• Flash CS3/AS3 - How to Mask Nested MovieClips in External Classes

  I have a number of external class files that make up (or are trying to build) a portfolio. One of the class files for this project is a Menu.as class I tried extends, but I'm yet to use extends to where it doesn't become a ball of tangled holiday cheer. So my main portfolio class (the one where I'm assembling everything) calls an instance of the Menu class. From the Preloader through the Portfolio class into the Menu class is where I'm passing the content because I want to package things properly. This is Menu content, so naturally I want to position it in a properly names spot. I'm trying to reveal this Menu in a mask and I'm getting the old #1009 error. In a trace, this will work: trace(site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc); // returns [object mainMask_mc_4] However, when I try to truncate the string into a single compact_mc... compactMenu_mc = site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc; trace(compact_mc); // it won't trace (#1009). I said to hell with it, but now I need to have one MovieClip mask another. So I figure I can't go all... parent.parent.parent.clip_mc.mask = parent.parent.parent.masked_mc Probably because of datatyping and whatever else. I hate to be vague, but I'm new and have been working like gangbusters for days to get this portfolio up. Any suggestions or pointers on things my noob brain might've missed are given much thanks. :)

• Indy IdSMTP and attachments in Thunderbird

  Hello! Using the latest snapshot of Indy tiburon on D2010. A very simple project like: var stream: TFileStream; (s is TidSMTP and m is TidMessage) begin s.Connect; Stream := TFileStream.Create('c:\Test.zip', fmOpenRead or fmShareExclusive); try with TIdAttachmentMemory.Create(m.MessageParts, Stream) do begin ContentType := 'application/x-zip-compressed'; Name := ExtractFilePath('C:\'); //' FileName := 'Test.zip'; end; finally FreeAndNil(Stream); end; s.Send(m); s.Disconnect(); end; Everything works Ok in Outlook, The bat!, OE, yahoo, etc... but in Thunderbird the attachment is not shown. Looking at the source of the message in Thunderbird, the attachment is there. The only difference I can find between messages send by indy and other clients is that Indy messages have this order: Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="Z\=_7oeC98yIhktvxiwiDTVyhv9R9gwkwT1" MIME-Version: 1.0 while any other clients have the order: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="Z\=_7oeC98yIhktvxiwiDTVyhv9R9gwkwT1" Don't know if THAT is the source of the problem, but if so: is this a bug on Thunderbird or is this a problem with indy which "malforms" the headers of the messages? Is this order a problem? Does that matter anyway?

• Using jQuery.UI CSS Framework for DIV Styling

  Hi folks, a Project I am currently working on uses the jQuery UI framework for some of its widgets. To provide the user with a global look and feel I would like to use the framework also for its css stuff. I am implementing at the moment a dashboard like homepage, where the user can see an overall status of its data. This dashboard is build of some divs that should be aligned into a grid layout. I try to style the divs like follows <div class="ui-widget"> <div class="ui-widget-header">Box Header</div> <div class="ui-widget-content"> Content of the Box </div> </div> Later I would like to implement some draggable-and-sortable functionality. The Problem I am facing right now is that the boxes aren't properly aligned. Does anyone has a hint on using jQuery.UI for that kind of css work? Has anyone got any ideas about how these methods need to be modified so as to work with Haml Formtastic? • In WPF 3D, why can't a perspective camera's LookDirection be straight down?

  I'm attempting to position my perspective camera 30 units above the origin and pointing straight down. If I set the LookDirection of the camera to "0,0,-1", however, everything disappears. I have to make it "0.01,0.01,-1" for it to work.   I'm trying to use the mozrepl Firefox extension to give me a Javascript REPL from within emacs. I think I've got it set up correctly. I can interact with the REPL from emacs and can explore the document pretty much as described in the tutorial pages. The problem comes when I try to do something really simple, like get a context to a canvas element: repl> document.getElementById("mycanvas").getContext("2d") !!! • C#: WebBrowser.Navigated Only Fires when I MessageBox.Show();

