• How to gain admin privileges on D-Link router if my isp is not allowing me to do so?

  So I switched to new ISP yesterday, they gave me a D-Link router, can't use my old router. I want to change the wireless password, went to 192.168.1.1, I can login with the the username and password user user, but not as admin. On the catalog it says that the default username and password are admin admin, tried that didn't work. Tried admin and no pass, tried many combinations, none worked. I asked some other users and they said that the isp is blocking the users from logging in as admins, and blocking the reset button, and said that there's a hack where you do something like: cmd telnet "router ip" and do something like dumpcfg. Could you please give a better explanation on how to gain admin privileges on your own router if your isp is not letting you do so by default?

• Configuring a Genius GW-7200 Access Point

  I came across an access point we had a few years ago. I'm now trying to get it set up to work on our network. here are a couple of pictures: http://twitpic.com/194u06/full http://twitpic.com/194u0v/full I have plugged this into our network via the network port on the back. I set up a DHCP reservation, based on the MAC address on the back of the access point, however I cannot ping it, nor access the web interface. I've held down the reset button for 10 seconds, to see if that would do anything. Google doesn't come up with anything on the matter :-(

• My EEEPc 900HA won't turn on/boot. Can it be fixed or does it need to be sent in?

  My EEEPc 900HA stopped booting up out of nowhere. It went to sleep and when I went to wake it up, it wouldn't wake up. I powered down and went to power back up, but no go. The power light comes on solid and the battery/corded power light blinks consistently. There is no HDD activity or light activity. No BIOS. Just the lights described. I've troubleshooted the RAM, HDD, and internal power connections and everything checked out both on battery power and corded power. I've also reset the CMOS to no avail. What else can I do?

• How to build n-layered web architecture with PHP?

  I have a description and design of a website and I need to redesign it to allow for new requirements. The website's purpose is the offering of government's contracts and bidding opportunities for different businesses.I'm dealing with the 3-tier architecture PHP website comprising of the user-interface tier(client's web browser),business logic layer(Apache web server with PHP engine in it and a couple of applications running within a web server as well) and a database layer(local mysql database). Now,i need to redesign it to su???rt distributed n-tier architecture and specify how I would go about it.After long hours of research i came to this solution: business logic should be separated into presentation and purely business logic tier to allow for n-layer architecture(user-interface,presentation tier,b.logic and data tier).I have decided to use ??? just for the presentation(since the original existing website is in PHP) and use it within apache web server.In the business logic i want to use J2?? implementation technology instead of implementing it in PHP(i.e using Zend app.server and smarty template) cz J2EE can provide much more essential container services which are essential for business logic,its robustness,maintainability and different critical business operations which will be carried out by the g?v?rnment's website.So,particularly,i want to use J??ss app.server with ?J? business objects in it which would provide all the b.logic in java and would interact with the database and so forth.In order to connect PHP on a web server with java on app.server i'm gonna use PHP/Java bridge API (or maybe Quercus or SOAP is better?).Finally,i have my data tier with mysql which will communicate with b.logic via JD??.Payment system application in ???.server is gonna use S??? to talk with credit card company. • 1080p playback on external monitor

  My system (netbook) specs: 1.6 GHz dual core atom N2600 2 GB DDR3 RAM Integrated GMA3600 GPU Win 7 Professional 32 Bit Daum Pot Player V-1.5 The issue: I downloaded a 1.33 GB sized 1920 x 1080 HD documentary (file extension: mp4) and it plays without a hitch using pot player. However, when I connected an external display (an LED Full HD 24" monitor) using D-Sub, the video plays fine but the player controls become very unresponsive. For instance, it takes about 40 seconds to exit full screen while playing. I tried: Installed/updated all the latest monitor drivers Updated the VGA drivers for GMA3600 No other programs ran while the video played, with most unwanted services and background processes disabled/killed. CPU usage goes only up to 49% when the video plays Question: What may I do in order to improve the player response/video playback experience? Do I need to play with (or change) Pot Player's default video decoders, etc?

