash" in /boot/grub/grub.cfg Enable ALPM, but it may already be enabled in 12.04? Enable i915 framebuffer compression Use a propietary driver for the graphics card? Turn off the graphics card? (what would happen if I relied on the internal Intel bridge?) Use TLP? Spin down the HDD more aggressively (howto, but I think laptop-mode-tools does this already) The only other thing I've noticed is that plastic just above the F5, F6 and F7 keys gets really hot. According to Jupiter my CPU temperature is only 69 celsius and the System Monitor shows CPU load at 7% so I don't think it's the CPU. Maybe it's the graphics card? Also, I've set up MongoDB and LAMP on the machine as well. When I run powertop MongoDB is high in the list, but I'm not sure if that's relevant to battery life because I'm not actually doing anything with MongoDB most of the time. All the software seems to be there by default on Server 2012 and my hardware meets the reqs. Copy the installation media to the local drive and try to install from that (rather than a DVD). This produced the same error. Based on another error message, I installed .NET 4.0 (which apparently is not on Server 2012 out of the box). Same error. Install from command line. We use Commvault Simpana 8 and I have a situation where I have backups of an Oracle database on tape that were taken from Host A. Host A suffered a disk failure (lost its raid configuration) and the sys admins are trying to restore it; in the meantime, I'd working to bring the database back up on another host - Host B. I'm running into problems and am trying to sort out the parameters that need to be passed to the Commvault media agent to get this to work. Unfortunately, I do not have access to Commvault support and the backup person is unavailable. Any one have a clue? The backups are there and the media agent reported a successful write when they ran last night. How should I fix problems with file permissions while restoring from Time Machine?

While restoring files from a Time Machine backup, I got the error message "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." because of problems with files in one folder. What's the safest way to deal with this? Heavy Apache memory usage

Recently I've noticed that httpd processes started to consume massive amounts of memory - after some time pretty much using almost all of the 2GB of RAM the server has and I don't have any memory left for other stuff. So they all sit at ~270MB which is BAD. Is there a way for me to know where all the memory goes and why it stays that way? I haven't done any server tweaking lately, so I'm sure it's not me who messed something up (haven't had the problem before). The server is used to serve PHP apps. EDIT: Apache is configured with prefork module and MaxRequestsPerChild is set to 4000.

I've been getting errors whenever I try to run the task scheduler for Windows 2008 R2. I read that this issue could be because of Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB2449742) and that by uninstalling it I would be able to fix this issue, however I was not able to locate this anywhere in the server. Here's the link if interested Patch wise, everything is up to date. Also, I tried running hotfix KB2688730 to see if that would work after doing some research online, however the hotfix is not applicable to the computer. If anyone could provide some information on how to fix this and get the task scheduler running again it would be extremely helpful!
