  • Serialize JavaScript's navigator object

    Hi, I'm creating a page to help diagnose the problem our users are experiencing with our web pages (you know, asking a user "What browser are you using?" usually leads to "Internet"). This page already submits to me all the HTTP headers and now I'm trying to have JavaScript give some more informations, so I thought it would be great to have the user's navigator JavaScript object and I started looking how to serialize it so I can submit it through a form. The problem is I'm not able to serialize the navigator object using any JSON library I know of, everyone returns an empty object (?!), so I decided to write an ad-hoc serializer.   • Saving small text files is slow over Win Server 2008 R2 VPN

    We have a VPN connection to our Windows Server 2008 R2 machine, and the connection works fine. Large files go back and forth fairly quickly, but we use the connection mainly for working on small text files (.aspx, .asp, .php etc). What we find very annoying is that even the smallest of files, there is a noticeable delay of between 2-5 seconds when saving any changes. As we often make changes to code and are constantly saving, this is becoming a problem. Is there anything that might be causing this delay? Or is there anything we can do to speed it up? The connection is definitely not the issue as we have a constant 5Mb upload from our server, and 20Mb+ down on the remote machines. Thanks, Chris.

This creates up to 40 lines for a user to fill out. Each line consists of the same information: Description, Amount, and Frequency. The remainder of the information needed is generated by the database.   • Using jQuery to store basic text string in mySQL base?

    Could someone point me in the right direction here? So it's actually within a click handler. If I understand this correctly, this snippet takes the source if the image I just clicked and strips it so I end up with only the filename. If I do an alert(filename), I get the filename only. So this is working ok. But then, it does an ajax call to a php file called "save_to_db.php" and sends data: filename. This is correct right? Then, it does a callback which does an alert + data. Does this seem correct so far? Cause my php file looks like this: <?php require("dbconnect2.php"); $uploadstring = $_POST['filename']; $sessionid = $_SESSION['id']; echo ($sessionid); mysql_query("UPDATE brukere SET brukerBakgrunn = '$uploadstring' WHERE brukerID=" .$_SESSION['id']); mysql_close(); ?> When I click the image, the jQuery snippet fires and I get the results of this php file as output for the alert box. I think that the variables somehow are empty. Because notice the echo($sessionid); which is a variable I've created just to test what the session ID is. And it returns nothing. What could be the issue here? Edit: I just tried to echo out the $uploadstring variable as well and it also returns nothing. It's like the jQuery snippet doesn't even pass the variable on to the php file?

  • What is a good solution for an intranet video portal (YouTube-like) site? [closed]

    I would like an easy-to-setup site to handle videos to be viewed internally by my company. YouTube is essentially the perfect solution except for its being public. I'm looking for a place where a few people can upload videos, and the system will return a page where they can watch that video in a browser. I figure this would involve a dedicated Web server to run the Web application and process the videos. I've searched and I don't think such a system exists, but I perhaps there's one out there in its infancy that doesn't rank high on Google yet. Essentially the site I'm looking for is what MediaWiki is to Wikis, or what StackExchange is to Q&A sites, but for videos.

    I want to use file_get_contents to implement a proxy so I can do ajax cross domain requests. Querystring will be used to supply the URL to file_get_contents. Now the problem is people can muck around with the qurystring in order to read local files on the server. I dont wnat this. Can someone get me a function to sinitize the querystring in order only to accept urls and not local files: ie: ?url=http://google.com.au - OK ?url=./passwords.txt - Not OK

  • Why is the resulting file unplayable when I use FFMPEG to convert a MP4 video to ASF?

    I want to convert an .mp4 file to an .asf file, but I need to keep the size of the file below 150 mb (the server I need to upload the file to can only take files under 150 mb). Basically I want to recontain the .mp4 in an .asf file. The code I'm using currently is ffmpeg input.mp4 -c copy output.asf The command runs, however when I try to play the file on windows media player (I'm on windows xp) I get an error message saying "Windows media player has encountered a problem while playing the file." Anyone have any idea why this is happening? And what other ways I can accomplish this task?

  • Combine two or more tables into a third separate table

    Hi community, I have an excel workbook that has three pivot tables in it. What I am wanting to do is create a fourth table that combines the data from all three of the other tables. Essentially I want to concatenate the tables together but still preserve the source tables. Another criteria of what I am wanting to do is if I add a row to any of the source tables it must update the combined table and it must work with x amount of rows where x could be any size. I know I am asking a lot but I would be so grateful if I could get some help working this out. I am comfortable with using either VBA or native excel to solve this. If you guys need examples I will be happy to upload some.

  • jQuery: load refuses to get dynamic content in IE6

    jQuery refuses to load my dynamic content in IE6. All in FireFox & Safari works fine. Only IE6 is being a pain. When I try the a html with <p>Hello World</p> that works. Properly.   • get $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH'] with iframe

    I'm working with Colorbox and if I specify to use an iframe with it then the $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH'] variable is no longer available to me. I need that in order to detect if ajax has loaded so then I can include a header/footer or not. Anyway to get this variable or is there another variable that I can get when I use iframe? Thanks.

    I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 server edition on my machine and I wish to run my own personal local server with other users in the same LAN. First, I was wondering what folder directory structure is best for the web root? Should I just use: /var/www/ and start throwing web documents there or should I create a folder elsewhere (maybe the home directory)? Second, in the /var/www/ directory only the root user can create documents in there, however, I wish to have other users be able to create files in the document root and upload them via FTP. Should I change the permissions or the www/ folder? Or again, should I create the document root elsewhere with different permissions? What is the safest way of doing this?

  • jQuery function execute on Button Click and Enter/Return (key)

    I'm trying to create a little search box that allows you to search Twitter based on the keyword you enter in the input field. While it's work, it only works if you press the Submit button. I would also like to be able to press the Enter or Return key to initiate the search. I've tried using the .sumbit function and wrapping my input around a form element with no success.     As documentation says: You can import VMware ESX and VMware Workstation VMDK images, Citrix Xen VHD images and Microsoft Hyper-V VHD images for Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. What about virtual machine with Ubuntu on it? Will it import it successfully? Have anyone tried to do it? Is it possible to import VM directly from Windows Azure. Without need to download VM on my machine and then upload it to Amazon? Thanks.