• Certain transformations in Open Inventor(Coin3D)

  Hi, I am quite new to Open Inventor(Coin3D) and have the following problem: I have a SoSelection holding a root node(also SoSeparator). And the root node holds a number of SoSeparator nodes. Each of these SoSeparator nodes holds a SoTransform node and a SoCube node. When I select one cube node I want all other cubes within a certain distance to the selected cube to arrange in a circle arround the selected cube. (Moreover all of the cubes should be on a plane than) An additional information: My cubes are always oriented in the camera direction with (cubeTransform_-rotation.connectFrom(&camera_-orientation) Assuming the selected cube is the center of the circle, how do I translate the other cubes in a circle on a plane(perpendicular to the vector between the selected cube and the camera)? Especially how do I find coordinates on the plain on which the circle should be which have a certain distance from the Axis (from center cube to camera). What I already did is to search for the for all cubes within a certain distance as soon as one cube is selected. As a result I already have the required separators (which are holding the according SoTransforms and SoCubes) in a SoPathList. Now I want to arrange the cubes by modifing the according SoTransform-translation values. Regards Mark

  I have the following code: foreach (Tuple<Point, Point> pair in pointsCollection) { var points = new List<Point>() { pair.Value1, pair.Value2 }; } Within this foreach, I would like to be able to determine which pair of points has the most significant length between the coordinates for each point within the pair. So, let's say that points are made up of the following pairs: (1) var points = new List<Point>() { new Point(0,100), new Point(100,100) }; (2) var points = new List<Point>() { new Point(150,100), new Point(200,100) }; So I have two sets of pairs, mentioned above. They both will plot a horizontal line. I am interested in knowing what the best approach would be to find the pair of points that have the greatest distance between, them, whether it is vertically or horizontally. In the two examples above, the first pair of points has a difference of 100 between the X coordinate, so that would be the point with the most significant difference. But if I have a collection of pairs of points, where some points will plot a vertical line, some points will plot a horizontal line, what would be the best approach for retrieving the pair from the set of points whose difference, again vertically or horizontally, is the greatest among all of the points in the collection? • Change Groupwise 7 User Password from NetWare Server Console

  I have a Groupwise 7 server in place that we use for testing purposes. The previous administrator didn't bother to make a note of any of the account passwords on the machine. I have access to the Server Console...but I can't login via ConsoleOne or anything like that. Is there a command line utility that I can run from the Server Console to reset a Groupwise user password? I just need to have one account up and running for testing. If there's a CLI utility I can use to be able to create a new account, that would work just as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm kinda stuck at this point.

• ASP.Net ListView and event handling.

  I have an .ascx which contains a listview. Let's call it the parent. Within its ItemTemplate I reference a second .ascx which is basically another listview, let's call it the child. On the parent, the child control is wrapped in a placeholder tag. I use this place holder tag to show and hide the child. Psuedo code: The child listview has a 'close' button in its Layout Template. Let's call it "btnClose" with an onClick event of "btnClose_Click". I want to use this button to set the visibility of the containing placeholder. I'm trying to avoid doing something like using PlaceHolder plhChild = (PlaceHolder)childListCtl.NamingContainer since I can't guarantee every instance of the child .ascx will be contained within a placeholder. I tried creating an event in the child that could be subscribed to. Psuedo code: public delegate CloseButtonHandler(); public event CloseButtonHandler CloseButtonEvent; And in the actual btnClose_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) event I have: if (CloseButtonEvent != null) CloseButtonEvent(); My problem is that the delegate CloseButtonEvent is always null. I've tried assigning the delegate in the listview's OnDatabound event of the parent and on the click event, to set the plhChild.visible = true, and I've stepped through the code and know the delegate instantiation works in both place, but again, when it gets to the btnClose_Click event on the child, the delegate is null. • Verizon HTC Eris - No sound on incoming phone call after 2.1 droid upgrade. Help!?

  Has anyone had the following issue? I've had several issues as well: No sound when call connects, ringing or people talking. Apps would force close like weather. I did call HTC support and they had me go into Menu, Settings, Manage Applications and then clear the cache of the problem app. They also had me clear the cache once the browser was open and then do a soft reset (power off the phone and take the battery out for 15 seconds) This did fix some issues, but I am constantly turning my phone on and off to get sound back on call or to make the assigned ringtones work. There's no rhyme or reason as to why they stop working... Anyone else tried anything different??? Related problem statement... http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/android/f/32/p/2601/10344.aspx#10344 My wife and I are most concerned about the incoming call issue.

• How to specify selector when CAKeyframeAnimation is finished?

