  • How to connect the printer HP 2575 to a network?

    - by Peter
I have 2 PCs and a router and I want to connect my HP 2575 to this network. So, I found a network cable and I connected the printer to the router. I access the router and I can see that the printer is connected. My question is: How can I use the printer, from one of my computer. I tried Add Printer feature, but with no luck. Any ideas?

  • How do I map a network drive in Ubuntu? I want to save my Firefox downloads directly in the mapped n

    - by NJTechie
I work in an environment wherein files are exchanged over email which are then processed into databases. In Windows, mapping a network drive and storing files directly to a folder in the network drive from Firefox/Chrome downloads is a breeze. How to achieve the same in Ubuntu? I don't see the SFTP'ed drive/directory as options in Firefox- Downloads setup. Thanks in advance!

  • On a local network, are you able to password protect certain folders and how (in windows xp)?

    - by Derek
I have a local network set up for my small office which consists of me, the manager, my wife, the secretary, and a few sales people/others. I would like to share passwords over the network and other such things privately to my wife, the secretary, but would not like the sales people and others to have access to it, yet I need the others to have access to other folders/documents that I'd like to share. How would I go about doing this if not by password? Thanks in advance

  • How to track a network users accessability on a document?

    - by BigBoy
We have a document on common folder (Linux as server) on a network which can be accessed by log-in users. Is there way to track the users who really accessed (read/copy operations only) the document? We can log the users who accessed the network, but not sure if they really viewed/copied the document. How can we check this?

  • What can SNMP be useful for in a small network?

    - by Sanoj
I have been administering servers and clients in small business offices, and have never used SNMP. But I have read about it and it looks interesting. As what I understand, it is mostly useful if you have a bigger network with a lot of network equipment that should be monitored. Is there any useful use cases for SNMP in smaller networks? And is it recommended that I use it?

  • What is the best way/tool to analyze raw data(network stats) from Simulation?

    - by user90500
After running a simulation(using a simulator(QualNet)) of a simulated network I end up with ip stats stored in a database, I then extract the data to a csv file So now I have 750mb of raw network stats(time stamp, packet id, source ip, source port, protocol, etc). What are the common ways of analyzing large amounts of data like above, if you want to know things like packet loss, throughput, delay, congestion, etc.

  • Phpmyadmin location for nginx

    - by multiformeinggno
    I installed nginx and phpmyadmin. I set up a domain with these parameters to test phpmyadmin: server { listen 80; server_name domain.com; root /usr/share/phpmyadmin; index index.php; fastcgi_index index.php; location ~ \.php$ { include /etc/nginx/fastcgi.conf; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /usr/share/phpmyadmin$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; } } And everything works properly (if I visit the domain I can login to phpmyadmin). The problem is that it was just for testing phpmyadmin, now I'd like to move this to my 'default' site. But I can't figure out how to have it on /phpmyadmin. Here's the config for the 'default' nginx site (where I'd like to put this /phpmyadmin location): server { server_name blabla; access_log /var/log/nginx/$host.access.log; error_log /var/log/nginx/error.log; root /var/www/default; index index.php index.html; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ index.php; } location ~ \.php$ { include /etc/nginx/fastcgi.conf; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; } ### NginX Status location /nginx_status { stub_status on; access_log off; } ### FPM Status location ~ ^/(status|ping)$ { fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; access_log off; } }

  • Apache override in sub-location

    - by Atmocreations
This is my Apache vHost-configuration: <VirtualHost subversion.domain.com:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName servername.domain.com Documentroot /srv/www/htdocs/svn ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/subversion-error_log CustomLog /var/log/apache2/subversion-access_log combined HostnameLookups Off UseCanonicalName Off ServerSignature Off <Location "/"> AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthType Basic AuthzLDAPAuthoritative on AuthName "SVN" AuthLDAPURL "ldap://myldapurl/..." NONE AuthLDAPBindDN "mybinddn" AuthLDAPBindPassword mypwd DAV svn SVNParentPath /svn/ SVNListParentPath on require ldap-group groupname Order allow, deny Allow from all </Location> </VirtualHost> This works perfectly. But I would now like to add a web-frontend for the subversion server. I therefore added the lines <Location "/web"> DAV off Order allow, deny Allow from all </Location> But they don't work, as the <Location "/">...</Location> part is directing the requests to the SVN/DAV module. Therefore, apache tells that it couldn't open the requested SVN-filsystem. Does anybody know how to override this setting? Any hint is appreciated.

  • Changing SkyDrive default location on Windows 8.1

    - by jmblack
Update: This issue is due to the use of any non-local location for the SkyDrive folder. I've currently worked around this by using a local folder, but this has not resolved the original problem. I am trying to change the location where SkyDrive is located in Windows 8.1. This is the newly integrated SkyDrive, and not a downloadable client. There are a couple of similar questions on this site, but they pertain to Windows 8 and 8.1 Preview: Changing the SkyDrive default path in Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 Preview) How do I change the SkyDrive default folder in Windows (Windows 8) The SkyDrive folder is a system folder in 8.1, and like other system folders, has a Location tab in its properties that theoretically lets you change its location. I was able to do this with other system folders such as Downloads and Pictures, but there is an error when I try to change this for SkyDrive. Edit: The location that causes this error is a mapped network drive. The error does not occur when trying to move SkyDrive to another location on the same drive. There are no permission restrictions on the mapped network drive. Edit #2: This is the method I followed that produced the error: A screenshot of the error can be found here Has anyone else encountered this or have any information on this?

