Besides, is the same entry format as all the other entries in the mail log. Whatever is left is dropped too: Dropped record (host localhost and 127.0.0.1 not qualified by SkipHosts): 2009-12-07 04:28:36 root root localhost 127.0.0.1 SMTP - 1 17152 I added SkipHosts="" to the .conf file but to no avail. I feel like awstats really has some personal quarrel with me today.

• correct way to prevent SPF failures

- by Sean Kimball
I have a website on a hosted server whose mail users are using their ISPs SMTP to send mail. I have set their SPF record to look like this: v=spf1 mx a:comcast.net ip4:216.70.103.0/24 ip4:216.70.101.0/24 ip4:76.96.53.0/24 -all the SMTP host is comcast.net, 76.96.53.0/24 is the ip range they get assigned from. ip4:216.70.103.0/24 ip4:216.70.101.0/24 are the two possible SMTP ranges they could get IF they used their hosting account mail servers They are still getting SPF errors, any idea why?

• PHP Mail() to Gmail = Spam

- by grantw
Recently Gmail has started marking emails sent directly from my server (using php mail()) as spam and I'm having problems trying to find the issue. If I send an exact copy of the same email from my email client it goes to the Gmail inbox. The emails are plain text, around 7 lines long and contain a URL link in plain text. As the emails sent from my client are getting through fine I'm thinking that the content isn't the issue. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could take a look at the the following headers and give me some advice why the email from the server is being marked as spam. Email from Server: Delivered-To: [email protected] Received: by 10.49.98.228 with SMTP id el4csp101784qeb; Thu, 15 Nov 2012 14:58:52 -0800 (PST) Received: by 10.60.27.166 with SMTP id u6mr2296595oeg.86.1353020331940; Thu, 15 Nov 2012 14:58:51 -0800 (PST) Return-Path: [email protected] Received: from dom.domainbrokerage.co.uk (dom.domainbrokerage.co.uk. • Relay Access Denied (State 13) Postfix + Dovecot + Mysql

