  • Project Server 2007 install issue - ProjectEventService won't start

    Trying to install PS2007 with SP1 on Server 2003. The install goes fine, but when running the SharePoint Configuration Wizard, it fails at stage 6 of 12 with the error: Failed to register SharePoint Services. An exception of type System.InvalidOperationException was thrown. Additional exception information: Cannot start service ProjectEventService on computer '.'. From the PSCDiagnostics log: Exception: System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service ProjectEventService on computer '.'. --- System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. The ProjectEventService (Microsoft Office Project Server Event) won't even start manually using the Network Service account. Starting the service with a domain account works, but subsequently running the Config Wizard causes the service to be removed and re-provisioned to run using the Network Service account, which again fails. Presumably Network Service needs elevated permissions, but even adding it to the local Admin group makes no difference. Anyone come across this sort of issue before?

    In .NET Compact Framework a device can have several IP Addresses I want to find one that is NOT coming from the Cellular connection. Goal is for WiFi or Ethernet connection. Is there a way to do this? Seems like State and Notification Broker would have a way to do this but didn't see a way.

    I'm trying to configure IIRF 2 on IIS 5.1 running on XP Pro, so that I can run the Zend Framework. I've managed to get the filter running on a second website that I setup using one the IIS admin scripts. When I goto iirfStatus I get this: The problem is the .ini path for the site is pointing to c:\windows\system32\Irif.ini rather than the site root. If I try creating an IIS application under IIS-Website Properties-Home Directory then iirfStatus stops working entirely. Any ideas how I can set the ini path correctly, or will I only be able to get away with this on a proper server edition of IIS?

  • Mac OS X 10.6 issues connecting via vpn to Microsoft server

    I am currently running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and trying to use the native vpn client to connect to our Microsoft vpn server. If I route all traffic via the vpn connection I am able to connect to our servers, however, external traffic to i.e. google or stack overflow is blocked. If I uncheck the checkbox to route all traffic via the vpn I can connect to the vpn, however, I can not connect to my servers, external traffic to google or stackoverflow works though. Is this a vpn client issue, do I need to purchase Mac OS X vpn software instead of the native client, or is there a Microsoft vpn server setting that has to be checked. I am not familiar with the server software, but I wanted to post this question here to help out our network admin with the Mac OS X machines.

I have downloaded the Maps application from the Appstore in my real device and which is disaplying the seach field in the map. can any body have any solution for displaying the search field in the Existing Map, as i want to search the text into the search field and want to display its content to the Map?   • How can I use VirtualDocumentRoot to serve the www subdomain with SSL enabled?

    I am able to serve http://www.domain.com and http://domain.com. Also https://domain.com works fine too. But not https://www.domain.com for some reason this doesn't work. I even created a www.domain.com in my sites-availible folder and also enabled it. I reloaded the configuration and yet it still doesn't work.     I need a way to login multiple users into windows at startup, in (XP/Vista/7) I need for each time windows starts, all registered users will automatically login and starts all apps in their startup folder under their own credentials. Any ideas how I could achieve this? i need a 'cheap' alternative to windows vps. lots of people need vps to run certain apps and leave it running. it's less likely they need full admin access other than installing those apps. instead of each users have their own vps running simple apps, it might be cheaper to have one multi-user server to accomplish this?

  • Logfiles go blank after logrotate rotates them.

    I have an ubuntu 8.04 LTS server that runs openvpn. The openvpn server writes to a standard logfile under /var/log and prior to a month ago logrotate would automatically rotate the files and compress them. The files are still being rotated however the new logfile (ovpn.log) is empty. Restarting the openvpn daemon fixes the issue (ie: openvpn writes status events to the file) but after about 10 days the file is rotated again openvpn can't write to the logfile again. This is also strange because logrotate is set to rotate every 6 months. Openvpn runs as nobody and the logfiles are owned by root and admin which is strange because it should either work at all times or not work at all if the permissions are the cause, unless openvpn runs as root temporarily and then drops down to nobody after initializing ?

Since 30 years ago on the Superboard, TRS-80, Apple II, I haven't seen a system with one's complement. Are there popular systems that use one's complement still, or do we have some cell phone or mobile device that uses one's complement?

  • SCCM Client Push FAIL - Win2000 box

    Hello, When trying to install the SCCM client onto a Windows 2000 box, the install fails. The install script is run through a batch file (CONTENTS: \mdop\SCCM_client\ccmsetup.exe /mp:MDOP /logon smssitecode=MID smsslp=MDOP) hosted on a public area of the network. This script has worked for all machines (mostly Win2003 Server). I've tried enabling all the common services it requires (BITS, IIS Admin, Windows Installer), but it still only runs for a second or two then quits. Here's the piece of the log file where it errors out: [LOG[Couldn't get directory list for directory 'http://MDOP/CCM_Client/ClientPatch'. There is a private key that is installed on the server and a public certificate file was exported from the JKS keystore file. I have installed the public key into certificate store via MMC under Personal certificates. I am trying to create a binding that will encrypt the message and pass the username as part of the payload.   • ERROR_SEM_TIMEOUT when using WinUSB WritePipe

    I often get ERROR_SEM_TIMEOUT errors using the WinUSB WritePipe function. This would seem to indicate that there is a timeout, but if I wait a period of time and try again I'm never able to write. I'm writing in 64 byte chucks to the USB device and often don't have problems. Once I start getting the error, I may have to unplug the usb and and close my app before trying again. Has anybody experienced this problem?

    This question is regarding using STSADM command to create new site collection in Active Directory Account creation mode. My setup is like this- I have 2 virtual PCs in a Windows XP Pro SP3 host. Both VPCs are Windows Server 2003 R2. One VPC acts as the DC, DNS Server, DHCP server, has Active Directory installed and is also the Database Server. The other VPC is the domain member and it is the IIS web server, POP/SMTP server and it has WSS 3.0 installed. I created a new site using the GUI in Central Admin page. For creating a site collection under the newly created site, I needed to use the STSADM command line tool since it cannot be done from Central Admin page in Active Directory Account creation mode. My questions are: 1.- Is linode good for magento ? 2.- is linode good for java+tomcat+jstl+mysql apps ? 3.- What are the most demanding resources to magento ? CPU ? RAM ?   • how to properly enable drag-and-drop in Windows 7 (with iTunes in particular)

    On two computers with Windows 7 at work and at home with the same version of iTunes (10.1.0.56) at work I can drag-and-drop files into iPod, and I can not at home. At home only adding them first through a dialog box to a Library and only after that drag-and-dropping into iPod (or iPad) works. Initially I thought the problem is in iTunes, but looks like it's the same version, so most likely it's the Windows 7 config parameters. It's 64-bit W7, and I have admin privileges in both cases. The only difference I could think of is it's an enterprise version at work and ultimate at home. What should I change at home to enable that drag-and-drop-ing files into the application?

  • vista server 2008 web edition cant change permissions

    hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

    I'm having trouble with installing Wordpress on a dedicated Microsoft Windows Web Server 2008 R2. I've installed Wordpress Version 2.9.2 from Web platform installer 3.0. After installation when I try to access wordpress, either from ~/index.php or ~/wp-admin/install.php I get the error: HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error File monitoring is enabled for a file which could not be found Modul: FastCgiModule Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler Handler: PHP52_via_FastCGI Error Code: 0x80070003 I have both .Net 2.0 and .Net 4.0 installed. Adding a "phpinfo.php" gives me the same error. The application pool in IIS7 that's used for the website is: "No Managed Code" and set to "Integrated" in "Managed Pipeline Mode". I've tried to reboot the machine. What's more can I try?