  I'm using a CAKeyframeAnimation to animate a view along a CGPath. When the animation is done, I'd like to be able to call some other method to perform another action. Is there a good way to do this? I've looked at using UIView's setAnimationDidStopSelector:, however from the docs this looks like it only applies when used within a UIView animation block (beginAnimations and commitAnimations). I also gave it a try just in case, but it doesn't seem to work.   Trying again to ask a PROGRAMMING question because of the over-zealous closing off of what is equally a programming question before allowing the poster to clarify. The latest version of Firefox (v3.6.3) is breaking websites, mine included. I make heavy use of the Infragistic NetAdvantage controls. These, because of their heavy JavaScript reliance and occasional lack of quality control, tend to suffer through browser updates sometimes requiring a hotfix. So the question is... has there been a Firefox release recently that has either introduced a bug, tightening up of some standard, bug fix which might have broken a previous workaround (often the case) etc? I'm guessing around JavaScript but that's a guess hence the reason for asking a group of programmers...

• Google Chrome freezing when I open Bookmark Manager

  I have an issue with Google Chrome freezing whenever I open the Bookmark Manager. Only that particular tab freezes, and I can still use the other tabs. No bookmarks appear, and I cannot type in the 'Search bookmarks' field. This seems to be related with my logged in profile. If I change profile, it allows me to login. I've also tried to login with my profile on different computers using Chrome, and it also freezes. However, I can still add bookmarks from the bookmarks tab. I just cannot use the Bookmark Manager. Any ideas what I can do? Is it possible to somehow export my bookmarks, reset the profile bookmarks (without losing other information like extensions etc), and re-import them?

• Start a screen through svcadm with Solaris 11

  I am running into a problem when trying to start a detached screen through a Solaris 11 service. This service controls nginx. When I reboot the system, the screen doesn't start, but if I issue svcadm disable nginx then svcadm enable nginx manually, it does. The rest of the init script functions correctly on a reboot (the nginx daemon starts, etc). The part of the service that triggers the screen looks like this: case "$1" in start) echo "Starting Nginx Logger: \c" /usr/bin/screen -S nginxLogger -d -m /opt/php-5.3.10/bin/php $loggingProg LogRetVal=$? [ $LogRetVal -eq 0 ] & echo "ok" || echo "failed" .... The log (/var/svc/log/network-nginx\:default.log) shows that $LogRetVal is returning 0, and $loggingProg is just pointing to a PHP script. If it matters, when I manually restart the service, I'm logged in as root. I'm unsure how to check if it's a permission issue (I'm new to Solaris, I've recently switched from CentOS/RHEL).

  I'm not a video editing type, so go easy on me ... practically don't know anything on the subject except that for some videos I view, "color modifying" works (buttons n, j, r for reset ...) and for some it doesn't. What influences that and how can I incluence contrast, saturation and so on on every video I play? (mostly some recordings of experiments in poor light conditions, so those controls really come in handy when viewing some details before taking out snapshots for reports) Also, KMPlayer has an enormous number of options. Is there one somewhere that can take a snapshot in a predefined directory of the what-I-see-on-screen every xy number of seconds?

  Fail2ban 0.9 introduce database storage to save bans on restart. But I can't find out the actual mechanism of it work. There is dbpurgeage parameter which controls lifetime of old bans, defaults to 24 hours. As I see from code research, fail2ban saves a ban to the db with timeofban equals to the moment of ban being saved. Then every dbpurgeage period it removes all bans with timeofban < MyTime.time() - self._purgeAge, in other words removes all bans have been stored more than 24 hours ago. But what if an IP was banned for the month? Does all this mean that with dbpurgeage = 86400 after restart in 24 hours I will lost all bans longer than 24 hours? I just want that all my permanent bans will be preserved in any case.

• How do I change the color settings in emacs23 running in a terminal emulator?

  I use xterm and set its appearance in ~/.Xdefaults: XTerm*background: paleTurquoise XTerm*foreground: black I also use emacs, but set its appearance differently in ~/.emacs: (set-background-color "black") (set-foreground-color "yellow") I usually run emacs within the terminal emulator with emacs -nw, rather than creating a separate X window. For some reason, this doesn't work properly for emacs23; instead, emacs retains the pale turquoise background of my xterm window. Looking at what's new in emacs23, I noted that: ** When running in a new enough xterm (newer than version 242), Emacs asks xterm what the background color is and it sets up faces accordingly for a dark background if needed (the current default is to consider the background light). So it's a feature, not a bug? Anyway, is there some way that I can I tell emacs23 to ignore the xterm background settings when running in console mode, and use the settings in ~/.emacs instead? I'll also note that: It works fine in emacs23 running in a separate X window (without the -nw option). It worked fine in emacs22; and I'm not really sure whether I need to use emacs23... Running M-x set-background-color within emacs23 -nw has no effect. It's not just xterm: the same problem exists with $TERM=cygwin, for example.