- by Pierre Jeptha
So we have been scratching our heads for quite some time over this relay issue that has presented itself since we re-built our mail-server after a failed Webmin update. We are running Debian Karmic with postfix 2.6.5 and Dovecot 1.1.11, sourcing from a Mysql database and authenticating with SASL2 and PAM. Here are the symptoms of our problem: 1) When users are on our local network they can send and receive 100% perfectly fine. 2) When users are off our local network and try to send to domains not of this mail server (ie. gmail) they get the "Relay Access Denied" error. However users can send to domains of this mail server when off the local network fine. 3) We host several virtual domains on this mailserver, the primary domain being airnet.ca. The rest of our virtual domains (ex. jeptha.ca) cannot receive email from domains not hosted by this mailserver (ie. gmail and such cannot send to them). They receive bounce backs of "Relay Access Denied (State 13)". This is regardless of whether they are on our local network or not, which is why it is so urgent for us to get this solved. Here is our main.cf from postfix: myhostname = mail.airnet.ca mydomain = airnet.ca smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu) biff = no smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot queue_directory = /var/spool/postfix smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth smtpd_sender_restrictions = permit_mynetworks permit_sasl_authenticated smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes append_dot_mydomain = no readme_directory = no smtp_tls_security_level = may smtpd_tls_security_level = may smtp_tls_note_starttls_offer = yes smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem smtpd_tls_loglevel = 1 smtpd_tls_received_header = yes smtpd_tls_auth_only = no alias_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/alias.cf hash:/etc/aliases alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases mydestination = mail.airnet.ca, airnet.ca, localhost.$mydomain mailbox_command = procmail -a "$EXTENSION" mailbox_size_limit = 0 recipient_delimiter = + local_recipient_maps = $alias_maps $virtual_mailbox_maps proxy:unix:passwd.byname home_mailbox = /var/virtual/ mail_spool_directory = /var/spool/mail mailbox_transport = maildrop smtpd_helo_required = yes disable_vrfy_command = yes smtpd_etrn_restrictions = reject smtpd_data_restrictions = reject_unauth_pipelining, permit show_user_unknown_table_name = no proxy_read_maps = $local_recipient_maps $mydestination $virtual_alias_maps $virtual_alias_domains $virtual_mailbox_maps $virtual_mailbox_domains $relay_recipient_maps $relay_domains $canonical_maps $sender_canonical_maps $recipient_canonical_maps $relocated_maps $transport_maps $mynetworks $virtual_mailbox_limit_maps $virtual_uid_maps $virtual_gid_maps virtual_alias_domains = message_size_limit = 20971520 transport_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vdomain.cf virtual_mailbox_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vmailbox.cf virtual_alias_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/alias.cf hash:/etc/mailman/aliases virtual_uid_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vuid.cf virtual_gid_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vgid.cf virtual_mailbox_base = / virtual_mailbox_limit = 209715200 virtual_mailbox_extended = yes virtual_create_maildirsize = yes virtual_mailbox_limit_maps = proxy:mysql:/etc/postfix/mysql/vmlimit.cf virtual_mailbox_limit_override = yes virtual_mailbox_limit_inbox = no virtual_overquote_bounce = yes virtual_minimum_uid = 1 maximal_queue_lifetime = 1d bounce_queue_lifetime = 4h delay_warning_time = 1h append_dot_mydomain = no qmgr_message_active_limit = 500 broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth smtpd_sasl_local_domain = $myhostname smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header = yes smtp_bind_address = 142.46.193.6 relay_domains = $mydestination mynetworks = 127.0.0.0, 142.46.193.0/25 inet_interfaces = all inet_protocols = all And here is the master.cf from postfix: # ========================================================================== # service type private unpriv chroot wakeup maxproc command + args # (yes) (yes) (yes) (never) (100) # ========================================================================== smtp inet n - - - - smtpd #submission inet n - - - - smtpd # -o smtpd_tls_security_level=encrypt # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes # -o smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_sasl_authenticated,reject # -o milter_macro_daemon_name=ORIGINATING #smtps inet n - - - - smtpd # -o smtpd_tls_wrappermode=yes # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes # -o smtpd_client_restrictions=permit_sasl_authenticated,reject # -o milter_macro_daemon_name=ORIGINATING #628 inet n - - - - qmqpd pickup fifo n - - 60 1 pickup cleanup unix n - - - 0 cleanup qmgr fifo n - n 300 1 qmgr #qmgr fifo n - - 300 1 oqmgr tlsmgr unix - - - 1000? • Sending email using smpt (Gmail) from Hudson CI

- by jensendarren
How can I set up Hudson CI so that I can send out emails from the server following a build failure? At the moment all I get is the following error: com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first One solution is to start Hudson as follows: java -Dmail.smtp.starttls.enable="true" -jar /usr/share/hudson/hudson.war However, I am already using the following to start Hudson: sudo /etc/init.d/hudson start I am thinking the solution is to somehow set the system property mail.smtp.starttls.enable in a property file somewhere, but I have no idea how to do that. What are my options? Thank you all in advance!

• Single Exchange 2007 server - two AD domains

- by TheCleaner
CURRENT: single domain, single Exchange 2007 NEW: two domains, single Exchange 2007 Can this be done? Details: Current setup is a single W2k3 domain with a single Exchange 2007 server. We are merging with another company that currently hosts their email with their ISP via POP3. We'd like to start hosting their email on our Exchange server using their existing domain SMTP addresses. They don't have an AD domain at all at the moment. Recommendations? Can I do this with a trust between the 2 domains? Requirements: They can't have multiple SMTP addresses on both domains...such as I've seen with articles pointing to "hosting multiple domains". I want companyA to have the same account settings they've always had...companyB to have the same SMTP address they've had and not an additional one on the current companyA Exchange domain. They should be able to collaborate (calendar, contacts, GALs) but should still be distinguishable based on which company they "work for". Please help...thanks!

