• SQL Server switch to MySQL/PostgreSQL for startup?

  I just checked out the licensing for SQL Server and well...i can't afford it since im funding this project myself. I have been tinkering with MySQL and PostgreSQL a bit the past few weeks and at this point I can't really decide which to go with. MySQL has a large user base and lots of people using it so finding out how to do various items will not be to hard o find. I will be using ASP.NET with this project. Anyone have experience going from SQL Server to either of these databases? Is one stronger than the other? Thoughts?

• Creating/Handling events for controls when added during runtime.

  I am using a Repeater which contains a placeholder. The placeholder is bound to my database and each ItemTemplate contains 1-6 radiobuttons depending on what the database returns. • Pattern for null settings

  Hi, I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas about this one. in my application i have controls that are binded to objects properties. but.. the controls always looks like that: a check box, label that explain the settings and then the edited control (for ex: text box) when unchecking the checkbox i disable the text box (using binding) when the checkbox is unchecked i want the property to contain null, and when it is checked i would like the property to contain the text box's text. Of course text box can be NumericUpDown, ComboBox, DatePicker etc.. Do you have any smart way of doing it using binding or do i have to do everything on code; I really would like to a build a control that supports that and re-use it all over Ideas? Thanks,

• Ant deploy WAR file to tomcat server failure

  I am having a little trouble getting my deployment task in ant to function. I have a war file that is generated as part of the build process, and I am now trying to autodeploy that to my test server. In ant I have defined a deployment task as seen below. When I try to run it I get a file not found error on the server in the catalina.out log file. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong that is causing this deploy to not function? I have checked the path, and it is correct and the WAR file exists. • Why I am not able to run rails tests

• Context menu not firing when clicking on a line in a MovieClip

  Question: In Flash AS3, I have a furniture movieclip (converted from CAD) in another movieclip [to crop the border]. My first problem was that it didn't fire onclick at all. So I had to draw a background, and it started working when I did not click on a CAD drawing line. Then I checked mousevent.target for classname, and if it was not CustomMovieClip, I took object.parent.parent. That worked for onclick. But now I seem to have a similar problem with the contextmenu. When I right-click anywhere, I get the contextmenu, but the context menu event-handler doesn't fire if I right-clicked on a CAD line (but it works if I right-click on the background)... The problem now is it doesn't fire, so I can't take target.parent.parent.

• VSS keep resetting working folder a the root of the C: drive

  I have noticed several times (that is it does not happens all the time, but occurs regulary) that VSS has forgoten my working folder settings and re-set it to be a root of the C: drive. It is very annoying to find out that some of the files you have checked out and been working on are not in the same folder where you expect them to be (and it also pollutes the drive with a C:\SubProject1, C:\SubProject2 folders instead of keeping them all inside of C:\Work). Any recomendation to prevent VSS from doing this again and again. And yes, please, don't recomment switching to SVN, CVS, TFS etc - there are the rules I can't change.

  How to find the site performance, there is a tools like YSLOW, Speed traker in google that shows the speed of the website. I have done a php project on LMS with Zend Framework, Everything is in live. When user post contents for a subject that may be size 200K and submitted to the server takes too slow. Sometime server may get DOWN. I login to server(PUTTY) and checked i found that there is more resource occupied in my server. It uses full memory on the server. When i cleared the resource the site loads well. Site is in Dedicated server with 3 more domains with 4GB Ram. Because of this LMS website all the website gets down. I need to check what is wrong in my website. How do i Start?

  I'm using SVN with Google Code Project Hosting for a school project. As the codebase increases in size, I often find myself wondering questions like: "who originally checked in this line of code?" "who has been checking in the most code recently?" "Of the final product, how much of it was written by Person X?" "Which coder is best at adhering to the coding conventions?" Is there any plugin available to do this? (If not, I would be interested in developing one myself. Any ideas on where to get started on that?) We're using Visual Studio 2008 with the AnkhSVN plugin.

