  • Validate a single property with the Fluent Validation Library for .Net

    Can you validate just a single property with the Fluent Validation Library, and if so how? I thought this discussion thread from January of 2009 showed me how to do it via the following syntax: validator.Validate(new Person(), x => x.Surname); Unfortunately it doesn't appear this works in the current version of the library. One other thing that led me to believe that validating a single property might be possible is the following quote from Jeremy Skinners' blog post: "Finally, I added the ability to be able to execute some of FluentValidation’s Property Validators without needing to validate the entire object. This means it is now possible to stop the default “A value was required” message from being added to ModelState. " However I do not know if that necessarily means it supports just validating a single property or the fact that you can tell the validation library to stop validating after the first validation error.

  • Entity Framework Vote of No Confidence - relevant in .NET 4?

    Hi, I'm deciding on an ORM for a big project and was determined to go for ADO.NET Entity Framework, specifically its new version that ships with .NET 4. During my search for information on EF I stumbled upon ADO .NET Entity Framework Vote of No Confidence which I'm not sure how to take. The Vote of No Confidence was written sometime in 2008 to convince Microsoft to listen to specific criticism for EF v1. It's not clear whether the claims made in the Vote of No Confidence are still valid (in .NET 4) and if they're serious enough to use other solutions. NHibernate is a mature alternative, but I don't know what problems it brings. I'm generally more inclined towards a Ms solution, mainly because I can count on integration with VS and on their developer support. I would appreciate examples of how the problems mentioned in the Vote of No Confidence affect in real world projects. More importantly, are the claims made there still relevant in EF for .NET 4?   • Why did the aspnet_client folder come back in ASP.NET 4?

    I recently upgraded my MVC 1 project (ASP.NET 3.5) to MVC 2 (ASP.NET 4). I noticed there is now a folder "aspnet_client\system_web\4_0_30319" under the site root. This folder is empty... I'm just wondering if anyone knows why it was created. I remember the aspnet_client folder from the days of .NET 1.1, but I thought it was obsoleted when .NET 2.0 came out. For example, see the answers in these two stackoverflow posts: What is the aspnet_client folder in my ASP.NET website? What is the aspnet_client folder for under the IIS structure?     Hello! What would be a suitable way to inject a raw TCP packet with Python? For example, I have the payload consisting of hexadecimal numbers and I want to send that sequence of hexadecimal numbers to a network daemon: so that if I choose to send 'abcdef', I see 'abcdef' on the wire too. But not '6162636566' as in the case of: new = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) new.connect(('127.0.0.1', 9999)) new.send('abcdef') Can I use Python's SOCK_RAW for this purpose? If so, can you give me an example of sending raw TCP packets with SOCK_RAW (since I did not get it working myself) Thanks! Evgeniy

    Hello all, I'm using Enterprise library, but the idea is the same. I have a SqlStringCommand and the sql is constructed using StringBuilder in the forms of "insert into table (column1, column2, column3) values (@param1-X, @param2-X, @parm3-X)"+" " where "X" represents a "for loop" about 700 rows StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); for(int i=0; i<700; i++) { sb.Append("insert into table (column1, column2, column3) values (@param1-"+i+", @param2-"+i, +",@parm3-"+i+") " ); } followed by constructing a command object injecting all the parameters w/ values into it. Essentially, 700 rows with 3 parameters, I ended up with 2100 parameters for this "one sql" Statement. It ran fine for about a few days and suddenly I got this error =============================================================== A severe error occurred on the current command.   • Java TCP keep-alive for a master server

    Context: Master server (Java, TCP) monitoring a list of hosted games (a different machine for the master server and for each hosted game server). Any user can host a game on his PC. Hosted games can last weeks or months. Need: Knowing when hosted game servers are closed or no longer reachable. Restriction 1: Can't rely on hosted servers' "gone offline update message", since those messages may never arrive (power down, Internet link cut, etc.) Restriction 2: I'm not sure about TCP's built-in keep-alive, since it would mean a 24/7 open socket with each hosted server (correct me if I'm wrong) Any thoughts?