  • Possible to have different SSLCACertificateFiles under different Location in Apache (client side ssl certs)

    - by Mikko Ohtamaa
I am setting up Apache to do smartcard authentication. The smartcard login is based on client-side SSL certificates handled by an OS driver. I have currently just one smartcard provider, but in the future there are potentially several of them. I am not sure how Apache 2.2. handles client-side certifications per Location. I did some quick testing and it somehow seemed that only the last SSLCACertificateFile directive would have been effective and this doesn't sound right. Is it possible to have different SSLCACertificateFile per Location in Apache (2.2, 2.4) as described below or is SSL protocol somehow limiting that you cannot have more than one SSLCACertificateFile per IP? Example potential config below how I wish to handle several SSLCACertificateFile on the same server to allow users to log in with different smartcard provides. <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:443> # Real men use mod_proxy DocumentRoot "/nowhere" ServerName local-apache ServerAdmin [email protected] SSLEngine on SSLOptions +StdEnvVars +ExportCertData # Server-side HTTPS configuration SSLCertificateFile /etc/apache2/certificate-test/server.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/apache2/certificate-test/server.key # Normal SSL site traffic does not require verify client SSLVerifyClient none SSLVerifyDepth 999 # Provider 1 <Location /@@smartcard-login> SSLVerifyClient require SSLCACertificateFile /etc/apache2/certificate-test/ca.crt # Apache does not natively pass forward headers # created by SSLOptions +StdEnvVars, # so we pass them forward to Python using RequestHeader # from mod_headers RequestHeader set X-Client-DN %{SSL_CLIENT_S_DN}e RequestHeader set X-Client-Verify %{SSL_CLIENT_VERIFY}e </Location> # Provider 2 <Location /@@smartcard-login-provider-2> # For real SSLVerifyClient require SSLCACertificateFile /etc/apache2/certificate-test/provider2.crt # Apache does not natively pass forward headers # created by SSLOptions +StdEnvVars, # so we pass them forward to Python using RequestHeader # from mod_headers RequestHeader set X-Client-DN %{SSL_CLIENT_S_DN}e RequestHeader set X-Client-Verify %{SSL_CLIENT_VERIFY}e </Location> # Connect to Plone ZEO client1 running on fg ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/https/local-apache:443/folder_sits/sitsngta/VirtualHostRoot/ ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/https/local-apache:443/folder_sits/sitsngta/VirtualHostRoot/ </VirtualHost>

  • mod_perl custom configuration directives don't work when placed in .htaccess and there is <Location>

    - by al_l_ex
I'm trying to complete Redmine's feature request #2693: Use Redmine.pm to authenticate for any directory (1). I have not much knowledge on all these things and need help. Redmine uses mod_perl module Redmine.pm for authentication & authorization. This module defines several custom configuration directives. I've successfully modified patch from (1) and it works when all config is in <Location>: <Location /digischrank/test> AuthType basic AuthName "Digischrank Test" Require valid-user PerlAccessHandler Apache::Authn::Redmine::access_handler PerlAuthenHandler Apache::Authn::Redmine::authen_handler RedmineDSN "DBI:mysql:database=SomedaTaBAse;host=localhost" RedmineDbUser "SoMeuSer" RedmineDbPass "SomePaSS" RedmineProject "digischrank" </Location> But when I move one of these directives (RedmineProject, see (1)) in .htaccess file, Redmine.pm doesn't see it! I've tried to change <Location> to <Directory> and add AllowOverride All. Directives from .htaccess is visible, but remaining ones from <Directory> - not. I don't want to move all directives to each .htaccess. When I add <Location> in addition to <Directory>, again - only directives from <Location> are visible. As far as I know, directives should be merged. I miss something?

  • Javascript for conditional URL append or redirect based on window.location.href

    - by Wintermute
::Hi all:: I am trying to make a bookmarklet that when clicked will check the URL of the current tab\window to see if it contains 'char1' and\or 'char2' (a given character). If both chars are present it redirects to another URL, for the other two it will append the current URL respectively. I believe there must be a more elegant way of stating this than the following (which has so far worked perfectly for me) but I don't have great knowledge of Javascript. My (unwieldy & repetitive) working code (apologies): if (window.location.href.indexOf('char1')!=-1 && window.location.href.indexOf('char2')!=-1) {window.location="https://website.com/";} else if (window.location.href.indexOf('char1')!=-1) {window.location.assign(window.location.href+='append1');} else if (window.location.href.indexOf('char2')!=-1) {window.location.assign(window.location.href+='append2');} Does exactly what I need it to but, well... not very graceful to say the least. Is there a simpler way to do this, perhaps with vars or a pseudo-object? Or better code :D

