• Group traffic shaping with traffic control?

  I'm trying to limit the output bandwidth generated by an application with linux tc. This application sends me the source port of the request that I use has a filter to limit each user at a given downloadspeed. I feel that my setup could be managed way better if I had a better knowledge of linux tc. At the application level users are categorized as members of a group, each group have a limited bandwidth. Example : Members of group A : 512kbit/s Members of group B : 1Mbit/s Members of group C : 2Mbit/s When a user connects to the application, it retrieves the source port to the origin of the request from the user and sends me the source port and the bandwidth at which the user must be limited depending on group to which it belongs. With these informations I must add the appropriate rules so that the user (the source port in reality) is limited to the right bandwidth. If the user that connect isn't a member of any group it should be limited at a default bandwidth speed. I'm actually managing this by using a self made daemon that add or remove rules from when it receive a request from the application. With my little knowledge of tc I'm not able to limit other users (ones that aren't in a group, all others in fact) at a default speed and my configuration seems awful to me. I would like to know how to manage the fact that for all other users (request/source port, whatever you name it) could be limited at a given speed each. I mean that each connection should be able to use at max 100kbit/s for example, not a shared 100kbit/s. I also would like to know if there is a way to simplify my rules. I don't know if it is possible to use only one class per group and associate multiple filters to the same class so each users could be handled by one class and not one class per user. • Should UNIX users have the same group

  I have a web server (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS if needed) multiple people use with Apache, PHP5, and MySQL installed. All users have access to SSH. All users home directory's are /home/USER I was wondering: What usergroup should users be in; or should they have their own usergroups()? What user and group should Apache run under? What file permissions should the users /home/USER/public_html and /home/USER directory's be, as well as subsequent files (including such PHP files w/ sensitive information such as DB passwords) Thanks :)

• SSHFS on startup CentOS 6.3

  I edited the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local and added the following lines in order to mount a remote directory through sshfs at boot time: su user -c "/usr/bin/sshfs -o idmap=user -o reconnect -o allow_other -o uid=500 -o gid=500 user@remote:/home/shares/allusers /home/user/mnt" The problem is that is not mounting the directory on startup but when I execute this command manually after logging in everything works as expected an the directory is mounted. Any suggestions?

• Use Match in sshd_config to detect SCP connection

  I use the following directive in sshd_config to detect if the user trying to login to a server is called developer, and issue a bash script to the user if that is the case: Match User developer ForceCommand /bin/dev_login However, when the user tries to upload a file using SCP, they can't, as the dev_login script is interrupting the process. Is it possible to use the Match directive to detect if the connection is SCP rather than a request to open a shell?

  Hi, I would like to set up Exchange so that when a user (e.g. [email protected]) sends an email to somedomain.com Exchange makes the email appear to have come from [email protected]. This would have to be done on a per-domain basis, and invisibly to the user. So all emails come from [email protected], except emails to somedomain.com, which appear to come from [email protected]. • Dependency Walker reports IESHIMS.DLL and WER.DLL missing?

  On a Windows XP Professional SP3 with Internet Explorer 8 box, when I run Dependency Walker on an executable of mine it reports that: IESHIMS.DLL and WER.DLL can't be found. Do I need these DLL's? Where can I get them? I believe they are supposed to located in C:\Windows\System32\Wer.dll and C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Ieshims.dll

  Hello, Recently our network was moved to the corporate network and behind the company firewall. Since the i could not access the FTP Servers using Filezilla. I can connect to them but cannot receive the directory listing. Command: MLSD Response: 500 Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing I can access the server using other softwares ( GnomeCommander ) but i would like to use Filezilla for its advanced features. I tried active and pasive mode but that doesnt work. I trace the problem to the MSLD command. I think if i could make filezilla use LIST command it will work. Any ideeas. Thanks.

