  Let's say I've got around 50 PCs with identical specs but no CD or floppy drives and a blank hard disk, is there an efficient way to install (and update) an OS and software on each of them? Would I have to go to each PC one by one with the CDs or is there a way to install over a network? In the case of Windows XP would you need 50 separate copies?

  Is there any way to (manually or automatically) share downloaded software updates between macs? Edit: The thinking is that I have one mac update itself using Software Update, and then somehow share the downloaded updates with other macs. For example, I have a mac pro and a mac mini on my local network. I'd like to download the Mac OS X 10.6.5 update only once, instead of having to download it separately for each mac.

  My host is running Win 7 ultimate 64bit, ESET NOD32 AV 4.0 (64 bit). My guest OS is Windows XP Professional (Sp3) Using bridge mode, I can ping gateway just fine, even ping public dns server (8.8.8.8 or 208.67.222.222). But cannot resolve any dns request. I tried using nslookup with public dns, my gateway but no good. I can access my host share file normally thou. Any suggestions?

Under Windows there is the Universal Extractor, I am looking like something like that for Mac. I don't know if there is a universal solution to this problem or if I would need a extractor specific to the type of installer.   When working with eclipse, I'm used to have a floating window with the console and other views on my secondary monitor. Since the update to OSX 10.9 (Mavericks), I still can drag the floating window to the secondary screen, but it keeps popping back to the main monitor when e.g. changing the perspective - which is really annoying. This did not happen with Mac OS 10.8. Is there a way that the floating windows of eclipse stay on the secondary monitor?

  Note, there's already a question on this regard, but it's totally useless. I need to blur, or put a small opaque mask to a moving object on a movie I took, I am using Mac OS X. Clearly, I don't want to shell out a lot of money for something so simple, so getting Adobe Premiere or similar software is a no go. File ownership lists a three digit numerical value, rather than a userid, which I presume to be a UID.   I've been using Mac OS X's VNC service to connect remotely from a Windows XP box, via TightVNC. Everything seems to work normally, except that frequently - anywhere from ten seconds to ten minutes - the connection locks up entirely, without any sort of error message. The only solution is to reconnect and wait for it to lock up again. How can this be fixed permanently?

  Hi, I notice the message: Firewall[313] portmap is listening from 0.0.0.0:111 proto=6 repeated on my logs ever 30 seconds. How can I disable portmap (not using NFS or anything like that so I assume I have no need for it). I already tried Lingon.app and disabled com.apple.portmap from there, but that didn't help at all as portmap is still running after i rebooted.