• postfix, TLS and rapidssl - "verify error:num=19:unable to get local issuer certificate"

- by technobuddha
I have been googeling for days! I have a cert from rapidssl. I read up that the problem with num=20, is that indicates it doesn't know the issuer, or doesn't know the ROOT Cert, right? I run this command: openssl s_client -showcerts -connect smtp.server.com:465 I get this error: verify error:num=19:self signed certificate in certificate chain Here is what i have in my postfix main.cf, and what i have done: smtpd_tls_key_file = /etc/postfix/ssl/smtp.server.com.rsa.key (this is the private key) smtpd_tls_cert_file = /etc/postfix/ssl/smtp.server.com.PUBLIC.key (this is the public key given to me by rapidssl) smtpd_tls_CAfile = /etc/postfix/ssl/combo.csr.key This key has both the intermediate keys ON TOP, and the ROOT KEY on the bottom. Here is the Intermediate keys: https://knowledge.geotrust.com/library/VERISIGN/ALL_OTHER/geotrust%20ca/GT_QuickSSL_and_Premium_and_Trial_intermediate_bundle.pem and here is the root CERT: http://www.geotrust.com/resources/root_certificates/certificates/Equifax_Secure_Certificate_Authority.cer anyone know how to use rapidssl certs?

• Windows Server 2003/Exchange 2007: How to setup public domain mail.foo.com to route to internal exch

- by ryan.keeter
Good day, I have an internal Exchange Server 2007 and a Windows Server 2003 domain. At this point in time I have an external DNS setup (DynDNS 29.95 service) to resolve foo.com to my singular public IP address then it gets routed to external facing site. I would like to know how to setup POP on mail.foo.com and SMTP on smtp.foo.com, and more importantly, what needs to be setup in Exchange server to allow for this to happen. My end state is to send email through smtp.foo.com and receive mail on mail.foo.com. As of now, when I create a user within Exchange the default email address is [email protected], and I would like it to be [email protected]. Thank you and I appreciate the help as I am a .NET developer trying to do sys admin work, and it is MUCH harder than I have ever imagined, my hat is off to all sys admins and IT pros.

• Exchange 2010 Prevent Authenticated Users From Sending Email From Any Address

- by Chance
I have recently been combating an SMTP AUTH attack in which one of my email accounts had been compromised and was being used to solicit spam. I have been able to identify the account and change the password however I would like to further restrict my exchange server. By default exchange 2010 allows for any authenticated user to specify any email address as the MAIL FROM address and it will accept it. Is there any way to restrict this so that only the authenticated account's email address will be able to be used as the MAIL FROM address? I have been looking through all ADPermissions for the SMTP connector however I can't find any documentation on how to accomplish this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. • Stumped by "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden" with WCF Service in https

- by RJ
I have a WCF Service that I have boiled down to next to nothing because of this error. It is driving me up the wall. Here's what I have now. A very simple WCF service with one method that returns a string with the value, "test". A very simple Web app that uses the service and puts the value of the string into a label. A web server running IIS 6 on Win 2003 with a SSL certificate. Other WCF services on the same server that work. I publish the WCF service to it's https location I run the web app in debug mode in VS and it works perfectly. I publish the web app to it's https location on the same server the WCF service resides under the same SSL certificate I get, "The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden" I have changed almost every setting in IIS as well as the WCF and Web apps to no avail. I have compared setting in the WCF services that work and everything is the same. Below are the setting in the web.config for the WCF Service and the WEB app: It appears the problem has to do with the Web app but I am out of ideas. • Fun with Database Mail

- by DavidWimbush
I just had some fun with a new server I set up. I configured Database Mail but it wouldn't send mail. In the Database Log was an error message I've never had before: The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2010-02-15T16:58:54). Exception Message: Could not connect to mail server. (A non-recoverable error occurred during a database lookup). ) I looked around and found this forum thread: http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=139909. I looked into the anti-virus software and firewall but neither of those helped. Then I noticed the last post where they original poster said "oops, I put an @ in the name of the SMTP server". How I laughed. What a ***! At least my problem isn't because I did something that careless. But then that little voice in my head said "Better check, just to be on the safe side". SMTP Server Name: smtp@domain. Who's the *** now? So, rbarlow, thanks very much for making the same silly mistake first so I could find the answer. (And I'm sorry for thinking you were a ***!)