• Best Method to SFTP or FTPS Files via SSIS

  What is the best method using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) to upload a file to either a remote SFTP (secure FTP with SSH2 protocal) or FTPS (FTP over SSL) site? I've used the following methods, but each has short-comings I would like to avoid: COZYROC LIBRARY Method: Install the CozyRoc library on each development and production server and use the SFTP task to upload the files. Pros: Easy to use. It looks, smells, and feels like a normal SSIS task. SSIS also recognizes the password as sensitive information and allows you all the normal options for protecting the sensitive information instead of just storing it in clear text in a non-secure manner. Works well with other SSIS tasks such as ForEach Loop Containers. Errors out when uploads and downloads fail. Works well when you don't know the names of the files on the remote FTP site to download or when you won't know the name of the file to upload until run-time. Cons: Costs money to license in a production environment. Makes you dependent upon the vendor to update their libraries between each version. Although they already have a 2008 version, this caused me a problem during the CTP's of 2008. Requires installing the libraries on each development and production machine. COMMAND LINE SFTP PROGRAM Method: Install a free command-line SFTP application such as Putty and execute it either by running a batch file or operating system process task. Pros: Free, free, and free. You can be sure it is secure if you are using Putty since numerous GUI FTP clients appear to use Putty under the covers. You DEFINATELY know you are using SSH2 and not SSH. Cons: The two command-line utilities I tried (Putty and Cygwin) required storing the SFTP password in a non-secure location. I haven't found a good way to capture failures or errors when uploading files. The process doesn't look and smell like SSIS. Most of the code is encapsulated in text files instead of SSIS itself. Difficult to use if you don't know the exact name of the file you are uploading or downloading. A 3RD PARTY C# or VB.NET LIBRARY Method: Install a SFTP or FTPS library and use a Script Task that references the library to upload the files. (I've never tried this, so I'm going to guess at the pros and cons) Pros: Probably easy to capture errors. Should work well with variables, so it would probably be easy to use even when you don't know the exact name of the file you are uploading or downloading. Cons: It's a script task combined with .NET libraries. If you are using SSIS, then you probably are more comfortable with SSIS tasks then .NET code. Script tasks are also difficult to troubleshoot since they don't have the same debugging tools and features as regular .NET projects. Creates a dependency on 3rd party code that may not work between different versions of SQL Server. To be fair, it is probably MORE likely to work between different versions of SQL Server than a 3rd party SSIS task library. Another huge con -- I haven't found a free C# or VB.NET library that does this as of yet. So if anyone knows of one, then please let me know!

• DirectoryServicesCOMException when working with System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement

  I'm attempting to determine whether a user is a member of a given group using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagment. I'm doing this inside a SharePoint WebPart in SharePoint 2007 on a 64-bit system. Project targets .NET 3.5 Impersonation is enabled in the web.config. The IIS Site in question is using an IIS App Pool with a domain user configured as the identity. I am able to instantiate a PrincipalContext as such: PrincipalContext pc = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain) Next, I try to grab a principal: using (PrincipalContext pc = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain)) { GroupPrincipal group = GroupPrincipal.FindByIdentity(pc, "MYDOMAIN\somegroup"); // snip: exception thrown by line above. } Both the above and UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity with a user SAM throw a DirectoryServicesCOMException: "Logon failure: Unknown user name or bad password" I've tried passing in a complete SAMAccountName to either FindByIdentity (in the form of MYDOMAIN\username) or just the username with no change in behavior. I've tried executing the code with other credentials using both the HostingEnvironment.Impersonate and SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges approaches and also experience the same result. I've also tried instantiating my context with the domain name in place: Principal Context pc = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, "MYDOMAIN"); This throws a PrincipalServerDownException: "The server could not be contacted." I'm working on a reasonably hardened server. I did not lock the system down so I am unsure exactly what has been done to it. If there are credentials I need to allocate to my pool identity's user or in the domain security policy in order for these to work, I can configure the domain accordingly. Are there any settings that would be preventing my code from running? Am I missing something in the code itself? Is this just not possible in a SharePoint web? EDIT: Given further testing, my code functions correctly when tested in a Console application targeting .NET 4.0. This is annoying when windows answers the phone before I even hear an audible ring and the hapless caller is saying, "hello. hello" on top of music I have playing. Does anyone know how to tell Windows not to answer the call? I want to be able to don my headset, switch audio to my headset, THEN manually answer the call.

  Hi All! I'm planning to develop program in Java which will provide diagnosis. The data set is divided into two parts one for training and the other for testing. My program should learn to classify from the training data (BTW which contain answer for 30 questions each in new column, each record in new line the last column will be diagnosis 0 or 1, in the testing part of data diagnosis column will be empty - data set contain about 1000 records) and then make predictions in testing part of data :/ I've never done anything similar so I'll appreciate any advice or information about solution to similar problem. I was thinking about Java Machine Learning Library or Java Data Mining Package but I'm not sure if it's right direction... ? and I'm still not sure how to tackle this challenge... Please advise. • Mac OS X bypass proxy for certain domains

  In college I'm behind a proxy. When I try to visit one of my local Apache virtual hosts behind the proxy, then my college DNS attempts to resolve the host, thus bypassing my local host file. In the advanced setting for proxies you seem to be able to enter values into "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains". I added the last 2 to the end - "*.local, 169.254/16, *.dev, *.sb". But it doesn't work. Is there a solution?

