  • Why does Perl's Devel::LeakTrace::Fast point to blank files and evals?

    I am using Devel::LeakTrace::Fast to debug a memory leak in a perl script designed as a daemon which runs an infinite loop with sleeps until interrupted. I am having some trouble both reading the output and finding documentation to help me understand the output. The perldoc doesn't contain much information on the output. Most of it makes sense, such as pointing to globals in DBI. Intermingled with the output, however, are several leaked SV(<LOCATION>) from (eval #) line # Where the numbers are numbers and <LOCATION> is a location in memory. The script itself is not using eval at any point - I have not investigated each used module to see if evals are present. Mostly what I want to know is how to find these evals (if possible). I also find the following entries repeated over and over again leaked SV(<LOCATION>) from line # Where line # is always the same #. Not very helpful in tracking down what file that line is in.

  • Why input elements don't render the value passed in ASP.Net MVC?

    This post asks this question but doesn't really give an answer, so I thought I would ask the question differently. I have a page that renders a hidden value from the model: <%=Html.Hidden("myName", model.myValue) %> Since I am passing a value in the value parameter, you would think it would output that value, but it doesn't. The code for rendering input fields has the following: string attemptedValue = (string)htmlHelper.GetModelStateValue(name, typeof(string)); tagBuilder.MergeAttribute("value", attemptedValue ?? ((useViewData) ? htmlHelper.EvalString(name) : valueParameter), isExplicitValue); Basically, if the ModelState (which contains posted values) contains a value for the "name" passed, it will use that value instead of your passed value to the helper method. In my case, I updated the model and my updated value wasn't outputted. If I pass a value to a method, I expect that value to be rendered. Am I missing something in this design or is it just wrong?

  • CodeIgnitor is generating multiple sessions in the database, why?

    Ive got a site that does a few ajax calls on page load, now for some reason, codeIgnitor is inserting 4 sessions (I'm assuming for each ajax call) as you load the page. I'm storing the sessions in the database. I'm pretty sure there should only be one session per browser? FF seems to only generate one, other browsers seem to create a whole bunch of sessions. Multiple sessions for the same user are giving me some serious authentication problems. any ideas?

  • Javascript: click and dblclick deliver different parentNodes on same html. Why?

    currently I work on an very small wysiwyg editor based on jquery. I dont care about IE oder Chrome, just Firefox. My problem is to find if the selection is in a link for to get the value of the href attribute if is set. With click the node of the link is found, with double click always the body. It is in designMode. My event-handler for click and dblclick. The vars current_selection, current_node, iframe and container are global. selection_handler:function() { current_selection = iframe.getSelection(); current_node = current_selection.anchorNode; if(current_node.nodeName == "#text") { current_node = current_node.parentNode; } $('#log').text(current_node.nodeName); }, The log shows mit for example 'body', when I click in unformated text. When I add a link with execCommand('createLink',...) the log shows 'A'. That works. When I mark the linked word with 2 click from start to end, the log shows 'A'. But with double click I always get 'body'. So I can't get the href attribute.   • Why the compiler is not compiling a line in C++ Builder?

    Hi boys: I was programming an application in C++ Builder 6, and I had encountered this rare problem: void RotateDice() { Graphics::TBitmap *MYbitmap = new Graphics::TBitmap(); Randomize(); int rn = random(6) + 1; switch (rn) { case 1: { //... break; } //... Some cases... } ShowDice(); //it's a function to show the dice delete MYbitmap; //the compiler don't get it!!!! } In the line "ShowDice()", the compiler jumps to the final of the RotateDice() method, it doesn't "see" the line "delete MYbitmap". When I compile the program, every compiled line shows a little blue point in its left side, but that line don't show the blue point... it's like the compiler don't "see" the line of code. What's happening with that???? Note: Some days ago, I was writing a program in Delphi and I was advice of that problematic issue. Some like that happened to me in Delphi 7... So, waht the problem with that? I am so sorry about my English. I am from Cuba.

  • NHibernate: What are child sessions and why and when should I use them?

    In the comments for the ayende's blog about the auditing in NHibernate there is a mention about the need to use a child session:session.GetSession(EntityMode.Poco). As far as I understand it, it has something to do with the order of the SQL operation which session.Flush will emit. (For example: If I wanted to perform some delete operation in the pre-insert event but the session was already done with deleting operations, I would need some way to inject them in.) However I did not find documentation about this feature and behavior. Questions: Is my understanding of child sessions correct? How and in which scenarios should I use them? Are they documented somewhere? Could they be used for session "scoping"? (For example: I open the master session which will hold some data and then I create 2 child-sessions from the master one. I'd expect that the two child-scopes will be separated but the will share objects from the master session cache. Is this the case?) Are they first class citizens in NHibernate or are they just hack to support some edge-case scenarios? Thanks in advance for any info.