• Bash script throws, "syntax error near unexpected token `}'" when ran

- by Tab00
I am trying to write a script to monitor some battery statuses on a laptop running as a server. To accomplish this, I have already started to write this code: #! /bin/bash # A script to monitor battery statuses and send out email notifications #take care of looping the script for (( ; ; )) do #First, we check to see if the battery is present... if(cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state | grep 'present: *' == present: yes) { #Code to execute if battery IS present #No script needed for our application #you may add scripts to run } else { #if the battery IS NOT present, run this code sendemail -f [email protected] -t 214*******@txt.att.net -u NTA TV Alert -m "The battery from the computer is either missing, or removed. Please check ASAP." -s smtp.gmail.com -o tls=yes -xu [email protected] -xp *********** } #Second, we check into the current state of the battery if(cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state | grep 'charging state: *' == 'charging state: charging') { #Code to execute if battery is charging sendemail -f [email protected] -t 214*******@txt.att.net -u NTA TV Alert -m "The battery from the computer is charging. This MIGHT mean that something just happened" -s smtp.gmail.com -o tls=yes -xu [email protected] -xp *********** } #If it isn't charging, is it discharging? else if(cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state | grep 'charging state: *' == 'charging state: discharging') { #Code to run if the battery is discharging sendemail -f [email protected] -t 214*******@txt.att.net -u NTA TV Alert -m "The battery from the computer is discharging. This shouldn't be happening. Please check ASAP." -s smtp.gmail.com -o tls=yes -xu [email protected] -xp *********** } #If it isn't charging or discharging, is it charged? else if(cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state | grep 'charging state: *' == 'charging state: charged') { #Code to run if battery is charged } done I'm pretty sure that most of the other stuff works correctly, but I haven't been able to try it because it will not run. whenever I try and run the script, this is the error that I get: ./BatMon.sh: line 15: syntax error near unexpected token `}' ./BatMon.sh: ` }' is the error something super simple like a forgotten semicolon? Thanks -Tab00

• How should I safely send bulk mail? [closed]

- by Jerry Dodge
First of all, we have a large software system we've developed and have a number of clients using it in their own environment. Each of them is responsible for using their own equipment and resources, we don't provide any services to share with them. We have introduced an automated email system which sends emails automatically via SMTP. Usually, it only sends around 10-20 emails a day, but it's very possible to send bulk email up to thousands of people in a single day. This of course requires a big haul of work, which isn't necessarily the problem. The issue arises when it comes to the SMTP server we're using. An email server is issued a number of relays a day, which is paid for. This isn't really necessarily the issue either. The risk is getting the email server blacklisted. It's inevitable, and we need to carefully take all this into consideration. As far as I can see, the ideal setup would be to have at least 50 IP addresses on multiple servers, each of which hosts its own SMTP server. When sending bulk email, it will divide them up across these servers, and each one will process its own queue. If one of those IP's gets blacklisted, it will be decommissioned and a new IP will replace it. Is there a better way that doesn't require us to invest in a large handful of servers? Perhaps a third party service which is meant exactly for this?