• django modelformset - one form per related table row

  Hello, I have two models: class Model1(): name = CharField() url = CharField() class Model2(): model1 = ForeignKey(Model1) user = ForeignKey(User) zzz = CharField() There are 5 rows for model1 in the database, these are fixed and will rarely change. I need to display a formset for model2 that allows users to enter the zzz value, the formset must always show one form per row in the model1 table, the label for each form in the formset must be the name of the related model1. If the user deletes a model2 in the formset the next time the page loads it will render an empty zzz value for that form and the user must be able to edit the previous zzz value - meaning it must be pre populated with all model2 rows associated with the user. The idea is to print each row in the model1 table as a form instead of the user selecting the related model1 name in a select box. I know its not that complicated, but I'm seriously stumped and keep going round in circles!! Many thanks in advance. • VLC without border/window decoration in Windows

  I'm trying to run VLC (2.1, 64 bit) without any chrome on Windows 7. You can achieve it by going to Preferences, and in the Interface tab, unchecking Integrate video in interface, and also in the Video tab, unchecking Window decorations. The problem lies in the fact that without Window decorations there is no apparent way to move or resize the video window - in GOM player, for example, you can move window by dragging on the video itself; is there an option for this in VLC? Ideally, I would like to move the window by the method described above (by dragging the video), and would like the Window decorations to reappear on mouseover, to allow resizing; I'm a new VLC user, but unsure how far the customisation goes. - I'd settle with just the moving of the window via dragging the video if this is possible by advanced setting. There is a similar question here, but not exactly, and no solution to that particular question.

  Hi, Is there any way to choose something other than than 1024x600 or 800x600 resolution on a Acer Aspire One D250 netbook (Windows 7 Starter). A program we use needs at least 1024x768 but it's not available under Screen resolution (some UI elements of said program are otherwise hidden "below" the visible screenspace and unfortunately the app window is not resizable) On a D250 with Windows XP it was possible to go to Advanced settins - Monitor and uncheck "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display". Then I was able to select the desired resolution and scroll up and down the screen with the mouse. In Windows 7 this "Hide modes..." checkbox is gray and not clickable :( Thanks

I know that if my host were a GNU/Linux machine it would be as easy as ssh -X . I'm ussing PuTTy to connect by SSH to the VM, I tried enabling X11 forward option in PuTTy config, but nothing happened. Have you ever done this? I'm quite advanced with GNU/Linux, but a newbie with this toy of Winbug$ 7.

I get following message: cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types It seems it is my nvarchar(max) that creates my problem. I changed to varchar(max); but still the same problem. How do I insert my flate file into my SQL Server 2005? And in the SQL Server 2005 import and export wizard the flate file source advanced tab the OutputColumnWith is 50. Will that say my flate file column is max 50?   I'm using an English Windows 7 with speech recognition working fine if I'm dictating in English. I would like to dictate a letter in German. I don't need further features that let you use your computer without a mouse, I want to dictate my letter. If I just start speaking German the Windows speech recognition software just gives me English gibberish. When I set the Speech Recognition to "German" in the Speech Properties dialog, I get the error message: Speech Recognition could not start because the language configuration is not supported. The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the Speech Recognition control panel under Advanced Options. This error message doesn't help me, because it tells me that I either need to change my system language or the language I want to dictate. But that's not what I want. How can I dictate in German on my PC with the English version of Windows 7?

  Whenever I turn on (or plug in) the Zalman ZM-VE400 I have, it shows HDD Warning???. Sometimes briefly, sometimes until the Menu button is pressed. The case contains a SSD drive and as far as I understand the warning relates to the S.M.A.R.T. status of which this drive doesn't support all parts. How can I reset the warning so I don't receive it every time when turning on the drive?   When I go to create a new message in Outlook 2007, and I start typing the first few characters of a contact's name, no suggestions appear. I've just added all my contacts from a .csv file that was exported from Yahoo! Mail. If I type the name out, then click 'send', then it will ask me which of the contact's emails to send it to if the contact has multiple addresses. I've looked in the advanced options to make sure AutoComplete is on, which it its. What is going on? Thanks!