    Hi, I am trying to find out what would be the best bind first element of ISet (Iesi.Collection) as a first element. So basically I only have to use some kind of collection that has an indexer (and ISet doesn't) then I can write code like this (which works perfectly well): <%: Html.EditorFor(x => x.Company.PrimaryUsers[0].Email) %> But as the ISet has no indexer I cannot use it.     Is it possible to read the GUID from the Assembly without actually loading it in the current App Domain. Normally Assembly.Load loads the DLL into the app domain. I just want to read the value. The description of the GUID is 'The following GUID is for the ID of the typelib ' if this project is exposed to COM <Assembly: Guid("DEDDE61CD-928E-4ACD-8C25-3B8577284819")> The main thing is I don't want to lock the file so that there are no errors 'Another process is accessing the file' error.

  • Windows TCP connection - Still alive after process terminate

    Hi People, I run a license server in linux and a process in Windows to check out tokens from it. It does a tcp socket connection to server to communicate and once the process in Windows is closed, the tokens are checked in back to server. But I see sometime the connection show as established in netstat output even when process in Windows is terminated. This happens when the process in Windows is running for a long time and terminate. It takes 2-3 hours for the connection to go away in neststat output. TCP BABDT350:4505 180.190.40.34:51847 ESTABLISHED 2832 [app.EXE] Can you guys tell me is this is a network stack configuration issue in Windows? Is it possible for the connection to go away once process terminate? Please let me know your answers to this.

  • problem with RenderOuterTable property for .net 4.0 controls

    According to the new 4.0 framework overview, one should be able to add the attrib RenderOuterTable="false" to a control that supports the attribute and see css friendly code be spit out - in other words no html tables. To test this, I threw a login control into a basic fresh webpage with the following code: <asp:Login ID="Login1" runat="server" RenderOuterTable="false"></asp:Login> The result? Crappy html table output, which supposedly doesn't happen with this attrib set to false. Hopefully you get the point. Anyone know how to stop these controls from outputting tables? This is super annoying.

When I tried to connect through ssh client Tera Term its asking for username and password. But does it required for client to provide username and password? I a bit new to SSL. So please let me know the steps to connect to any ssl server using Tera Term. Another doubt is that can i use a TCP server socket without using http or ftp or telnet session?

    My linux application is performing non-blocking TCP connect syscall and then use epoll_wait to detect three way handshake completion. Sometimes epoll_wait returns with both POLLOUT & POLLERR revents set for the same socket descriptor. I would like to understand what's going on at TCP level. I'm not able to reproduce it on demand. My guess is that between two calls to epoll_wait inside my event loop we had a SYN+ACK/ACK/FIN sequence but again I'm not able to reproduce it. Any clue ? Regards, Seb

    While designing a master page i am adding a number of images to it. I have an image tag inside the master page, <img src="../../Content/Images/img19.jpg" class="profileImage" /> When i run my app, the image doesn't show up in the browser because the src path in the page that browser gets is same as in the master page. ie. "../../Content/Images/img19.jpg" But it should have been "Content/Images/img19.jpg" If i correct the src path in master page as <img src="Content/Images/img19.jpg" class="profileImage" /> Then I can see the image in the browser but not in design mode. Any help is appreciated.

    I have a User Control that contains a System.Web.UI.WebControls.FileUpload control as well as a button to 'Submit'. When the button is clicked code similar to the following is executed: If FileUploadControl.HasFile Then 'Save the file and do some other stuff End If This code works just fine with Windows XP. However, if I run it from a Windows 7 64-bit machine using IE8 32-bit the HasFile property always returns false and nothing is saved?! Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • ASP.NET aspxerrorpath in URL

    I have a site where I use CustomErrors in the web.config to specify a custom error page, and that's working just fine. The custom 404 page is also specified in the IIS configuration (because if it's not, I don't get my custom 404 page). But I have some logic that kicks in if a user gets a 404 that looks at their requested URL and make a navigation suggestion, if appropriate. This logic relies on the aspxerrorpath value. On my development PC, the aspxerrorpath is correctly appended to the URL, like so: http://localhost:3092/FileNotFound.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/badpage.aspx, but on my test site, there's no aspxerrorpath appended to the URL, so all of my custom logic is bypassed and my suggestions don't work. I'm not sure if this is an IIS config issue or something else. The web server is Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7. Any thoughts? Many Thanks.