• Graphics card failure, anything I could try...

  My gaming PC has decided to die, it's not the first time but usually a quick ATX reset brings it back to life. Today it didn't. I disconnect all unessasary devices so I've only got the case button / LED cables, GPU, CPU, RAM and power connected, the computer still didn't turn on. I've not got a speaker on my motherboard so found a spare one I have for testing and when the machine starts up I get one long beep and two short beeps from my Award BIOS, which apparently means a video card error. I change it with the GPU from another machine and all works well. Q: So I have a faulty graphics card (an nVidia 8800GT OC), is there anything I can try to resurect it?

• vncserver too many security failures

  I try to connect to my vncserver running on CentOs from home computer, behind firewall. I have installed Win7 and Ubuntu both on this machine. I have an error: VNC conenction failed: vncserver too many security failures even when loging with right credentials (I reset passwd on CentOs). Is it something regarding that I try as root? I think important is also that I have to login to remote Centos through port 6050 - none else port works for me. Do I have to do something with other ports? I see that vncserver is listening on 5901, 5902 if another added - and I consider connection is established because from time to time (long time) the passwd prompt appears,... right? please help, what to do? even if prompt appeared and I put correct password I get: authentication failure. how to disable this lockout for a testing purposes?

• Mac Book Pro and Photosohp working canvas lost off screen somewhere

  I seem to have a unique issue. I have a mac book pro which I often have connected to one or 2 additional monitors, and I think this is in part my issue. Cause when Im at home working with only the built in monitor and I go to open something new or existing in photoshop my canvas if you will call it that is no where to be found. I checked my display settings, its treating it as a one monitor solution. I've tried to in photoshop to bring all my windows to front, Ive tried to cascade and tile my windows, ive tried to reset my work area, and to no avail I can't for the life of me get the canvas to come to my screen so I can work with what ever I intend to work on. Anyone else have this problem or run into similar? How did you fix it?

• new monitor won't work on win3.1

  My old system monitor for my Windows 3.1 machine failed and the new flat screen has a sync error. The new monitors do not support the refresh/screen size it is set to. It boots up into Windows and the monitor is blank with a sync error. Without Windows 3.1 working I don't know how to change the refresh/size to get it to work. I haven't used Win3.1 in so long that I can't remember how to fix this. So, how do I reset the refresh rate and screen resolution it is set to, without being able to actually see anything?

• Should the entity framework + self tracking entities be saving me time

  I've been using the entity framework in combination with the self tracking entity code generation templates for my latest silverlight to WCF application. It's the first time I've used the entity framework in a real project and my hope was that I would save myself a lot of time and effort by being able to automatically update the whole data access layer of my project when my database schema changed. Happily I've found that to be the case, updating my database schema by adding a new table, changing column names, adding new columns etc. etc. can be propagated to my business object classes by using the update from database option on the entity framework model. Where I'm hurting is the CRUD operations within my WCF service in response to actions on my Silverlight client. I use the same self tracking entity framework business objects in my Silverlight app but I find I'm continually having to fight against problems such as foreign key associations not being handled correctly when updating an object or the change tracker getting confused about the state of an object at the Silverlight end and the data access operation within the WCF layer throwing a wobbly. It's got to a point where I have now spent more time dealing with this quirks than I have on my previous project where I used Linq-to-SQL as the starting point for rolling my own business objects. Is it just me being hopeless or is the self tracking entities approach something that should be avoided until it's more mature?

• VMWare Headphone Issue

  I am running VMWare Workstation Version 7 on a Windows 7 partition on a Macbook Pro. I have built a virtual XP machine within vmware to run some old music programs. The sound from my virtual machines comes out of my macbook speakers but the volume is not controllable using my macbook volume controls, only by using the volume control on the XP machine. My problem is that i need to use headphones, and when i plug a headphone jack into my macbook, the sound from my vmware virtual machines still comes out of the macbook speakers. I am baffled. Please help. Thanks in advance...

• Is it possible to make a persistent USB serial port regardless ofthe existence of the USB device?

  USB serial ports, especially devices which emulate serial ports, don't quite behave the same as old serial ports, which causes a few problems with some software. old serial ports, always existed, they never come and go out of existence. With USB devices that emulate serial ports, they come and go depending on whether they are powered / reset etc. Is there a way under windows to make the USB serial port permanently exist regardless of the presence of the device? (not just come back as the same name as it was before).
