• Business web application platform structure

  Hi, I would like to develop a web application in java/spring/hibernate serving as a business platform that I could connect plugins to (i.e. CRM plugin, ware plugin, sales plugin). Those plugins could be dependent of other plugins in a tree manner. The parent project would be packaged as war having all the basic configuration and looks (spring configs, css, scripts), ready to go user and group management, security settings, etc. All together I would like it to behave and look a bit like Joomla, but built using different tools for different purposes. And I have a few questions concerning that project: Do you know of any open source projects offering such a platform ready to go? If not is maven applicable for managing those plugins? What is the best way to package and deploy those plugins? And the last but not least, basically is this the right way to go or is a dead end and it would be better to create a separate web app for those business needs?

• Exists a replacement for the command-line-tool CASPOL.exe?

  When trying to execute a .NET-App, it throws a "PolicyException", because "only one group is allowed". The tool should list existing settings, and allow to delete selected settings. Using caspol to list is not helpful, it is cruel. I've seen there is a simple gui-frontend, which allows to define NEW settings, but it does not allow to list or delete existing settings. Caspol is a nightmare, no wonder anyone uses it by choice. With .NET 1.1 Microsoft delivered a configuration-utility, but for .NET 2.0 i've found nothing.

• Excel worksheet error

  Hi, I am trying to create dynamic excel sheet, with the help of php using XML Spreadsheet. But when I try to open the dynamically created excel sheet I keep on getting error that says 'Unable to load worksheet, problem with worksheet settings'. When I try to look at the log file it had created it shows the below text, XML ERROR in Worksheet Setting REASON: Bad Value FILE: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\5XZ039FS\output[3].xls GROUP: Worksheet TAG: Table ATTRIB: ExpandedRowCount VALUE: 4 Can anybody tell what does the above error mean and how do I remove it?

• how rspec creates database between specs

  This is a bit of a naive / simple question. I'm having a hard time finding this info online. Basically, does rspec run rake db:test:prepare between every rspec group? Or is it between every example or model? Or does the schema get loaded once and then truncated between each. I need to add a rake task directly after this call to create a view since they are not supported in schema.rb. Either a link or explanation would be greatly appreciated so that I know where to insert my rake task to create a view. Or whether there is a callback like rake db:test:after_prepare thx

• JavaScript greybox -- slidehow won't work in FF/Safari...

  hi, is anybody familiar with greyBox JavaScript plugin? orangoo.com/labs/GreyBox/ it's for slideshows and stuff.. I can't get it to work in FF/Safari; it works great in IE, but FF/Safari won't play ball.. orensanz.org/photos.html would very much appreciate some suggestions.. supposedly there's a google group (forum) for this thing (can't post url.. this thing limits how many urls u can include in a post, it's linked to from their home pg (url above.. oh brother..) but when you link to it you land on a pg that says they've been booted out b/c they violated google's terms of service....;-) thank you..

• Django model class and custom property

  Howdy - today a weird problem occured to me: I have a modle class in Django and added a custom property to it that shall not be saved into the database and therefore is not represent in the models structure: class Category(models.Model): groups = models.ManyToManyField(Group) title = defaultdict() Now, when I'm within the shell or writing a test and I do the following: c1 = Category.objects.create() c1.title['de'] = 'german title' print c1.title['de'] # prints "german title" c2 = Category.objects.create() print c2.title['de'] # prints "german title" <-- WTF? It seems that 'title' is kind of global. If I change title to a simple string it works as expected, so it has to do something with the dict? • Wrapping 3 objects or less inside a while / foreach in PHP

  Simple question. I have an array of 21 elements, and show every three of them inside a <div> block. The code is something like this: <?php $faces= array( 1 => 'happy', 2 => 'sad', (sic) 21 => 'angry' ); $i = 1; foreach ($faces as $face) { echo $face; $i++; } ?> The problem lies when this array doesn't have 21 elements, sometimes it gets 24, an other times 17. How I wrap every three of them, and wrap alone the rest? I came up with using switch and case, but that works only when there are 21 elements only. I think I could count them beforehand and put a closing in the last one (even if it is a group of one element).

• Jmeter Query new user

  First of all apologies for the below question. Am from a Testing background for the past 8 years and very novice to Jmeter. I went through the Jmeter site, and ran a sample recording using the jmeter.apache.org site and it went fine. I want to test my knowledge and understanding. So, I did the following way. Created a thread group. Added a config element HTTP Default Requests with server name as mail.google.com. Added a Sampler as HTTP request, set the METHOD to POST and gave the username and password, and i ran the test. When i see the Results Viewer, i could see the login page of gmail, I need to know how to pass my username and password and simulate the clicking of Submit button and getting the next page. Please help, am very new and will really appreciate if it's explained as simple as possible.

• C semaphores: sem_wait throwing inexplicable error

  I'm working on a problem which we have to use semaphores to solve. I have an array which contains two semaphores, gsem, and given certain conditions call sem_wait(&(gsem[me])), which is supposed to waiting until that particular process is woken up. However, for some reason it gives me the error Bad file descriptor. I looked up sem_wait and the Open Group spec says this is not an error sem_wait can cause. This is making my whole program crazy and I have no idea why this is failing.