• CloudMail

- by kaleidoscope
In Web Applications, we often come across requirement of sending and receiving emails through our application. So same can be for the applications hosted on Azure. So Do you want to send email from an application hosted on Azure? CloudMail is one of the possible answers. CloudMail is designed to provide a small, effective and reliable solution for sending email from the Azure platform directly addressing several problems that application developers face. Microsoft does not provide an SMTP Gateway (yet) so the application is forced to connect directly to one hosted somewhere else, on another network. So to implement such functionality one of the possible option is using Free email providers. This might be fine for testing, but do you really want to rely on a free service in production? There can be other issues with this approach like if your chosen SMTP gateway is down or there are connection problems? Again there can be some specific requirement that, you want to send email via a company’s mail server, from inside their firewall. CloudMail solves these problems by providing a small client library that you can use in your solution to send emails from you application and a Windows Service that you run inside your companies network that acts as a relay. Because the send and relay are disconnected there are no lost emails and you can send from your own SMTP Gateway.   CloudMail is in its Beta version and available for download here.   Technorati Tags: Geeta,Azure Email,CloudMail

• Add Your Gmail Account to Outlook 2010 Using IMAP

- by Mysticgeek
If you’re upgrading from Outlook 2003 to 2010, you might want to use IMAP with your Gmail account to synchronize mail across multiple machines. Using our guide, you will be able to start using it in no time. Enable IMAP in Gmail First log into your Gmail account and open the Settings panel. Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab and verify IMAP is enabled and save changes. Next open Outlook 2010, click on the File tab to access the Backstage view. Click on Account Settings and Add and remove accounts or change existing connection settings. In the Account Settings window click on the New button. Enter in your name, email address, and password twice then click Next. Outlook will configure the email server settings, the amount of time it takes will vary. Provided everything goes correctly, the configuration will be successful and you can begin using your account. Manually Configure IMAP Settings If the above instructions don’t work, then we’ll need to manually configure the settings. Again, go into Auto Account Setup and select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.   Select Internet E-mail – Connect to POP or IMAP server to send and receive e-mail messages. Now we need to manually enter in our settings similar to the following. Under the Server Information section verify the following. Account Type: IMAP Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com Note: If you have a Google Apps account make sure to put the full email address ([email protected]) in the Your Name and User Name fields. Note: If you live outside of the US you might need to use imap.googlemail.com and smtp.googlemail.com Next, we need to click on the More Settings button… In the Internet E-mail Settings screen that pops up, click on the Outgoing Server tab, and check the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Also select the radio button next to Use same settings as my incoming mail server. In the same window click on the Advanced tab and verify the following. Incoming server: 993 Incoming server encrypted connection: SSL Outgoing server encrypted connection TLS Outgoing server: 587 Note: You will need to change the Outgoing server encrypted connection first, otherwise it will default back to port 25. Also, if TLS doesn’t work, we were able to successfully use Auto. Click OK when finished. Now we want to test the settings, before continuing on…it’s just easier that way incase something was entered incorrectly. To make sure the settings are tested, check the box Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button. If you’ve entered everything in correctly, both tasks will be completed successfully and you can close out of the window. and begin using your account via Outlook 2010. You’ll get a final congratulations message you can close out of… And begin using your account via Outlook 2010. Conclusion Using IMAP allows you to synchronize email across multiple machines and devices. The IMAP feature in Gmail is free to use, and this should get you started using it with Outlook 2010. • How did my email end up in spam? Spam only filters this specific email, other email contents work

- by mugetsu
My website has users buy our products and when the purchase completes, it sends the user an email. However, this email always ends up in spam! When the user first registers, the site also sends an email, this email however is not filtered and goes into the normal inbox. I'm not quite sure why this is so, gmail vaguely tells me that " It's similar to messages that were detected by our spam filters." So I'm thinking that I need to reword the following email better. • How to Add Your Gmail Account to Outlook 2013 Using IMAP