  I have a WebBrowser control which is being instantiated dynamically from a background STA thread because the parent thread is a BackgroundWorker and has lots of other things to do. The problem is that the Navigated event never fires, unless I pop a MessageBox.Show() in the method that told it to .Navigate(). I shall explain: ThreadStart ts = new ThreadStart(GetLandingPageContent_ChildThread); Thread t = new Thread(ts); t.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); t.Name = "Mailbox Processor"; t.Start(); protected void GetLandingPageContent_ChildThread() { WebBrowser wb = new WebBrowser(); wb.Navigated += new WebBrowserNavigatedEventHandler(wb_Navigated); wb.Navigate(_url); MessageBox.Show("W00t"); } protected void wb_Navigated(object sender, WebBrowserNavigatedEventArgs e) { WebBrowser wb = (WebBrowser)sender; // Breakpoint HtmlDocument hDoc = wb.Document; } This works fine; but the messagebox will get in the way since this is an automation app. When I remove the MessageBox.Show(), the WebBrowser.Navigated event never fires. I've tried supplanting this line with a Thread.Sleep(), and by suspending the parent thread. Once I get this out of the way, I intend to Suspend the parent thread while the WebBrowser is doing its job and find some way of passing the resulting HTML back to the parent thread so it can continue with further logic. Why does it do this? How can I fix it? If someone can provide me with a way to fetch the content of a web page, fill out some data, and return the content of the page on the other side of the submit button, all against a webserver that doesn't support POST verbs nor passing data via QueryString, I'll also accept that answer as this whole exercise will have been unneccessary.

Usually this was just a file not found exception. I have no idea what or why that new exception is throwing? 2) Now that a different exception is throwing on the server side instead of the file not found, it would seem I can't use this set up for the application, because back on client side, any exception is assumed to be filenotfound. Any help, especially info on why this ThreadAbortException is throwing!?!? greatly appreciated. Cheers

  Just today I've started using Drupal for a site I'm designing/developing. For my own site http://jwm-art.net I wrote a user-unfriendly CMS in PHP. My brief experience with Drupal is making me want to convert from the CMS I wrote. • WWW::Mechanize Perl login only works after relaunch

  Hello, I'm trying to login automatically in a website using Perl WWW::Mechanize. What I do is: $bot = WWW::Mechanize->new(); $bot->cookie_jar( HTTP::Cookies->new( file => "cookies.txt", autosave => 1, ignore_discard => 1, ) ); $response = $bot->get( 'http://blah.foo/login' ); $bot->form_number(1); $bot->field( usern => 'user' ); $bot->field( pass => 'pass' ); $response =$bot->click(); print $response->content(); $response = $bot->get( 'http://blah.foo' ); print $response->content(); The login works, but when I load the page it tells me that I am not connected. You see that I store cookies in a file. Now if I relaunch the script without the login part, it says that I am connected... Does anyone understand this strange behaviour ?

• MVC ASP.NET, ObjectContext and Ajax. Weird Behaviour

  Hi, i've been creating a web application in mvc asp.net. I have three different project/solutions. One solution contains the model in EF (DAL) and all the methods to add, update, delete and query the objects in the model, the objectcontext is managed here in a per request basis. Other solution contains a content management system in wich authorized users insert, delete, update and access objects through the DAL mentioned before. And the last solution contains the web page that is accessed by all users and where the only operations executed are selects, no update, inserts or deletes here. All the selects are executed against the DAL mentioned before (the first solution). The problem here is that i'm not sure whether an HttpContext lifespan ObjectContext is the best solution. I have a lot of ajax calls in my web app and i'm not sure if an httpcontext could interfere with the performance of the application. I've been noticed that in some cases, specially when someone is working in the content manager inserting, updating or deleting, when you try to click on any link of the user web application (the web app that is accessed by any user - the third one that i mentioned before) the web page freezes and it remains stucked transferring data. In order to stop that behaviour you have to stop and refresh or click several times on the link. Excuse me for my bad english. I hope you could understand and could help me to solve this issue.