• JSON - Php/SQL iPhone APP Questions/Help

  Hey group, first time posting here I am somewhat new to the JSON/PHP/mySQL world, but been around iPhone designing for the past few years, though this topic of conversation is a while new area I am entering. I have done JSON iPhone examples that allow me to create a UITableView and display the JSON data into the TableViewCells (CustomCells) and displays the data (NSDictionary)into UILabels The problem I am having now, is that I want an APP that displays this information from the JSON into just a couple of UILabel's on a regular UIViewController and not a UITableView any help would greatly be appreciated, the example I used and learned for JSON and UITABLE was from http://tempered.mobi/%20 I used that example from my app, but incorporated a few other things like CUSTOM cells however now when the USER selects the specific CELL I want it to load specific data from another JSON file, and cannot get it to load in a UILabel or UITextView in a UIViewController HELP :-)

• Grouping date periods (by number of days) but exclude the weekends?

  I have a table with start and end dates in. My goal is to have a table that has grouped these dates into how many days the period spans. I thought I had the solution with a simple SQL statement (MS SQL Server 2005) but I want to exclude weekends. SELECT DATEDIFF(D, StartDate, EndDate)+1 AS Days, COUNT(ID) as Count FROM myDateTable GROUP BY DATEDIFF(D, StartDate, EndDate) This gives a record set of: Days Count 1 4 2 2 4 1 7 2 Is this possible to exclude the weekends in the SQL statement and if not can it be done using ASP and a array perhaps?

• ColdFusion Timeout Error

  I have a scheduled task that runs once a day that builds an XML file that I pass off to another group. Recently the amount of data has greatly increased and is now causing the task to time out (I think). I have tried to optimize my script as much as possible but with no luck. It times out long before an hour and I don't get any kind of ColdFusion error. Instead I get a "This page cannot be found" after it runs. Could this be a timeout someplace other than Coldfusion? • Retrieving specific tuples using Mysql

  Hi, I have some problems retrieving specific tuples. I am actually a student trying to build a Room management system. I have two tables: Room(roomID,hotelname,rate) and Reservation(resID,arriveDate,departDate,roomID). I am not sure how to retrieve the rooms that are available between 2 specific dates. This was the query that i used. SELECT Room.roomID,hotelname,rate FROM Room LEFT JOIN Reservation on ( Room.roomID=Reservation.resID and arriveDate >='2010-02-16' and departDate <='2010-02-20' ) GROUP BY roomID,hotelname,rate HAVING count(*)=0;' but it returns an empty set.   I have some text; I want to extract pairs of words that are not separated by punctuation. For example "My name is James", for n = 3, must match "my name is" and "name is james", but instead it matches just the first. Is there a way to solve this?

• How to delete a Dictionary row that is a Double by using an Int?

  Hi, I have a Dictionary object that is formed using a double as its key values. It looks like this: Dictionary<double, ClassName> VariableName = new Dictionary<double, ClassName>(); For my project I have to have the key as the double as I require values like 1.1,1.2,2.1,2.2,etc in my system. Everything in my system works great except when I want to delete all the keys in a group eg all the 1 values would be 1.1,1.2, etc. I can delete rows if I know the full value of the key eg 1.1 but in my system I will only know the whole number. I tried to do the following but get an error: DictionaryVariable.Remove(j => Convert.ToInt16(j.Key) == rowToEdit).OrderByDescending(j => j.Key); Is there anyway to remove all rows per int value by converting the key? Can I maintain the inheritance which is marked up? • Average of a Sum in Mysql query

  I am having some problems creating a query that gives me the average of a sum. I read a few examples here in stackoverflow and couldn't do it. Can anyone help me to understand how to do this please? This is the data I have: Basically I need the average transaction value by cashier. I can't run a basic avg because it will take all rows but each transaction can have multiple rows. At the end I want to have: Cashier| Average| 131 | 44.31 |(Which comes from the sum divided by 3 transactions not 5 rows) 130 | 33.15 | etc. This is the query I have to SUM the transactions but don't know how or where to include the AVG function. • hunting maven dependencies

  I want to start using maven in code I distribute but I can't find an efficient way to work with dependencies. Every new dependency takes me far too long to add. As a simple example, I need to add Tomcat for compilation. Do I really have to manually trawl the repo in my browser to find the group-id, artifact-id and version number? In every case it seems easier to find the non-maven downloads. I hope I've missed something obvious.

  I'm programmatically registering a group of services that all implement the same interface, IRule. I have another service that looks like this: public class MyService { private IEnumerable<IRule> _rules; public MyService(IEnumerable<IRule> rules){ _rules = rules; } } Hammett posted something that looked like what I wanted, http://hammett.castleproject.org/?p=257. I changed the signature to IRule[] and tried the ArrayResolver trick in the post but that didn't work for me(note, it didn't break anything either). Anyone know how to programmatically register a component like the code I posted above?
