  We've been using Seagate Info Desktop 7.5 for a while and it stopped working after 31 Dec 2010. After a lot searching on the web, we found out from the SAP threads that a particular dll file(ciweb.dll) had this line of code "expires= Friday,31-Dec-2010 00:00:00 GMT",and this was causing the problem. The solution to the problem was to hexedit this dll file by changing the date to a later date. I have got no experience in hex editing a file. Would some please advise me with steps to do it? Thank You

• Storing a file in the user's directory in cross-platform Java

  I have a Java application that runs on Mac and Windows, directly off a CD/DVD with no installation. Now, I need to store a file containing per-user data (think favourites etc.) somewhere on the local file system, so that it can be written to. So, where do you think is a good location for this file? I am thinking something like: <USER_DOCUMENTS_AND_SETTINGS>/application data/myapp/favourites.db for windows <USER_HOME_DIR>/.myapp/favourites.db for mac/nix Thoughts? And does anyone know the best way to determine these paths within Java?

  I'm a newbie to the SVG world, just started experimenting today. I'm trying to create a mobile site where the primary graphics are all scalable, thus supporting all display resolutions. I created an svg file for my input (currently type="image"), and suprisingly the results are as expected in my code editor (Coda). In testing (mobile Safari, DT Safari and DT FF), the input displays broken image path placeholder (the oath is correct because I can right-click to download the file).   I have a legacy application that looks for files in a directory. It does not handle missing files very well. What I want to do is "capture" the file not found errors, and send another file back to the calling app instead. Similar to how you could handle a 404 error on a webserver and return something based on what the requested URL was, except on the local file system. Is this possible? And more preferably, is it possible in .Net?

I am trying to write a function that will read the data from these log files into a data frame ignoring the summary information. The summary information never contains a tab, so the following function works: read.parameters <- function(file.name, ...){ lines <- scan("tmp.log", what="character", sep="\n") first.line <- min(grep("\\t", lines)) return(read.delim(file.name, skip=first.line-1, ...)) } However, these logfiles are quite big, and so reading the file twice is very slow.   I want to read a file from Disk in a swift file. It can be a relative or direct path, that doesn't matter. How can I do that? I've been playing with something like this let classesData = NSData .dataWithContentsOfMappedFile("path/to/classes.json"); And it finds the file (i.e. doesn't return nil) but I don't know how to manipulate and convert to JSON, the data returned. It isn't in a string format and String() isn't working on it.

  I am trying to run a batch file. the file is located here: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\getfile.bat I use this in oracle forms 6i: first i assign this path to a variable: tmp_msg := 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\getfile.bat' then I use the host command: host( 'cmd /c' || tmp_msg, no_screen); This is exactly as I have it. It doesn't give me an error, but I don't get the result that I'm expecting. I'm actually executing java code in the batch file like so: java -classpath path;addedpackage.jar myClass I hope someone can help me with this. Thank you.

  I have a record that looks similar to: type TNote = record Title : string; Note : string; Index : integer; end; Simple. The reason I chose to set the variables as string (as opposed to an array of chars) is that I have no idea how long those strings are going to be. They can be 1 char long, 200 or 2000. Of course when I try to save the record to a type file (file of...) the compiler complains that I have to give a size to string. Is there a way to overcome this? or a way to save those records to an untyped file and still maintain a sort of searchable way? Please do not point me to possible solutions, if you know the solution please post code. Thank you

I have in my page a linke: bla bla" The link to the file workds when I right click it and choose "Save Target As" , but I would like it to work also when I left click it, and that it will open a file download dialog. right now, a left click will direct to a page that has the video directly played in it (in FireFox) or just won't load (in Explorer) I am working in php, anyone has a clue why this happens?

  My problem is that I can't remember how I can pass the arguments when running a project in netbeans. There is not enough documentation on web if anybody could help it would be highly appreciated. Here is what I know, you can change the run configurations under run Set Project Configuration Default Configuration there there is a entry space where zou can enter the arguments to be passed. I have a file called "AsciiShop.java" which to be runned and I need to pass the arguments stored in a file called "asciishop-A04-PP.i1". When I am using terminal or cmd.exe I can run the program with java AsciiShop < asciishop-A04-PP.i1 and it works perfect. I want to be able to the same on netbeans. I have placed the file in the default working directory which contains src and bin folders. What should I write in the arguments entry field on the project configurations window, so that it works same like java AsciiShop < asciishop-A04-PP.i1

  I have downloaded databasename.bak file from my hosting company, when i tried to restore that DB file in SQL server 2008 it is keep on giving me following error. The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) According to this error and from following link http://www.sqlcoffee.com/Troubleshooting047.htm It is clear that either file i am downloading is corrupt or it is getting corrupted on the way? • Detect file system changes on Samba share with Java on Windows

  Hi, for a recent project I need to detect file system changes on a mapped Samba share from java on windows: Creates, updates and removes. At the moment I am using a folder poll that maintains a list of files and their modified timestamp to look for events. But my problem is that this folder poll only peeks into the folder at certain times (every 10 seconds for example), so an updated file can be updated twice between two polls without recognizing. Is there any way to get events from windows inside Java whenever a file event occours on that mappep Samba share? Thanks!

In auto generated manifest file contains, ( i was using MS VC++ 2008 Express Edition) In side by side(winsxs) directory, there are three version on msvcr90.dll. my.dll started to using only the latest version of msvcr90.dll (9.0.30729.4148). Here in below topics i need the help: 1) my.dll is using only the latest version of msvcr90.dll . if i tried to make this dll as old. My application fails to start. How to make contidion that my.dll should refer only to the version which i mentioned in manifest file. 2) how can i tell my.dll should dependent on the msvcr90.dll which i providing in the local directory along with my.dll. I want to restrict my my.dll should not do search in the system directory for the msvcr90.dll.

• [PHP] - Lowering script memory usage in a "big" file creation

  Hi there people, it looks like I'm facing a typical memory outage problem when using a PHP script. The script, originally developed by another person, serves as an XML sitemap creator, and on large websites uses quite a lot of memory. I thought that the problem was related due to an algorithm holding data in memory until the job was done, but digging into the code I have discovered that the script works in this way: open file in output (will contain XML sitemap entries) in the loop: ---- for each entry to be added in sitemap, do fwrite close file end Although there are no huge arrays or variables being kept in memory, this technique uses a lot of memory. I thought that maybe PHP was buffering under the hood the fwrites and "flushing" data at the end of the script, so I have modified the code to close and open the file every Nth record, but the memory usage is still the same.... I'm debugging the script on my computer and watching memory usage: while script execution runs, memory allocation grows. Is there a particular technique to instruct PHP to free unsed memory, to force flushing buffers if any? Thanks