- by Lori Kaufman
If you use Outlook to check and manage your email, you can easily use it to check your Gmail account as well. You can setup your Gmail account to allow you to synchronize email across multiple machines using email clients instead of a browser. We will show you how to use IMAP in your Gmail account so you can synchronize your Gmail account across multiple machines, and then how to add your Gmail account to Outlook 2013. To setup your Gmail account to use IMAP, sign in to your Gmail account and go to Mail. Click the Settings button in the upper, right corner of the window and select Settings from the drop-down menu. On the Settings screen, click Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Scroll down to the IMAP Access section and select Enable IMAP. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen. Close your browser and open Outlook. To begin adding your Gmail account, click the File tab. On the Account Information screen, click Add Account. On the Add Account dialog box, you can choose the E-mail Account option which automatically sets up your Gmail account in Outlook. To do this enter your name, email address, and the password for your Gmail account twice. Click Next. The progress of the setup displays. The automatic process may or may not work. If the automatic process fails, select Manual setup or additional server types, instead of E-mail Account, and click Next. On the Choose Service screen, select POP or IMAP and click Next. On the POP and IMAP Account Settings enter the User, Server, and Logon Information. For the Server Information, select IMAP from the Account Type drop-down list and enter the following for the incoming and outgoing server information: Incoming mail server: imap.googlemail.com Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.googlemail.com Make sure you enter your full email address for the User Name and select Remember password if you want Outlook to automatically log you in when checking email. Click More Settings. On the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box, click the Outgoing Server tab. Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and make sure the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option is selected. While still in the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box, click the Advanced tab. Enter the following information: Incoming server: 993 Incoming server encrypted connection: SSL Outgoing server encrypted connection TLS Outgoing server: 587 NOTE: You need to select the type of encrypted connection for the outgoing server before entering 587 for the Outgoing server (SMTP) port number. If you enter the port number first, the port number will revert back to port 25 when you change the type of encrypted connection. Click OK to accept your changes and close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box. Click Next. Outlook tests the accounts settings by logging into the incoming mail server and sending a test email message. When the test is finished, click Close. You should see a screen saying “You’re all set!”. Click Finish. Your Gmail address displays in the account list on the left with any other email addresses you have added to Outlook. Click the Inbox to see what’s in your Inbox in your Gmail account. Because you’re using IMAP in your Gmail account and you used IMAP to add the account to Outlook, the messages and folders in Outlook reflect what’s in your Gmail account. Any changes you make to folders and any time you move email messages among folders in Outlook, the same changes are made in your Gmail account, as you will see when you log into your Gmail account in a browser. This works the other way as well. Any changes you make to the structure of your account (folders, etc.) in a browser will be reflected the next time you log into your Gmail account in Outlook.

• Connection Timed Out - Simple outbound Postfix for PHP Contact form

- by BLaZuRE
Alright, so I only got Postfix for a PHP contact form that will send email to a single . I only want it to send out mail to a single external address ([email protected]). I have domain sub1.sub2.domain.com. I installed Postfix out of the Ubuntu repo, with minimal config changes. I cannot get Postfix to send mail externally (though it succeeds for internal accounts, which is unnecessary). The email simply defers if I generate an email using PHP mail(). If I try to form my own in telnet, right after rcpt to: [email protected], I get a postfix/smtpd[31606]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from localhost[127.0.0.1]: 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>: Recipient address rejected: example.com; from=<root@localhost> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<localhost> when commenting out default_transport = error and relay_transport = error lines, I get the following: Jun 26 14:33:00 sub1 postfix/smtp[12191]: 2DA06F88206A: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=514, delays=409/0.01/105/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to aspmx3.googlemail.com[74.125.127.27]:25: Connection timed out) Jun 26 14:36:36 sub1 postfix/smtp[12225]: connect to mta7.am0.yahoodns.net[98.139.175.224]:25: Connection timed out Jun 26 14:38:00 sub1 postfix/smtp[12225]: 22952F88208E: to=<[email protected]>, relay=none, delay=655, delays=550/0.01/105/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to mta5.am0.yahoodns.net[67.195.168.230]:25: Connection timed out) My main.cf # See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version # Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first # line of that file to be used as the name.