  I'm tasked with automating the retrieval of a couple of BusinessObjects Web Intelligence reports and further processing thereof. I have no other means of access to this data (this was the first avenue I followed), so I will have to do some screen scraping. Alas, the interface seems user-only. Grr! Has anyone done this before? Like to share? Also, does anyone know of a good library for automating the web browser? I know there is a python thingy out there that can be used for testing web applications - I need something in .NET though... What is your favorite? PS: I have also checked this thread (automate getting report from webpage), but am hoping for a Web Intelligence specific sollution.

  Hi. I got a list of customers I thought I would list in a gridview or a repeater with customer html, it gone have paging. I'm gone have a checkbox for each customer in the list. Do you guys have any suggestions on how I should do to keep the checkbox value when I go to page 2-3-4 ect in the paging. I'm thinking a session to store the id of the checked customers. After I'm done setting the values they go to the database. Do you got any other ideas then the session I'm thinking of? thanks guys

• database table in Magento does not exist: sales_flat_shipment_grid

  We're using Magento 1.4.0.1 and want to use an extension from a 3rd party developer. The extension does not work, because of a join to the table "sales_flat_shipment_grid": $collection = $model->getCollection()->join('sales/shipment_grid', 'increment_id=shipment', array('order_increment_id'=>'order_increment_id', 'shipping_name' =>'shipping_name'), null,'left'); Unfortunately this table does not exist n our database. So the error "Can't retrieve entity config: sales/shipment_grid" appears. If I comment this part out, the extension is working, but I guess, it does not proper work. Does anybody know something about this table? There are a backend-option for the catalog to use the "flat table" option, but this is only for the catalog. And the tables already exists, no matter which option is checked. Thank you a lot! :-)

• Presta Shop Switching Domain Issue

  I have a website made on Presta Shop CMS. I had it on my trial server. The installation and everything. It works and runs fine. I then copied (using FTP) every file from my trial server to the main domain. I did not install it on the main domain (bought from network solutions), but copied everything there. The issue is when i hit the main domain, it somewhat redirects me back to the trial server. I have checked and changed many of the default values. and many values in the database. But still havent had luck. Also made changes in the .htaccess file, still without any luck. I do not want to go through the installation process again on my main domain. You can check the site (main domain :- www.myworld-myhome.com, it will redirect you to hrm.com/esol/ )

  Dear All, I recently started using Mac OS X for a flex/actionscript project and having a problem with flash player debugger plugin for the browsers: OSX: 10.6.3 Browsers I tried: firefox, safari and chrome Flashplayer debug "Flash Player 10 Plugin content debugger (Intel-based Macs) Whenever I open a page containing a flash content, my browser crashes due to flash player plugin's crash. I checked the version of my flash player debug plugin with http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html and as the version checker is written in flash, my browser crashes a few seconds later. • Solr date field tdate vs date?

  So I have a question about Solr's field date types which is pretty straight forward: what's the difference between a 'date' field and a 'tdate' one? The schema .xml claims that 'For faster range queries, consider the tdate type' and 'A Trie based date field for faster date range queries and date faceting. ' Fair enough... but what's the precisionStep="6" all about? should i change this? does it change the way i would create the query in case I use the tdate? What's the real advantage or what does Solr do that makes it better? P.S went through google, Solr manual, solr wiki and the java docs without any luck so I'd appreciate a kind and explanatory answer :)...   my query: SELECT content.*, activity_log.content_id FROM content LEFT JOIN activity_log ON content.id = activity_log.content_id AND sess_id = '$sess_id' WHERE activity_log.content_id IS NULL AND visibility = $visibility AND content.reported < ".REPORTED_LIMIT." AND content.file_ready = 1 LIMIT 1 The purpose of that query is to get 1 row from the content table that has not been viewed by the user (identified by session_id), but it still returns contents that have been viewed. What is wrong? ( I have checked the table making sure that the content_ids are there) Note: I think this is more efficient than using subqueries, thoughts?
