  Consider the following output from a Tomcat server under Eclipse: INFO: Initializing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080 INFO: Initialization processed in 634 ms INFO: Starting service Catalina INFO: Starting Servlet Engine: Apache Tomcat/6.0.20 SEVERE: Error listenerStart SEVERE: Context [/MyServlet] startup failed due to previous errors I would like to figure out what exception caused "Error listenerStart", but Spring seems to be preventing me from finding the error via Eclipse. I'd love to start Catalina manually, but that doesn't seem to do anything. What's the best way to find the hidden exception? I'm not afraid to use torture methods.

  Suppose we have two models, Task and User. So a user can have many tasks and tasks should be able to have many users too. But, a task should also have a unique creator who is also a user. Exemple: A task in this context is like this: Task ID, Task Creator, Users who should do the task User_1 creates a task and he is then the creator. User_1 specifies User_2 and User_3 as users who should do the task. So these two last users are not creators of task. How do I create this models so that if I have a task object, I can find it's creator and users who should complete it. And how do I do, if I have a user, to find all tasks he created and all tasks he should complete. Thank you.

• Getting closure-compiler and Node.js to play nice

  Are there any projects that used node.js and closure-compiler (CC for short) together? The official CC recommendation is to compile all code for an application together, but when I compile some simple node.js code which contains a require("./MyLib.js"), that line is put directly into the output, but it doesn't make any sense in that context. I see a few options: Code the entire application as a single file. This solves the problem by avoiding it, but is bad for maintenance. Assume that all files will be concatenated before execution. Again this avoids the problem, but makes it harder to implement a un-compiled debug mode. I'd like to get CC to "understand" the node.js require() function, but that probably can't be done without editing the compiler itself, can it?

MessageBox(g_hMainhWnd, buffer, "Oops!", MB_OK | MB_ICONERROR); ShellExecute(0, "open", "http://intranet/crash_handler.php", NULL, "", SW_SHOWNORMAL); For a little context, this code is called inside our own exception handler, which was registered with SetUnhandledExceptionFilter() Most of the time, I see the message box, and then it launches a web browser. However, I have an exe, which as far as I'm aware uses this exact code, and it successfully launches the web browser, but I do not see the message box first. Thanks Tim

• Can a flex app (or a portion of a flex app) be made transparent to mouse clicks?

  I need to superimpose my Flex app above a plain HTML control on a web page, and be able to click through the Flex app to interact with the HTML control. Is there any way to do this? No permutation of mouseEnabled="false" or mouseChildren="false" seems to have the desired effect. Context: trying to integrate Google Earth API (JavaScript/HTML) with my flex app. I am leaving a portion of the flex app transparent and empty, and positioning the Google Earth widget just below that point in the z-index. Google Earth has to be behind flex, because there are some Flex controls periodically displayed in that space.

My setup: Backendserver: ngnix: 2 different websites (2 top domains) in virtualenv, running gunicorn/python/django Backendserver hardware(VPS) 2gb ram, 8 CPU Databaseserver: postgresql - pg_bouncer Backendserver hardware (VPS) 1gb ram, 8 CPU Varnishserver: only running varnish Varnishserver hardware (VPS) 1gb ram, 8 CPU I'm trying to set up a varnish server to handle rare spike in traffic (20 000 unique req/s) The spike happens when a tv program mention one of the sites. What do I need to do, to make the varnish server cache both sites/domains on my backendserver?   I am working on rewriting my unexpected error handling process, and I would like to ask the community: What information do you capture both automatic, and manually, when software you have written crashes? Right now, I capture a few items, some of which are: Automatic: Name of app that crashed Version of app that crashed Stack trace Operating System version RAM used by the application Number of processors Screen shot: (Only on non-public applications) User name and contact information (from Active Directory) Manual: What context is the user in (i.e.: what company, tech support call number, RA number, etc...) When did the user expect to happen? (Typical response: "Not to crash”) Steps to reproduce. What other bits of information do you capture that helps you discover the true cause of an applications problem, especially given that most users simply mash the keyboard when asked to tell you what happened. For the record I’m using C#, WPF and .NET version 4, but I don’t necessarily want to limit myself to those. But in that onclick method, my A activity haves to do some work before start B, and B also haves to do some work because it haves to load a lot of data for the UI.   Hi! Are there defined join points in arithmetics that I can catch? Something like: int a = 4; int b = 2; int c = a + b; Can I make a pointcut that catches any one of those lines? And what context will I be able to get? I would like to add a before() to all int/float/double manipulation done in a particular method on a class, is that possible. I see in the AspectJ docs that there are defined join points for object initialization and method calls. Is declaring an int an object initialization and does the + operator count as a method call? • How to organize XIB files with many overlapping elements?

  I have some XIB files which are very difficult to edit because many of the subviews overlap each other completely. For example, if I position a popup volume slider where it will pop up, it covers some UILabels which become impossible to click. My only chance to be able to edit them is to double-click on them in the Document window tree, move them aside, edit, then move them back. Sometimes there are 3 or more widgets that occupy the same location in the XIB, even though only a few are visible at a time while the application is running. How are conditionally-visible screen elements actually supposed to be organized? I would like to be able to hide groups of views to reveal what's beneath them, but I don't see a way to do that in IB. If I create UIViewControllers for every group, I can edit them in separate windows, but I can't see them in context, and I need a lot of view controllers...

  I'm doing some trickery with a bunch of Rake tasks for a complex project, gradually refactoring away some of the complexity in chunks at a time. This has exposed the bizarre web of dependencies left behind by the previous project maintainer. What I'd like to be able to do is to add a specific path in the project to require's list of paths to be searched, aka $:. However, I only want that path to be searched in the context of one particular method.   Context: .Net, C# I want to print a complex number made from two doubles. The sign needs to show on the imaginary part. I'd like to use the default double formatting for each part to minimize the number of characters. I tried using String.Format("{0:+G;-G}{1:+G;-G}j", real, imaginary) but this ended up printing: "+G-Gj". Not quite what I wanted. Is there any way to do this using the G specifier or do I need to do a custom format which would sacrifice auto-switching the exponent, e.g. {1:+#.######e###;-#.######e###}j"

MySQL and DB2 1) Does the order of keys in a PK matter? 2) If the cardinality of the columns varies heavily, which should be used first. • Showing ImageView next to TextView in a ListView

  So I have a listview that is displaying correctly. When the item is "turned on" the text is white and when it's turned off it's grey. That part all functions great. However when I add the ImageView into the mix I get a null pointer exception. I don't understand why. I've tried using bitmaps as well and get the same problem. • Portable way to determine the platform's line separator

  Different platforms use different line separator schemes (LF, CR-LF, CR, NEL, Unicode LINE SEPARATOR, etc.). C++ (and C) make a lot of this transparent to most programs, by converting '\n' to and from the target platform's native new line encoding. But if your program needs to determine the actual byte sequence used, how could you do it portably? The best method I've come up with is: Write a temporary file in text mode with just '\n' in it, letting the run-time do the translation. Read back the temporary file in binary mode to see the actual bytes. That feels kludgy. Is there a way to do it without temporary files? I tried stringstreams instead, but the run-time doesn't actually translate '\n' in that context (which makes sense). Does the run-time expose this information in some other way?
