Does anyone have any ideas on how I could go about creating/implementing some kind of interactive widget generator that gives users options for customizing their widget?     I am writing a rogue-like 'zombie' management game. The game map will be similar to Prison Architect. A top-down 50 X 50 grid. I want to implemented a day night cycle and during the night I would like the player to be able to position lights. I would like to be able to lighten and dark to whole map to display the day and night cycle. Then lights would be a circle of light blocked by game entities such as walls, players, trees etc. How would I achieve and what is the standard way of achieving this?

  • Adwords: is it possible to automatically copy changes in one campaign to other campaigns?

    Is it possible to have identical campaigns except for one thing, and whenever changes are made to one campaign, the same changes are automatically made to others? I want to have identical campaigns running for different time zones, but for the campaigns only to run between particular hours of the day in each time zone. If I have a campaign for each time zone, when I make changes to one campaign, such as adding ad groups, or adding keywords, or changing bid amounts, etc, I want those changes to occur to the other campaigns also.   • Should subcontractors be paid for a lunch hour and breaks? [closed]

    I have never charged my clients for lunch-time or breaks, and I have never paid a subcontractor for it before either (at least not to my knowledge). My view has always been that subcontracting has many positives (higher pay, autonomy, etc.) and many negatives (no benefits, etc.) and one of the negatives is you get paid for productive time, which does not include lunch or breaks. But I still wonder, should subcontractors be paid like employees, for lunch breaks, coffee breaks etc.?

  • WPF: TreeViewItem bound to an ICommand

    Hi All, I am busy creating my first MVVM application in WPF. Basically the problem I am having is that I have a TreeView (System.Windows.Controls.TreeView) which I have placed on my WPF Window, I have decide that I will bind to a ReadOnlyCollection of CommandViewModel items, and these items consist of a DisplayString, Tag and a RelayCommand. Now in the XAML, I have my TreeView and I have successfully bound my ReadOnlyCollection to this. I can view this and everything looks fine in the UI. The issue now is that I need to bind the RelayCommand to the Command of the TreeViewItem, however from what I can see the TreeViewItem doesn't have a Command. Does this force me to do it in the IsSelected property or even in the Code behind TreeView_SelectedItemChanged method or is there a way to do this magically in WPF?   • "Unrecognized configuration section connectionStrings" in app.exe.config

    Hi On a Terminal Server install of my WinForms app, one of my clients gets the following exception on startup: "Unrecognized configuration section connectionStrings" This is occurring in myapp.exe.config but I can't figure out why. Runs perfectly everywhere else, only difference between this install and any other is the connection string. I've searched around, but can only find this issue relating to ASP.NET apps and issues in web.config. Any ideas what could be broken in the config of this WinForms app though? Is it indicating a problem further up in machine.config?   • Running multiple applications in STM32 flash

    Hey! I would like to have two applications in my STM32 flash, one is basically a boot and the other the 'main' application. I have figured out how to load each of them into different areas of flash, and after taking a memory dump everything looks like it is in the right place. So when I do a reset it loads the boot, all the boot does at the moment is jump to the application. Debugging the boot, this all appears to work correctly. However the problems arrives after i've made the jump to the application, it just executes one instruction (assembly) and then jumps back to the boot. It should stay in the application indefinitely. My question is then, where should I 'jump' to in the app? It seems that there are a few potential spots, such as the interrupt vectors, the reset handler, the main function of the app. Actually I've tried all of those with no success. Hopefully that makes sense, i'll update the question if not. thanks for your help! Richard Updates: I had a play around in the debugger and manually changed the program counter to the main of the application, and well that worked a charm, so it makes me think there is something wrong with my jump, why doesn't the program counter keep going after the jump? Actually it seems to be the PSR, the 'T' gets reset on the jump, if I set that again after the jump it continues on with the app as I desire Ok found a solution, seems that you need to have the PC LSB set to 1 when you do a branch or it falls into the 'ARM' mode (32 bit instruction instead of 16 bit instructions like in the 'thumb' mode. Quite an obscure little problem, thanks for letting me share it with you!