  • iOS LocationManager is not updating location (Titanium Appcelerator module)

    - by vale4674
I've made Appcelerator Titanium Module for fetching device's rotaion and location. Source can be found on GitHub. The problem is that it fetches only one cached location but device motion data is OK and it is refreshing. I don't use delegate, I pull that data in my Titanium Javascript Code. If I set "City Run" in Simulator - Debug - Location nothing happens. The same cached location is returning. Pulling of location is OK because I tried with native app wich does this: textView.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%f %f\n%@", locationManager.location.coordinate.longitude, locationManager.location.coordinate.latitude, textView.text]; And it is working in simulator and on device. But the same code as you can see on GitHub is not working as Titanium module. Any ideas? EDIT: I am looking at GeolocationModule src and I see nothing special there. As I said, my code in my module has to work since it is working in native app. "Only" problem is that it is not updating location and it always returns me that cached location.

  • Refreshing a MKMapView when the user location is updated or using default values

    - by koichirose
I'm trying to refresh my map view and load new data from the server when the device acquires the user location. Here's what I'm doing: - (void)viewDidLoad { CGRect bounds = self.view.bounds; mapView = [[MKMapView alloc] initWithFrame:bounds]; mapView.showsUserLocation=YES; mapView.delegate=self; [self.view insertSubview:mapView atIndex:0]; [self refreshMap]; } - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)theMapView didUpdateUserLocation:(MKUserLocation *)userLocation { //this is to avoid frequent updates, I just need one position and don't need to continuously track the user's location if (userLocation.location.horizontalAccuracy > self.myUserLocation.location.horizontalAccuracy) { self.myUserLocation = userLocation; CLLocationCoordinate2D centerCoord = { userLocation.location.coordinate.latitude, userLocation.location.coordinate.longitude }; [theMapView setCenterCoordinate:centerCoord zoomLevel:10 animated:YES]; [self refreshMap]; } } - (void)refreshMap { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible:YES]; [self.mapView removeAnnotations:self.mapView.annotations]; //default position NSString *lat = @"45.464161"; NSString *lon = @"9.190336"; if (self.myUserLocation != nil) { lat = [[NSNumber numberWithDouble:myUserLocation.coordinate.latitude] stringValue]; lon = [[NSNumber numberWithDouble:myUserLocation.coordinate.longitude] stringValue]; } NSString *url = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"http://myserver/geo_search.json?lat=%@&lon=%@", lat, lon]; NSURLRequest *theRequest=[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0]; [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; [url release]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible:NO]; } I also have a - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data, to create and add the annotations. Here's what happens: sometimes I get the location after a while, so I already loaded data close to the default location. Then I get the location and it should remove the old annotations and add the new ones, instead I keep seeing the old annotations and the new ones are added anyway (let's say I receive 10 annotations each time, so it means that I have 20 on my map when I should have 10). What am I doing wrong?

  • Fake location for the device (custom)

    - by AtomRiot
I know there are a few apps out there to fake a devices location but specifically what i want to do is use a location grabbed from a url. What direction should I look for setting the location on the device. The scenario i have is a jailbroken Wi-Fi iPad tethered to a nexus one. The nexus one would host a background service that when a request is recieved, it would respond with gps data of its current location. The jailbroken ipad would have a background service that either updated the location on a time interval, or on a per request basis (depending on how i have to implement it) by submitting a request to the tethered nexus one service. That data would then be set on the ipad and an application requesting location would get the service data. The goal is to recreate the location faker app's functionality with the exception of the spoofed location comes from the nexus ones gps via the service but i have not yet found out how to set the location data for the device. I can ofcourse implement this in a per app basis but it would be awesome to have any app be able to use it.

Ps. I noticed an up arrow just at the end of that line. (presumably something to do with that bbut not sure)

  • New Location for .NET 4 GAC

    - by Ricardo Peres
.NET 4 newcomers may have realised that the old GAC location (%WINDIR%\Assembly) does not contain .NET 4 global assembly cache assemblies. Indeed, they have moved to %WINDIR%\Microsoft.NET\Assembly. It is worth noting that this folder does not use the shell extension that the older one uses, which prevents us from directly looking at the folder's contents, which, IMO, is nice (I mean, the new behavior). The old folder continues to host pre-.NET 4 assemblies.

  • Windows 7 Unidentified Network problem. Cannot connect to the internet.

    - by Gordon
This is my first time on this website, but I was told this was a good place to ask this. I basically have a problem with Windows 7 connecting to my home network. It keeps identifying my home network as unidentified, and it continually does "identifying" until it simply say cannot connect to the Internet. I don't know how this problem occurred. It simply happened one morning. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a Realtek Network adapter. I don't think its the drivers. I have already tried system restore to a date when my computer was working fine but it still didn't fix the problem. From what Ive read online there was this bug in the services.msc area, something to do with Bonjour service. I cannot find either so I do not think that was the problem. I'll be online for a while, so I can provide any additional details if needed. I don't really know how to explain it because its so fudging complicated. I really appreciate clear and open steps to solving this. I have tried some things like system restore and rolling back drivers, doesn't seem to help.
