  This is a follow up question to this question The solution to the above uses DWM to display a thumbnail of an active window. If I understand correctly, it works by letting you specify the window handle of the application you want to view and then having you provide a window handle and a location on that window where windows should draw the contents of the target Window. Is there a way to render the window screen shot directly to BitmapImage or Image instead of directly drawing it somewhere in your window? (Basically to just grab a screen shot of the window - even if it's covered by another window - with out using an updating thumbnail.) Thanks for you help!

• Why does ASP.NET web site reference assembly from GAC, when adding local reference?

  When you use ASP.NET web site (instead of web application model) and add reference to an assembly from local folder, Visual Studio, it seems, understands that this local assembly is also in GAC and so does NOT copy this assembly to bin folder (as it does with non-GAC assemblies), but simply adds new record in web.config file. Why such a behaviour? Is it possible to force copy to bin folder (I need this since .dll is not on target environment)? I can add assembly to bin folder as file and it will work, but in this case bin folder contents will be in source control, which is not good.

• Refresh backend in GWT development

  I am developing a GWT application that uses EJB and other Java EE 6 technology as the backend. I am currently using the GWT 2.0 plugin for Safari. When I change my GWT client side code and save in my IDE (NetBeans), all that's required is a simple reload in the browser for the changes to become active. That works great! However, often I work on the server-side (the EJBs, GWT server code, etc) and then something in on the GWT client side. Any changes done to the server-side do not appear to incrementally deploy to the Glassfish V3 server. Currently I close the GWT Development Mode application, and then recompile the EJBs, and then go back into GWT Development mode. That is tedious. Any better way of doing this? I tried the "deploy on save" option in NetBeans but it does not seem to do the trick.

  I'm using the MySql connector for .NET to copy data from MySql servers to SQL Server 2008. Has anyone experienced better performance using one of the following, versus the other? DataAdapter and calling Fill to a DataTable in chunks of 500 DataReader.Read to a DataTable in a loop of 500 I am then using SqlBulkCopy to load the 500 DataTable rows, then continue looping until the MySql record set is completely transferred. I am primarily concerned with using a reasonable amount of memory and completing in a short amount of time. Any help would be appreciated!

  From within the setup_app function (websetup.py) of a pylons i18n application, which is making use of a db, I was trying to initiate multilingual content to be inserted into the db. To do so the idea was something like: necessary imports here def setup_app(command, conf, vars): .... for lang in langs: set_lang(lang) content=model.Content() content.content=_('content') Session.add(content) Session.commit() Unfortunately it seems that it doesn't work. the set_lang code line is firing an exception as follows: File ".. i18n/translation.py", line 179, in set_lang translator = _get_translator(lang, **kwargs) File ".. i18n/translation.py", line 160, in _get_translator localedir = os.path.join(rootdir, 'i18n') File ".. /posixpath.py", line 67, in join elif path == '' or path.endswith('/'): AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'endswith' Actually I'm even not sure it could be possible launching i18n mechanisms from within this setup_app function without an active request object. Anyone has tried some trick on a similar story ?

• Help replace this SQL cursor with better code

  Can anyone give me a hand improving the performance of this cursor logic from SQL 2000. It runs great in SQl2005 and SQL2008, but takes at least 20 minutes to run in SQL 2000. BTW, I would never choose to use a cursor, and I didn't write this code, just trying to get it to run faster. • Change Keyboard Layout for Other Process

  I'm writing a program in C# that runs in the background and allows users to use a htokey to switch keyboard layouts in the active window. (Windows only supports CTRL+SHIFT & ALT+SHIFT) I'm using RegisterHotKey to catch the hotkey, & it's working fine. The problem is that I can't find any API to change the keyboard layout for the focused window. ActivateKeyboardLayout and LoadKeyboardLayout can only change the keyboard layout for the calling thread. Does anyone know how to change the keyboard layout for a different thread (the way the Language Bar does)?

• JavaScript distributed computing project

  I made a website that does absolutely nothing, and I've proven to myself that people like to stay there - I've already logged 11+ hours worth of cumulative time on the page. My question is whether it would be possible (or practical) to use the website as a distributed computing site. My first impulse was to find out if there were any JavaScript distributed computing projects already active, so that I could put a piece of code on the page and be done. Unfortunately, all I could find was a big list of websites that thought it might be a cool idea. I'm thinking that I might want to start with something like integer factorization - in this case, RSA numbers. It would be easy for the server to check if an answer was correct (simply test for modulus equals zero), and also easy to implement. Is my idea feasible? Is there already a project out there that I can use?

• Best way to implement keywords for image upload gallery

  I'm starting to spec out an image gallery type system similar to Facebook's. Members of the site will be able to create image galleries and upload images for others to view. Images will have keywords the the uploader can specify. Here's the question, what's the best way to model this? With image and keyword tables linked vi a HABTM relation? Or a single image table with the keywords saved as comma delimited values in a text field in the image record? Then search them using a LIKE or FULL TEXT index function? I want to be able to pull up all images containing a given keyword as well as generate a keyword cloud. I'm leaning toward the HABTM setup but I wanted to see what everyone else though. Thanks!!

• Disabling Firefox spell checking in iframe-based text editors

  There is a lot of info around about how to disable spell checking in html textarea element by using spellcheck='false'. However to have text area with more advanced capabilities, one must use iframe with designMode = "on" (see e.g. this page, this is a way that RichTextArea is implemented in GWT) and I couldn't find a single post on that topic. It turns out that Firefox detects such advanced text areas and enables its spell checking in them. You can see it live by visiting this page from Firefox and entering some content to text field. If you inspect this code, you'll see no textarea tag, yet FF spell checking is still active. The only way I managed to disable it was setting designMode to off but... I need it to be on. The question is: Is there any possibility to disable spell checking in such cases, without setting designMode = "off"?

  Hello, Let's say I've a class myClass which has few properties, such as property1, property2, perperty3, etc. Now, I'd like to populate an array with each of those properties so that, I can access each of them through its index. Is there an automatic way of doing so?   Hi, Currently i'm using Zend_Cache_Backend_File for caching my project (especially responses from external web services). I was wandering if I could find some benefit in migrating the structure to Zend_Cache_Backend_Sqlite. Possible advantages are: File system is well-ordered (only 1 file in cache folder) Removing expired entries should be quicker (my assumption, since zend wouldn't need to scan internal-metadatas for expiring date of each cache) Possible disadvantages: Finding record to read (with files zend check if file exists based on filename and should be a bit quicker) in term of speed. I've tried to search a bit in internet but it seems that there are not a lot of discussion about the matter. What do you think about it? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I'm uploading a large amount of data from a CSV (I'm doing it via MySQL Workbench): LOAD DATA INFILE 'C:/development/mydoc.csv' INTO TABLE mydatabase.mytable CHARACTER SET utf8 FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"' LINES TERMINATED BY '\r'; However, I'm noticing that it keeps adding an empty line full of nulls/zeros after the last record. I'm guessing it's because of the "LINES TERMINATED" command. However, I need that to load the data in correctly. Is there some way around this / some better SQL to avoid the blank row in the table? • how to use monthNames in jqgrid when validating date?

  Hi all. In my jqgrid when i am clicking on add new record i have date field prepopulated with current date. Format of the date is yyyy-MMM-d (e.g. 2010-Jan-23). Date is required field and when i click submit button it fails validation and displays error that this date is invalid, and it wants Y-m-d format. How can i check my value with jqgrid? In other words how to make jqgrid accept the following date format when validating 2010-Jan-23? Thanks.