    fHi, I need to build an site with some portal like functionality where an param in the request will indentify the portal. like so http:/domain/controller/action/portal Now my problem is if an portal doesn't exists there must be an redirect to an other site/page and an user can login in to one portal but if the user comes to an other portal the user must be redirected back to the login page for that portal. I have something working now, but i feel like there must be an central place in the pipeline to handle this. My current solution uses an custom action filter which checks the portal param and sees if the portal exists and checks if the user logged on in that portal (the portal the user logged on for is in the authentication cookie). I make my own IIndentiy and IPrincipal in the application_postauthentication event. I have 2 problems with my current approach: 1: It's not really enforced, i have to add the attributes to all controllers and/or actions. 2: The isauthenticated on an user isn't really working, i would like that to work. But for that i need to have access to the params of the route when i create my IPrincipal/IIndenty and i can't seem to find an correct place to do that.     Hi, I have this countdown script wrapped as an object located in a separate file Then when I want to setup a counter, the timeout function in the countdown class can not find the object again that I have setup within the document ready. I sort of get that everything that is setup in the document ready is convined to that scope, however it is possible to call functions within other document ready´s. Does anyone has a solution on how I could setup multiple counters slash objects.   • How can I accelerate the generation of the an MD5 Checksum within vb.net?

    I'm working with some very large files residing on P2 (Panasonic) cards. Part of the process we employ is to first generate a checksum of the file we are going to copy, then copy the file, then run a checksum on the file to confirm that it copied OK. The problem is, is that files are large (70 GB+) and take a long time to complete. It's an issue since we will eventually be dealing with thousands of these files. I would like to find a faster way to generate the checksum other than using the System.Security.Cryptography.MD5CryptoServiceProvider I don't care if this means using a specialized hardware card, provided it works and is not to ungodly expensive. I would prefer to have a method of encoding that provided some feedback as to how far the process has gone along so I can display it like I do now. The application is written in vb.net. I would prefer to be able to use it as component, library, reference within my application, but I'm willing to call an outside application if there is enough improvement in the speed of generating the checksum.   • Can IBM IHS server support more than one Websphere Application Server plug-in location?

    We want http://webserver.com/foo to point to an instance of WAS 6.0, and http://webserver.com/foo2 to point to an instance of WAS 7.0, running on the same server, but with different port numbers. This is a temporary thing, as we need to have both servers running as we transition our applications from running on 6.0 to 7.0. The webserver is IBMIHS (an Apache variant), and it needs to use the WebSphere plugin to connect to the WAS servers. Will this work? Any drawbacks?

  • One host on a network can't connect to one other host

    I'm on a local network with a few other people. On of the hosts is a virtual machine running in virtualbox on a mac, which has the ip address 192.168.0.35 (the VM that is, not the mac host). Everyone except one guy can connect (ie ping, ssh etc) to that machine. When that one guy tries to ping it he gets Request timeout for icmp_seq 0 Request timeout for icmp_seq 1 Request timeout for icmp_seq 2 which i understand is just how certain mac os's report an unreachable connection. He can ping all the other hosts on the network, ie our computers, and we can all ping the VM fine and connect to it with no problems etc. His ip is 192.168.0.17. I ssh'd onto his machine (as a new user 'anon') and saw the same problems. I can ssh onto the 192.168.0.35 VM as well. From there, i can ping other users, but when i ping the problem guy, it's unreachable that way round as well. He restarted his mac, and was fine for a while. Then, just stopped working again. He's got a different IP to before. Any ideas, anyone? Don't know enough about this stuff to even diagnose the problem. thanks, max

    I am working with a decent sized spreadsheet of domains and server names. Another user of the spreadsheet needs the IP address for each of the DNS entries on the worksheet. Instead of manually adding and then having to maintain this list I was hoping there was an easy way to do an IPAddress lookup to display the IP address in a cell. I've seen some VBScripts that call gethostbyname, e.g.: Declare Function GetHostByName Lib "wsock32.dll" Alias "gethostbyname" (ByVal Host As String) As Long But I'm not a VB expert so I'm not sure if this is the right way to go. Any advice/links would be appreciated! also if this is a question better suited for Stack Overflow - let me know, I'm new here.

