    We own multiple country code top-level domains for our website e.g DE, UK ,FR. When someone visits for one of those domains they redirect to .com and the language automatically changes for the first time to the one from the originating domain. Also users can change the language from the .com website using a dropdown, however the page URI stays exactly the same e.g service.php. How will that be indexed in Google ? Will all the different language will be indexed or only the default lang (English) ? Is it recommended for SEO purposes to do something with the page URL (even using the htaccess maybe) so that I can also append to the title or page name the language ? e.g service.php?lang=fr

    I'm developing a web site in php in localhost and as modules of it gets completed, I upload it on the cloud so that my friends can alpha test it. As I keep developing, I've lots of files and I lose track of which file I've edited or changed etc. I've heard of something as 'version control' to manage all those but am not sure how it works. So, my question is: Is there an easy way/service/application available to me to track all the edits/changes/new files and manage the files as I develop the website. As Soon as I'm done with a module, I want to upload it on the cloud (I'm using Amazon Cloud Service). If something happens to the new files, I might want to get back to the old file. And maybe, in a click or two, I get to see the files which I've edited or changed since the last one I've uploaded?

I think Google scans my pages and decides itself which ads to show where. Navigation on my site is mainly based on the selection of categories or tags being provided by the users. So after a user filters a list of bookmarks by the tag "SEO", I think I know pretty well what he is looking for. So I am looking for a service that allows me to show contextual ads for these particular keywords. How I can guide Google to show relevant ads?   • HintPath vs ReferencePath in Visual Studio

    What exactly is the difference between the HintPath in a .csproj file and the ReferencePath in a .csproj.user file? We're trying to commit to a convention where dependency DLLs are in a "releases" svn repo and all projects point to a particular release. Since different developers have different folder structures, relative references won't work, so we came up with a scheme to use an environment variable pointing to the particular developer's releases folder to create an absolute reference. So after a reference is added, we manually edit the project file to change the reference to an absolute path using the environment variable. I've noticed that this can be done with both the HintPath and the ReferencePath, but the only difference I could find between them is that HintPath is resolved at build-time and ReferencePath when the project is loaded into the IDE. I'm not really sure what the ramifications of that are though. I have noticed that VS sometimes rewrites the .csproj.user and I have to rewrite the ReferencePath, but I'm not sure what triggers that. I've heard that it's best not to check in the .csproj.user file since it's user-specific, so I'd like to aim for that, but I've also heard that the HintPath-specified DLL isn't "guaranteed" to be loaded if the same DLL is e.g. located in the project's output directory. Any thoughts on this?

    Hi I have a project that works great on my machine (and production servers). It's a VS2010 project running C#3.5. When letting my build server build the solution it can't resolve a couple of my third party dll's. Error message: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(1360,9): warning MSB3268: The primary reference "Third.Party.Assembly, Version=50.11.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0561a7c6dbd6f0ea, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. ".NETFramework,Version=v3.5". To resolve this problem, either remove the reference "Third.Party.Assembly, Version=50.11.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0561a7c6dbd6f0ea, processorArchitecture=MSIL" or retarget your application to a framework version which contains "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a".   • Unable to regress web application from AJAX Control Toolkit 3.0 back to 1.0

    I was recently asked to stop using the Ajax Control Toolkit 3.0 in my application and need to go back to 1.0. Luckily I only have one calendar control which I don't believe will be affected by this. I have removed the reference to the 3.0 .dll and added a reference to the 1.0 .dll.   • TeamCity stopped working once I added NUnit to the mix

