  • Problems to boot, Ubuntu entry does not work anymore

    A few months I decided to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my PC alongside with my Windows 7 partition. In order to do that and avoid any mistake, I followed these steps: http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2012/05/17/how-to-dual-boot-ubuntu-12-04-and-windows-7/2/ Everything was going well until I decided to update to the 12.10 realese. I don't know what happened, but after I updated my Ubuntu, it stoped working, it didn't even launched, when I turned on my pc and choose to run "Ubuntu 12.04" on the Grub Screen, a weird messaged appeared. Well, so I decided to install the Ubuntu 12.10 and forget about the 12.04 partition, no problem. I erased the partitions used for the Ubuntu 12.04 with EaseUS partition Manager. However, when I start my PC, there is still the option of "Ubuntu 12.04" to chose, is that bad? And what about now, can I use the Windows Installer of Ubuntu ( http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/install-ubuntu-with-windows ) to install the Ubuntu 12.10 ? What should I do to have Ubuntu 12.10 and Windows 7 in dual boot again? Thanks; Thales.

    Possible Duplicate: How should I handle search engines auto-correcting the spelling of a site's name? My domain name is radiuus.com. Since the correct spelling of the word is with one u, when I search for "radiuus" on google it thinks I'm misspelling the word, kindly lets me know, and returns results for "radius". Example: https://www.google.com/search?q=radiuus&oq=radiuus&sugexp=chrome,mod=2&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 What can I do to prevent this?     When i try to run something with wine, nothing happens! i have many problems with ubuntu so i have tried to get windows 8 back on the computer, but because ubuntu cant run exe files i cant open the installer. evenmore my computer cant boot from a CD/DVD anymore after i installed ubuntu, i turns op with a black screen with a blinking marker at the upper left corner of the screen and after 10 minutes it says something like " cant boot from the selected mediadevice - select another" so how to get windows back?

    this is the 1st time to write here and the 1st time to use a mail client other than outlook. I tried to add my enterprise email address to evolution mail, I tried both server types exchange mapi and microsoft exchange. With exchange mapi i get this error message "Authentication failed. MapiLogonProvider: Failed to login into the server" With Microsoft Exchange I get this error "Could not connect to server . Make sure the URL is correct and try again." Although I'm sure of all the steps Server: ip address of the mail server Username: Domainname\Username Domain: domain name My system is Ubuntu Release 11.04 (natty) Kernel Linux 2.6.38-15-generic Genome 2.32.1 Evolution 2.32.2 Any kind of help is appreciated and thanks in advance

  • USB keyboard hit and miss as to whether it will work on boot-up

    I am new to Ubuntu. Have installed 12.04 on a slave drive while I migrate. Usually booting into Ubuntu goes without a hitch but recently I often find I am unable to use the keyboard, and log-in using the on-screen KB. Sometimes if I remove the USB jack & re-connect it will start working again but not always. I do have an old PS/2 KB which I am using at the moment but.......has anyone any ideas on how to get the USB KB reliably connected? Thanks Dave

    I downloaded this code sample and integrated it into my game http://xbox.create.msdn.com/en-US/education/catalog/sample/mesh_instancing It works with the model that they supplied, but throws and exception whenever I use one of my models. The current vertex declaration does not include all the elements required by the current vertex shader. TextureCoordinate0 is missing. I tried pluging my model into their original source code and same thing. My model is an fbx from blender and has a texture. This is the function that throws the error GraphicsDevice.DrawInstancedPrimitives( PrimitiveType.TriangleList, 0, 0, meshPart.NumVertices, meshPart.StartIndex, meshPart.PrimitiveCount, instances.Length );

    This is my code.... it speaks for itself. <?php define("html","<html>"); define("htmlEnd","</html>"); etc... etc... ?> What i'm trying to do is make a wrapper for html's tags so they won't be needed anymore. But i can't get any of the attributes for html elements to be defined in php. This again speaks for itself... i don't know any other way of saying this... i guess how would i make a other mark up language like html without any tags but still keep everything about html is what i'm trying to say.....

I have a ground with a texture and now I want to make a surrounding texture. The texture is an image wich should be bend around the ground. At the moment im using easelJS for display my images/textures. So im looking for some sort of Tutorial/Script/Advice. Im not even sure if I can bend a image in javascript. So the worst case I can think of is split the image in 100 pieces and then put it back together and rotate each piece. for example like this:

    I´m working on the design of a new game concept at the moment and I would like to know how to handle a customization of sprites. (In 2D that is, hence the topic.) This is my scenario: The player will have a tower containing 3 floors (or more). Each floor can be replaced by another "piece", i.e. a blue floor, a fire floor, a stone floor. With the little knowledge of game development I have, creating a sprite for each possible combination is probably not a good idea, since the size of the game file will be HUGE. So, how does developers solve this? Do you put a standard position and just replace the sprite itself? Any advice or information about this would be great. Regards.

    I am a beginner in OpenGL and tried to write my first program to draw some points and a line. I can see that the window opens with white background but no line is drawn. I was expecting to see red colored (because glColor3f(1.0, 0.0, 0.0);) dots (pixels) and line. But nothing is seen.   • Hadoop:Only master node does the work

    I've setup a Hadoop 2.2 cluster with 1 master node(namenode and secondary namenode) and 3 slave nodes(datanode and namenode on each one).All of the machines use Linux Mint 64bit. When I run my MapReduce program, writen in Java, I can only see that master node is using extra CPU and RAM. Slave nodes are not doing a thing. I've checked the logs from all of the namenodes and there is nothing wrong with the namenodes on slave nodes. Resource Manager is running and all of the slave nodes can see the Resource Manager. I used this http://n0where.net/hadoop-2-2-multi-node-cluster-setup/ tutorial to configure my nodes. Datanodes are working in terms of distributed data storing but I can't see any indication of distributed data processing. Do I have to configure the xml configuration files in some other way so all of the machines will process data while I'm running my MapReduce Job?

I recently realized that the "portable" version of MinGW I was using off my USB drive was actually interfering with a locally installed version of MinGW, so sometimes even the tools you think are portable, aren't. So what are the best portable development tools that you've used? What runs well on a portable media, leaves the host machine clean, and generally makes moving around easier for you?