  • MMC crashes on Windows Server 2008 x64 - Exchange console, event viewer

    Help! I don't know what happened; this server has been very reliable but suddenly began having problems with a particular .NET 2.0 web site simply hanging - it wouldn't load at all. However, another ASP.NET site was still fine. Reinstalling the site didn't fix it, nor did deleting and re-creating the application within IIS. Trying the event viewer was met with a horrifying "Microsoft Management Console has stopped working". Some Googling led me to believe the .NET framework was the problem. I found a tool called the .NET cleanup tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx - which cleaned out .NET entirely. I reinstalled .NET 1.1 and 3.5 (which installed 2.0 and 3.0 as well). Using the .NET verification tool - http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8999004.aspx - I believe these have all installed ok. However, my server is in worse shape now. The Exchange 2010 Management Console crashes with an MMC error and now my other (previously reliable) .NET web app now hangs on loading too. I thought I should use Computer Management to remove and re-add the application and web server roles but sure enough, MMC crashes. If anyone can help I will be extremely grateful. Thank you !

  • How should I ask for help in getting my emails to stop bouncing?

    For several months, people have been telling me that emails they sent to me have been bouncing back, marked as undeliverable. The bounce message would contain portions like this: Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected] Action: failed Status: 5.7.1 Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 5.7.1 <[email protected]>... Recipient declines email from 69.64.159.2, <spamhaus-xbl>, Ref: http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=69.64.159.2 Clicking the link on the last line, the destination page told me that "this IP address is infected with/emitting spamware/spamtrojan traffic and needs to be fixed." I could temporarily de-list this node by clicking a link on that page, but it would get back on the list and more emails to me to bounce. I own a domain, innerpaths.net, and I normally use [email protected] for my email. I have my domain registrar, namecheap.com, forward all email from innerpaths.net to the email account [email protected]. (BTW, I had this same problem at a former registrar. I changed registrars, hoping that would fix the problem. It didn't.) Trying to isolate the problem, I asked namecheap.com what I should do. Their answer, though substantial, left me scratching my head: We have received feedback from our upstream provider which informed us that the mail server that you are trying to email subscribes to a 3rd party blacklist service which they appear to be listed on at the present time and is causing destination mail server to reject the messages. Being blocked with one of these services can happen to anyone for many reasons and is something that is beyond our control. 3rd party blacklist services require companies whose mail servers they have blacklisted, pay fees in order to be removed from their lists. As we cannot pay fees to blacklist services which require them for removal, you should contact your email provider and have them whitelist our mail server IP address: 69.64.157.73. My best guess is that I should email my ISP, sonic.net, tell them what is going on and ask them to whitelist the IP address 69.64.157.73. (If not, please let me know.) But I want to know what is going on and how email works. I understand that there's a device at location 69.64.159.2 that is doing something bad that causes the "destination mail server [sonic.net's, I assume --gw] to reject the messages." I know that email is sent through multiple devices in a way that eventually gets it to its destination. Beyond that, here are my questions: 1) I thought the Internet "routed around damage." Why does email starting at namecheap.com always (or is it 'sometimes'?) go through 69.64.159.2? 2) Who is the "upstream provider" that the namecheap.com representative mentions, and what is their role? 3) How does having sonic.net's whitelisting namecheap.com's mail server prevent my email being bounced by 69.64.159.2? I've searched the Internet for answers but have found nothing useful. Thanks for whatever answers you can provide.

  • logrotate isn't rotating a particular log file (and i think it should be)

    Hi all. For a particular app, i have log files in two places. One of the places has just one log file that i want to use with logrotate, for the other location i want to use logrotate on all log files in that folder. I've set up an entry called millionaire-staging in /etc/logrotate.d and have been testing it by calling logrotate -f millionaire-staging. Here's my entry: #/etc/logrotate.d/millionaire-staging compress rotate 1000 dateext missingok sharedscripts copytruncate /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/log/staging.log { weekly } /var/www/apps/test.millionaire/shared/log/*log { size 40M } So, for the first folder, i want to rotate weekly (this seems to have worked fine). For the other, i want to rotate only when the log files get bigger than 40 meg. Then, when i changed the config and ran it again, it won't do any more since it think's its already had its weekly run, or something. Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong? Is it to do with those top folders being owned by root rather than deploy do you think? thanks, max