    I'm struggling a lot trying to get our build server going. I am currently running tests in a Windows XP virtual machine, and have installed TeamCity v5.0.3, build 10821. I am using NUnit v2.5.3. I finished the initial setup with TeamCity without any issues at all, provided that I use the sln2008 build runner that makes the entire process almost brainless. It's really quite nice that way, and very satisfying to see your first successful automated build. Now it's time to kick it up a notch and I wanted to get NUnit working. I keep the NUnit 2.5.3 assemblies in an external libs folder in SVN, so I checked that out onto the test system. I selected NUnit 2.5.3 from the build runner options, as the online instructions had recommended. But when I build, I get the following error: Window1.xaml.cs(14,7): error CS0246: The type or namespace name ‘NUnit’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Window1.xaml.cs(28,10): error CS0246: The type or namespace name ‘Test’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Window1.xaml.cs(28,10): error CS0246: The type or namespace name ‘TestAttribute’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Everything compiles great in the IDE. From finding blog posts and submitting comments, I got some advice and confirmed the following: I have the HintPath value set properly in my project file (points to the external lib) I can also do a full Release and Debug build from the command line using msbuild I have tried do use the NUnit installer so nunit.framework.dll gets registered into the GAC I have changed the build agent's logon account to be a user on the test system, rather than LOCAL SYSTEM. Nothing seems to help... can anyone else here offer me some advice on what to try next?

  • Problems with MembershipUser / System.Web.ApplicationServices when upgrading to .net 4

    I have a large vb.net web project that I am trying to updgrade to .net4/VS2010. During compile I get the following error: 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' in assembly 'System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' has been forwarded to assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. Either a reference to 'System.Web.ApplicationServices' is missing from your project or the type 'System.Web.Security.MembershipUser' is missing from assembly 'System.Web.ApplicationServices'. I researched the issue and the error is accurate. I added a reference to System.Web.ApplicationServices but I am still having problems. The project does not seem to recognize that the reference has been added. Intellisense will not pick it up, I can not use it in an Import statement, etc ... The assembly is listed in the compile section of my web.config: <assemblies> ... <add assembly="System.Web.ApplicationServices, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35"/> </assemblies> Any ideas?

  • Using two versions of the same assembly (system.web.mvc) at the same time

    I'm using a content management system whose admin interface uses MVC 1.0. I would like to build the public parts of the site using MVC 2. If I just reference System.Web.Mvc version 2 in my project the admin mode doesn't work as the reference to System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage created by the views in the admin interface is ambiguous: The type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage' is ambiguous: it could come from assembly 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Mvc\2.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Mvc.dll' or from assembly 'C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Mvc\1.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Mvc.dll'. Please specify the assembly explicitly in the type name. I could easily work around this by using binding redirects to specify that MVC 2 should always be used. Unfortunately the content management systems admin mode isn't compatible with MVC 2. I'm not exactly sure why, but I start getting a bunch of null reference exceptions in some of it's actions when I try it and the developers of the CMS have confirmed that it isn't compatible with MVC 2 (yet). The admin interface which is accessed through domain.com/admin is not physically located in webroot/admin but in the program files folder on the server and domain.com/admin is instead routed there using a virtual path provider. Therefor, putting a separate web.config file in the admin folder to specify a different version of System.Web.Mvc for that part of the site isn't an option as that won't fly when using shared hosting. Can anyone see any solution to this problem? Perhaps it's possible to specify that for some assemblies a different version of a referenced assembly should be used?