For example, the Stellent/Oracle UCM API is composed of roughly 80% interfaces/20% classes, and many of the classes are just exceptions. What is the technical reason for preferring interfaces to classes? Is it just an effort to minimize coupling? To improve encapsulation/information hiding? Something else?

    I think there are people who may be able to answer this, this is a question out of curiosity: The generic CreateInstance method from System.Activator, introduced in .NET v2 has no type constraints on the generic argument but does require a default constructor on the activated type, otherwise a MissingMethodException is thrown. To me it seems obvious that this method should have a type constraint like Activator.CreateInstance<T>() where T : new() { ... } Just an omission or some anecdote lurking here?

  • Why is Log4Net not creating log file in production?

    I am using VS2005, a website project, a web deployment project and Log4Net. I can use logging when I am developing locally. I can see the log files and everything is fine. When I build my website, (using the web deployment project), I use the deploy as a single DLL option. When I then check the locations of where my log files should be I cannot see any files. Is there a way to troubleshoot this. I don't think adding the debug value to the App Settings will help because I don't have a console because it is a website. EDIT I don't want the 150 rep to go to waste so one last time. I compared the internal trace from my dev environment to the trace from the production. My dev environment trace shows the call the Xml Configurator where the production one does not. I have code in the global.asax on application_start() method. I put debug code in there and it is getting called in dev but not in production. I think this is where the web deployment project is causing some issues. Does the global.asax get compiled into the single DLL? When I do a build in the deployment directory I see a global.compiled file. Must this go into the bin folder in production? Or is the global.asax code in the single DLL? Having both in the bin folder or the just the DLL didn't change anything.

The background color of the button won't flash. Can anybody tell me what I'm missing here? P.S. The code works fine when not including it as a mixin.     Having a strange problem with a rails model I just created. Here are my validations: validates_presence_of :from_name, :message => 'Please provide a from name.' validates_presence_of :from_email validates_presence_of :giftition_plan_id I'm having issues using errors.full_messages as well as f.error_messages in my form: g = Giftition.create g.errors.first => ["from_name", "Please provide a from name."] >> g.errors.full_messages => ["{{attribute}} {{message}}", "{{attribute}} {{message}}", "{{attribute}} {{message}}"] I'm just getting "{{attribute}} {{message}}". Any ideas? UPDATE: I've uninstalled rails 3 and all the gems that were installed with it and that made the problem go away. It's not a fix though... I would still like to have rails 3 installed.

    I've seen a number of examples, e.g. here, where people are including locale resource bundles by referencing the locale attribute in the element. For some reason this doesn't work for me. I can make it build with this one change: <include name="locale/en_US"/> The configuration file generated by Flex Builder 3 actually renders this as "locale/{locale}" (notice the $ is missing). I've tried that as well with the same (failing) results. For now, I'm doing OK directly injecting en_US as we won't be doing localization bundles for quite some time, but I will eventually need to get this working. Also, it bugs me that I can't make it work the way that it SHOULD work!

This hasn't been an issue so far because I was always just passing IDs to my wcf service. But I'm trying to do something more complex now but I can't figure it out.     I have about had it with this tool, I check the save password box at the login dialogue but it just doesn't work. Sometimes it will for a few days, and then the password will just be gone. Nearly every time I load this thing up I have to track down the password again and type it in. Is there some password rule in the database that would be causing this? This is driving me absolutely crazy.

  • Why does my Sharepoint page's custom content type change to "Page" when editing?

    I have a custom Sharepoint 2007 site definition with custom content types for the different page layouts. When editing a page using a custom layout from the main "View all contents" tree view, the page content type is fine, but if I view the page directly and edit it from there, the content type gets stripped and replaced with "Page." I can change it back by viewing and editing it from the main list, but not from its subsite home location.

    Here is a simple code that shows what I think is a bug when dealing with double numbers... double wtf = 36.76662445068359375000; id xxx = [NSDecimalNumber numberWithDouble: wtf]; NSString *myBug = [xxx stringValue]; NSLog(@"%.20f", wtf); NSLog(@"%@", myBug); NSLog(@"-------\n"); the terminal will show two different numbers 36.76662445068359375000 and 36.76662445068359168 Is this a bug or am I missing something? if the second number is being rounded, it is a very strange rounding btw...