    Hello All, I have a Silverlight-3 solution that contains a few different projects. I want to have one "common" project for holding controls and resources that will be used by multiple other projects. Within the common project, there is a folder called Resources, which holds a ResourceDictionary (CommonColors.xaml). This is set to be built as a Resource, Do Not Copy. I add a reference to the common project in another project (call it UncommonControls), and attempt to add the ResourceDictionary as a MergedDictionary: <UserControl.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/Common;component/Resources/CommonColors.xaml" /> <ResourceDictionary Source="/UncommonControls;component/Resources/UncommonStyles.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </UserControl.Resources> When I try to run, I get an exception: Attribute /Common;component/Resources/CommonColors.xaml value is out of range. [Line: 14 Position: 44] --- Inner Exception --- The given key was not present in the dictionary. However, if I reference a ResourceDictionary local to Uncommon (such as the UncommonStyles.xaml, above) project, which is set up with the same Build properties, it works fine. I haven't seen anything that says SL3 can't reference an external ResourceDictionary (on the contrary, I've seen an example of using one, albeit with no downloadable project to verify the behavior).     I am able to successfully put a link in the pdf with a friendly name: Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; doc.Add(anchor); However, I cannot get get the anchor to work within a PdfPCell. Here is what I have tried so far: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Anchor(anchor)); That displays the exception: System.ArgumentException: Element not allowed. I also tried: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Phrase(anchor)); This does not throw an exception but it isn't a link it is just the word "Google". I am using the newest version of iTextSharp at this time v.(5.4.4.0) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    I am having way too much trouble getting my environment straight after switching to 2010 and .net 4.0, so I'd like to break the whole process down once and for all. 1) Which SQLite dll?? I think it is SQLite-1.0.65.1-vs2010rc-net4-setup.zip. Yes? 2) I ran the installer so the dll is in the GAC but I usually find there are less problems if I can just reference the dll stand alone. Is there any reason it needs to be in the GAC, and if not, what's the best way to uninstall it from the GAC (I can get to the GAC folder but it says I need permission to delete the files; should I leave the SQLite Designer dll's there?)? 3) x64. There is an x64 dll in the download. I had problems with SQLite in the past though that I could only resolve by compiling to x86. Can I safely reference the x64 dll and compile to Any CPU now? 4) what is the right NHib config? I have been using the one below, but since the error I get says "Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver." that configuration is guilty until proven innocent too? 5) could FNH be a problem too? I don't use the pre-configured fluent SQLite method but FNH has to provide a reference to it for that to work, no?   • [Linq to SQL] Multiple foreign keys to the same table

    I have a reference table with all sorts of controlled value lookup data for gender, address type, contact type, etc. Many tables have multiple foreign keys to this reference table I also have many-to-many association tables that have two foreign keys to the same table. Unfortunately, when these tables are pulled into a Linq model and the DBML is generated, SQLMetal does not look at the names of the foreign key columns, or the names of the constraints, but only at the target table. So I end up with members called Reference1, Reference2, ... not very maintenance-friendly. Example: <Association Name="tb_reference_tb_account" Member="tb_reference" <====== ThisKey="shipping_preference_type_id" OtherKey="id" Type="tb_reference" IsForeignKey="true" /> <Association Name="tb_reference_tb_account1" Member="tb_reference1" <====== ThisKey="status_type_id" OtherKey="id" Type="tb_reference" IsForeignKey="true" /> I can go into the DBML and manually change the member names, of course, but this would mean I can no longer round-trip my database schema. This is not an option at the current stage of the model, which is still evolving. Splitting the reference table into n individual tables is also not desirable. I can probably write a script that runs against the XML after each generation and replaces the member name with something derived from ThisKey (since I adhere to a naming convention for these types of keys). Has anybody found a better solution to this problem?

    Hello, I've been tasked with designing a very simple SSO (single sign-on) process. My employer has specified that it should be implimented in SAML. I'd like to create messages that are absolutely as simple as possible while confirming to the SAML spec. I'd be really grateful if some of you would look at my request and response messages and tell me if they make sense for my purpose, if they include anything that doesn't need to be there, and if they are missing anything that does need to be there. Addionally, I'd like to know where in the response I should put additional information about the subject; in particular, the subject's email address. The interaction needs to work as follows: 1) User requests service from service provider at this point, the service provider knows nothing about the user. 2) Service provider requests authentication for user from identity provider 3) User is authenticated/registered by identity provider 4) Identity provider responds to Service provider with authentication success message, PLUS user's email address.   • HttpUtility does not exist in the current context

    I get this error when compiling a C# application. Looks like a trivial error, but I can't get around it. My setup is Windows 7 64 bit. Visual-Studio 2010 C# express B2Rel. I added a reference to System.Web.dll located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\.NETFramework\v4.0, but it has a yellow exclamation symbol and I still get the above error. I also have the using System.Web declaration. What am I doing wrong? Update: After getting the prompt answer pointing me at the root cause, I searched a bit in Google to where it states that System.Web.dll is for the full framework. I did not find such a reference. For newbies like me, this blog summarizes the difference between the frameworks (client and full) nicely. I could not find a spot that says whether a certain Dll is supported in the client framework or not. I guess the exclamation mark in Visual Studio should be the first signal...
